Chapter Five
-" How about this, let's ask him to come out and just have drinks with us. Chin & Kono are not on our side, so we won't tell them. We say we are sorry about meddling, yada yada. Once he is drunk, I say Melissa is meeting me later for dinner. She will just happened to bring Lynn. Steve will be so drunk he won't know what he doing. You know Steve knows how to hold his liquor. That's why I asked the bartender to do me a favor and triple the whiskey in his drink. Oh Danny, are you sure about this? We have to get him to come to his senses. We are doing it for him. Then we have Melissa take a picture of Lynn & him hugging. That is all we will do, and that should be enough to put doubt in Catherine's mind and make her leave sooner. Okay, man, I hope it works.
-"Steve tells Catherine Danny called and wants to apologize for his behavior, and he and Lou want to take him out for drinks. I told him okay. Are you fine with this? Yes, Steve, I think it is great that you all are making up. Are you sure you can drink yet? The Dr. hasn't given you the okay yet. I am sure I will be fine for at least one drink. Okay and he is your brother, and I know he will do anything for you. I am glad he has been here for you. He has been a good friend. She truly meant that. Okay, I see you in a couple of hours and kiss her. He was feeling better; he was able to drive now and was close to doing what he wanted to do with Catherine since she came back. He would be getting the stitches out tomorrow and hoped to get the okay to do just that.
-" He sees Lou and Danny at the table and goes over. They man hugged. Steve, we are sorry about what we said and did in regard to Catherine. You are our brother, and we want to see you happy. We will stay out of your love life, and if things work out with you and Catherine, we will be on your side. Thanks, man; I am so happy to hear this because I hate for our friendship to be over because the two of you have been there for me. We always will. I figure you want your usual, so I already ordered, and drinks should be here shortly. Yeah, it will be great to start to do some of my normal stuff again. The stitches should come out tomorrow. How long will Catherine be able to stay? Before you go all superseal on me? I am only asking to see if you will need us to come over and help with your stuff, like cooking and cleaning. Okay man. I hope she doesn't have to go back, but I will let you know. He is still not ready to share with them about their plans.
-"Drinks are delivered, and after two, Steve is really starting to feel a little drunk. He thinks it has been a while, but Lou & Danny know better. Oh yeah, I told you Melissa was meeting me for dinner. Here she is, and oh no, she is with Lynn. I didn't know Steve, she did this on her own. You know they are best friends & Lynn has been needy and depressed a lot, and she hates to leave her on. Steve, in the drunk stage, says it's okay, you all go have dinner. Lynn & Melissa stop by their table first. Even drunk, Steve is not looking at her. Daniel, I thought you all would be finished by now; I hope you don't mind, but Lynn is feeling depressed, so I told her she could join us. It's fine; our table is not ready yet; you all can join us until it is. Is that okay Steve? Yeah, sure. He purposely moved two chairs, one next to him and one next to Steve. Lynn is sitting next to Steve and says hi. Steve, say hello. Lynn said I was telling Melissa about our first date and how you protect me from the gangster. We had so much fun, and I could tell then we were going to be together. Steve just ignored her and said I need to get some water so I can drive home. Waiter, two glasses of water, please.
-" Danny thought they better get a picture before he sobered up. He snudged Melissa, and she said let's get a group pic. She asks the waiter to take it; Danny puts his arm around Melissa, and Lynn lays her head on Steve's shoulder and holds his hand. The waiter snaps the pic, and he immediately removes her hand. Lynn, why did you do that? I am sorry, Steve, but I was feeling nostalgic. He drinks his water and then gets up to leave. After he leaves, Danny says I am sorry, Lynn, but that animal can still hold liquor even if it triples; we still have the pic. Melissa can you post it on social media? We need to find a way for Catherine to see it without Steve getting suspicious we are behind it. It will make her return to the CIA, thinking Steve is still fooling around with Lynn. Let's see, Steve and Catherine aren't on social media so we need to find a way for her to see it.
-"Kono is, but she is on Catherine's side and wouldn't mention it to her says Danny. How are you going to make sure she sees the pic? Lou, any idea? Sorry, man, I don't even know what social media is and laugh. How can we do this and make ourselves look innocent? Rachel likes Catherine, and she is on Facebook every day. I know she looks at your page because she mentioned some of the pics of us on there. She would want to let Catherine know. That great. I post it and make it public so she can download it. Melissa posts the pic. I had fun hanging out with friends and my guy Daniel, and added a lot of hearts.
-"Steve arrived home, and Cath asked how things went. He said fine but didn't mention Lynn being there. Not that he wanted to lie to her about that. He didn't want her to get upset and think he was cheating on her. It was innocent. He couldn't understand how he got drunk so fast and why Lynn did what she did. Enough thinking about her.
-"He grabs Catherine and kisses her with all his might. Cath, I want to make love to you so badly. One more day, Commander to we get the okay from the doctor, I will be all yours. I guess I have to wait, but can we make out some like we did that time on Halloween before Danny interfered as usual. When I got in the car with him, I was so mad. I told him next time to call, that you are over a lot, and to stop barging in when he feels like it. It was okay when you were at sea, but he must stop now. They laughed. They fool out around some but both wanted more but knew they had to stop. Let me get my drunken sailor to bed. Aye, aye, ma'am.
-"She got him undressed in his boxers and on his side. Thank Lieutenant, and I love you. Love you too. She got undressed and laid down beside him and kissed him. She was dreading if she had to leave him again.
-"At his Dr. appt, his stitches were taken out, giving him a clean bill of health with some minor drawbacks. He could eat some food like steak, not too much drinking but moderate; Steve was waiting for the things he wanted to hear. Yes, you can now have sexual intercourse. Steve grinned like the Chester cat. Thanks, Doc. We are going now. Commander, I need to give you a new prescription. It will only be a minute. I'm sorry, but you know how it is and wink. He turned to Catherine, who was blushing. I hope you are ready Lieutenant because when I get you home, I am going to show you how much I miss you. Steve, we are in Dr.'s office; I know, but not for long. He kissed her but heard the Dr. cleared his throat. Here is your prescription, Commander, and see you in two weeks. Sure things, and he was practicing dragging Catherine out of the office. Once he got her in the truck, he kissed her passionately a and said I am going to turn on the siren so I can get there faster.
-"Catherine's phone rang, and it was Rachel. Even though she gave Rachel her number years ago when she used to take Grace to the mall and other outings, she rarely called her. They were sort of friends, and she always liked her. She turned and showed Steve the phone; it Rachel. I wonder what's up. I hope there is nothing wrong with Grace. Hi Rachel, how are you doing? I am fine Catherine. I know we are not close, but I consider you my friend because you have always been good to Grace. You know I love Grace. I thought you should know that I am going to send a pic I found on Melissa's Facebook page. I am sorry to say I do look at it occasionally to make sure Grace and Charlie are with a good person. I admit I may be a little jealous, but all I do is look and nothing else. Anyway, I just thought you should know because I know I would. What kind of pic, Rachel? Check your message. I hope it is nothing. Take care Catherine, and I am pulling for you and Steve. You two are meant for one another. Bye.
-"Catherine didn't know what to think. She checked her message, and there was a pic of Danny, Melissa, and Lynn with her head on Steve's shoulder and holding his hand. She doesn't see Steve is not doing anything to Lynn; he smiling like you do in a group pic. Catherine can't believe it. Steve, you didn't have to lie to me about last night. I guess you are still seeing Lynn and want her back. I will not be a side chick! She is crying. Steve is wondering what the hell she is talking about and what picture Rachel sent her. What are you talking about, Cath? I am clueless. I thought you were meeting Lou and Danny. I did, and there was something about Melissa not wanting to leave Lynn alone, so she invited her to come along. Danny had no idea she was coming and neither did Lou. Can I see the pic? Wait till we get home so you don't wreck this truck.
-"Steve pulled into the driveway; Catherine hopped out and run into the house with Steve behind her. What the hell, Cath? She showed him her phone. Explain this! You are smiling with Lynn with her lying on your shoulder, and you are holding her hand she yell!
-"Catherine, that is not me smiling, and Lynn did this on her own just before the pic was taken. See, her hand is on mine; I am not holding her, and I smile a generic smile, not like I am smiling at Lynn. I don't love Lynn and want nothing to do with her. I love you and want only you. Can we please go upstairs so I can finally show you? I am sorry Steve, I can't. I am confused and hurt and need time to think about everything.
-"She went upstairs to pack. I am going to get me a room at the Hilton. I promise I call you when I am ready to talk. Please take your meds. With that, she kisses him on the cheek and walks out.
-"Don't go, Cath he begged as the door shut. He is furious because she is leaving when he is finally ready to show her how much he loves her. That damn pic ruins everything. He grabs his keys and heads to the office. Cath had called an Uber to pick her up. He walks into the office, and everyone is shocked he is there. They come out of their office and Kono say Hi boss, we didn't know you were coming in today. Did the Dr. clear you for work? No, but I did have my stitches removed, and almost 100 percent.
-"Kono, can I see you in my office? Danny starts to follow her, but Steve says, Danno, I talk to you later. What up, boss? Are you on social media? Yes, can you sign in from my computer and go to Melissa's page? Danny Melissa, yes. Sure, what's going on, boss? Rachel saw a pic of us from when I met him and Lou for drinks last night. She sent it to Cath because she thought she should know. She didn't do it out of malice, she always liked Catherine and thought I might still be with Lynn. I swear I didn't know Lynn was going to be there; I was a little drunk because, for some reason after two drinks, I was not drunk enough to do anything with Lynn and for her to think I wanted her back. At the last minute, she put her head on my shoulder and her hand on mine. I was only smiling generically and not because of Lynn. Catherine is upset and confused because she thinks I might still have feelings for Lynn and can't let her go. I promise you I don't.
-" Kono signs in to her account and goes to Melissa's page. She had not only pinned that pic to be the first to see, but boss looked at her comment, and there was one from Lynn. Lynn said I had so much fun hanging out with my handsome Commander. He knows how to show a girl a good time. Melissa commented we have the two handsome guys in Oahu who are the leaders of Five -0. Keeping us and everyone safe with hearts emoji. Steve slams his fist on the desk; are you fucking kidding me? Why would they do that? Melissa knows I broke up with her, and Lynn sure as hell knows it. I don't know, boss, but they put your business out there for all to see. Can I get this taken down or deleted? No, I can't, only she can, but! But what, Jerry might or might not know someone could. I would say Toast, but he is Danny's guy, and would tell him. Find Jerry to see if he can do it and ask him not to say anything.
-"Kono, I wasn't ready to tell anyone yet, but I know I can trust you and Chin. Catherine was forced to join the CIA and lie to me. You see when the building fell on us. I found the CIA man's responsibility. I never told her or anyone what I did. Remember I left you all at Kamekona, and Cath asked me if I needed to be somewhere. I told her I had something to do, brushed her off, and left you all. I went to the building and was supposed to meet the CIA man who promised me some answer about Doris and Wofat's mother.
-"When I got there, he was not there but another man. It was Doris' old boss in the CIA. He was trying to cover up his mistake with Wofat mother so the agency wouldn't find out. He was higher up in the food chain. He told me he saw I survived this time, but there won't be a next. He pulled the gun on me, but I was faster. I shot him first and left. I expected the CIA to come looking for me, but they never did. I assume they knew he was dirty and wanted it swept under the rug. They used this to blackmail her, telling her if she didn't join, they would put me in a black box for the rest of my life and take down five-0. You know Catherine, she was never going to let that happen. She sacrifices herself for me and us. She didn't know what I did and felt like I didn't really love or trust her enough to tell her.
-"They let her return for the wedding, and when she came back, she was so happy that I still wanted her. She tried to find some way to make a deal where she could stay but still work for them. The CIA in charge was friends with the guy I shot, and he refused. She either join them or we go down. Wow, that sounds like our girl. I knew it had to be something because she would never leave you.
-"I made a mistake Kono, and realized I took her for granted. She is it for me, and I love her. I listened to others when I shouldn't have and got involved with Lynn when I knew I didn't love her but got tired of the constant pestering and pitiful looks. We are working on a plan now, Joe, Cath, and even Cath's dad, to find a way to get her out of it. I didn't want to say anything until I was sure, but I know I can trust you. You can boss and let me know if you need my help. I have been rooting silently for you two to find your way back to each other. I miss the old Steve, and she smiles. She hugged him; I will see what Jerry can do about this pic.
-" Danny is watching and wondering what that is all about. He goes into Steve's office. Is everything okay? He wondered if Danny had set him up, but he did not want to accuse him until he knew for sure. Everything is good; I need Kono to check on something for me. Care to share, not right now, but it has to do with work. Okay, Steven, how are you doing? I am doing okay. How is Catherine? She is doing okay; she is visiting an old Navy coworker at the Hilton. Danny said okay but was suspicious Steve wasn't telling him everything.
-"Steve stayed in the office. He texted Catherine and told her he loved her so much and that he was sorry for any pain he caused. Please don't leave me again, he needs hers. He tried calling Joe but got voicemail. He also checks in with his contacts to see any updates on their plans. He said nothing yet the director has been busy dealing with a crisis overseas, and no one can get her ear right now. He will keep trying. Steve thanked him. He leaves and says bye to the team.
-"Melissa called Danny to ask him if Steve had said anything about Catherine being upset about the picture. He said no, but he was acting strange. I am not sure what is going on, but I will find out. Tell Lynn not to do anything crazy because that will only piss Steve off. He is pretty sure Catherine is going to have to leave soon
-" Lynn is tired of being patience and ready to make her move. She happens to be at the Hilton having lunch with a friend. She sees Catherine at the receptionist's desk, taking a room key from them. She thought that all was not well in paradise, and she moved into a hotel. She stands back and watches her go upstairs with luggage. She is beyond giddy because she thinks she saw the picture and left Steve.
-" She calls Melissa to let her know what she just saw. She said Danny said Steve mentioned her going to the Hilton to meet up with an old Navy bunk mate, so maybe she was just going to stay the night. Okay, that might be it, but I am going to hang around to see if I can find out any more. Rem what Danny said, Lynn, don't do anything crazy. I promise I won't. Lynn sees Catherine come down for lunch, and she is sitting by herself with no friend in site yet. Maybe the friend is not coming till later. So, she hangs around.
-"She needs to find a way to let Catherine think Steve talked bad about her in public and how he was all over at the private Valentine's dinner. Danny had said he had never done any PDA in public, especially at a restaurant with a lot of people. She saw the waiter who was so nice to them that night. She must have two jobs. She calls her over and asks if she remembers her.
Will Lynn get the waiter to help her with her plans for Catherine?
