Chapter Twelve
-"A week has passed. It was the day with appt with OBGY to get their due date and the sex of their baby. He has told the team he would be in later today. They both were nervous but trying not to show it to each other. Catherine was in her thoughts, thinking no way she thought they would get back together, getting ready to get married and have a baby. Her heart was filled with so much love for him. Steve, in his own thoughts, wondered how he could not have gone after her, fought for her, and let others push him to move on, but he is so much at peace now. They are getting married and about to have a baby. He wanted to be a father for a long time, but only if Catherine was his mother. They were called in by the nurse. They had her sit in the exam room and took her vital. Steve leg was shaking just from them doing that. Looking with a cowl on his face because he thought she might be in pain from doing that. She looked at him and smiled, " Commander, I am fine. The nurse turned and looked at him. This is just routine stuff, but wait until the Dr gets here. Then, you can go into a panic mood and smile. Steve said, WHAT! She said I am kidding, just trying to get you to dr. will be in shortly.
-"Dr. Jones arrived and took the chart. Lt. Rollins and Command McGarrett, thank you for your service. Let's get you to lay back on the table, and I am going to put some jelly. It will be cold. Steve had moved so he could be beside her and hold her hand. I promise it won't hurt. You two ready to see your baby. They looked at each other and said yes. Let's do this. She was able to move the scan, and they could see the monitor, and both were overwhelmed. Here we go, there is your baby. It small now. Their eyes are full of joy of tears. Let's see if we can see the sex, and do you want to know? They both had decided they did and would prepare for the nursery. Okay, the baby is shy, but I think I got it. You want to hear the heartbeat of your son. They screamed YES. They are having a baby boy. Steve was already thinking of all the things he would do with his son. The heartbeat made the tears flow even more for Catherine. Steve was trying hard not to show all his emotions in front of the Dr. he turns head just a little and swipe his eyes. He had heard that Commander was a force to deal with it and a badass, but he knew even the hardest of men would fall apart on becoming a Dad, especially if it were the first. Commander, your secret is safe with me, and she winked. I print you out a copy and email you one also.
-"The baby is doing good, and your due should be around December 30th. You need to start talking about taking prenatal vitamins; I recommend a brand, eating healthily, and exercising but not extraneous. Be prepared for mood swings, crazy cravings, and usually increased libido. They both blushed; that definition won't be a problem, said Steve and winked at Catherine. I assume that means it is okay for us to still make love. The Dr. noticed Steve used to make love instead of sex. He knew this couple was genuinely happy about the baby and loved each other deeply. Yes, commander, that is correct, but as the baby grows, it might start getting uncomfortable for the Mother, so always make sure she is. I promise I will, SIR. I get the baby printed out, and I see you in a month. Thanks, Dr. Once the Dr. left the room, he helped her off the table, and they kissed and hugged. We are going to have a boy, and I can't wait to see little Stevie. We are not calling him little Stevie but we will work out a name that both of us agree on. I did read in the book we should pick a name to call before we officially name it. It makes it seem real, and we can talk to him using his real name. He will know he was loved from day one. Okay, you got anything? How about baby seal? Um, let's me think, baby seal. I think I like it. Baby seal it is then. They kissed, and the Dr. came back in with the printout sonogram. Thank you. They walked out holding hands. When do you want to tell people? Let's wait till next month. That was only a week ago. I want us to have this between us for a while longer. Okay, but it is going to be hard for me, you know. I want to start bragging already. I know, Commander, but you have to keep your bragging right for another week. Okay, Lieutenant let's get you home so you can rest. I need to stop and get prenatal. After that. they arrived home. Steve made her lunch, and she lay down on the sofa. He kissed them and got ready to go to the office for a half day. Text me when you wake up and let me know how you doing. I will bye Commander, and I love you. Love you too.
-"Steve walked into the office with an extra pep in his step with a huge smile plaster on his face. Good afternoon all. What got into you said Danny. You are even goofier than you have been since Catherine's came back. I am just happy, and for the first time in my life, all is right with the world. Not even you, Danny, can bring you down with your negative thoughts. He laughed and made his way to his office. It's good to see him finally so happy; it has been way too long. They continue working on a case. Danny did go in to his office later. What did you do this morning? None of your business. Well, if it had to do with Barry White, I don't want to know, but I have a feeling it was something else. Danno, it is none of your business, and don't you have a case to work on? I do, but I don't like it when you keep secrets from me, Steven. Oh, like you and Lou did. I said I was sorry, man, so you need to believe me. I do Danno, and sorry for lashing out. I am not telling you what I was doing the morning because it is none of your business, so drop it. Okay, I will. Do you think Catherine is ready to talk to me? We got all the wedding stuff nailed down, and she started work in a week. I check to see if you want to come over one day this week. Okay, buddy. Yeah, that will be good. Now get out of my office so I can do my paperwork. I am going but look at Steve's suspicions. The rest of the team asked if he found anything else, and he said no. He had very tight lips about it, so it must be huge.
-"Steve came home, and Catherine was reading one of the baby books he brought her. I thought you said you were going to read online. It was nearby, and I didn't feel like going upstairs to get my pad. Right, and he leans over to kiss her. Good nap. Yeah. When do you think you want to Danny or Lou they keep asking. I was thinking, how about having everyone over for a barbeque on Sat? I will talk to Lou and Danny and hear them out. This way, I can get it out of the way and done in one day. That sounds good. After we eat, we can tell them about the baby. Steve, if they say one thing not nice about the baby, I will not be able to get past it, or at least for a long time. I understand, Cath. I will email the Team later. I hope you had plenty of rest so I can make sure we get our time in before you get too uncomfortable. She hit him on the arm. He sends the email to the Team. Lou came out and said did you all get the email from McGarrett? Yes Lou, all of our names on me, and they laughed. It has been a long time since we all hung out together. Do you think we should ask if we could bring plus one? No, I think maybe this is the time he wants us to be able to talk to Cath with no plus one in tact; Yeah, you're probably right. I am excited and can't wait.
-"Saturday came and everyone was there. First, Danny asked Catherine if he could speak to her in the kitchen since everyone was out back. She said yes, and Steve's eyes followed them. I have no excuses for my behaviors, and I apologize for all the ugly things I did and for helping Lynn. I was wrong, and always knew how much you and Steve love one another; I was just trying to protect him from getting hurt again. I am not going to lie to you Danny; I never thought you would say such hateful things to me; I was your friend and coworker too. I love you and Grace like family. I accept your apology, but please know it might take some time to go back to the way things were. I understand and I will never do something like that again. They hugged, and he went out back but he still felt like it would be a long time before the friendship was truly restored. Lou came in next. Catherine, I am so sorry for everything I did and said about you. I was wrong. Renee told me from day one not to get involved in Steve's life, and I had no idea what went down and why. All she knew was that Steve loved you, and you loved him. For the record, she never liked Lynn. I promise you I will never do anything to hurt the two of you and especially you again. I am truly happy for the two of you. Thanks Lou, that means a lot, and you have a wise wife, so make sure you listen to her. Like I told Danny, I accept your apology but know, it will take some time to go back to the way things were. I understood and they hugged. He left to go out back. He knew that him and Danny had made a mess and would take time. Steve came in and hugged her. Everything go okay? It did. I know they both meant what they said and I accept their apology but I told them it will take time to go back to the way it was. Are you ready to send them in another shock? Yes, let's do it.
