I was getting ready for the upcoming day. One thing that I knew that Stefan and Damon were doing was going to this park building thing. I wasn't entirely sure what such a thing entailed. I was also pretty sure that Mason was going to be there and he probably wouldn't be happy to see us after Damon stabbed him. That was a pretty inconsiderate thing to do. I thought maybe I should go and try talking to him because he seemed like he liked me and maybe he would listen to me, even though I had my doubts about that.
"Are you sure that you should go to this?" Rachel asked.
"I am very unsure, but I like I should go to make sure that Damon doesn't anything stupid." I remarked.
"I don't think that you can prevent him from doing that." She pointed out. The thing was that I didn't really have any other plans. There really wasn't anything else that I could do. I started to get dressed for some yardwork, because that was basically what it was. It was just a very big yard that we would have to work on. "I know that I'm not going to go."
"Well what are you going to do then?" I asked her.
"I don't know but as soon as I figure something out, I'll call you." She promised. That made me a little bit worried about her. I also wasn't sure if Jamie would be at the park building thing or not. I didn't know if Elena would make her go.
Another reason that I wanted to go was to figure out what was going on between Stefan and Elena. I wanted to know what they were doing now that they knew Katherine was having Caroline spy on them.
I then headed to the park to go talk to Damon. I couldn't help but wonder if him apologizing to Mason would make things better. However, I wasn't sure if Damon would even do that because he really wasn't someone who did apologies. The only person that I had ever seen him apologize to was Jamie.
The first person that I noticed was Mason, but before I could talk to him, the mayor started her speech.
"This is all part of the Historical Society's continuing efforts to give back to the community." Mayor Lockwood announced. I still was surprised that being the mayor's wife qualified her to be mayor, but she seemed she was doing okay. "Thanks to a generous donation from the Fell family, we are now standing on the site of our newest public park. Thank you to everyone who has shown up today to lend a helping hand."
I couldn't help but wonder where the Fell family was. I didn't really know any of them, but it didn't look like any of them were there. Maybe they thought that giving the donation would get them out of doing any of the work. That was kind of sleazy. At that point, I walked over to Mason.
"Hey Mason." I replied. "I thought that maybe we could talk."
"About what?" Mason asked.
"I know that my brother acted impulsively." I stated. I didn't know if he knew that Damon and I weren't siblings, but I didn't really care.
"You think?" He challenged.
"I'm trying to broker peace." I stated.
"Sorry, not interested." He declared.
"If you keep fighting someone innocent is going to end up dead, How about we stop this silly rivalry and have a truce?" I declared. I was pretty sure that this wasn't going to work.
"You know I gave your brother that same offer and he turned it down with a knife." Mason pointed out. "Tell your brother to watch his back."
At that point, I grabbed him as he tried to walk away.
"Maybe you're the one who should watch his back." I countered. "It's not a full moon and there are more of us than you."
"If he comes at me…" Mason started.
"He won't." I promised. I held out my hand and Mason took it before he walked away. I still did not think that I trusted him. Damon then appeared behind me.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"I'm trying to fix your mistake." I answered.
"I don't want it fixed." Damon whined.
"Then consider it Opposite Day." I quipped. At that point, Stefan also came over.
"You two can't really be naïve enough to think that he's just to going to stop, can you?" Damon inquired.
"No I think that as soon as he gets the chance, he's going to try to kill us." Stefan commented. "So thank you for that."
At that point, my phone rang. It was Rachel. I assumed that she was calling to tell me her plans for the day.
"Hello?" I answered.
"So if you want to get away from the park for a little while, Kelsey said that we could come over." She offered. I hadn't seen Kelsey in a little while outside of school, so I thought that maybe I should do it.
"Just let me ask if Jamie wants to come first." I declared. It was probably a better idea than being around Mason right now.
"Of course you would ask her since you have a crush on her." Rachel teased.
"I'm just offering the invitation to her in case she doesn't have anything to do." I replied with a blush, even though she couldn't see me blushing. At that point, I hung up on her. I then called Jamie.
"Hi." She answered.
"Do you think you might want to come to hang out with me and Rachel at the Lockwood house? Kelsey invited us over." I explained.
"Sure." She stated.
"Great. I'll be right over to pick you up." I told her. It wasn't her birthday yet, so she couldn't drive on her own. It wasn't a date even though Rachel would likely going to say that it was one.
Once I got to the Gilbert house, I realized that I probably shouldn't wear what I was wearing. I also didn't have enough time to go and get some of my own clothes, so I would have to wear something of Jamie's.
I went inside and changed into a black cardigan and red skirt. I had already covered my streaks for the park thing.
"So why exactly is Ms. Rogers inviting us over?" Jamie asked. I was pretty sure that Jamie didn't have any classes with her.
"Well she doesn't really have very many friends." I declared. It probably would be a good girl for her to make some friends her own age, but that would have to wait until later. "Let's get going."
We then went to the Lockwood house. I wasn't entirely sure what we were going to be doing there. I found that Rachel seemed to be standing outside waiting for us.
"I thought that you would already be inside." I remarked.
"I thought it would be better for us to just go in together. At that point, I ran the doorbell. I probably needed to ask Kelsey how she was adjusting to living there. I was pretty sure that she didn't really have a choice. I just hoped that they weren't going to make her change her name. She came down and answered the door. She was wearing a yellow sundress.
"Hi." She greeted us.
"I hope you don't mind that I invited Jamie to come." I remarked. I probably should have asked her first.
"It's fine. I'm just glad that you came over." She told us as we all stepped inside.
"So how are you dealing with living here?" I asked her.
"Well it's definitely been an adjustment. It's a lot bigger than what I'm used to." She explained as we walked around.
"So there's something that I want to know." Jamie stated. "Has Mason told you at all how you become a werewolf?"
I supposed that knowing such a thing would be useful. I was also curious about it myself. How did someone turn into a werewolf. I knew that you had to born one, but since Kelsey wasn't already one, there had to be some sort of trigger.
"Well you kind of have to kill someone in order to become a werewolf." Kelsey replied. Oh. I would think that was something that she didn't want to do. "It almost happened after the accident because I was driving and Caroline almost died. How is she doing? Is she still adjusting?"
"No, she's pretty good other than the fact that Katherine is blackmailing her." I explained.
"What about you?" Kelsey asked as she looked at Jamie. "Brandy told me what happened. How are you doing?"
"I'm okay." Jamie replied as she looked at me. "I mean I did have my period and that kind of sucked."
I was glad that I had never had to deal with something like that, but I was at least sympathetic about Jamie having to do it.
"Also my birthday is tomorrow." Jamie added.
"It is?" Kelsey asked in surprise. "Well how about we throw a makeshift birthday party for you? We can order some pizza and I can get some cake for you."
It was definitely not what I was expecting for us to do, but it would probably be a good idea to have a small intimate party because I was pretty sure that Jenna was planning a big one for her 16th birthday. I wasn't sure where we going to have it though. I also wasn't sure if she would like because she would have to wear a pretty dress and be the center of attention. At least she would get a car out of it.
So Kelsey quickly went to the store to get some cake and then she returned in time for the pizza to get there. I kind of expected her to get some party hats as well.
"So the store didn't have any sort of party hats. It turns out that it's not the easiest to do these things on short notice." Kelsey explained. Yeah that was usually how things worked. There was a reason why they called it party planning.
"I'm okay with there not being hats." Jamie replied. "I haven't even really thought much about what I'm going to be doing tomorrow. It scares me a little."
"It'll be okay. You're not going to have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable." I told her. "Besides, I will be there and so will Anna."
"Yeah, you're going to have both of your girlfriends there." Rachel quipped. I blushed and rolled my eyes about that.
"So what happened with you and Elena?" Kelsey asked me.
"I thought it wasn't worth it anymore to pursue her after everything that happened with Stefan. I think she's happy with him anyway." I explained. Yeah, it hurt a little that she chose Stefan over me, but I had moved on. I did not like Jamie though even though Rachel seemed to be intent on making that happen.
At that point, I decided to have some of the pizza. It was pretty good pizza. Mystic Falls didn't have any big chains, which usually resulted in better pizza since the recipe wasn't mass-produced. I was pretty sure that the people who made it were Italian as well. I had tried to learn Italian in the past, but I never really got that far into it. Even though my family had Italian roots, I was more American than anything and I had never been to Italy. I couldn't help but wonder if I should try to go someday.
"So what is Anna doing today?" I asked Jamie.
"I was pretty sure that she was going shopping to get me a birthday present." Jamie answered. I knew that Anna liked to do things big and she would probably get something really nice. I hoped that it wasn't too nice to the point where people would question how she got the money for it. "Did she say what she was going to get me at all?"
"No and even if she did, I wouldn't tell you. You're just going to have to be surprised by it." I told her as she pouted a little.
After we were done with the pizza, we started to have some cake. I knew what would really go good with it would be some alcohol, but Jamie was a minor and Rachel and I were supposed to be. Technically, my body was also 19, so even if I wasn't pretending to be a high school student, I would still be too young to have any alcohol.
"So whose blood was it that healed Caroline?" Kelsey asked. We probably should have been talking about this stuff more with her, but Damon didn't really trust her any more even though she wasn't actually a werewolf. There was just a possibility that she could become one in the future and even that seemed unlikely since I didn't think that she wanted to kill any living people, so it was probably unlikely that she was going to even become a werewolf.
"It was Rachel's." I replied. I couldn't help but wonder if she wanted to thank her for it. I didn't know if Kelsey had any desire to become a werewolf. From what I heard, Mason didn't seem to think that it was very fun. "You know I'm sorry for just leaving you like I did."
"I understand. You had to help your family." Kelsey explained. "I don't hold anything against you."
"There's something else that I need to tell you." I added. "My mother is alive and in town. I only found out recently and I'm sorry that I didn't tell you sooner."
"How is that possible?" Kelsey explained. I mean technically she could have just been alive normally because she wasn't too old to be alive.
"She's a vampire." I replied. "That was why she disappeared, because she knew that my dad hated them and she didn't want to be around me and my brothers either."
"How has that been?" She inquired.
"To be honest, we really don't have much of a relationship." I admitted. "It's not easy for me to be around her. I know that it was for my own good, but she still abandoned me and I'm still upset at her for it."
I knew that was probably something that I should talk to Rachel about. The other thing was that I still needed to find a good reason for me to be around her and what relation to me she could be. At that moment, I couldn't help but here that someone came inside. I looked to the entrance I saw that Tyler was here.
"What's going on?" He asked as he saw that all of us were gathered in the living room. I supposed that it was a bit of an unusual sight.
"We're having a little birthday party for Jamie." Kelsey explained.
"It's your birthday?" Tyler asked.
"Tomorrow is." Jamie explained.
"Well happy early birthday." Tyler replied before he headed upstairs. He was probably going to go into his room. I didn't know what he was going to be doing up there, but it was also possible that he just wanted to get away from all of the femininity in the room. It would be pretty awkward to be the only guy in the room.
At that point, Jamie accidentally knocked over her soda. It didn't break anything, but it did spill some all over the carpet.
"Damn it," Jamie remarked.
"Hey, it's okay." I explained. "Rachel and I will go upstairs and get some towels."
At that point, the two of us walked upstairs to go into the linen closet. We grabbed some towels. Unfortunately, right before we got to the stairs, Rachel collided with Tyler who was going to the bathroom or something. It turned out to be in the worst possible spot because she ended up being knocked down the stairs. I was pretty sure that I heard her neck snap because she was out cold. Tyler looked shocked. Jamie and Kelsey also looked shock, but I was pretty sure that both of them knew that she would heal.
"No." Tyler replied. If Mason had told him too about how someone became a werewolf, he had to be freaking out. He looked like he was freaking out. "No. Get up. Wake up. You have to wake up."
It seemed like an eternity before Rachel finally started to breathe again. I was pretty sure that I heard Tyler a sigh of relief.
"What happened?" She asked weakly. I gave Rachel a tight hug because I had to pretend that I was worried about her. "Did I fall down the stairs or something?"
"Yeah, but you're okay." I explained. It was at that point that my phone started to ring. It was Elena.
I decided to go outside to take it.
"Hello?" I asked.
"I need you to come to the park because I'm pretty sure that Stefan and Damon are in trouble." She explained.
"Okay. I'll be right there." I promised. I took Rachel and Jamie because I told Tyler I was taking Rachel to the hospital. "I need you to go and take Jamie home. I am going to the park to save Stefan and Damon."
I ran over to the woods near the park and I happened to get there just as I noticed that Mason had Elena in a headlock while Caroline looked on in surprise.
"Careful, necks snap easily around here." He stated. At that point, I came over and started to beat the crap out of him. If I had more time, I probably would have snapped his neck, but I didn't really have the time for that. I needed to make sure that he was unconscious before we could go and save the two of them.
"Sorry, I'm late. Do you know where they are?" I asked. I assumed that we were going in the right direction.
"I think so. They're this way." Caroline replied as Elena and I headed behind her. We finally stopped in front of this underground chamber. That was where I started to hear voices.
"They're not going to tell us anything. Just kill them." Sheriff Forbes remarked. How had she found out about them? Then again, it was possible that Mason had told her something. I had to admit that it was creative, but it made me want to kill him more.
"What's going on?" Elena asked as I remembered she couldn't hear it like the two of us.
"It's my mom." Caroline replied as if she was in shock. "She's killing them."
"We have to stop her." Elena remarked.
"Elena, no she's going to find out about me." Caroline whined. That was not the most important thing at the moment. Elena then ran down there and I could tell that Caroline would need some convincing.
"Caroline, I am prepared to kill whoever I have to in order to save the two of them. If you don't want that to be your mom, then I need you to help me."
At that point, the two of us ran down the stairs as fast as we could. The deputies pulled up their guns and Caroline and I both bit into one of their necks. I was glad that I was wearing red because it would make the blood a lot harder to see. I would still need to wash it before I gave it back to Jamie though. At that point, Sheriff Forbes seemed to see Caroline because she dropped her gun in shock. Yeah she had now found out.
"Hi Mom." Caroline stated.
The next few minutes involved Elena and I getting the wooden bullets out of Stefan and Damon. It was a good thing that I also wished that I had some way to wipe the blood off of me. I couldn't help but think what Rachel was going to say when she saw me. Once the bullets were out, Damon started to drink from one of the dead deputy's bodies. I supposed since they were already dead, it wouldn't hurt for him to have some in order to get his strength back. I just sat and watched.
"Oh that hits the spot." He declared before he looked at Stefan. "You need some deputy blood."
"I'm good." Stefan replied.
"No, Damon's right. If there was ever a time to break your diet…" Caroline started.
"He said that he didn't want any!" I retorted. She didn't know what happened last time he had blood.
"This is a mess." Damon replied as he looked over the carnage. "We've got two deputies dead and you…what are we going to do with you?"
"Can you get Caroline away from me?" She requested. Was she that upset about Caroline being a vampire? Granted, she had just watched her kill someone.
"She's your daughter Liz." Damon replied.
"Mom, you can't tell anyone. He will you. Mom? Mom?" Caroline asked.
"Then kill me!" The sheriff shouted.
"No!" Caroline argued.
"But you were going to drag it out so painfully." Damon pointed out.
"Damon, don't." I reprimanded him.
"Relax. Nobody's killing anybody." Damon assured us. He then whispered in her ear. "You're my friend. Now we gotta clean this up."
It was then that probably for the first time in his life, Damon had a good idea. He was going to keep Sheriff Forbes locked in the dungeon until the vervain passed for her system so we could compel her to forget what happened. He really needed to use his brain more often because that was probably a better idea than anything that I could come up with.
It was then that I went to my room to check on Rachel.
"Is there any particular reason why you have dried blood on your face?" She asked.
"You don't wanna know." I told her. "Also Caroline is here, maybe you should go see her."
After she went down and I got done with the shower, I decided to call Kelsey because I needed to explain to her what happened.
"Is everything okay?" She asked me.
"Not really, Mason tried to kill Stefan and Damon." I explained. "Well he mainly got Sheriff Forbes to try to do it. We have her locked up in the boarding house right now. Whatever you do, don't tell him anything. I know that he's your uncle, but I'm your friend and I need to know that I can trust you."
"Okay, I won't tell him anything." She promised. "So how's Rachel doing? It's kind of freaky how she can just heal like that?"
"She's fine." I answered. "I'll talk to you later."
So I knew that our next order of business was probably dealing with Mason. We would have to find the right time to kill him, but I was also concerned with Jamie's birthday. Maybe we could wait a few days because I didn't want to go after him while he still had just guard up.
The other thing that I knew that I still needed to do was try to connect with my mom. Kelsey never got a chance to connect with her father and I was pretty sure that Rachel would want to hug her parents again if she got the chance. I would need to let go of past resentment, but I knew that it would be pretty hard.
On top of that, there was still the issue of Katherine, that would have to wait for a little while until we got the Mason thing sorted out. There was just so much drama right now.
So Brandy managed to help save Stefan and Damon and Tyler doesn't know the only reason he didn't become a werewolf was because Rachel isn't human. Now they have to deal with Mason. Please don't forget to review.
