(Chapter 5)
The throne room was in discourse, the Olympians were arguing. No voice could be heard over anyone elses. Percy stood in the centre of the throne rooms emotionless. To him there was silence.
Three? Three great prophecies?
Percy just couldn't understand it, how could he be the centre of a third great prophecy. He found out he was a demigod less than a decade ago and yet, he would have to save Olympus three times.
"Right that's it."
Percy hears a British voice in the background but pays it little attention.
"Get down here now you old hags."
There's a flash of light and now Percy began to tune back in to the world, and to his shock, the fates were stood in front of his adoptive father.
"What the hell of you three done?"
Lucifer angrily berates the fates who tried to look unfazed but ultimately failed in doing so.
"I'm sorry milord but this wasnt us."
The gods had stopped arguing at the return of the fates, but now their silence was deafening.
"How? The fates are supposed to be the ones who feed the prophesies to the oracle of Delphi..."
Apollo was confused, thinking that he didnt know how his own oracle worked...
The fates were about to interrupt until surprisingly Percy spoke up,
"It was your mother wasn't it? Ananke? The personification of fate. You three just weave it."
The fates shook their head, leaving an dark feeling in the air...
If something above the primordial of fate was controlling this... It meant only one thing.
The gods all looked scared, knowing the only person above Ananke.
Percy remained emotionless and one person in the room looked bored.
"Seriously Dad? God, Chaos whatever you want to call yourself. This poor kid has done enough."
There was suddenly a void-like presence in the middle of the throne room. It was like all light had been sucked into the middle like a black hole. All the Olympians were pressed against their thrones, leaving Lucifer and Percy (who admittedly was slightly shaky) standing in the middle at the expanding swirling darkness in the middle.
The darkness continued to expand until it suddenly stopped and popped. The darkness released and spread throughout the room.
Everyone began to blink and when they opened their eyes and stood in the middle of the room was a woman.
She radiated power, and the Olympians knew exactly who she was straight away.
This was the creator, the original primordial being.
Chaos.
She had deep black hair and pale white skin, her eyes shimmed with the colours of nebulas. She wore a long black dress decorated with stars and galaxies.
All Olympians knelt down in front of the deity who looked bored until turning to face her son and the one she may have just screwed over.
"Well well mother, choosing the female form today?"
Lucifer asks.
The woman turned to Lucifer with a soft smile,
"Of course son, you know that this is my true form, its just that Christianity imagined me as a man so I became that form as 'god'"
"I dont care about that mother, I want to know where you've been!?"
Lucifer looked angry and the woman looked sadly at him.
"I'm sorry son, I had to let you take your own path. You will know why eventually."
Choosing to worry about a frustrated looking Lucifer later, she turned to Percy with a smirk.
"Why do you not bow to me hero?"
She said with a slight chuckle.
Percy looks angry and replies with anger, not caring about the status of the person in front of him.
"Because you've made me a hero of another prophecy? Why the hell are you screwing me over like that?"
Chaos began to laugh softly, before beginning to laugh harder and harder. Leaving the everyone confused, the powerful Olympians had no idea how to react. They were unsure whether or not to stay kneeling or stand up.
"Oh get up Olympians, I hate bowing just get back in your thrones." Chaos said as if reading their minds.
They all embarrassingly get back into their thrones.
"Well Percy Jackson, if I did not then this planet would be destroyed by the upcoming threat."
There was an uncomfortable silence in the throne room, a threat powerful enough to destroy the planet was not one they wanted to face, especially not so soon after the giants and titans.
"But why me? Why would I be the difference maker?"
Chaos smiled,
"I unfortunately cannot tell you that, as it is your fate. All I can tell you is that this is your destiny. I'm sorry young one, but this is how it must be. Why do you think I told you to go to Lux to meet my son."
Percy looked shocked, the voice that changed his life, led to him meeting Lucifer, gaining the extra powers he did not like to speak of. It was down to Chaos, it was part of her plan.
"I should have known that was your doing mother." Lucifer said with an unreadable look on his face.
She gave him a knowing smile before turning back to Percy.
"I truly am sorry, but without you, Olympus, your family, they would all be destroyed."
Percy looked disheartened, all his life it was war after war. All he wanted was peace but alas, he would not get it. He did not want to fight for Olympus, not after all they've put him through.
He steeled himself,
"I refuse to serve the council that betrayed me. Zeus is corrupt and power hungry and cast me out purely because I would not swear loyalty to Olympus even after fighting their past two wars. HE MADE MY OWN MOTHER FORGET ABOUT ME!"
Tendrils of power lashed out and the Olympians felt aura that he did not have when he was last in the throne room.
This Percy Jackson was more dangerous and more powerful than he was before.
Zeus felt disrespected and chose to shout back.
"How dare you say that in my own throne room! Lady Chaos herself has said that you will fight for us."
Percy was about to retort when Chaos did for him.
"Well Zeus he actually doesnt have to. I will not force him to fight for anyone. You see, Percy is technically now my grandson. And I will protect him, his family and anyone close to him in the void if he chooses jot to fight."
Most the Olympians suddenly looked panicked, yes Percy's fatal flaw was loyalty, but did that apply to them after the betrayal?
Half of the council had been good to him, the other half turned on him. Maybe Percy and Chaos would have mercy and help the good ones find solace in the void.
Everyone looked at Percy with baited breath, waiting for him to make a decision.
He sighed, accepting his fate.
"I will fight for you..."
Zeus let out a relieved sigh,
"But I have terms."
Zeus gritted his teeth,
"Fine, name your request."
"Requests actually. As in plural" Percy corrected before carrying on.
"Theres a lot I want before this is sorted from a lot of you. Firstly, I want Hades and Hestia to get their thrones back. Hades has done a lot for me the past three years and Hestia the eldest, she deserves a spot on the council."
Zeus already looke ready to argue but Percy was on a role.
"I want you to make my mother remember me again, otherwsie there is no chance of me fighting. Let me have full access to Olympus. Oh and Artemis I am sorry to ask this of you, but I have dearly missed my cousin, do you mind if I spend some time with the hunt so I can see Thalia again?"
Artemis nodded slowly, telling herself it was for the good of Olympus.
Percy turned to Lucifer,
"And you, as great as you have been to me, apologise to Artemis, she did not deserve what you did to her."
Lucifer looked at Percy smirking, remembering that Percy was not afraid of anyone and will call people out if they do something he deems wrong.
He turned to Artemis with actual remorse,
"Artemis I am truly sorry, I only did what I must to get me alone with Percy, and it was the quickest way."
Artemis was shocked. Not only at the devil himself for apologising for something which Artemis was kind of happy about, learning her truly desire was helpful in a way. No, she was shocked at the man who continued to shock her. Percy made the devil apologise to her? He didnt need to, but he did. Artemis was more than happy to let Percy in the hunt, he was a man like no other. And maybe Artemis could payback the kindess that he showed her. After all, she would hate to be indebted to a man. Thats all it was right?
She nodded at Lucifer as Percy turned to Chaos herself.
"And you, I apologise for my disrespect earlier, but I was angry. I understand now."
Percy bowed but Chaos waved him off,
"No need to bow young one, this world rests on your shoulders, if anything I should bow to you for continuing to protect my favourite planet. Now Zeus, your end of the bargain please"
Zeus sighed before clapping his hands, an additional two thrones appeared for Hades and Hestia who suddenly appeared in their thrones. They were surprised until the saw Percy and smiled. They knew the young demigod had something to do with this.
"Thank you but now you have another issue, this threat is more dangerous than any you have ever faced."
Everyone looked to Chaos who once again took to centre stage.
"Gaia falling has caused discourse among the primordials. Some see their sibling falling as a reason for the reign of the gods to fall, and yet some see the fall of Gaia as necessary for what she has become. I myself stay neutral as me picking a side will lead to, ah issues we will say. But I dont want a civil war or for you Olympians to fall. Despite your... flaws..."
Chaos glanced at Zeus.
"You all do a decent job in charge."
"What does this mean for Percy?"
Poseidon asked with concern for his son who he had only just been reunited with.
"Well this war will be different... With the civil war, we have the likes of Tartarus, Erebus, Ourea and Pontus who wish to avenge Gaia. Whereas the side that want the earth to stay how it is include the likes of Aether, Hemera, Chronus and Nyx."
Percy gulped, his last interaction with Nyx was in the house of night and he did not remember Nyx being a big fan of his.
As if Chaos read his mind she smirked,
"Don't worry hero, despite being initially frustrated at being tricked she admires your bravery and looks forward to meeting you again. But other than that there is more, when the doors of death were open, a lot of titans escaped. Luckily Kronos' essence is still in pieces, but the likes of Hyperion, Krios and some not even seen during the war will be fighting for destruction. Thankfully the rest of the primordials have chosen to remain neutral. However, just like Gaia it will take time for some of them to wake, so they will send titans, monsters in an attempt to weaken your allies in the camps. We must fightback but keep it tactical. And this is where Percy must come in..."
The gods looked to their only hope who stood in the middle of the throne room unwavering so far,
"I'm sorry Percy but you must be our leader, our general, our assassin. You will have to remove as many advantages as possible from the side of destruction. You gods are bound by the ancient laws but the primordials are not, so Percy must be the one to fight them should he have to."
Percy looked down, unsure if he would be powerful enough to do this. He felt a hand on his shoulder and was thankful for Lucifer being there.
"Lucifer however, is also not bound by the ancient laws. He may have different powers because he is of a different pantheon, but I can ensure you that he is amongst the others in power and can fight them one on one if needed."
Hermes suddenly perked up with an idea,
"What if we make Percy a god? He would have more power and it would be easier for him to fight for us? And Chaos with your permission could he be exempt from the ancient laws?"
Chaos considered this for a second before smiling,
"Oh I could definitely let that happen, why don't you all vote on it."
Zeus looked reluctant but was too scared to turn down a request from the creator.
"Anyone have any protests to us making Percy Jackson a god?"
There were no objections.
"In that case as King of the gods I declare Percy Jackson a go..."
"No."
The Olympians looked down at Percy who said no.
Next to him, Lucifer was smirking with what must be an inherited look as the same on was on Chaos' face as if they both knew he would turn it down.
"WHAT!? You would literally be a god not tied to the ancient laws? Why would you turn us down? Are you stupid?"
Percy glared at the king of the gods.
"5 years ago to the day, I turned down godhood for not just the good of minor gods. But also because I did not want immortality, I may no longer have Annabeth but I would still like to live and grow older while I can. So once again, I reject the offer of godhood."
Zeus grumbled but most were unsurprised, if anyone would turn down godhood for the second time, it would be Percy Jackson.
"Rejecting Olympus, the twice hero's path will diverge. A part of the prophecy is now complete, it is time for Percy to do his own thing, be his own man. He will work with you all I'm sure. But until the first sign of war emerges, you all must prepare."
Percy smiled, hopefully the rest of the lines of the prophecy were that easy.
"I must now return to the void, I will provide help or wisdom where I can but you all must do this on your own. Good luck Olympians."
She turned to Percy and Lucifer,
"And you two, first my son. I am proud of you, you have built a life here on earth and with this young demigod you have found the kindness I thought you had lost."
She hugged Lucifer who had a gently smile as he embraced his mother.
Chaos turned to Percy,
"And to you young hero, I trust you. You will do what is right in the end."
Chaos left Percy wondering what she meant with that last line before disappearing into mid-air leaving Olympians, the devil and the hero of them all in the middle of Olympus. Wondering what the hell just happened.
