That evening, Lily Evans was working on her potions essay in the Common Room. It was nice and quiet, the perfect atmosphere for getting homework done.
Nice and quiet. A bit too quiet, she suddenly thought. Her gaze flickered over to the staircase that led to the Marauder's room. She frowned suspiciously. Those boys had not been seen since dinner…
Frank Longbottom just finished up his own homework and leaned back in the chair to relax for a moment. "I must say, it's been pretty interesting these past few days. Those pranks almost made me completely forget about the fight."
"I'd nearly forgotten too. Thanks for reminding me about it," Alice said, frowning.
"Sorry."
For a moment they just sat there, remembering the fight and the cause of it.
"Wonder what comes next?" Frank said.
"With the war, or the pranks?"
"Both, actually."
"Well," Lily said, not looking up from her parchment, "whoever wants to cause the next big prank is in for a challenge, I'd say."
"Yeah," laughed Frank, "how do you top pranking the entire Slytherin house twice?"
Alice laughed too, "That does sound like quite the challenge!"
Lily chuckled. "Yeah. What's next, pranking every student in Hogwarts? Are we all going to have tie-dye-colored bodies after dinner tomorrow or something?"
As she was saying this, James Potter and Sirius Black entered the Common Room. They stopped in their tracks, gave each other a look, and went straight back upstairs. Lily was suddenly horrified.
"Dear Merlin, what have I done? James? James!" she shrieked.
"Sorry Lily my dear, I'd love to flirt with you, but we've got a potion to brew!"
"JAMES!"
He poked his head back into the Common Room, "Say, does this mean we're on a first-name basis now?"
He ducked just in time as Lily threw a book at him.
