Author's Note: So, as you can see, Violet's story is much more AU than Celesta's. At the same time, I'm going to -try- to keep to the books/movies as much as possible. Harry's still the boy-who-lived. I am undecided on a house, wand, and even love interest for Violet. Since Violet knows the canon, she's simply an extra-but can influence the story.
I am thinking of perhaps Ravenclaw...maybe even Slytherin...but perhaps Gryffindor might even be wise for Violet. Being as she's only eleven, I don't see romance happening until -maybe- 4th year, possibly even 5th. Another worry though, is I have no idea how Harry's going to react to her! Is he going to love her, hate her, be jealous, etc? I think some envy and jealousy is to be expected, but at the same time, she's his sister, you know? Also: I'm aware. She isn't exactly pureblood, since her mother was muggleborn. They're more than half, less than pure. (And, if you're as much a Potterhead as I am, you've read/seen that the Malfoy's are MUCH the same, thank you very much.)
On July 31st, Violet woke up before her alarm. She was eleven! She'd get to go to Hogwarts, she'd get to meet her brother! Sure, Professor Snape would be a prat to him, but still! It was her brother!
Excited by the prospect, she dressed quickly. Black leggings under a green skirt that matched her eyes, a blouse that was only slightly lighter, and a black cardigan. Along with her pullover satchel that Snape had generously put an Undetectable Extension Charm on, which currently only had her Vault key and school letter inside, she headed downstairs after sliding in a headband to keep her hair out of her face.
"Mimi, be ready to take me to the Malfoy's after breakfast!" she called out, joining her adoptive father at the table and spreading jam over her toast. For as much as Snape hated her brother, he was at least tolerant of her. She knew things about him that no child should, as well as reminding him of Lily every now and then. Not that she looked like her mother, oh no, but in that she didn't seem to mind his grouchy moods, or that no matter how strict he was, she would merely flash a smile, especially when she'd get a potion correct under his tutelege over the years.
"I'm sure you're aware, but there will be no favoritism from me just because I've raised you." He told her once she was finished with her eggs and bacon, the girl nodding with a little hum.
"I know, Professor. I only ask that you don't hate me like you do my brother." She replied, giving him a wry smile. Snape wasn't the most...affectionate, for sure, but she received a pat on her shoulder.
"You may stay with the Malfoy's or at the Leaky Cauldron until the start of school. Make sure you pack enough clothing." he said as he headed to his office.
Knowing he needed to get back to the school early for the Stone's protection, she nodded quietly. "Professor Quirrel...don't trust him this year. Not one bit." She told him before the door shut, Snape glancing over before nodding.
Goodbyes weren't given in Snape's house, so once she put on her trainors, she went back upstairs to get clothes that would last until she was at Hogwarts, folding them neatly before slipping them into her satchel. Once done, she returned down the stairs to where Mimi was waiting. Snape had long since given Mimi to Violet, as he had no wish to be responsible for the elf.
"Once I'm with the Malfoy's, make sure that you're ready to go to Hogwarts as well. I've already gotten permission for you to work in the kitchens with the other elves while I'm at school. Meet you at Gringott's." she told the elf, bending down to give her a hug before straightening up. While apparation wasn't the most...pleasant..of experiences, it was much better than the floo network. "Let's go."
Narcissus was already waiting for Violet, opening the gate and walking her up to the door. Mimi, having made sure her mistress was with Lady Malfoy, had already popped away to Hogwarts. After all, while she still needed to make sure of where she'd sleep and what meals or chores she'd be put in charge of once the students arrived.
"Draco is finishing getting ready, then all four of us will head to Diagon Alley. We've already withdrawn money for Draco, so your house elf will need to accompany you to Grongotts. We'll meet up once we've all got everything." Narcissus told the young lady, who nodded and stopped in the foyer. It wasn't long before Draco and Lucious joined the two ladies, and then they were off, Narcissus apparating with Violet and Lucious apparating Draco.
"Thank you, Lady Malfoy, for escorting me here." she said politely with a small curtsy and polite smile, nodding at Lord Malfoy and Draco, who nodded back, dismissing her as she headed towards the bank, dodging other students and parents gracefully.
Mimi met her at the door of the bank, Violet giving the elf a smile. "Thank you, Mimi." she murmured quietly as the elf quietly took hold of her mistress's skirt. "I imagine it won't be long now-ah, there's Hagrid." she spoke mostly to herself, muttering almost, a gleam in her eyes.
"There, ya see 'Arry? Told yer she'd be 'ere." spoke the half-giant fondly to the bespeckled boy. He was wearing clothes that obviously didn't fit him well, the hem of his pants tripping him up occasionally. It took a moment before Harry took notice of Violet, his eyes catching on the goblins, the house-elf holding Violet's skirt, and then his twin at last.
Before he could make any decisions, Violet sniffled and ran forward, taking Harry into a warm hug. "I'm so glad to see you again." she murmured in his ears, kissing his cheek and ignoring the blush that reddened her brother's cheek. "Thank you, Hagrid, for bringing him here safely." she said to the half-giant, who was watching with misty eyes. "Harry, I'm Violet. I'm your older twin. For safety of those..of those nasty relatives, it seemed perrogitive I was raised away from you, and I'm sorry for that. I do hope you liked the occasional presents I was allowed to get you?" she asked, suddenly feeling a bit shy. She must be overwhelming him, but for all intents and purposes, he was her brother, she'd missed him, and she hoped he didn't hate her.
"So it was you who sent those!" He exclaimed, his eyes bright, a smile appearing on his face. "Thank you."
Violet nodded and took the handkerchief offered from Mimi, wiping away her tears. "I couldn't write, but occasionally I could send little gifts. Gifts I knew Petunia," she sneered, "would overlook. Now, we can be in contact, and, I suspect, you're very curious of me. Let's go to the vaults, and then get our school supplies. Hagrid? Would you like a moment? Or are you ready for the cart?" she asked, turning to the half-giant, who guffawed a little bit.
"Just like yer mum, I see! Now where is that key...go on ahead, I'll meet you at the podium."
Offering her hand to Harry, she smiled as it was taken, her eyes lighting up. Finally, at long last, she was with her brother again! Leaving Hagrid to sort out his pockets, she lead her brother up to the podium, clearing her throat politely. "We'd like to visit the Potter vault, as well as Vault Six-Eithy-Eight." she said once she had the goblin's attention, her grip tightening on Harry's hand to prevent him from commenting.
"And does Mister Potter have his key? Do you?" the Head Goblin asked, Hagrid coming up behind them at last, Mimi still quietly holding Violet's skirt hem.
"Righ' 'ere. And ah, got a letter here from Professor Dumbledore. It's about you-know-what in Vault seven-thirteen." Hagrid said, his large hands soon landing on the twins' shoulders.
"Very well. I shall have somebody escort you...Griphook!" The goblin suddenly yelled, startling Harry once more as Griphook came around. Violet, used to the way Gringotts was, simply followed along, her face passive as the cart was whistled for.
"Mimi, if you would?" She asked her house-elf, ignoring Harry's inquisitive looks. She gave him a look as if to say she'd tell him later as the house-elf nodded and stayed on the platform as they all crawled into the cart. "She gets horribly movement sick, you see." she explained with a wry smile while Hagrid looked already a little sick.
"Can' say I blame 'er." he mumbled, and Violet nodded sympathetically, patting his large hand. And then they were off! Violet hummed to herself during the way as she let Harry look about, the girl simply watching with a far away look in her eyes. With a lurching stop, they finally arrived at Vault 687, her own vault right next to it.
"Now, this is the Potter Vault," Violet began to explain, since Hagrid was leaning against the wall to recover while Griphook unlocked the door. "That being said, I've already split the fortune into two, but the heirlooms will have to be split when we're older. The gold coins are Galleons, the silver are Sickles, and the bronze are Knuts. Seventeen Sickles into a Galleon, and twenty-nine Knuts to a Sickle. It's rather easy enough to remember. There's a pouch there you can use, just fill it about halfway for now. That should last you at least this year." she explained as Hagrid came to help Harry.
Seeing as that would occupy a bit of time, she turned and nodded to Griphook to unlock her own vault, following after him. For her own uses, she pulled out a small pouch that was also enchanted, filling it up with a decent amount for this school year and the next, should everything go according to her plans. She hoped she could befriend Ron as well, but just in case...well. She'd simply have to wait and see, right?
"Alrigh' there Violet?" Hagrid asked as she stared blankly into her pouch. Startled, she whirled around, before smiling gently.
"Yes. Lost in thought, I suppose." she said glibly, striding out of her vault, Griphook locking them up once more. Having been raised by the Malfoys and Snape, she was used to hiding her true thoughts, as well as putting on the mask all children of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, well, most children, were taught from a young age.
"And I'm sorry, Hagrid, but the cart only has one speed." she said quietly before he could ask the goblin for a slower speed. "Might I suggest popping in for a pick-me-up afterwards? I'm sure Harry would like a present, and I'd be more than happy to lead him shopping for his supplies."
Hagrid, looking green, nodded as they climbed back into the cart.
Violet seemed quiet as they were blinking up at the sunlight once more, Harry holding her hand and Mimi once more holding the hem of her skirt, standing just a step behind her. "Come, Harry. Let's get our uniforms out of the way, and then we can pick up our books and potion supplies. Hagrid looks a bit peaky, so he's going to get a pick-me-up from the Leaky Cauldron and meet us at Ollivander's." she said decisively, the half-giant nodding and rushing off, quite green and pale despite his normally ruddy skin-tone.
Leading the way, she couldn't help but smile at Harry's wonder of the shops. "We'll learn flying soon enough, but we can't have our own brooms yet." she told him as they passed the Quidditch shops.
The bell rang as they entered Madam Malkin's Robes for all Occasion's, Violet nodding politely at Draco before they were split up. Violet went to the girls' side so she could get measured for her underthings as well.
"Madam, make sure he gets fitting underclothes and pyjamas as well." she called out once she was measured, her uniforms folded and put in her bag. She took out her money and paid for her uniforms and bras, before sitting next to Narcissus, who was waiting for Draco to be finished. "Aunt, Draco needs...to learn to be a bit more sensitive. Observant, he is not." she said quietly, out of hearing for any others bustling. "That's my brother, and all he's doing is annoying him." She explained at the inquisitive look Narcissus sent her. With a hum, she nodded and patted Violet's knee, but didn't respond as they were finished with Draco, leaving soon after.
"I apologize for him." Violet said once Harry was done, the two of them walking out. "His father...isn't a very good man, but he idolizes him. I'm sure it's much like...Dudly, is it?" she asked, tilting her head before dismissing the question. "In any case, that's the opinion of his father, for the most part. I'm sure, eventually, he will have his own thoughts and feelings." she said, leading him to the apothecary.
Flourish and Blott's was busy enough, and while Harry seemed a bit overwhelmed, she gathered her books and his, before adding a couple more to the pile. "These will assist you with the language, this one will help you understand some things, and this one," she said, pointing to the last one on top, "is a list of the pureblood Houses and relatives. We have quite the history on our Dad's side. If you're uninterested, then that's fine too, but it might come in handy so hang on to it."
The last stop before Ollivanders was a store that had trunks for school, Violet gathering two of them that matched, but had seperate asthetics. As hers was a bit more girlish, she was satisfied, and even paid the store keeper to engrave their names and initials on the handle, before explaining that Harry wasn't quite used to the popularity yet, so please not to bother.
And then they were off to get their wands.
