Chapter Eleven

-"The next morning, they went to their appt with the catering. Surprise, Kamkeona was there. What are you doing here, Kamie? This is my aunt's business, and I help her out from time to time. So, Big Kahauna, it took you long enough to put a ring on my favorite customer's finger. You're right, big guy. I told you to do it a long time ago, but did you listen to me? Ok, Kamekona, will you show what is on the menu besides shrimp? Surprisingly, the menu had a great dish and what they were looking for. They told him they would go with him and pick out their favorite dishes on the menu. They knew his food would be great.

-"Next was the flowers. They get there, and it is Filpa. What are you doing here? My Aunt owns this flower shop, and I help her out from time to time. How many aunts do you all have, and do they own their own business? Why? We left Kamie and your aunt catering. He smiles; you know how it is McGarrett never too much business, and we are a family. What can I do for you? They made their flower selection, and Plumeria was definitely on the list.

-" Next, the videographer and photographer. How may I help you? We have an appt for a videographer and photographer. You are not related to Kamekona or Filpa? Why yes, why do you ask? They are my nephews. They laugh, we are good friends with them and just book flowers and catering. Are you the Big Kahuna and Kaime's favorite customer? They smiled and said yes. He just called to tell me he had just booked a big catering gig, and it was his friend's. Here is what he has to offer and package. They pick out the one they like and thank her. Now they were exhausted and headed back home. We did well today and finished everything on our list. Yes, we did. Team McGarrett and high five. They had lunch and took a nap.

-" Steve was still not up to his usual stamina since the surgery, but he was getting there. The next day, Catherine did a background check on Billy's cousin, and everything checked out. It was just a matter if she should take the job. Steve came back from his swim. I researched Billy's cousin, and he checked out Billy left him half of his life insurance and had some money on his own. He is financially stable, and the company plans are solid. What do you think? Catherine, if you want to take the job, then go ahead. Don't worry about me feeling jealous or neglected. I just want to make sure you are happy in whatever you do. I will meet with him tomorrow to talk to him some more before I decide. Thanks Stev and I don't know what I do without you. He kisses her, and you never have to find out.

-"Steve decided not to go back to work till Wednesday. He asks the guys to meet him at the tux shop. He did ask Danny to be his best man and Lou a groomsman. They both were overjoyed they were going to be in the wedding. Catherine goes to meet with Willie and then will meet the girls at the dress shop. The guy was getting fit for a tux. They had decided their color would be navy blue and white. Danny was complaining as usual, why do we have to get fit for Tux and you don't? I told you I am wearing my dress white so try it on so we can get out of this shop. They all finally had their tux. Steve also asked Danny if Charlie could be the ring bearer, and he said yes. Both his kids would be at the wedding, and that makes him happy.

-"Catherine met with Willie in what would be their office if she took the job. Thanks for coming Catherine, and I hope this means you will take me up on my offer. Not yet, I want to check the place out and talk to you some more before I decide. Sure, he had that same smile as Billy. Here is our portfolio right now, and as you can see, we have plenty of clients to keep us busy, but I want to grow the business also, and that is where you come in. You will have an assistant and three other employees. Let me show you around. This would be your office, and it was huge with nice furniture. Everything looks on the up and up. I am getting married in 3 months so I will need time off for my honeymoon. Will that be a problem? No, not at all. I think I have everything I need to make my decision, and I let you know by the end of the week. Thanks for thinking of me for this job. You are welcome, and I hope to hear a yes from you soon. Bye. Catherine was going to talk to Steve again before she made her final decision.

-"She felt a little faint, and that was unusual. She made it to her car and rested for a minute, drinking some water she kept in the car. She wasn't feeling well, so she texted Steve and told him she was heading home. I thought your dress appt was today. I am going to call and see if I can move it to tomorrow. I text everyone. Are you sure you are okay? Yes, probably the sushi from last night, and I have been going nonstop, and I didn't eat this morning. We are about done here, so I should be there shortly. She called the bridal shop and was told tomorrow would be fine. She texts the girl and apologizes for rescheduling but she thinks she has food poisoning and needs to rest. They all said no problem. She got some crackers and ginger ale and laid down on the sofa. She didn't even hear Steve when he came home. He didn't wake her and put a blanket over her. He was slightly worried but hoped it was just food poisoning. A couple of hours later, she finally woke up. Hey, sleeping beauty. What time is it? Are you feeling okay? Yeah, much better, but it's been Sushi. I fix you some soup and get you some tea. Thanks. Did your appt reschedule for tomorrow? Yes, they were very accommodating. I will be back shortly. Catherine drinks the tea and eats some of the soup. Steve helped her upstairs and helped her get dressed for bed, and she went straight to sleep in his arms.

-"The next day she was feeling better. She told Steve she could make the dress appt today. He made her drink some tea and grilled her some cheese toast, and she ate it all because Steve wasn't going to let her leave unless she did. Everyone was at the dress shop. Catherine finally found the right dress, and it was beautiful on her. The other ladies found beautiful bridesmaids that they did not like the ugly ones they had seen others wear. She called Mary and showed them the dress and also sent the info to Mary's store. She would go by tomorrow and do the fitting. They all were super excited about the dress and wedding. After Catherine changed and was dressed, she came out and fainted, but lucky Kono was next to her and caught her. They were all scared and got her to wake up and gave her some water. Kono had medical training. They called Steve, and he was in full panic mode; he told Cath to go to Tripple emergency. She wanted to argue, but he wasn't taking no for an answer. Kono drove them to Tripler and told Rachel, who brought Grace that she promised to update them. Steve was there a couple of minutes after them; they knew he must have driven faster than usual and over the speed limit. Cath, are you feeling better? Yes, I think I could have gone home. I was probably too excited about the dress. I don't think so; you had the same sympathy yesterday. They called Catherine's name and she went back; Steve wanted to go back but they told him he wasn't allowed. He pulled out his badge and said I am the head of Five-0. Catherine said Steve, I will be alright and they will come get you as soon as I am through with the exam. Okay, and he went to sit next to Kono. She going to be okay boss. She has too.

-"They took her vitals and asked her some questions, took blood, and urine analysis. The Dr said he would come back when he got the result. You can get dressed now, and if you want your fiancé to come back, he can come back. Sure, that would be great; otherwise, he probably breaks down that door, and they laugh. Commander, you can come back now. He held Catherine's hand when the Dr began to talk. I got your blood back and urine and back. I have to tell you they were on pins and needles, that in 7 months you will become parents. They look at each other what? How is that possible? Dr said when a man and woman engage in and Steve said I know that part Dr. It just that Catherine is taking the shot. When did you last take the shot? Before I left Afghanistan so I would be good for four months? Which shot did you take? She gave him the name. Well, there was a recall, and an email should have been sent to you, or the Dr. should have called you to let you know a batch that was made was defective. I would guess yours was part of that batch because it was primarily overseas. Steve, I didn't know she look at him with shock on her face I never got an email, and maybe I missed a call from overseas with everything going on, but I know the doctor wouldn't pay for the cost to call, so they probably emailed. I hardly check my email since I been back with everything we had going on. Cath, I am thrilled you didn't get that email. I want to be a Dad, and I hope you feel the same way about being a Mother. I know we just got back together, but I want this from day one with you. Really! yes, and we are going to be the best parents. Dr. said good, now that's out of the way. Would you like to have a printout of your first baby pic? Yes, please. I need you to make appt with your OBGYN, and she will be able to give you the due date and the sex if you want to know. Congratulations. Thank you so much. Smiles all around, Steve grabs her and kisses her. Wait, Kono is out there, but I don't want to tell anyone yet until we get the due date and know everything is good. Right, let's say it is a stomach virus going around. You need to rest and stay hydrated. Yeah, that should work. They walk out hand in hand. Hey Kono, sorry for scaring you. Is everything okay? Yeah, a stomach bug that going around. He gave me something for nausea, take it easy and hydrate, and it should work its way out of my system. That's good, Cath. Thank you again. Steve will take me home. I text everyone and let them know so you won't have to worry about doing it. Thank and I appreciate it .

-"They couldn't wait until they got in the truck and looked at each other with a goofy face. I can't believe it; God is smiling at us; first, no CIA, we are getting married, and now we are going to be Mommies and Daddies; I never thought those words would come out of my mouth before I met you. I am going to wait on your hand and foot. Steve, I am not even showing yet, and I can still do stuff probably till 8 months, so you don't have to go overboard. I know, and I try not to hover. Let's go home so I can put you down for some rest. She reaches over and kisses him, you are amazing. Catherine rested the next day. She did have to throw up, but now she knew the reason. She was better in the afternoon. Steve asks her if she wants him to wait to go back to work till another week. No, Steve, I am fine; this is t normal. Are you sure, yes I am.

-"I better call Willie and let him know I am pregnant because he probably rescinds the job. You think he do that, although I am not sure you need to be working until the baby is born. She gave him that look; you do know women can work till the baby is due now, caveman. Yeah, I know, smart-ass, but this is our baby, and I don't want anything to happen to you or the baby. It wont. Yeah, some jobs don't want to hire pregnant ladies. Isn't that against the law? If you already hired, there is nothing they can do. She picked up the phone and said this is Catherine. I just found out that we are expecting a baby in seven months, and if you want to change your mind about hiring me, I understand. Congratulations, so I assume you will take the job. She looks at Steve, hold one sec for me. Steve, I think I want the job. I checked it out, and it seems like it is a fit. He said I trust you Cath, so I don't have a problem with you taking it as long as you don't do any strenuous work and will cause you too much trouble. She said yes, if the offer was still on the table, I take it. That is awesome and thank you for agreeing. When do you want to start? How about in two weeks? I have some appt to take care of. That's fine, and if you need more time, just let me know. Hey Willie, could you keep a secret about the baby? We are not sharing the info just yet. No problem and I see you in two weeks. Okay, that's done; all I have to do is send the invitation out. For everyone at the office, I think I have you deliver them; I will mail Mon & Dad, and Mary a hard copy. Everyone else email. Do you want Danny to bring Melissa to the wedding? I guess it will be okay because we are putting the announcement in the Navy Times and the local paper. I forgot the local paper call and want to do a photo shoot to go with the announcement; It seems we are Oahu celebrities. Whatever you want, Lieutenant, I am all in. Good. I am tired, so I am going up to bed; you can stay down here if you want. I think I will for a little while and tinker on the marquee.

-"He has been thinking about how he teaches his kid how to swim and even drive like him. Although Catherine probably kills him on the last one. All is right with the world. Steve went back to work on Wednesday. He passed out the invitation to everyone and dropped Duke one also. He called Danny back in; everyone welcomed him back. Welcome back buddy, so glad you are back to leave. You remember I am on light duty, no field, right? Yes, but you get to do all the paperwork and make the hard decision; I, for one, am glad I don't have to do anymore. They laughed. Hey, Catherine, and talk it over, and if you want to bring Melissa to the wedding, you can. We are not concerned about Lynn finding out because the local paper is going to feature our announcement in the paper. Thanks, Steve, that's great because she was not happy, I went to the engagement party without her. No problems. Anything else. Did you talk to Catherine about Lou and me stopping by? Well, she has been really busy with the wedding and she is starting her new job in two weeks. Really, I thought she would come back to Five-0. No, she doesn't want that or cause any problems with the team. She is working at the company that Billy had, and he has a cousin who took over. That's great, but I hope she didn't come back to Five-0 because of Lou and me. Not really, she just remembered the last time there were a couple of times you were upset because she went to me first when we were in danger; she knew you didn't mean it, and Lou wasn't happy about what I did to him when she got kidnapped. I know we moved on, but she wants something on her own. Sure, but Danny felt bad because he did to that to Catherine for no reason. Steve was her man, and she should have gone to him first. Okay, buddy, I will get to this paperwork, and I let you know when Catherine has a date. Sure, later. Steve was busy doing paperwork all day and directing the Team; It felt good to be doing something. He occasionally looked at the copy of the sonogram on his phone and was smiling to himself. Kono caught him one time and wondering what was on his phone that cause him to keep smiling like that.

-"The day ends, and Steve heads home to find Catherine sleeping on the sofa. For sure, it had to be the baby because she never slept like that. He went into the kitchen and started dinner. Dinner was ready when she woke up. Hi, I guess this baby is making me tired. I stopped by and got us some books so we could read and help us through the pregnancy. You did. You know you can read books online now, I know, but I like the hard copy myself. She leans up to kiss him; I do, too, sometimes,
