It doesn't matter how hard you wish for something, it seems. The inevitable will make its way once you work towards it or if you're not so lucky - like Bella. It'd stare you in the face, ready to suck you dry.

I groaned, shards of glass embedding themselves in my hands and legs as I got up. I should have stayed down; I wasn't up for a fight - especially with a vampire, but as Ang always said. I never was one to think things through - I am impulsive.

I coughed from the stinging sensation I was experiencing in my ribs. "Le- Leave her alone." I tried shouting, but I knew it came out as a weak mumble, but it grabbed his attention. I wanted to throw up as his blood-red eyes - cruel and unnatural made my stomach churn.

'Yep,' I thought, 'I'm having nightmares if I live through this.' He grinned that wicked grin of his, which made me wince as my head decided to trickle with pain as well. My whole body was humming with warning of danger coming my way, and sure enough, James had gotten up from his crouch. He was about to pounce on Bella like a predator to its prey.

I closed my eyes, breathing in slowly as the pain in my head only increased, each time sharper than the last.

"Stop," I whimpered, my hands clutching my head- this caused James to laugh - astonished by my breakdown. "I haven't touched you, and you're already crying!" He was loud and theatrical - this was all a show for him. He loved this and was thriving in every second. I couldn't care less at the moment, my head feeling ready to explode.

"Please," I whispered; I don't know how to describe the feeling. One second, my head was pounding, James walking towards me - taking his time to look threatening, and without a second - the pain from my head was gone, and he was crashing through the mirrors. The opposite side of the ballet studio was littered with newly broken shards, but before I could smile out of satisfaction, I fainted without a second notice.

Ultimately, no matter how hard you fight it - the inevitable - once in its clutches, it won't let you go. It'll squeeze you till you're no more.
