Surviving Formorrow
Killer Headache
Part 4
Author Notes: What's this? I short mini story like I actually intended? Is that a flying cat I see? Or is it pig? Cat sounds better in all honesty. But yes, this is the last chapter for killer headache-go me~
As well as the last chapter I currently have typed up. Maybe when inspiration strikes I'll get to a few new one shots or mini series but for now, time to end this with a bang! I-of course, do not own Digimon.
3rd P.O.V
After an eternity within black, Takuma was glad to finally have the strength to open his eyes. It was night time, when exactly he couldn't say. What he did know was that it was dark and he was surrounded.
Agumon was obviously there laying on his bed, but there were bandages covering him as well, showing just how tired and hurt the big yellow lizard was. He really pulled through for Takuma, just like he always did. He appreciated and loved him so much.
His gaze, still slightly fuzzy moved a bit to the left, surprised to find Miu and a bunch of the digimon he saw from the amusement park cuddled on the remaining space. Soft inhales and exhales were heard, causing him to smile.
It was a good thing he wasn't a squirmer or the type to toss and turn, otherwise these poor kids would have been knocked over ages ago. A small sigh escaped him, still tired despite being stuck in bed for...who knew how long.
Much to his relief he was staring up at the ceiling to the abandoned school. His friends managed to get him and all of Jijimon's companions to safety. That relief didn't last long though. The more awake he became, the more clear the conversations he overheard became as well.
Miu and Jijimon told the others about his migraines. Though he didn't hear the entire thing, he had a feeling the elder kemonogami spilled the beans on everything he knew about his condition. With another sigh, Takuma carefully slid out from under the covers.
He risked waking Agumon, who rose and dropped from his movements, only to snuggle deeper into the covers. A smile formed before he noticed Miu shiver, clutching the horde of creatures around her like plushies.
Immediately he took off his sweatshirt jacket, draping it over her. He himself felt a shiver as a breeze from the opened window danced through, but he would be fine. His black t-shirt and the bandages that essentially mummified him would keep him warm, especially once he started walking.
Now he knew he probably shouldn't be wandering the halls, but...habits died hard. He wanted to check up on everyone to make sure they were ok. It was just something he did after the spiders were driven away.
Just a quick peek to make sure everyone was counted for and safe. Once he did that and saw everyone was a-ok, he'd go back to sleep. He'd take another bed though, not wanting to ruin the little cuddle pile in his. Carefully he inched his way out of the room, glancing at the cross symbol etched on the plaque next to the door.
A small snort left him, not at all surprised to find he was thrown into the infirmary to recover. "Heya Takuma!" It took everything in him not to scream in fright. Clutching his chest, he found Dracmon staring up at him with a big grin on his face.
"Dracmon? What are you doing here?" He kept his voice at a whisper, taking a glance at the infirmary. Relief filled him seeing everyone in there still sound asleep. "Keeping an eye on things while Kaito's in the bathroom. Thanks for doing that for Miu, I'm sure both her and Kaito will appreciate it."
Now that his heart wasn't ready to leap out of his chest, he sighed, offering the little creature a smile. "I'm surprised to see you and Kaito up, it's late isn't it?" Usually the only time he saw the duo up at night was when they went to raid the snack stash.
A dangerous thing to do if caught by Aoi. Dracmon shrugged at him. "Could say the same thing to you buddy. You've been out for a week and a half and the first thing you wanna do is take a walk in the dead of night?" Takuma felt a bit sheepish hearing that
He rubbed the back of his head, only t*o wince when he applied pressure. "I take it you wouldn't believe me if I said I couldn't sleep?" The little kemonogami's grin grew wider. "Nope!" Fair enough he supposed.
But still...a week and a half he was down for the count? That only made him more anxious. "I...just want to make sure everyone's alright. I passed out just as you guys arrived, so I'm just a bit worried is all." Now it was Dracmon's turn to sigh, crossing his arms while he shook his head in disapproval.
It looked weird with his smile. "Workaholic through and through. Seriously you need to either delegate more or worry less. Everyone's fine. If anything, they're all worried sick about YOU." That really wasn't what Takuma wanted to hear.
"I'm gonna stop that obvious trail of thought right there, Takuma. You don't need to feel bad or whatever. What you did was brave, stupid, but brave. It worked and you managed to help Miu and your friends, but no one was happy to find out you got badly hurt and keeping secrets." It hurt to hear.
However he appreciated Dracmon for being honest with him. "I know. A conversation with everyone is long overdue. I promise, I'll head back to bed soon, I just...want to check." Suddenly the raven haired human found himself scrutinized.
Dracmon wasn't the type to judge, but he was giving him a critical eye. "You don't seem surprised that we know about it. What gives?" Ah...so that's what it was. "Strange as it sounds, I heard some of the conversations going on around me while I was out." His friend gave a low whistle.
"Ah, that's why you didn't wake in a panic or whatever. No joke, I was waiting for you to scream atop of your lungs and scare the shit out of everyone. Missed opportunity." A snort escaped Takuma.
Missed opportunity indeed. No one needed a heart attack in the dead of night, thank you. "I'll be back in a bit." He turned around, slowly walking away. He was expecting to be stopped or further dissuaded from continuing.
As much as he'd like to think otherwise, Takuma really was in no shape to be out and about. And Dracmon, for all his jokes and goofy antics, was a worrywart too. "If Kaito catches you, I'm not saving you~" And that was a fair enough statement coming from Dracmon.
He would handle any and all future lectures that would come his way. No matter what, he wasn't going to be sorry or promise not to do his rounds. It was for his peace of mind, or...rather what peace he could get these days.
It was something he had to see with his own eyes. Thankfully Takuma long memorized the structure of the school. He was easily able to navigate through the empty halls. Finding the girls room was quick. He counted Aoi, Saki and their partners, smiling when he saw all of them slumbering peacefully.
Miyuki and Haru was huddled between the two, sleeping as well. "Ok...one down." Carefully he closed the door before moving on. The route to the boy's sleeping area was short, but far more treacherous with its creaking floorboards.
A wince formed with every step he took. Unfortunately with him going at a snail's pace, that meant he was taking a lot of steps. Still, he made it to the door, silently opening it to do a head count.
Shuji, Ryo, Minoru, all three boys' companions, Jijimon and even the professor was there. It was a surprise but not a bad one. After what happened at the bridge, Takuma, like the others thought he was dead. So seeing all of them snoring away brought forth a joy he was happy to feel.
The only person Takuma hadn't come across was Kaito. If Dracmon said he was in the bathroom, then it wouldn't be long before the blond would return to the infirmary to discover his absence. Knowing him the way he did, Kaito would immediately start on a manhunt for him.
Gently shutting the door closed, Takuma took the long way back to nurse's office. It Kaito found him, chances were he'd be pissed and swearing at him, not really thinking (or caring) about volume control.
If that happened then he would at least try to create some distance between them and the rooms where everyone was asleep. Of course with taking the long way meant more walking, making it harder and harder to keep going.
The fatigue he felt when he first woke up came back with avengence. After a week of staying stuck in bed, obviously the strength and stamina he had would be lost. "Damn." Still that didn't relieve the frustration when he forced himself to sit at the top of the stairs leading to the nurse's office so he could catch his breath.
He rested his arms and head on his knees, inhaling and exhaling at a steady rate. He could hear his heart pounding against his chest and ears. "Takuma!" The raven haired boy jerked his head up, clutching his heart through his shirt again. "Kaito-"
The terrified teen released a gasp, exhaling heavily. "Don't do that! I swear, first Dracmon, now you?" It was meant to be a little joke, something to ease the noticeable tension on the older boy's face. That proved to not work when the blonde boy lifted him up.
Takuma blinked when he found his arm over Kaito's shoulder, the two of them carefully making their way down the steps. "Kaito? Are you-" He was given a glare, shutting him up. "When we get down there, you're getting your ass back in bed."
It felt like he was being scolded like a little kid. Hearing his friend so angry made him nod, averting his eyes. "Dracmon told me after I came back-do you know how stupid that was? You just woke up!" Well...he did say he would take any future scolding or lecture, but man...
"I know...I was making my way back." It was a miracle Kaito hadn't screamed at the top of his lungs. He was ready for the boy to shout at him for sure. Instead the insults and scolds as expected, there came a quiet enraged whisper.
Felt ten times worse if he was honest. Kaito sighed. "I swear you are not allowed to do anything so much as eat and go to the bathroom after this. Talk about me giving you a heart attack, try the other way around, moron." At that Takuma blinked, but his friend continued.
Still whispering while supporting most of his weight. "Do you know how terrified I was to find you by the damn stairs of all things? If you passed out or tried going down, you could've tripped and broke your fucking neck!" Much to the injured male's surprise they were down the steps, slowly making their way back.
"I...only wanted to make sure everything was alright." A snort came from his companion. "Always needing to take care of others but never yourself. Geez. Relax a bit and let the rest of us take some of the load will you? We're not stupid or incapable, you can rely on us more." That...was true.
Takuma smiled hearing that. "No promises...but I'll try." That earned him a huff. "You better or I'll knock your lights out so fast you'll have no choice but to listen." Dracmon gave the two of them a cheery little wave as they stepped back into the room.
Everyone there was still out, unaware of the miniature drama that went down. Something they intended to keep until morning. Kaito gently lowered him onto the spare bed before placing the covers over him.
"I'll make sure Miu gives you back your jacket tomorrow." He...wasn't really worried about it. "No rush, she looked cold." A yawn passed through Takuma's lips. "Well sorry you had to do that for me and thank you." A blush formed on Kaito's face.
Immediately he crossed his arms, scowling. "If you're sorry then let yourself heal up...and don't worry about it." Satisfied, the black haired teen closed his eyes, completely blacking out. For once...not a single voice to be heard.
The end
Author Notes: I stand for this. Let Kaito scare the voices away with his concern and let me die a happy lady. Does it look a bit similar to the very first piece written in this series? Yes-I don't care lol. This is such a thing for our rough around the edges-blondie and i feel like this is the best I could've done.
So no matter what I'm happy. For now it's time to end this. Boys and girls we're wrapping it up here. As always, thank you all so much for reading my story. If you like it please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean so much to me. Tchao for now
