Hello everyone I'm here with a new potter story

Yes you read right not a one shot this time

Though it'll still be a short not a long epic or anything

So recently I've been reading a lot of Dudley has a magical child and him making amends with Harry

I thought it'd be fun to do my own take on that so here we go

You might be wondering about the title

All that will be revealed in the story

Now on with the usual disclaimers

I do not own Harry Potter if I did Slytherin students would have fought alongside the rest of the students at the Battle of Hogwarts that and other changes

Second my brain does not register punctuation when writing if this will be a problem click the back button

Third this is the big one I do not like the Cursed child so it will not be canon to any of my writings EXCEPT for one part the one part you'll see in the chapter below

A Tale Of Two Dudleys

A lot could happen in ten years Harry Potter thought to himself as he tidied things up the living room in his modest home in Portree about this time ten years ago he was laying in his bunk at the Auror academy after a grueling day of training looking up at the ceiling asking himself

Was this really how he wanted to spend the rest of his life

He didn't hate the idea of becoming an auror but he wasn't as enthusiastic about the idea as he had been when he heard about it as a fourth year

Was there something else he could be doing

Harry loved Hogwarts he loved magic and his friends and wanted to help them to do something good for the community so that there wouldn't be another Voldemort

And that's when he had a realization

How he could help the world he loved the one he'd been willing to die for

Leaving the dorms he headed straight for Kingsleys office and had explained what he had realized

Voldemort had only been born because Merope had dosed Tom Riddle Senior with love potions something that Romilda Vane had tried to do to him

Nevilles great uncle Algie had dropped him from the balcony of Longbottom Manor and he barely needed to bring up the multiple abuses that Sirius had endured that made him run away from Grimmauld place before he had finished his Hogwarts education

Through out the conversation Kingsley had remained quiet until the end when he asked Harry what he had wanted to do about it

Harry explained how in the muggle world there were social workers who would remove children from abusive homes and place them with foster parents Harry wanted to start something similar for wizarding Britain so that no magical child ever endured the terrible childhood at the hands of his parents

Kingsley was all for the idea and had quickly set up the Department of Magical childhood welfare with Harry along with a few of his fellow recruits becoming its first welfare officers

For muggle parents Harry had helped them understand that 'no there was nothing wrong with your child and you weren't going crazy' also offering therapy for the siblings who weren't born with magic so there would be no resentment like there'd been with Petunia towards his mother

For magical parents who thought that any children were a blessing after all the death and suffering Voldemort had unleashed in both wars

Of course not every case went so well

There were some muggles who couldn't cope with the idea of having a magical child and tried to 'stamp the magic out' like Vernon had done

On the other end there were some magicals who couldn't cope with the idea of a squib child or a child not having any displays of magic fast enough for the parents

In those cases the children were taken into the departments custody until a time a suitable foster family was found

Harry himself had even fostered one

The door opened and Harry heard the excited clatter of little feet

Speaking of which

"Dad" his three oldest children chorused before rushing into him knocking him back into the sofa Harry laughed as he held his two sons James and Albus and his oldest daughter Delphini while his wife Ginny laughed holding their youngest Lily

"Just wait until you can walk Lil Lily than you can join in on the daddy dog piles" she said getting some baby laughs from the nine month old

"Can't wait" Harry said as he got himself into a sitting position seeing the muddy football uniform and wild black hair on Delphi "how was the game Delphi"

Delphini grinned widely showing a gap toothed grin "it was awesome dad Meggy passed the ball to me and I bounced the ball off my head straight into the goal" she exclaimed happily going into further detail

Harry smiled listening to his daughter

Ten years ago he certainly wouldn't have thought he'd be raising Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestranges daughter

It had been a simple case the department had received complaints of a child in the home of Euphemia Rowle sister of Death Eater Thorfinn Rowle and had investigated why the than one year old had never been to ST. Mungoes for medical check ups

What they found was a neglected and abused infant while the woman used the gold she was given from an anonymous donor to cafe for the child on herself tracking down the vault owner Harry was surprised to learn it had been set up by Bellatrix under a false identity to care for her daughter in case she something happened

So that Rowle could raise her properly as the Dark Lords daughter deserved

Harry had been deeply disturbed and nauseated to learn that Voldemort had reproduced

Kingsley had made that a top level secret if her parentage was discovered she'd be seen as a pariah or worse someone may try to harm her as revenge for the people her parents had killed

So Harry had taken her in

Ginny had quickly agreed and loved the girl like she was her own while also getting some minor revenge on Voledmort and Bellatrix

"Can you imagine how much those monsters are rolling in their graves with their daughter playing on a muggle football" Ginny had told him deviously when she had signed up Delphini for the local football league

Harry had laughed

"It was brilliant I'll show you the memory later Harry" Ginny agreed with a proud grin "now off to the bath with you young lady"

"Aw mum do I have to" Delphi asked "I'm not even that dirty"

"The footprints and muddy jersey tell a different story" Ginny replied raising an eye brow pointing towards the stairs Delphini pouted before heading towards the stairs "and make sure to wash your hair" she called after her

"Yes mum" Delphini replied obediently while James and Albus snickered

"Don't laugh at your sister you two you'll be getting your bath later tonight" Ginny said sternly getting the two boys to stop laughing

Harry smiled

Things were going pretty well for Harry Potter he thought using his wand to vanish the mud placing a kiss on a grateful Ginnys cheek before kissing Lilys forehead ruffling his sons hair he headed into the kitchen

He really should have expected with his luck that something unexpected would happen

A Post owl flew in the window hooting professionally before handing him a letter a plain white muggle envelope with a stamp of the queen

Curiously Harry read the return address curiously

So yeah this is the start of the story

Now for those who don't know I don't like the Cursed Child it's convoluted the golden trio especially Harrys characters are portrayed terribly the time travel stuff is stupid the motivation for going back in time isn't all that great either

And the idea of Voldemort and Bellatrix reproducing is nauseating

All that said you're probably wondering why I'm including Delphini

First it fits with the idea of Harry being the wizard equivalent of a social worker being a good person raising his worst enemies daughter

Second like I said in the chapter it's funny just how horrified Voldy and Bella would be at the idea of their child playing with muggles
