Hello everyone, this is the first story I have ever written so I want all feedback and suggestions even flames. I am writing this because I have some pretty big issues with canon MHA so I was like why not try my hand at rewriting it myself? This is going to be a long-winded Canon rewrite with a ALOT OF CHANGES even some pretty big ones. Also No harem and no polyamory. I have the pairing pretty much picked out although I am open to suggestions. Now with that out of the way "Let's get this show on the road!"
My Hero Academia: A New Hope
Prologue
"All men are not created equal." Despite what some people may want you to believe, this statement is true, has always been true, and will remain true
as long as homo-sapiens roam this gigantic floating rock we call the earth. Even before the emergence of quirks, if you were born with the correct genes to grow to 6 '6 and
were blessed with the ability to jump high and run fast, with a little work, you might have a career as a professional athlete. If you were born with the genes
to grow to only 5 '7 and didn't jump as high, or run as fast, you would have to work 1000 times harder even to see a modicum of the success the first man would see. Another
example of this truth can be found in the business world. One might be born with an IQ of 170 and be able to breeze through school and get a headstart in college before
someone with less natural gifts who is just as hardworking. Another undeniable truth about humankind is that if man doesn't understand something he will either fear or hate
it. With these two rules in mind when I tell you the story of how a baby that was originally thought to be like any other was born with bioluminescent skin you shouldn't be
surprised by his fate…. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I'm telling you these things because these two truths completely shaped my identity. This is the story of how I rose
above my peers and bent the world to my will. This is the story of how I became a beacon of hope for the bottom feeders of society, an inspiration to those who previously
had little reason to get out of bed in the morning. This is the story of how I became the greatest hero the world has ever seen.

A beautiful woman lay on a hospital bed. Her shoulder-length green hair is splayed along a pillow and her face is scrunched up in exertion. "You're doing great Inko keep
pushing," a man with gravity-defying jet-black hair says as the now-named Inko squeezes the life out of his hand. She gives a hard push and a loud cry is heard, as a mop of
green hair pokes out of her entrance. The nurse cries out "Come on you can do it," "One last push,". Inko upon hearing this dumps all of her resolve into one final push. She
squeezes her husband's hand so hard it feels like it will fall off and screams out as the baby is completely pushed out. The nurse quickly catches the baby and wraps him up in
a blanket. Inko collapses into her husband's arms, exhausted and relieved. The baby cries, a healthy sign of life. She weakly glances up at her husband "Hisashi what should
we name our boy?" The now-named Hisashi puts his hand on his chin and takes a moment to ponder the question before answering "How about Izuku?" he says as he gazes
down at his wife. Inko looks up at him and smiles, "Izuku Midoriya, I like the way that sounds." Inko and Hizashi look lovingly at the baby, tears of joy glistening in their eyes. Hizashi takes the baby in his arms and kisses his forehead. Inko takes a deep breath and whispers "Welcome to the world, Izuku."

The now four-year-old Izuku is sitting on the couch in the Midoriya living room watching a soap opera with Hisashi, as Inko can be seen preparing dinner in the background.
On the TV screen, the leading female is making exaggerated body motions while obviously, fake tears trickle down her beautiful face as she speaks to the leading male.
Hisashi snorts and looks away from the screen in disgust "Man the quality of actors has really declined over the past few years huh Zuku? " Izuku smiles after hearing the
special name that only his father calls him before responding "I don't know Dad even though it's corny I still like it" Hisashi Laughs "Well it IS your favorite show for a reason."
Izuku makes a face " What's that supposed to mean?" Hizashi gives his son an amused look "It means that you have a love for the dramatic" Stifling a laugh at the deadpan
look his son gives him Hisashi continues" I mean you even inherited your mother's famous limitless tears", "I can't argue with that one Izuku." Inko yells in from the kitchen.
Upon hearing this Izuku cutely crosses his arms and pouts while grumbling about traitorous women. This action proves to be the straw that breaks the camel's back of
Hisashi's resolve as he begins to howl in laughter "Also, quiet down the two of you I can hardly cook over your loud banter" Hisashi after recovering from his laugh attack yells
into the kitchen" Ok honey we'll quiet down" Izuku decides to focus on the TV again to try and hide his embarrassment and he sees the leading woman on her knees with
tears streaming down her face in quick succession seemingly begging the leading man for something. "Please don't leave me" she chokes out between sobs as she grabs onto
the man's knee to prevent him from walking away. "I love you!" She sobs at him. The man leveled at her with a look of pure disgust. "If you loved me you wouldn't have
cheated!" The man screams at her before walking off-screen. The credits to the episode begin rolling as the woman's words begin replaying themselves in his head "Please don't leave me!", "I love you!"
Izuku turns to his father "Dad I have a question" His father flashes him his signature smile that makes Izuku feel like he could tell him anything "Ask away buddy." Izuku
hesitates before asking "Dad what is love?" Hisashi looks taken aback for a moment before responding "Honestly I'm surprised you don't already know what that means."
Izuku gives him another deadpan look "Well you are very intelligent for your age." Hisashi explains. Izuku looks exasperated before speaking again "No Dad, of course I know
what the word love means," "I want to know what love means to you." Hisashi, shocked at the complexity of the question his four-year-old just asked him, takes a few
moments to respond, "Well if you love something it means that you would do or give anything to protect it, even your own life." Izuku gives his father a curious look " Do you
love me and mom?" Hisashi chuckles "You and Mom are my world, no matter what happens, I'll always be there for you guys." "Do you promise?" "Yes, I promise." After
hearing his father's response Izuku" 's eyes appear to take on a new light as he excitedly proclaims "Well I love you and Mom, and Kacchan, and Aunt Mistuki and Uncle
Masaru" "That's why I want to become a hero so I can protect everyone with a smile just like All Might!" Hisashi felt his heart swell in his chest at the proud declaration his son
had just made. "Woah slow down there Zuku you can't be a hero until we know what your quirk is." "Maybe you'll even get a combination of me and your mother's quirks."
Izuku's eyes sparkled with determination and excitement at his father's words. "I can't wait to find out!" he exclaimed, bouncing slightly in his seat. His father chuckled
warmly, ruffling Izuku's hair, feeling a deep sense of pride and hope for his son's future. Izuku briefly pauses in his excitement and voices a question "Dad what if I don't get a
quirk?" Almost as soon as the words leave Izuku's mouth Hisashi's face morphs into a scowl as he glares down at his son darkly. "Don't even put such nonsense out there. No
son of mine will ever be an impotent." Izuku, frightened by his father's sudden change in personality, decides not to question him. As silence consumes the living area Izuku
thinks to himself 'I've never seen Dad so mad. Why does the idea of me having no quirk make him so angry?' Just as Izuku felt like the tension would swallow him alive, Inko
yelled loudly from the dining room "Boys come to the table, dinner is ready!" As Izuku takes his seat at the table next to his father, thoughts about Impotents and the horror of disappointing him swirl through his young brain.

A few months later
Izuku and his mother are seated on the couch watching TV as Inko lazily flicks through the different TV channels. A woman stands at a counter as she enthusiastically talks
about a new brownie recipe. CLICK An imposing man clad in black robes throws his hands forward and an arc of electricity shoots from his fingertips. CLICK Izuku's eyes
widen as he reads the text at the bottom of the screen. BREAKING NEWS Hisashi Midoriya of Midoriya and co. speaks out on the Endeavor lawsuit. A reporter then
comes on screen. followed by a tall handsome man whose jet-black hair seemed to defy gravity. Izuku's eyes fill with childish wonder as he excitedly turns to his mom, "Is
that Dad?" His mom responds to her son's enthusiasm by nodding her head. "Oh that's so cool that Dad is representing the no.2 hero my dad really is the coolest, maybe he
can get me an autograph oh my gosh this is so cool-" "Izuku baby you're rambling." Izuku's face turns beet red "Sorry I got a little excited." "It's fine baby just pay attention
you're gonna miss the interview." Izuku complies and brings his attention back to the TV screen. The reporter, a fairly average-looking man with large black wings sprouting
out of his back, shakes Hisashi's hand, as they sit down in two chairs positioned opposite to each other. The reporter begins the interview by saying "What an honor it is to be
sitting across from the great Hisashi Midoriya." "Aw stop, you're giving me too much credit-" before Hisashi can continue. The reporter cuts him off. " There is no need to be
humble here Hisashi. It's not every day you have the owner of the no.1 law firm in the country on your show." " I mean you're a living legend in the hero community,
someone who has worked with countless heroes to prevent them from being wrongfully incriminated while doing their jobs." " I mean you've never lost a case for crying out
loud." The reporter exclaims much to Hisashi's chagrin. Izuku's eyes twinkle with pride after hearing his father's impressive resume "Mom is everything that guy is saying
about Dad true?" Inko smiles at her son before responding," Yep, your father is very famous." Izuku thinks to himself in wonder 'My dad might be the only person out there
that's cooler than All Might!' Izuku turns his attention back to the screen. Hisashi responds with a smile "Well I just recognize that in this age of superpowers, heroes are the
fabric that holds our society together and that they should be able to do their jobs without the fear that they may find themselves behind bars or paying a ridiculous fine for
their actions while protecting the public." Hisashi continues "But enough about me," "I believe you asked me here to discuss the Endeavor lawsuit?" The reporter smiles "Ah
yes the Endeavor collateral damage case" "This is a very controversial topic as many people are calling for the no.2 hero's license to be suspended or even revoked depending
on who you ask." "What are your thoughts on people harboring these feelings toward your client Hisashi?" Hisashi doesn't skip a beat before responding " Well I find it
extremely unfortunate that people feel that way, I would like to let the country know that I will do everything in my power to prevent my client from experiencing any unjust
consequences." The reporter smirks " While I find your dedication admirable I am inclined to believe due to your answer that you hold no sympathy for the numerous people
who lost their homes and the one casualty who was caught in the crossfire of the devastating battle between Endeavor and the villain Grim ." "I mean for crying out loud they
destroyed a whole city block!" Hisashi's face remains a calm smile seemingly unfazed by the obvious trap laid out by the reporter "Gosh no!" "My heart goes out to all of the
poor families who lost their homes and belongings in the battle" "But the hard truth is that if it hadn't been for my client, the damage would have been much worse," "If, for
instance, Endeavor would have held his power back to not damage the environment. The villain Grim may have been able to take the fight to a more populated area and
possibly hurt even more people. When faced with this dilemma my client made the most logical decision and didn't hold anything back to end the fight as quickly as possible."
The reporter then nodded his head " When you put it that way it does sound like Endeavor made the right decision when deciding to go full force" Izuku looked on in wonder
at how his father masterfully navigated the reporter's questions. Nonetheless, Izuku is still a four-year-old with a poor attention span so he was beginning to get bored with
the interview "Mom can we go watch the All Might debut video?" Inko sighs at her son's lack of attention span before responding "Sure honey come on" Inko gets up off the
couch and begins to make her way upstairs with Izuku following close behind. Unbeknownst to them, Inko had forgotten to turn the TV off and the interview kept on playing.
The reporter then looks at Hisashi before continuing" Although I couldn't help but notice that you didn't mention the man that lost his life?" Hizashi is mostly able to maintain
his calm visage but his eyes begin to glow darkly "Zhao Miyamoto is the name of the man that was caught in the crossfire, he was burned to a crisp by Endeavor's flames
after said hero was launched into his living room by Grim-" "Oh that's horrible!" screams the reporter as he rises out of his seat. "I wasn't finished!". The reporter, taken
aback by his outburst, settles in his seat before speaking "My apologies" Hisashi continues" As I was saying that man, Zhao Miyamoto was an Impotent, Someone born
without any special ability, the man was quirkless!" The reporter, seemingly shocked at the revelation sputters out" Oh well I didn't know, that was not mentioned in any of
the crime scene reports!" Hizashi looks at the man before replying " The man's family wished to keep his identity anonymous so any personal information was kept out of the
Press." The reporter then speaks up "I can see why you didn't deem it important enough to mention the man's death." Hisashi takes a deep breath before speaking again "I would even go as far as to say that Endeavor did the world a favor by removing that scum."

A week later
As Izuku and Inko made their way to the front door of the doctor's office Izuku could barely contain his excitement today was the big day, the day when he finally would find
out what his quirk was. 'Oh maybe I'll be able to breathe fire like dad, or maybe I'll be able to move objects with my mind like mom!' 'What if I get some type of combination
like the ability to control fir-' "Izuku" Inko says with a knowing smile. Izuku blushes cutely. "I said all that stuff out loud didn't I?"
Inko laughs and then nods. Embarrassed Izuku decides to keep his mouth shut until they get to the doctor's office. After they enter the waiting room Inko signs them in and
they each take a seat.
After about 15 minutes of waiting a woman comes through the hall door and yells "Midoriya, doctor Garaki is ready for you!"
Line break
"I'm sorry mam but your son appears to be quirkless"
As soon the words left the man's mouth Inko burst into tears as Izuku stared in disbelief
'Quirkless… what will Dad think' As Izuku thinks back to the conversation he had with his father a few months ago he begins to hyperventilate 'No son of mine will ever be an
Impotent,' 'Don't even put such nonsense out there' Tears start to cascade down Izuku's face as he for the first time in his short life understands the true meaning of despair.
Inko upon seeing the state her son is in thinks to herself 'How selfish am I?' 'My son is having his whole world crushed and I'm crying instead of comforting him' 'I need to be
strong for him' Izuku was so lost in his despair that he didn't notice a pair of slender arms wrap around him "Izuku" Ignoring his mother's words Izuku kept bawling his eyes
out. "Izuku baby look at me, please" Hearing the desperation in his mother's voice Izuku finally complies and looks up at her. When Inko sees the look in her son's eyes she
feels her heart break in two 'He looks like he's given up on life' 'I have to do something' "Izuku listen to me, it doesn't matter that you're quirkless your Father and I will be
there for you no matter what!" Izuku's crying begins to slow as Inko continues " It doesn't matter if the whole world hates you because we'll be right there being hated with
you!" Izuku's tears stop falling entirely as he fully takes in her words " As long as we're alive you'll never be alone!" Izuku looks at his mom his eyes puffy and red *Sniffle*
"Do you promise!" tightening her hold on her son Inko "Yes baby I promise" Izuku clings on to his mom for dear life as all his fears are washed away. To him, all that mattered
at that moment was his mother's warm embrace. Before he knew it Izuku felt his eyelids become heavy as he felt sleep begin to take him. The sound of soft snoring could
soon be heard in the quaint doctor's office. Doctor Garaki coughed into his hands before saying "Sorry to interrupt the heartfelt moment, but I have some information I need
to disclose to you before you two leave" Keeping Izuku tucked in her embrace, Inko turned to face the doctor "I'm all ears" then pulls out a clipboard with some pictures on it
before showing it to Inko." This here is an x-ray of your son's pinky toes" Dr. Garaki then points to one of the images before continuing " And this right here is an extra joint."
"It has been scientifically proven that anyone with this extra joint in their pinky toes will never develop a quirk." The doctor pauses to let his words sink in. After Inko gives
the man a nod in understanding. The doctor continues" Are you familiar with the origin of quirks?" Inko nods her head "You're talking about the glowing baby right?" "Yes, the
glowing baby was the first of a new generation of humanity born with supernatural abilities." "But do you know what happened to the glowing baby?" Inko furrows her brow in
concentration seemingly struggling to remember "Um… I think he was killed?" Dr. Garacki adopts a somber expression "Yes that's precisely what happened to him," "Can you
imagine that?" "An innocent baby boy, fresh out the womb snuffed out, right there in the operating room." "I mean for God's sake he didn't even have a name!" Inko couldn't
fathom why those people would ever do such a thing 'I couldn't imagine hurting Izuku' "While I agree that what happened to the glowing baby is very sad." "I can't help but
ask what does this have to with Izuku?" Inko questions the man. Dr. Garaki adjusts his glasses before responding" Well mam it has everything to do with your son because the
glowing baby was not the only child that was killed during this time" Inko looks on in shock as she takes in the new information "After the glowing baby was killed more and
more children were being born with some type of superhuman ability" "People around the world were afraid of this new development, so they branded these people as
subhuman and began killing and discriminating against them heavily over the next twenty-five years. During this period which is known as the quirk culling era, only 1 in 5
children born with what we now would consider a quirk survived until adulthood." The doctor pauses for a few moments before speaking again "Up to this point it is estimated
about 7% of the human population was made up of quirked individuals" "People with quirks that changed their appearance were in the most danger of being attacked and with
no way to cover up their ability, they mostly lived in hiding. Those with transformation or activation-type quirks usually just hid their powers for as long as they could and tried
to live normal lives to the best of their ability " Inko's expression of intrigue turns into one of horror 'That sounds horrible' 'I'm glad I wasn't born into that generation' The
doctor takes another sip of water before picking up where he left off "The quirk culling era would come to an end in the year 2049 when the rate in which people with quirks
were born exploded to the point that only 4 in every 100 children born were born without some type of ability" "This marked the beginning of a new era called the quirk
domination era." "It gets its name from the way quirks began to dominate every aspect of society." "Industries like athletics, construction, and civil servitude were completely
revolutionized by quirks." Inko nodded because this was the part of the story she already knew. " This also marks the beginning of the emergence of heroes and villains." "The
dominance of quirks also slowed the development of technology to a snail's pace, Scientists have made estimations that if it weren't for quirks we would be at the very least
exploring the rest of our solar system by now." "As the current generation became old and the new generation entered into their prime the quirked population began to
outnumber the quirkless population 100 to 4" "This remains true even till this day" Inko's eyes widen 'I knew that the quirkless population was small, but not that small!' I'm
telling you this because as the quirked began to outnumber the quirkless, public perception of quirkless people began to change" "People began to view quirkless people as
nothing but a burden on society, Weaker inferior version of humans that had no place in the modern world." "As you may know already these ideas are still extremely
prevalent in society today, while most people only would refuse to associate with the quirkless, Some people truly believe that we would be better off if all quirkless died."
"Due to all the hardships they face the quirkless suicide rate has always been high but because of the rise of radical groups such as the Quirk Supremacy Front, it has
ballooned up to a staggering 40%" Inko's eyes fill with determination as she looks down at the sleeping form of Izuku 'I won't allow it!' Dr. Garaki then gives Inko a pointed
look "Upon learning that their child is quirkless, it is not uncommon for parents to abandon their child at the doctor's office so I am required to ask if you would like the clinic
to take him off your hands and drop him off at an orphanage?" Inko quickly responds, "No, that won't be needed!" The doctor smiles at her before saying "Good, I know you
will do everything in your power to protect the boy, I would hate to see another child lose their light over something they can't control."
Line break
"You Lie!" Hisashi is standing in the kitchen, shards of a forgotten plate lying at his feet. "Hisashi, baby please listen to me the doctor sai-" " I won't believe it" "I can't
believe it." Inko begins to shake in fear 'I've never seen him like this!' Hisashi then gets in her face "Proof, show it to me now!" Inko fumbles around in her pockets before
pulling out two photographs and showing them to Hisashi, "These are x-rays of Izuku's pinky toes" She frantically points at something on the picture "This is the joint that
only quirkless people have." Hisashi's eyes fill with rage as he pushes past Inko with enough force to knock her to the ground." Hisashi unable to contain his fury shoots a
column of flame into the air causing a few pieces of furniture to catch on fire. Izuku stands frozen in the middle of the living room watching the scene unfold in front of him as
he once more remembers the conversation he and his father had a few months ago ' Don't even put such nonsense out there' 'No son of mine will ever be an Impotent'
Izuku felt tears well up in his eyes as he watched his father stomp upstairs. He runs over to his mom who is still on the ground "Mom what's wrong with dad?" Inko just stares
blankly " Mom what's going on? I'm scared" Inko continues to stare blankly "He hit me." "He's never put his hands on me before." Izuku's attention is drawn back to the living
room as his father storms down the stairs.'Wait is he carrying a bag?' Realization dawns on Izuku as he scrambles up behind his father "Dad, wait where are you going!" He
grabs his knee before he can make it to the front door. "Dad plea-" *SLAP* Izuku falls backward as he clutches his now reddening cheek, Izuku's whole world seems to shatter
as he meets his father's hate-filled gaze "Don't touch me you Impotent freak!" Izuku begins openly bawling as Hisashi looks down at him with disgust " And I'm not your
father," Izuku weakly begs through tears "Daddy please don't go!" "I love you!" Hisashi scowls "I told you I'm not your father you freak," Hisashi then turns his attention to
Inko " You will be hearing from my lawyer," "If you just sign the papers and make this as easy as possible I'll let you keep my last name," Inko eyes red and puffy called out
from her place on the ground "Please Hisashi let's talk about this" But her cries fall on deaf ears as Hisashi just scoffs before walking out and slamming the door behind him
Izuku falls on his side in misery " You promised!" He screams at the door" "You promised," he says again softly,"
I've had some pretty shitty days, but even now I still consider this the worst day of my life.
