Janja's POV
I opened my eyes and groaned.
I had no idea what happened. The last thing I remember was me and my furbrained clan staring into an endless white abyss.
But the moment I stood up, something wasn't right. Looking down, I saw that I was on two legs.
WHAT?!
How? I'm supposed to be on four legs, not two. Well, at the same time, I was kinda surprised at how easily I was able to adapt to it. Huh. Maybe this might not be so bad, I smirked. Then I remembered. Chunga and Cheezi. Those furbrains. Where were they?
Before I went looking for them, I took a moment to examine this place. The area was dark and narrow, and there was trash everywhere.
"And I thought the Outlands were bad. This is worse." I told myself.
I couldn't just stand here. I had to find those furbrains. I didn't care if they were mostly useless. They were still my friends.
"Chunga, Cheezi. We're are you guys" I called out only to get no response.
Then, I saw this weird, and small, four-legged thing running around on the ground but stopped when it faced me. It almost had the appearance of a lion, only with no mane. Now that's very interesting. Maybe this guy could help me.
"Hey you. You didn't happen to see two hyenas like me runnin' around, did ya?"
The thing just squeaked a few times before it eventually ran off. With my front paw, I facepalmed. "Ugh great. Now what am I gonna do? I don't know where I am, I'm on two legs, and I can't find those two..."
I was cut off by a muffled voice. "Janja."
That sounded an awful lot like Chunga. I turned my head and saw this big box with a lid on it. It flung open and out popped the heads of my clan.
"About time you showed up furbrains. I was startin' to worry about you two. Now get outta there." They obeyed and we all set our sights on finding that pesky lion cub.
But I couldn't help but ask myself, where do we go? How would we find him? Where would we go to look? If I was right about this, this was all just a prank and Kion was still in the Pridelands while me, Cheezi and Chunga would be stuck here forever.
But I calmed my mind and looked around for any other path that we could take. I soon spotted something on one of the two giant walls in between us.
I walked up to it and placed my ear up against it. The reason why was because I was hearing what sounded like footsteps heading our way.
Turning to my colleagues, I told them to hide. We found a good hiding spot and watched as the thing opened and this weird creature stepped out of it.
If I remember correctly, I believe it was called a human. I'd only heard certain rumors and stories about these creatures. How they would hunt down animals in the Pridelands and sell their skins for profit and eat their innards. Gross.
But there was nothing threatening at all about this human. He looked like he was just going about his day, but I had a plan.
When he was done throwing away whatever he had in his hands, I made my move. I snuck up behind him and, once he made eye contact with me, punched him square in the face, knocking him unconscious.
Wow. I'm starting to like being on two legs already, I thought to myself. I never knew it had this many benefits.
I then ordered those furbrains to drag the human behind the box we were hiding behind. We entered the opening and closed it shut. Once inside, we were quickly met with the sight of something that we rarely get to see in the Outlands,
Colors.
In every shade you could imagine. Even though it was dark, the colors were almost providing a light of their own.
There were coverings everywhere. Of all shapes and styles. I vaguely remember the stories that Shenzi used to tell us about the fact that unlike us hyenas, humans had to wear what they called 'clothes' to cover themselves because they don't have fur like we do.
But as we stood there, scanning our this strange place, I had an idea. Since we were in here and we're standing on two legs, maybe the three of us could put on some of these clothes to disguise ourselves.
I mean, wouldn't want to have a bunch of humans panic and run at the sight of three hyenas would I, as entertaining as that might sound.
"Alright furbrains. I've got a plan. Why don't we disguise ourselves with these clothes so that way we can blend in more easily? Who knows what would happen if we were spotted out in the open?"
They both nodded their heads in agreement. "Yeah, that sounds like a great idea boss." Cheezi said.
I smirked at them. "Alright. Let's see what we can find." With that, we started our little 'hunt'.
Kion's POV
I lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling, thinking about what my parents and my sister were doing right now.
Everybody else was asleep except for me. Fuli and Beshte were asleep on the couch, while Bunga took the comfy chair. And Ono was asleep on a perch that Luna found for him.
Leo and Stella were of course all sorts of happy that Luna was allowing the rest of the guard to stay in the house, just as long as things didn't get too hectic.
My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on my door.
"Yes?"
The door opened to reveal a scared looking Stella. She was clutching a plush version of Fuli in her hands and her legs were shaking.
"Oh, hey Stella. You ok" I asked the human girl.
"Um…K-Kion. I…uh…I had a nightmare…and I was w-wondering. C-could I sleep with you?"
I felt my cheeks burning redder than my mane. But she was my friend, and I didn't want to make her feel ignored.
"Um…sure Stella."
She immediately, and quietly, ran forward and jumped into my bed.
"Do you wanna talk about it?"
"Um…sure" she answered rubbing the back of her head.
She proceeded to tell me everything. She said that she saw an image of my great uncle, Scar. I shuttered at that name. I recalled the time when dad told me about Scar. After he got his scar, he started to grow jealous of my grandfather Mufasa, and ultimately killed him by spooking a stampede of wildebeest.
Anyways, I continued listening to Stella and what she saw in her nightmare.
She was in the Outlands, hiding behind a rock, looked at what she said was a lava pit.
But that wasn't all, she talked about seeing Janja and his clan, along with a cobra, two jackals and three crocodiles.
They were all standing in front of the lava pit where above them was a fiery image of Scar floating in the air.
But sadly, Stella said she didn't have enough time to listen in to what they were saying as she tripped and fell on the ground, alerting the enemy to her presence.
"The hyenas, jackals and crocs closed in around me. I heard Scar's evil laugh echo in my ears. Just as Janja was about to bite down on me, I woke up. But I just don't know why I'd see something like that?"
Stella's voice was cracking as tears threatened to fall from her eyes. I frowned and wrapped my arms around her. She gratefully returned the hug and we stayed that way for a bit.
Eventually we pulled away and I put my hands on her shoulders and looked into those beautiful eyes of hers.
"Stella, I promise. If Janja and his clan find us, and they try and hurt you, Leo or Luna, the Lion Guard will be there to stop them. We'll protect you. I promise."
The human girl then reached out her hand and showed her pinky finger. I again tilted my head. I probably didn't know the majority of human customs. Was this one of them?
"Pinky promise?" she squeaked.
I smiled as she took my paw and put my pinky around her own. So that's what it is.
"Pinky promise."
The two of us laid back down on the bed and fell asleep together.
"Goodnight Kion."
"Goodnight Stella."
Janja's POV
Wow.
These things are a lot easier to put on than I imagined. Although it did take a while to find what we were looking for. But we were able to find the clothes we needed so we could finally hide in the proximity of those pesky humans without being noticed.
We snuck out through the way we came, our little friend thankfully still unconscious after I made Cheezi go and check. But suddenly, a loud wailing sound reached our ears from the distance. And it quickly went from one to seven. As much as I wanted to go out there and confront who ever it was, I also knew that we were dealing with humans here. Another thing I specifically remember Shenzi telling us about, was that humans were dangerous creatures that carried long wooden sticks that shoot thunder.
And I was not about to take that risk. So, I acted in my best judgement, and the three of us climbed over a wall and dropped onto some grass as footsteps headed our way. But thankfully, since we were behind a solid structure, they didn't spot us. But I did hear some voices. "Alright. I need a full sweep of the perimeter. I want whoever was behind this robbery arrested pronto."
"Yes sir." said multiple male voices.
I quietly chuckled to myself. These humans were l even more stupid than I thought. They couldn't even spot us.
"Alright furbrains." I said to my crew. "Let's get out of here. We can loose these humans if we hide in those trees." I said, pointing to the massive forest in front of us.
They both nodded but Chunga in particular held a look of skepticism. "Uh…but boss. Where exactly should we go once all the humans leave?"
I couldn't really blame him for asking me that. I didn't really know where exactly where we were going except the trees. Not to mention it was dark, and even if we did end up going into the forest, there would be no direct path in front of us.
I figured it would be best if we stayed in the more lit up areas of this place so we could at least see where we're going. With that in mind, I turned to my colleagues. "Alright furbrains, here's the deal." I brought my colleagues in and began whispering to them about what we were going to do. With our plan all thought out, we hurried off into the trees.
