Round 1:
The Root of Hatred.
First defeat is…the Splash Duo!?
After surging, Lady Hately: The sovereign of endless hatred and deep fear, summoned her four servants to her dismal mansion of Fearland. They all came from the Paradise of Reality looking for a vent to their own grudges:
-"Welcome.", the woman with eyes as red as blood said voluptuous, "I am Lady Hately, the sovereign of endless hatred and deep fear."
-"It's an honor to meet you, our mistress.", the four of the servants said as they kneeled to her.
-" Allow me to introduce myself.", a 14 year old boy with a black tuxedo suit and a big hat covering his face made a respectful bow, "My name is Okuhatter, tamer of shadows and sower of envy."
-"I'll be next.", the second to introduce was a woman with dark blonde hair styled like a bun, a short green and black puffy dress with skulls as accessories and she was holding a doll with black hair and a green dress, "I am Marioretta, puppeteer of urges and messenger of resentment."
-"Wolfzack, the loner and cold-hearted wolf of the New Moon.", the third one introduced himself, he was a 14 year old as well with navy blue hair, wolf ears, claws and tails and a black suit with purple scratches and a yellow scarf.
-"I'm Vamphirisa! Agent of fear that flaps the wings of despair!", the last one introduced herself, an 11 year old girl with black and violet hair tied in long tails and a dress with black and purple lines.
-"Alright, then, let's get directly onto your mission.", Lady Hately said having the introductions over, "My wish is to cover the world in fear and be consumed in hatred…but there's something that will not allow me to do so."
-"We'll get rid of that hindrance for you, my lady.", Okuhatter replied.
-"Just the words I wanted to hear.", Lady Hately smiled, "The counsel of guardians of all worlds have sent 33 girls to stop me."
-"Those girls are legendary warriors, the so called Pretty Cure.", her eyebrows frown with disgust, "If they reach out to me…I won't be able to accomplish my wish!"
-"So, we will destroy them all, right?", Vamphirisa said with an excited thought.
-"That's provoking yet not my style.", Lady Hately replied with a smile, "Each of them has a sphere in their heart that protects their dream and stores their memories as Pretty Cure. I want you to steal them, along with anything that binds them to their powers."
-"As you wish!", the four servants exclaimed.
-"These are the girls…", Hately said as she made 10 mirrors* showing up the Pretty Cures and their abilities.
*There's actually 8 teams but the other two show the sequels events (Max Heart and GoGo)
-"…", Okuhatter was figuring out with which group to start and noticed the mirror in front of him, in there were Saki Hyuuga and Mai Misho enjoying their extracurricular activities, eating bread from Panakapan and other things; always smiling and joyful…It made him quite irritated, "I'll take these two first."
-"I will display my strength against these four. It will be a fine spectacle for you, my lady.", Marioretta said as she was stood in front of the mirror with the HeartCatch Pretty Cure.
-"These four sure look strong.", Wolfzack mentioned as he took a look at the Fresh Pretty Cure.
-"These five! They seem fun to make of!", Vamphirisa exclaimed as she pointed with a smirk at the Smile Pretty Cure team.
-"Keep in mind that your enemies have vanished all kinds of darkness and they are quite experienced. Never drop your guard.", Lady Hately said to them, "Get rid of those love defenders, my Fearsome Squad."
-"Roger!", they said as they vanished towards their prey.
In the Land of Greenery, Saki and Mai were relaxing under the World Tree, enjoying the peaceful breeze. Mai was drawing her friend in front of this sacred tree for practice:
-"Are you done, now? Mai?", Saki asked as she was in a rather difficult pose for about 30 minutes.
-"Not yet. Just a little more, Saki.", Mai replied with a smile, which far from relieving her friend, it was more like a demand. Saki could only sigh, "Don't move!"
-"Geeek!", Saki was suddenly scared of her strictness.
Suddenly, a strong wind blew making Saki lose her balance and fall and four colored lights fell from the sky towards them. The pink and green lights fell on the hands of the two girls while the blue and yellow ones had the bad luck of striking the land and leaving a hole on it, as Saki was able to avoid them. Saki and Mai recognized those alien lights when they took their true forms:
-"Flappy! Muupu*!", Saki recognized her partner fairies: a cyan rabbit with circular ears and a green ghost-like fairy.
-"Choppy! Fuupu*!", Mai recognized hers as well: a cream yellow guinea pig spirit with butterfly markings and a pink ghost-like fairy.
*I prefer these than the Moop and Foop names they have in wiki.
-"Good…to see you again-lapi.", Flappy said as he was standing up from the crater they created.
-"Something the matter? Why are you all here…?", Mai asked as she left her sketchbook behind.
-"We have big troubles-chopi!", Choppy exclaimed.
-"A wicked woman is attempting to end all love and light in this world-mupu!", Muupu exclaimed rowdily.
-"A wicked woman…?", Saki and Mai wondered.
-"Yes! We need to gather with the other Pretty Cure to stop her-lapi!", Flappy said rather uneasy and nervous.
An ominous wind blew all the leaves on the trees nearby, with exception of the World Tree, and Okuhatter appeared in front of the girls and her spirit partners with an elegant stand:
-"Greetings, missies", he said with a bow and then pulled about his hat up to show his cocky smirk, "Or should I refer to you as Cure Bloom and Cure Egret?"
-"Eh!? How do you…!?", Saki exclaimed in shock while Mai had a bad feeling about the mysterious gentleman.
-"That boy…! He's surrounded with a mischievous aura-chopi!", Choppy covered her ears in fear.
-"Who are you!?", Saki asked out of pressure.
"My name is Okuhatter, tamer of shadows and sower of envy.", Okuhatter introduced himself with a reverence, "Our Majesty, Lady Hately, has sent me to get rid of you."
-"We won't let you! Mai!", Saki called out for her friend.
-"Yes!", Mai was prepared to fight as well. Flappy and Choppy changed their forms in a poof to the Crystal Communes and Muupu and Fuupu went on hiding.

-"Dual Spiritual Power!", the two girls turned around the lids of the communes, joined their hands together and spin their items to tap them against each other creating a bright ball of light that surrounded them and raise them to the sky before exploding and leaving a rainbow column dimension while the girls started to fall with glittering dresses.
-"Bloom on earth, flowers!", Saki summoned the spirits of the land.
-"Soar in the skies, wings!", Mai summoned the spirits of the sky. After finishing their transformation, Cure Bloom landed first:
-"The Shining golden flower, Cure Bloom!", she introduced herself and Cure Egret landed back to her.
-"The Glittering silver wings, Cure Egret!", the girl proceeded to introduce herself as well.
-"Together, we are Pretty Cure!"
-"Oh, being that hurts the sacred fountains!", Egret pointed at him.
-"Your evil deeds, stop them now!", Bloom did as well.
The space between them was filled with silence until Okuhatter said:
-"Ladies, first…", as he did a sign. Bloom and Egret jumped towards him at incredible speed and started to use their spirit-enhanced punches and kicks. Okuhatter just bothered to repel them and avoid them. Both Cures synched a double fist to the stomach, but when they thought they landed the hit; their enemy smiled and vanished leaving his shining cape behind to deceive them.
-"What-?", Bloom was surprised as she noticed they punched the cape.
-"Bloom, behind us!", Egret noticed the elegant boy behind them still smiling
-"Gotcha…", he taunted them before they throw a double kick at him with anger. Okuhatter took out his red sword to block their attack and throw them apart to their shock. They landed on the floor safely thanks to their spiritual power.
-"He repels all our attacks…!", Egret was worried, "Just what is he planning?"
-"Egret. Let's do it! We have no other choice!", Bloom said with a confident smile; she knew the fight wasn't over for them yet.
-"Ok.", Egret was ready to launch their stronger attack.
-"Muupu! Fuupu!", they called out the other fairies which came to them with the little laptop, Splash Commune.
-"Power of the Moon!", Muupu summoned the spirits of light on his forehead.
-"Power of the Wind!", Fuupu did the same with the spirits of air.
-"Splash Turn!", they went inside the Commune and ejected two lights, green and pink that attached to their respective partners creating the heart-shaped Spiral Rings.
-"Already with the big attacks?", Okuhatter said interested of their sudden strategy. Both girls detached the shining blue loops from their belt and bracelet and put them back one by one while they shone. The put their Rings to spin and gather the spiritual power of the land and sky while they joined hands.
-"O, light of spirits! O, shine of life!", Egret exclaimed.
-"Guide both of our hearts towards hope!", Bloom completed and they were ready to launch their attack, "Pretty Cure…Spiral Heart…"
-"Splash!", they shot the spiritual water streams towards him with extreme strength attempting to surround him for purification.
-"Here it comes…!", Okuhatter prepared his sword but the attack enclosed him by both sides before he could even move.
-"It's working!", Bloom was surprised that their attack worked…or that was until Okuhatter vanished the water in drops around him like nothing.
-"It can't be…!", Bloom was not happy with that.
-"He vanished the Spiral Heart like that…!", Egret was in shock as well.
-"That was a little dangerous…", Okuhatter swung his sword around to get rid of the water on it, "But, if I was able to cut it…Is that all you got? It's better if you give up quietly…"
-"We won't give up!", they shout at him.
-"We are Pretty Cure and we love our world!", Bloom said.
-"That's why we will protect it!", Egret exclaimed.
-"Let's go!", Bloom said to Egret with a confident smile. She was knew that as long as they were together, they wouldn't lose.
-"Yes!", Egret believe so as well.
Egret went first to attack him with sparkling kicks, but Okuhatter blocked her and push her to floor. On the attempt of hitting Egret with the sword, Bloom protected her friend with a spiritual shield and Egret jumped over her to kick him down, but Okuhatter moved at the same time kicking her from the other side and succeeding to launch her up. Bloom saw this and went to assist Egret before she got hurt.
-"Are you alright?", she asked holding her by the elbows.
-"Yes…but…", Egret smiled and looked at the enemy kind of worried, "This enemy is really dangerous after all…"
-"If we use more power, we might be able to scare him off…!", she suggested.
-"I see…and then we could go with everyone.", Bloom murmured.
-"Dual Spiritual Power!", they exclaimed as they started to fall down towards Okuhatter surrounded by the power of the spirits of light and wind.
-"Illuminate us to the future!", Bloom exclaimed as her outfit turned green.
-"Bring us courage!", Egret said the same as her outfit turned pink and cyan. They were transformed in Cure Bright and Cure Windy.
-"I see…!", Okuhatter was prepared by their other big attack.
-"O, Wind!", Windy summoned wind currents as Bloom went ahead to her.
-"O, Light!", Bright said as she created a moon shield that was shot down with impressive force by Windy's wind current. They were ready to hit down Okuhatter, who make his sword spin and throw it up from another angle as a red line. He took the impact with his own hands as the power crushed and caused an explosion. While flying, the Cures noticed that they only made a few scratches on him...would that have scare him off?
-"It's your last chance…", Okuhatter exclaimed at them with a serious face, "Stop believing in the lie that you can defeat me or even gather with the other Pretty Cure…"
-"You…!", Bright was mad that he had the guts to say something like that.
-"Bright.", Windy called her out and showed at her the Star-shaped Spiral Ring on her arm. It was time to use another powerful attack. They detached and put back the shining blue rings and gathered the spirits of light and wind.
-"O, light of spirits! O, shine of life!", Windy exclaimed.
-"Guide both of our hearts to hope!", Bright exclaimed and they released green and pink spiritual water streams.
-"Pretty Cure…Spiral Star…", they pulled back in order to push a powerful wave, "SPLASH!"
Okuhatter was hit by the green and pink streams being at disadvantage without his sword.
-"It's working…!", Bright murmured.
-"It's futile…", Okuhatter murmured with his clothes starting to get burned by the purifying power until the red line that was his sword went back from the direction it came and crossed across Windy's chest.
-"Agh…!", Windy was in shock by seeing the dim red sword stabbing her. There wasn't any pain nor a deep injury. She only saw the sword passing through her and felt an intense heartache.
-"Wind….WINDYYY!", Bright was equally shocked as their streams were vanished before it could purify Okuhatter in a grave way. The sword took out a cyan sphere with a pink star inside from her partner and came back to his owner. Windy lost her transformation, going back to an unconscious Mai.
-"Mai!", Bright was worried that she was taken like that, "You…! What did you do to Mai!?"
-"See this sphere?", Okuhatter showed the bead collected in the handle of the sword. Bright paid attention to him, "In here, her dreams and, on top of that, her memories of becoming Pretty Cure."
-"W-What-!? Then, that does mean…!", Bright feared the worst.
-"Exactly. While she lacks of this sphere, she will never remember anything related of becoming a Pretty Cure…not the enemies she fought, the friends she made, and…her own partner. She also won't be able to dream anymore.", Okuhatter explained, "Poor Mai Mishou will never draw ever again with any aspiration…"
-"Give it back…!", Bright stuttered with anger while Okuhatter hid the sphere on his pocket, "Give her memories back!", she went at him with tears on her eyes, throwing punches left and right, but it didn't even phase him.
-"So you still keep believing in that lie…", Okuhatter said, "How can you defeat me without her I wonder?"
-"I will!", Bright started to get more rushed on her offensive that Okuhatter simply shot a red light ball on her to throw her on the floor.
-"It ends here!", Okuhatter tried to stab her like he did with Mai but she rolled up to avoid it, "So, you still have strength left…"
-"I won't give up…", Bright said as she tried to stand up after that front attack, "I have to take that back…If not, Mai won't…she won't remember me…and we will not be friends anymore…"
-"I won't let that happen!", Bright exclaimed as the light spiritual power flowed through her body. With renewed strength, Bright went to the offensive again, "O, light!"
Okuhatter shot his sword before Bright could form fully the moon shield, her last attack. Bright started to feel a heartache as Okuhatter picked her up elegantly and took out her sphere, and she lost consciousness. Her sphere was magenta and with a green star inside.
-"M-Mai…!", Saki couldn't do anything but to call out her name. Okuhatter put the sphere on his pocket and laid Saki next to the unconscious Mai.
The fairy partners went back to their original forms and faced him:
-"G-Give them back their memories-lapi!", Flappy shout at him as he jumped to punch him. Okuhatter just blocked him with his bare hand.
-"Right! Becoming Pretty Cure is what made them friends in the first place -chopi!", Choppy jumped at his pocket but the villain squeezed her in time with his other hand.
-"That's quite a desperate claim coming from you two…", Okuhatter mentioned as he captured them both inside black spheres, "May I remind you why they were involved on this in the first place?"
-"Muupu!"
-"Fuupu!", the remaining fairies tried to escape but they were captured as well.
At his last stance, in the Land of Greenery, Okuhatter looked at his previous opponents and said while tilting his hat:
-"Sweet dreams, missies…", and vanished with the fairies while the forest restored his fallen leaves.
Author's note: This is the first chapter of the prequel. Let me know what you think. Should I tone it down a bit? Because it's only getting worse from now on (no blood or torture included though. This is a K+ fic).
