Chapter 1: Return

Avatar: Reincarnation

Three years have passed since the return of the airbenders and much has changed around the world, humans have begun living together with spirits in harmony, especially in republic city where the city has been rebuilt around the new spirit park and many are eagerly awaiting the return of their avatar and to show her Avatar Korra park.

~o~

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the new train station had just wrapped up and Mako was wishing to be anywhere but here. "Is there a problem officer?"

Mako turned to see a beautiful woman, with long dark black hair that was tied into a bun on top of her head with two needles tying the bun together, part of her hair covering part of her left eye, her eyes were a light blue. She was wearing a blue water tribe coat, with a matching blue skirt and heels. Holding a small purse with a bracelet on her wrist that had the water tribe symbol inside an iceberg etched into it.

"July," said Mako as he gave her a huge. "What are you doing here?"

"Can't a girl come visit her boyfriend."

"Of course," said Mako with a smile before looking around, "But…"

"Worried Prince Wu will start acting like a fool again," said July before leaning over slightly looking past Mako, "I'm afraid it's a little late for that."

Mako followed where she was looking to see Prince Wu talking to Asami, clearly making her uncomfortable and annoyed. Mako groaned, " Excuse me, for a moment." Mako walked over to the Prince and cleared his throat, getting his attention. "Excuse me Prince Wu, President Raiko would like to have a word…about king stuff."

Prince Wu looked annoyed like a toddler, "Now? Fiiiiiiine." Groaned the Prince as he left to go speak with President Raiko.

"He's a real charmer isn't he?" commented Mako.

"He's something alright," said Asami before looking at Mako. "How can you stand being his bodyguard?"

"Well at the end of the day, I just tell myself that once he's gone, I can go back to being a detective."

"That works?" asked Asami.

"That and hitting my head against the wall for a while." said Mako, earning a laugh from Asami.

"It's good to see you again Mako, it's been too long," she then noticed someone standing behind Mako, "Who's this?"

Mako turned and smiled, "Asami, let me introduce you to July, my girlfriend."

July held out her hand. "Hi."

Asami shook her hand and looked at the woman, "Wait second, have we met before, you look really familiar."

"We've actually met twice," clarified July, "I used to work for Cabbage Corp."

Asami snapped her finger as she remembered, "Right you were at the city ball last year. The one that announced Prince Wu as the next Earth King."

July nodded, "Yep, we talked for a brief moment as you were trying to go over some numbers with my former boss."

"Former boss?"

"Yeah, let's just say Cabbage Corp isn't for me, especially with my old boss." said July with a slightly ticked off face.

Mako noticed the look, "He hasn't tried talking to you again has he?"

July shook her head, "Don't worry about it Mako, I can handle it. I just need to find a new job, that's all."

"Well if you want I can help you out." Offered Asami. "Future industries have several openings."

"Thanks but I'm sure I can find somewhere on my own."

"Alright though the offer still stands," said Asami, "Are you coming to Air Temple Island tonight for dinner?"

July shook her head once more, "As much as I would love to meet the Avatar I have a prior engagement. My friend and former co-worker is returning back home and tonight is her last night here, so I'm going to see her off."

"Don't worry," said Mako as he put a hand around July causing her to look loveling at her boyfriend, "We'll make sure to meet up with Korra properly some other time."

"That would be great." said Asami, "I know Korra would love to catch up."

"So would I," said Mako, not noticing July looking away for a second. "I've been wondering what she's been up to these past three years."

~o~

"It has been three long years since Korra has been to Republic city," said Tenzin as he sat down at the table with his family, every single one of them excited to see Korra again after three long years. Even Mako and Asami were looking forward to seeing their friend again. As for president Raiko and Prince Wu, they just thought it would be great PR to see the Avatar again. "It will be nice seeing her again."

"Yeah, but I don't think she even recognizes me," said Meelo

"Oh and why's that?" asked his older sister Ikki.

"Because Meelo the boy," as he gave off an innocent face. "Has turned into Meelo the man." as he made a tough guy pose.

Ikki gave her brother a look of disbelief, "Yeah you are totally unrecognizable."

Over in the corner both Mako and chief Lin Beifong were trying to have a quiet conversation. "Please, there has got to be a way to get me out of this." Begged Mako. "How am I going to explain this to July? We just moved in together."

"I'm sorry, Mako, my hands are tied," said Lin apologetically to Mako. "I'm sorry I didn't realize that things hadn't gotten that serious between you and that girl. Right now you are nothing more than a pawn in Raiko's political game."

"Excuse me," said an Air acolyte. "There's a water nation vessel approaching the docks."

"KORRA!" yelled the kids as they ran outside to the docks.

~o~

Outside a Southern Water Tribe ship docked at Air Temple Island, before the ramp could fully descend a giant polar bear dog jumps out and runs towards the group before rolling over asking for belly rubs. As the ramp touched down, Tonraq, the head of the southern water tribe walked down the ramp followed by a young woman with braided hair.

"Tonraq, it's good to see you again." as Tenzen greeted him before noticing the girl. "And who might this be?"

"It is good to see you again, Tenzen, and allow me to introduce my niece, Kina," he said before noticing some looks. "On my wife's side, not on mine."

"Hello there," said Kina as she gave a respectful bow. "It's so great to finally meet you all, my cousin has told me so much about all of you."

"Yes, well speaking of your cousin, where is she? Everyones has been looking forward to her return," asked Tenzin.

Tonraq then started to look slightly nervous, "Oh well you see about that..."

Kina then stepped forward. "On our way here, we kind of saved a small cruise ship from some pirates, as a way of thanks the captain offered for Korra and her fiancé to stay until they made it to republic city."

"Oh I see-" Tenzen froze as did the others as they replayed what was just said to them in their heads, as their eyes and jaws dropped "FIANCE!"

~o~

On a cruise ship just outside of Republic City's waters, many people were enjoying a fabulous dinner, before a scream cut through the dining hall. "PIRATES!" Everyone turned to see pirates entering the room.

One stepped forward ahead of the others and set his hands on fire with fire-bending before colliding two fireballs together. "All of you shut up, now. Normally this is the part where I tell all you land lovers to hand over ya valuables, but this is different. This ship was attacked yesterday by me brother's crew and someone dared sink their ship and I want to know who it was right now or I'm burning this boat right here right NOW!" As he let out a torrent of flame from his fist.

"Boss, stop." Yelled one of his men, "We're already way too close to Republic City, if they see anything then we're done for."

The pirate captain looked at his man, "Shut it before I throw you overboard."

Before the man could respond they heard the clicking of heels against the hard wooden floor towards them. "I swear I can't even go through dinner without someone trying to pick a fight with me." as they saw a woman in a fancy dress.

"Ba bababa BOSS.."

"Yeah, yeah." said the Pirate as he stared her down. "It's the avatar."

"She's pretty." said another pirate which earned him a slap upside the head from his captain.

"Shut it you idiot," said the Captain. "So the avatar is the one that took out my brother."

Korra smiled and cracked her knuckles, "Yeah and I'm about to make an encore."

"Wait," came a calm and collected voice, "It's my turn, remember."

"Oh come on," said Korra, annoyed. "Those pirates yesterday weren't even a workout."

"HEY!" shouted the pirates.

"True but I want a go."

Korra sighed, "Fine, but if they attack me I'm fighting back."

"That's fair."

"What in Sozin's name are you?" Asked the Pirate captain.

A lean young man stepped forward wearing a light green suit and pure white hair with light amber eyes holding a small steak knife. "Hi, I'm Zan."

~(Five minutes later)~

Korra stood at the railing of the ship as she looked over the bay and saw the city in the distance, a city she had not seen in three years, her mind wandered to all the people she hadn't seen in that time. Though it didn't last long as she was taken out of her thoughts at the sound of a pirate hitting the railing not too far from her. "Having fun?"

"Eeh, not really, these guys aren't much of a fight," said Zan, spinning the knife in his hand, before looking at Korra with concern. "Are you doing okay?"

Korra sighed as she looked over at Air Temple Island, "No, I haven't seen or heard anything from my friends in three years. I'm worried, nervous of seeing them again after such a long time, so much has happened in three years and I have no idea if they have even heard about it, I haven't even heard anything from them."

"DIE AVATAR!" as a pirate came charging with a knife.

Korra simply grabbed his arm with one hand and with a small flick of her foot air-bended him over the railing into the water below. "I don't know I guess I'm kind of scared of what they'll think of me, of what they think of you."

Zan laughed, "You don't need to worry about anything, I'm sure they'll be just happy to see you."

"Yeah I guess you're right," said Korra with determination. "I have to face them head-on."

Zan smiled and put his arm around Korra in an embrace, "Theirs the Korra I know and love."

"Come on, we got to give these clothes back before we get going," said Korra as she gave her fiancé a once over, "Though I have to admit, that suit does look good on you."

"Yeah think," as Zan stretched his arms out, "You know originally I didn't like the idea of the suit but after fighting in it, I have to say not bad. I didn't expect it to work so well with me."

"Well feel free to keep it." They both turned to see a woman in a captain's uniform walking towards them, Captain Yoko.

"Captain Yoko."

"We really owe you two for the help," said Captain Yoko. "I would have lost quite a few of my boys if it wasn't for you two showing up when you did. We owe you two quite the debt."

"Oh no," said Korra, shaking her head. "It's kind of just what we do."

"Still we owe you, so if you want the fancy clothes, keep them."

"WHAT?!" their eyes went wide.

Korra pointed to the dress she was wearing, "But the girl who helped me pick this out said it was worth a year of her pay and that's without the shoes."

Captain Yoko laughed, "Ah don't worry about it, it's nothing, really. Heck if you want I can have this ship dock at Air Temple island for ya. You two are still heading there right?"

"What no no no," as Korra shook her head, "That would be way too much trouble."

"Nonsense lacey," they turned to see the cook of the ship, a small portly man holding two boxes. "Here I heard you two didn't get a proper chance to eat some good grub, here take it to go." as he handed both to Korra and Zan.

Zan sniffed the box. "Smells good."

Korra raised an eyebrow. "Okay, what's going on here, what's the catch?"

"What, there's no catch here," said Captain Yoko.

A crew member then ran up to them before saluting, "Ma'am all pirates are secured, we even fished the ones that were thrown in the water."

Captain Yoko saluted back. "Thank you, Sailor."

The sailor was about to leave when he turned back to Korra. "And thank you, Avatar for all your help, also thanks again for letting us have the pirates' bounties." as he turned and left.

Korra and Zan looked at each other. "Bounties?"

They both turned to the Captain and chef as they gave them nervous smiles before the chef slowly stepped away. "So about that drop off at air temple island." said the Captain who was still smiling nervously at the two as if her employee didn't just spill the beans on what they were planning.

Korra and Zan gave her a deadpan look causing the captain to sweat more, before Korra sighed, "Just give us a boat and we'll go."

"Of course um lady Korra," said Captain Yoko. "Uh about the pirates?"

"Keep the bounty."

Captain Yoko bowed. "Thank you, ma'am."

~o~

A few sailors watched as the avatar left on a boat for air temple island. "Call the boss and tell him that the avatar has returned to Republic city."

~o~

"So what you're saying is that Korra hasn't been getting any of the letters we've been sending her," asked Jinora as they all sat back in the dining room.

Tonraq nodded. "Yes, but it also looks like you all haven't gotten a single letter from Korra either."

"No, we haven't," said Tenzen. "Has she sent a few?"

"More than a few," said Kina. "I have been helping Korra ever since she returned to the south pole, I've even helped write some of the letters, she tried to make sure she sent one out once a week, sometimes she would send several of them at a time, she even got a typewriter to try and get them out quicker, though I think it might have made her a little slower."

"Korra." whispered Asami.

Mako then spoke. "But wait we never got any letter, or well I certainly didn't, did anyone here get anything?"

Tenzen shook his head, "I didn't get anything, how about you Asami?"

Asami shook her head, "Did Korra get any of the letters from us?"

"No," said Tonraq, "Even when we weren't in the south pole I made sure to have my people check to see if Korra was ever delivered a letter of any kind."

"Wait, you left the south pole?" Asked Lin.

"Several times," said Kina. "We made trips to the Fire Nation, the North Pole, even to Kyoshi Island, we did quite a bit. Did any of you guys hear about the avatar visiting the Earth Kingdom?"

All eyes went to president Raiko, who thought it over for a moment. "I never got any definitive information but I did hear some wild rumors that the avatar was moving through the Earth Kingdom, but it was just a rumor the only thing I really knew about it was when I heard she visited the Northern Water Tribe."

"Then that settles it," said Tonraq as his expression grew serious, "Someone has been interfering with Korra somehow." This caused everyone's expression to darken for a moment.

"Actually uncle I think it might be worse than that," said Kina. Before she could continue she stopped as she turned her head to the window.

Everyone followed her eyesight, "What was that?" asked Jinora as she stood up.

"Jinora, did you see something?" asked Tenzin.

Jinora looked out the window but didn't see anything. "I'm not sure."

"Korra's here," said Kina as everyone looked at her. "She just arrived on a boat."

For a moment none of them moved before almost everyone made a mad dash to the docks of the island. As the group ran down the stairs they saw Zan and Korra finishing tying their new speed boat to the docks. "KORRA!"

Korra turned the group and had to try very very hard not to start crying as she saw her friends again. She didn't even have time to say anything as Ikki, Milo, and Jinora all rushed her and gave her a huge hug. "Jinora, Ikki, Milo, it's so good to see you three again." She then looked up and saw everyone else. "It's good to see all of you."

"Korra," said Ikki, getting her attention. "Did you really not get any of our letters?"

Korra's expression changed as she looked up and saw Kina who shook her head slowly. "They haven't gotten a thing Korra."

Korra looked down and narrowed her eyes, "Who? Why?"

"We don't know," said Tenzin as he stepped forward. "But Lin has already made a call to the station and has people looking into it right now as we speak."

"We'll find out who," said Mako.

"And we'll give them a piece of our mind," said Asami. "Messing with our mail is just downright rude."

Korra smiled and hugged them both. "Asami, Mako, I've missed both of you."

"It's great to see you again, Korra." Said Mako. "It's been too long."

"Yeah you've changed so much," said Asami as she looked at Korra and noticed her outfit. "By the spirits, Korra, that dress is gorgeous."

"Yeah, it was a gift from the crew ship we saved," said Korra, showing them her new fancy blue dress. "According to the girl who helped me pick it out, she said it was really expensive."

"Oh yeah," As Asami examined the dress. "This is quality right here, this would be a dress you don't wear for just any occasion."

Korra's eyes went wide, "Okay wow, I feel like I should switch out of it before I ruin it."

"I'm sure that can wait," said Mako. "We all have a lot to talk about."

"Can't argue with that."

Zan couldn't help but smile at Korra reuniting with her friends, with her family, when he noticed three pairs of eyes staring at him. Milo was giving him a stick eye, Ikki was smiling like a maniac, and Jinora...Jinora didn't know what she was looking at.

Ikki turned around and grabbed Korra's arm excitedly. "Korra Korra Korra, is this, is this?"

Jinora turned to Korra. "Korra, who is she?" as she pointed at Zan.

Everyone was confused by Jinora's statement while Korra, Kina, Tonraq, and Zan's eyes widened as they looked at Jinora before Zan expression softened as he leaned down and put a hand on her shoulder, "You must be Jinora, Korra told me a lot about you, about all of you. I guess if none of you have heard about me before then I must come as quite a bit of a shock. My name is Zan and it's an honor to meet you all."

"Right," said Korra as she took Zan's hand, "Everyone let me introduce my fiancé, Zan. We have so much to tell you."

"Oh my yes," said Pema as started clapping her hands. "Come in, come in, we should be having this in the living room, not on a dock, come in." As she gestured for everyone inside.

"Sure one second, let me grab our things." as Zan reached into the boat.

Mako then hopped into the boat. "Here let me help you out." as he held out his hand.

Zan shook his hand before handing him a bag. "Thanks Mako."

"It will be quicker if we all help," said Lin as she held out her hand for a bag.

Zan froze for a moment as he looked at Lin before glancing at Korra who made a face as the two had a quick silent conversation, Zan then quickly handed over the bag. "Sure, thanks. We don't have much, just two bags and I guess two boxes of food." as Zan grabbed the two boxes of food. "Still smells good."

~o~

"Okay, okay, okay." Pema sat everyone around in the living room. "Zan, tell us about yourself, where are you from?"

"Oh I'm from the Earth Kingdom," said Zan, causing Prince Wu to step forward a little too close for comfort.

"Oh you're one of my people huh, well don't you worry, I'll make sure you two have prime real estate when you guys ever decide to move to Ba Sing Se." said the Prince as he twirled his cane.

Zan looked at Korra who just shrugged, "Uh who are you?"

Prince Wu looked horrified, "What? You can't be serious, I'm Prince Wu the next king of the Earth Kingdom, how have you not heard of me?"

Korra turned to Mako and Asami. "This guy is the next Earth King?"

"Yeeeah," said Mako, who was not happy about the idea either. "He's the next Earth King."

Asami cleared her throat, "Despite what it may seem he is the great-nephew of the former Earth Queen and the next in line with the throne."

"Oh," said Korra before turning to Wu. "Sorry we've been kind of busy, so we're not exactly up to date with politics."

Prince Wu then bounced back. "Yeah well I guess that makes sense, but a quick update, that funky evil air-bending guru guy literally choked the air out of my great aunt causing her unfortunate early passing, making me the next in line for the throne." Being very dramatic as he recounted the events.

"Yeah, the same guy that almost killed Korra." as Meelo jumped to the front. "If it wasn't for me, stopping him he would have killed Korra." as Jinora reminded him it was a group effort. "How are you going to stop that from happening again," he pointed at Zan. "Can you even fight, how many people have you killed, which element do you bend?"

"MEELO!" yelled Tenzin as he grabbed his son. "I am so sorry about that."

Zan gave a weak laugh, "It's all good, but as for his questions, I can fight, I haven't killed anyone and well I'm not a bender."

"Hang on back up," said Korra, giving Meelo an annoyed look. "What do you mean that's going to happen again?"

Before Meelo could respond Asami spoke up, "Wait then are you a chi blocker?"

Zan put a hand on Korra's shoulder. "Huh, no I do know some of their moves but I don't really use chi blocking."

"WHAT!" as Meelo used air-bending to get out of his dad's grasp. "Then what makes you think that you're good enough to be Korra's husband?"

"MEELO!" This time it was Pema who yelled, with a beat red face before bowing to Zan. "I am so sorry."

Zan just laughed. "It's quite alright, ma'am. I kind of expected something like this," as his eyes locked with Meelo. "Would you like a demonstration?"

Meelo grinned. "Okay, you and me one on one, outside right now unless you're scared."

Zan shrugged, "Sure." as he stood up before turning to Prince Wu, "May I borrow your cane please." Prince Wu looked confused but handed over his walking stick.

"Is this really necessary?" asked Kina.

"No," said Korra as she stood up. "Don't hurt him too badly."

Meelo puffed out his chest. "Don't worry Korra, I'll go easy on him." as he gave her a wink and a thumbs up.

Korra gave Meelo a look of disbelief. "Yeah, I was talking to Zan."

"This kid is going to get himself hurt someday," said Kina as they followed Zan outside.

Meelo faltered for a moment at their lack of faith in his abilities, he was about to retort when Jinora put a hand on his shoulder, "Meelo, be careful, this guy isn't normal, be careful."

"Why? If he's a non-bender then I have nothing to worry about, I beat those equalist chumps three years ago, I can handle one of them with a cane," he said, overly confident as he ran outside to the training area.

"He's going to lose isn't he?" asked Ikki.

"Ooh Yeah," said Tonraq as he knew what would happen.

This only made Tenzen worried. "Jinora, do you sense something is amiss with Zan?"

Jinora shook her head. "I'm not sure, I just have a weird feeling from her."

"You mean him, right?"

"Huh, yeah, him," said Jinora shrugging off the looks. "Come on, we better go and make sure Meelo won't get too hurt."

Soon all of them were standing outside in the training yard that was surrounded by trees and boulders, with Meelo squaring off against Zan who was wielding a cane. "Okay I want a clean fight between both of you," said Lin as she acted as the referee. "Zan, are you ready?"

Zan spun the cane around in his hand. "Yes ma'am."

"Meelo are you ready?"

"Let's do this."

"Begin."

Meelo jumped and sent two air blasts at Zan, Zan calmly dodged each blast a moment before impact, keeping his demeanor calm and collected, which just annoyed Meelo as he tried throwing bigger blasts of air at Zan with the result being the same.

"Whoa, he is good," said Asami as they watched Zan backflip out of the way from the attacks.

"Those movements do remind me awful a lot like the chi blockers from the equalists," said Mako as he studied Zan's movements.

"Really," said Wu. "To be honest he reminds me of the acrobats that used to perform at my birthday parties."

"Well, his movements certainly are impressive," as President Raiko complimented his abilities. "but they won't mean much if he can't get close."

"He doesn't have to," said Korra, being a bit cryptic.

Zan then dodged one more blast before using the cane to hit a small rock into the air and as it reached the height of his chest, he hit the rock with the cane sending it flying between the blasts of air, hitting Meelo's forehead. "OW!" as Meelo used both hands to rub his forehead before feeling something on his head.

Meelo looked up to see Zan right in front of him, using the cane to touch his head. "Is this good enough for you?" as some of the audience were awed by Zan's skill and some even gave him a small round of applause.

Meelo yelped before rolling backward and jumping back away from Zan. "I haven't even gotten serious," Meelo then started spinning and pulling the air around him, "Try this on for size." as he threw the torrent of air at Zan.

Zan smiled and slowly raised the cane and got into a stance. As he did, Jinora watched each movement as she saw something impossible. "What?" Zan then used the cane to slice the torrent of air in two.

The audience who had just met Zan couldn't believe what they just saw and Meelo's eyes almost popped out as his jaw dropped. "How?"

"MEELO!" Yelled Jinora in horror as she jumped into the arena and ran to her brother. "Meelo are you okay? Where did she cut you?"

"What are you talking about Jinora," as Meelo spread his arms out, "I'm perfectly fine." As he said those words a thin line appeared a crossed his chest, from his left shoulder to the right side of his stomach, as a part of Meelo's wingsuit fell down. "HUH!"

Suddenly everyone heard the grinding of stone as everyone looked behind Meelo to see that one of the stone boulders that circled the training area was cut at the same angle Meelo's flight suit was, clean through causing the top half to slowly slide off the bottom half.

Everyone was silent as they just stared at the boulder, "I love it when he does that." Said Korra, breaking the silence.

"How in the world?" said Tenzen slowly.

Mako went to the boulder and inspected the slice, before turning to Zan. "I thought you said you weren't a bender."

Zan just spun the cane around in his hand, "I'm not, I'm just a swordsman, I only cut what I want to cut."

"A swordsman?" asked Asami who was just as confused as everyone else.

"No way," said Jinora as she pointed at her brother. "I saw you, I saw that woman, you cut Meelo."

"You saw that!?" said Kina in surprise. "It took me two months before I could see it."

"See it?" repeated Asami. "See what?"

"Zan's attack, it's unique, to say the least," explained Korra, vaguely. "Don't worry it's nothing dangerous, he has excellent control over it."

That did not satisfy Jinora at all. "Who are you, what are you?"

Zan gave the girl a warm smile. "Something old and something new." This caused Korra to chuckle lightly and Kina to roll her eyes.

"Can you guys just like not to be so cryptic," asked Prince Wu.

"Take the suit off," demanded Jinora, causing everyone to freeze for a moment, not sure what they just heard.

Zan blinked for a second. "I'm sorry, what?"

"I want you to take your shirt off," said Jinora in an unusually straightforward attitude, which caused her father to faint.

"JINORA!" yelled Pema with her face flushed red, as she gave Rohan to Ikki and went to her eldest, "Sweetie we had a talk about this, remember when you started dating Kai."

Jinora's face turned red. "What no, not like that."

Korra put a hand on Zan's shoulder. "Okay, I'm going to take Zan and get changed as I just realized having you fight twice in one day wearing the same suit isn't a smart idea if we want to keep it long term. It looks like we might already need to clean the pants and shoes."

Zan looked down and saw the new pants and shoes he was given were now covered in a bit of dirt, "Oops."

"Come on, we'll be right back everyone." as Korra took her boyfriend away after he returned Prince Wu's cane.

As they left Jinora didn't take her eyes off of Zan for a second which worried her mother. "Jinora, what's going on, what did you see exactly in that man?"

"I saw a woman," as Jinora explained. "Right before he made that slice, I saw a woman standing right where he was standing, like a spirit was with him or he was the spirit." She then turned to Tonraq and Kina, "That woman I saw was wearing a water tribe outfit with long black hair. Who is she, who is Zan?"

Tonraq looked at his niece who just shook her head, causing the man to sigh, "Look, Zan is a good man, I gave him my blessing after all so you have nothing to worry about, but his story is for him and Korra to tell, not mine."

"Don't worry," said Kina. "They will tell you, you just have to be patient."

~o~

"Wow, you weren't kidding," said Zan as they made it to their room, "She could see me, couldn't she, clearly too."

"I told you she has a connection with the spirit world like no other," said Korra as she grabbed her bag. "I just wasn't expecting her reaction."

"I was not expecting that at all. Makes me kind of worried what their reactions will be when we tell them everything we've been through." as he grabbed a coat hanger and put the suit coat on it.

Korra stepped behind the changing curtain, "Depends are you talking about what we've been doing these past few years or do you mean five hundred years ago."

"Well they both go hand in hand but we should probably wait on the big stuff and ease them into it," suggested Zan as he quickly changed into a light green shirt that had a small zig-zag pattern on the hem and tiny earth kingdom symbols on the buttons near the collar, dark pants and brown boots with a brown belt.

Korra stepped out of the changing separator wearing her usual attire that had been adjusted over the years which included her new betrothal necklace, which was the shape of the moon with Raava carved into it. "Why, don't you want to tell the story of how you got revenge from the thief-"

"Stop," said Zan suddenly as a hand went to his face, "Sorry but can we not, I still have nightmares of when that happened."

Korra slowly took Zan's hand from his face, while using her other hand to brush his cheek, "That was a lifetime ago, you're strong now, not some damsel in distress, you're Zan the swordsman, and this time I ain't letting you out of my sight so easily."

Zan held Korra close. "I love you."

"I know." as Korra and Zan shared a loving kiss. The kiss lasted a few moments before Korra pulled back. "Come on, our family is waiting."

~o~

"Thank you for the information," said a shadowy figure as he hung up the phone as he turned to the other figures in the room. "Despite our best efforts, it seems that the avatar has returned to Republic city."

"What does that matter?" asked a deep voice, a figure clad in metal. "I already have what I need, I'm ready to kill her at any time."

A lady laughed, "You clearly are a bit off if you think you are enough to kill her, but go ahead, try, it will make some good entertainment."

"Do you want to die?"

"Both of you are fools," said the voice of a young man, "We can kill and fight each other after we deal with the avatar, we are not a team or a group but none of our goals will be fulfilled if we don't do anything about the avatar."

"AHAHAHAHA," came the jolly laughter of a different man. "We'll kill her, the question now is who wants to do the deed or at least try first before dying."

The metal-clad man started to head to the door, "I will finish this."

"Hold it," said the shadowy man. "Before doing anything drastic we should see what her first move is."

The metal-clad man didn't stop or turn around, "No, I will get my revenge on my terms, not yours." as he left.

The shadowy figure stared at the door, "I'll send some of my men to watch him, but in the meantime, I suggest you all prepare, cause one of them will fail and war will be upon the world once more, and if it comes to that point I hope you all choose wisely on which side you wish to be on. The side that will burn or the side that will rule."

Next time: Falling Through the Roof | You want to read this now and the chapter after that one, just head over to my page. ~P-A-T-R-E-O-N~ Lorenzo the story teller. There you can read all chapters a head of time and my exclusive stories.

A/N: Okay so anyone who has gotten this far and read the authors notes I thank you, because I know their will be a few who won't and still yell at me but I want everyone to take a deep breath and realize this is fanfiction, I know quite a few of you are going to be of course it is, but we all know there will be at least one that will leave some sort of rotten comment.

I came up with this idea years ago, even before the start of season 4 I have however reworked it to be the new season 4, with new villains and new characters, yes this will have OCs that is because the Legend of Korra series made one error that I will correct and that is not having enough Sokka in the show, I plan to fix that one way or another and having Sokka's story told, of course it will be fanfiction, but still.

I hope you all enjoy it and look forward to more of this story to come.
