Chapter Seventeen
-"Steve's plane landed, and he didn't call the parents to let them know he was coming. He got an Uber and was at the door. Mrs. Rollins heard the doorbell ring, and it shocked to see Steve standing there. What are you doing here Steve? Catherine is still upset and resting. Mrs. Rollins, please hear me out; I just found something out that will make everything clear. She always liked Steve, so she lets them in; at that time, the Admiral walks in from his study. You shouldn't have come, son. Sir, please just let me explain. They told him to go ahead and they sat on the sofa. He explained what happened and played the tapes. Mrs. Rollins, I didn't want to believe it, Steve; you have always been an honorable man. I am sorry we doubt you. I regret I ever got involved with Lynn. I had her leave the island, and if she contacts Catherine or me again, she is going to jail. Can I please go in to see Catherine? I promise I won't upset her. I show you to her room.
-"He walks in and sees Catherine lying on the bed with her back turned, but she is not sleeping. He walks around. Hi Cath. What are you doing here, Steve? Shouldn't you be with Lynn? Catherine, please just listen to me. I love you and our baby. It was a lie and a trick by Lynn and Mellissa. The recording you heard was altered. Please, listen to that actual recording. He hit play and Catherine can't believe it. Steve is standing up for her and Lou & Danny are saying nice things about her and the baby. How did Melissa record the conversation that night? Danny & Lou didn't know about it. Anyway, way, Melissa gave it to Lynn, who hired some guy to alter the one she sent you. She won't bother us ever again; I made her leave the mainland and told her she would go to jail if she came back or contacted one of us again. I love you, Catherine, and our baby so much. I am so sorry you keep getting hurt by Lynn. I just want to be with you. Will you come home? Catherine has tears streaming down her face. I should have trusted you to know you would never say anything like that. My hormones are all over the place, and I guess part of me was still jealous of Lynn and thought maybe you did want to be with her. Never Catherine, please believe me, when I was with Lynn, I was not with her; you were always in my mind, wishing you were there. I am ashamed of myself for letting Danny & Lou get in my ear and thinking they knew what was best. You were gone, and I didn't know why; I felt abandoned again, and like I wasn't worthy. We have to forget the past because I am not letting you go and our baby. He kisses her and puts his hand on the stomach. I come home but need to wait a couple more days for me to get some strength back. Anything you want, Lieutenant. I am not leaving without you ever. I love love you. I love you too so very much. He crawled in best with her and hugged her from behind. Her parent peeked in the door and both with smiles, and knew their daughter would be alright now.
-"Three days later they head home. Catherine called her boss and explained what happened, and he told her she could come back on Monday. He himself had a crazy ex. She was thankful. They arrived home. He had texted Chin & Kono that they were coming home, but he wasn't going back to the office till Monday and call him if anything urgent came up. Steve carried her upstairs because he just wanted her in his arms. He helped her get into some sleeping clothes so she could take a nap. He kept kissing her because he was so happy to have her home. He went downstairs to prepare some lunch. Danny & Lou had been texting him every saying they were sorry about what Melissa did. He sent them a quick reply saying they were not at fault. He called them later. Catherine was his priority now.
-" He was ready to get married now, and he was going to ask Catherine if they could go to the courthouse but still have a big wedding as they planned; he just wanted her to be his wife asap. He hoped she would say yes. After her nap, he took lunch up to her. He said you need to make sure you eat it all. Yes, Dr. and she smile. Hey, I want to run something by you. I really want to get married like tomorrow. I can't wait to be your husband. We can still have the big wedding later on. I like it, and yes, we can. I can't wait to be your wife. Let's do it Commander. He said tomorrow? Yes tomorrow. Love you, and you are so beautiful, Cath. They ate lunch and later worked off some calories. Steve claims since he hadn't swim or ran in a couple of days, he needed her to help him burn some calories with that half cock smile she loves so much. She was happy to comply. Wait, I need to get you a ring. That would be perfect. We are getting married he yell! Yes we are and he gave her a passionate kiss. Do you mind if I ask Chin & Kono to be there? They have been on our side from day one. What about Lou and Danny? I know they are sorry and we forgave them. For this wedding, I just want the people who have been on our side from the day. I don't want you to be thinking about any bad memories because of them. Okay if you are sure but if you want them there, I will be okay. I am okay with Chin & Kono. I will let everyone know we are still going to have the second wedding. Danny is my best man, and hopefully, he won't be too mad because I will need him for the bigger wedding. I am sure he understands once you explain it to him. I let my parents know. Also; I let Mary. I won't tell Danny to after and remind him he will be my best man at the bigger wedding so he doesn't feel too left out.
-"He texted Chin & Kono, and they replied immediately, try to stop us with the emoji hi-five. Her parents said they could fly out later tonight; they said it was too much for a short ceremony, and they would see them at the bigger weddings. They agreed to wait. Mary also wanted to come, but Steve calmed her down and said she would have to do too much and try to get there with Joan in all. She said okay, but she wanted pics. He said okay.
-"The next day, to their surprise, Governing Denning is there to perform the ceremony. Chin had called him and asked him to do it. Steve said SIR, how did you know? Let's just say one of your team members said I wouldn't want to miss the day when McGarrett got married and smiled. Thank you Sir. Lt. Rollins, you still can back out. Not in this lifetime; there is no place I rather be.
-"Kono had some plumeria flowers because that is what Steve requested. Catherine was wearing a nice Chanel white dress. Steve was in a blue suit. They save the fancy stuff for the next wedding. You all ready. They both said, ready and smiling from ear to ear. Governor performs the standard wedding vows, but before he finishes, Steve looks at Catherine; I have loved you since the first day I laid eyes on you; you are my greatest joy and you change my life for the better. I tried to fool myself. I could go on without you, but that only lasted a day. I will never leave your side and will take care of you until I draw my last breath. Catherine was crying, and so was Kono. Catherine said Steve, you are the best of me, and you made me know what it means when to loves you unconditionally. You are an honorable man, and I am so happy that you chose me to share your love with. Governor had them exchange rings, then pronounce husband and wife, and he kissed the bride. Kono was filming, and Steve took one of the flowers and put it behind her left ear, and they kissed. The governor said okay. enough of that now; save some for later. Everyone laughed. They took a pics with all of them in and separated. The local reporter just happened to be walking by and saw that it was the Commander and Lieutenant getting married. She asked if she could run the story along with a pic. They agreed only if she put in there they were having another wedding later with all their friends. She agreed to run it that way.
