Katara: Water, Soldier, Mechanist, God, Earth, Fire, Spy, Archer, Monster, Air
(One by one, eight figures do something to show off their skills: the Waterbender weaves a stream of water from the ground, around him and then thrusts it towards the side, the soldier blocks an attack with his shield before throwing it, the mechanist has armor envelope him and then uses the repulsor on his hand to blast something on the side, the god holds a powerful hammer high to summon a bolt of lightning, the Earthbender kicks the ground bringing up a large rock before he kicks it away, the Firebender twists around as she summons fire from her foot before doing a high kick to the ground and makes the flames spread, the spy drops down from above and displays a few moves, the archer rolls across the ground and fires a few arrows, and finally the monster comes down from a jump and smashes his huge fists on the ground, the Airbender drops down and then with a circle of his arms he creates a blast of wind.)
Katara: Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.
(Docked on a shore, five Fire Nation ships with the Hydra insignia released their soldiers. With a jump forward and a palm thrust, the firebenders released a wave of fire as the Hydra soldiers used their advanced technology.)
Katara: Only the Avatar, master of all four elements could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished.
(The Avatar, a man with a crown on his head and dressed in robes stands on a pillar of stone as he bent the four elements of water, earth, fire and air to show his skill in the arts of bending. After releasing a powerful disk of wind, he disappears from existence.)
Katara: A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar: an Airbender named Aang and met the team called the Avengers.
(The water tribe siblings find a young Airbender frozen in block of ice. After freeing him, they are then joined by heroes called Captain America, Ironman, Thor, Hulk, Clint, and Natasha.)
Katara: And although with the teams help and his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone.
(At an Air Nomad path, Aang creates an air scooter and starts to have fun with it. But when he expands his circle a little bit, he runs right into a statue. He rolls over onto his back as all six of the Avengers then poke their heads from behind the statue to check on him.)
Katara: But I believe the Avengers and Aang can save the world.
(Aang, Steve, Katara, Tony, Thor, Bruce, Sokka, Clint, Toph and Natasha stand side by side, looking down at the world on a mountain's peak for a moment as the reader's view is turned upwards to the sun.)

Avatar Roku: Previously, on Avenging Avatar…
When she had him all alone and proposed her alliance to him, Loki then asked, "Say that I was interested in something like this. What would I need to do?"
"To prove your loyalty." Azula simply said. Glancing behind him she said, "Arnim Zola requests a few samples from the spider-boy, the annoying blabbermouth and the host of the black symbiote."
During the final battle for Ba Sing Se, Aang was taken by surprise from behind as a volt of electricity entered his back, courtesy of one smirking Azula whose fingers were smoking from launching the attack.
Aang was greatly surprised when the Avatar Spirit's eyes started to close a little. The sphere of cosmic energy around him faded. The Airbender grew scared when both the Avatar Spirit and the path underneath his feet fell away. Aang's consciousness fell back to earth, but unlike the last time, everything went completely dark for him.
The Ghost Rider was ready for the guy in the bug suit as he undid his chain from his person. Twirling it around for a bit, he threw the fiery weapon at the agent. The man cried out as the unearthly flames on the weapon burned him when it wrapped around his person. The Ghost Rider didn't seem to be in a merciful mood when he gave a harsh yank on the chain.
Iroh calmed himself to allow himself to be captured when the group had escaped. Two Dai Li agents came up and raised their arms to trap Iroh in crystal again, leaving only his head visible. Zuko looked to his uncle only for Iroh to look away in shame, disappointment and sadness.
Princess Azula sounded ecstatic when she said to her brother and the Red Skull, "We've done it. It's taken a hundred years, but the Fire Nation, with the aid of Hydra and the Dai Li have finally conquered Ba Sing Se."
As they made their way from the capital, Toph turned her head to the others and asked, "What do we do now?"
"For now, we need to find a place for Aang to rest." Steve said as Katara held the unconscious Airbender close. Bruce held the unconscious Pygmy Puma close while the other two gave worried whines and asked, "But where exactly do we go?"
"I think I have an idea." Sokka said and they all looked to him. Natasha got an idea and said, "Maybe he can help us."
The Ancient One thought that Thor would most likely make contact with Asgard to ask for their aid in the upcoming battles and thought to lend them even more aid. She then decided and asked, "Wong, are they ready?"
"Surely you do not plan on bringing them into this so soon?" Mordo asked as both sorcerers knew of whom she was talking about.

Book Three: Fire
Chapter One: Reassembling and Healing
Weeks ago…
Dark storm clouds gathered in the skies above the Earth Kingdom. The group of heroes and children had made it a great deal away from Ba Sing Se and their defeat at the hands of the Fire Nation and Hydra. They had found a cave that looked safe enough to hide away in at the moment. The cave was big enough for Appa to fit in, as the bison was currently beside the still form of his best friend, Avatar Aang. Momo sat next to the unconscious Aang's head and looked as depressed as the others in the cave. The ones in the cave were the six founding Avengers, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Earth King Kuei, Bosco, the three Pygmy Pumas, though one of them was unconscious in Bruce's arms, Peter, Johnny and Eddie. The rest of the group had gone out to scout the area and to look for some supplies for the group. Katara kneeled next to the unconscious Airbender and opened up her water skin before using her free hand to bend it out. She allowed the water to completely cover her hand before gently placing it on Aang's chest. After a moment, she looked up to them and said, "He seems pretty stable at the moment, but he's pretty banged up."
"Allow us." Eddie said before carefully moving between Clint and Natasha. Katara moved to give the host of the Venom Symbiote some room. When he was next to the still Avatar, Eddie placed his hand on Aang's shoulder and allowed Venom to travel from is body into Aang's. The Symbiote appeared as he left Eddie before disappearing into Aang. Natasha glanced to Katara and lightly commented, "I know that I've seen that before, but that doesn't make it any less creepy in my opinion."
"As long as it saves Aang, then it doesn't matter." Katara shook her head. They watched as some of the burn marks, bruises and scratches on Aang's body started to disappear. A moment later, the Symbiote returned to Eddie. They were surprised when the head of Venom suddenly appeared and said, "I was able to heal most of his wounds, but the scar on his back I unfortunately could not touch.
"There is a swirling of bad energy there that gave me a burning feeling." He shook his head. Thor the asked, "And you couldn't heal it?"
"Yeah, he's really sensitive to heat." Eddie explained while pointing to Venom. Tony then said, "Looks like Azula's lightning attack did more damage than we thought."
"And from what I could feel, his chakra seems blocked." Katara told them. Bruce shook his head, "That ain't good.
"If his chakra is blocked, then he can't access the Avatar State." He informed them. Steve then asked, "Can't he go through the training that you two and Johnny went through again?"
"He could, but it would take a while." Bruce shrugged. Then he added, "And given what the last one requires, it might be too painful for him."
"What does the last one require?" Toph asked, making Bruce a little nervous. He cast a quick glance to the Waterbender who was standing next to Natasha but didn't know exactly how to break it to them without sharing Aang's secrets without his consent. They heard Quill shout from the back of the cave, "We're back!"
"Oh thank goodness." Bruce silently said to himself as they all turned to see the rest of the group enter the cave. They walked in with a few supplies and Rhodey said, "We were able to acquire a few medical supplies from a nearby village."
"Luckily, there were no Fire Nation or Hydra goons there for the time being." Sam said as he set some of the stuff down. But Gamora shook her head, "However, it probably won't be long before they pick up our trail again."
"And if they find us and the kid and learn that he's still alive, then we really have a problem on our hands." Logan said, speaking of what everyone was thinking on their minds. Clint shook his head, "Unfortunately, Aang's in no shape to be moved right now."
They all looked down to the still form of Aang, wondering if and when he would awaken.
\_|_/
Inside of Aang's mind, it looked like he was asleep standing up. The young Airbender was wearing his usual clothes, untorn and almost perfectly brand new. He woke up with a gasp and found himself surrounded in darkness that went on forever in all directions. He looked about and called out, "Guys! Hello?!"
But there was no answer to his calls. He tried moving about, but didn't seem to be going anywhere. Aang scratched his head and questioned, "Just where am I?"
"If I could, I'd say that you're on the borders between life and death." A voice suddenly said behind him. He turned around to see a bald woman in orange robes standing there. Though Aang could feel her presence, he also felt that she wasn't fully there with him. Aang quirked a brow when he asked, "Who are you?"
"I have gone by many names, but you may refer to me as the Ancient One." She said with a kind smile. Since she answered that question, Aang asked another, "You say that this is the border between life and death?"
"In a manner of speaking." The Ancient One gave a small shrug as she turned away slightly. Then she said, "To be fair, you did take a bad hit to the back."
"I remember feeling a great pain before blacking out." Aang said, recalling a bit of a memory. Aang looked up to her and asked, "Did I die?"
"Nearly." The Ancient One confirmed and turned back to him. A worried look adorned his face. She was able to ease his fears by saying, "Let's just say that your friend managed to pull you back in time."
"So, if I'm not dead or anything, then why am I here?" Aang asked the biggest question. The Ancient One then told him, "Because you have unfortunately lost the Avatar Spirit."
"Wait, what?" Aang exclaimed really worried now. She then asked him, "What do you remember before truly blacking out."
Aang closed his eyes and remembered all that had happened. He remembered being within the sphere between the Avatar Spirit's hands and allowing the cosmic energy to flow into him. When he felt the pain enter him, he then remembered the Avatar Spirit falling and fading away. He opened his eyes and said, "So, the Avatar Spirit is gone?"
"Not quite." The Ancient One shook her head. She then informed him, "What is lost can be found. And what is made weak can become strong again."
"So, what can I do?" Aang asked her. She started to walk away a bit and Aang followed after her. The Ancient One then told him, "You will need to start at the beginning of your history. You and your past lives' history."
"You mean since the first Avatar?" Aang inquired of what she wanted him to do. She nodded and then said, "Then you will need to search within yourself to find the Avatar Spirit that resides deep inside you in order to fully reconnect with yourself."
"Then I guess I better get started." Aang said and she nodded. Then he asked, "But how am I to do that?"
"Through that door." The Ancient One pointed behind him. Aang looked behind him to see a door. But he became greatly surprised when he saw that it looked like the door to his room at the Southern Air Temple. He walked up to it while the Ancient One behind him started to disappear. When Aang stood before the door, he took a deep breath before grabbing hold of the knob and twisting it.

Back outside in the real world, the group was contemplating on what to do. Rocket was one to point out, "Why not just keep moving around? We could even do it on the Milano.
"That way we can at least get the kid to safety." He gestured to the unmoving Airbender. But Quill shook his head, "That will only work for so long and we don't have enough fuel to be doing that for too long."
"Older Peter is right." Thor agreed with him and earned a few odd stares from both Quill and Parker. The Asgardian went on by saying, "I do not think moving Aang each time we find ourselves in a fight to be wise. We will use up what resources we have and become more vulnerable."
"What if we were constantly on the move?" Sokka suggested. But Toph was quick to question it, "Uh, do you remember the last time we did something like that for a whole night?"
"No, no. Not like that." Sokka shook his head. He explained by saying, "What if we found a way to move Aang while making sure that we're still on the run until we have a new plan."
"Like on a boat?" Mantis asked, raising an idea for the Water Tribe warrior. They seemed to think it a great idea until Logan spoke up, "Good idea and all, but I doubt that the Fire Nation or Hydra will just let any old boat slip by."
"Not unless it was one of their own." Steve was quick to say. They looked to the super soldier and he said, "If we could commandeer a Fire Navy ship…"
"Then they'd think that we're one of their own." Katara finished, a small smile forming. The former Earth King spoke up, "But where are we going to find one? And do we have enough man power to seize one?"
"Man power, we might just have enough." Tony said when he looked over the individuals in the cave. Clint spoke up next, "But finding one to take might be a bit of a challenge."
"I think my dad could help with that." Sokka offered. Rhodey nodded in agreement, "He shouldn't be too far from here."
"The two of us could go and fly out for him and the Water Tribe fleet." Sam offered between the two of them. Steve nodded and said, "Just be sure to keep low and out of sight. We don't want anyone knowing to where and from you're going."
"Right." Both men of the U.S. military nodded. The two men walked outside and loaded up in their suits. When they were ready, both men activated their thrusters and took off into the skies. As soon as they were gone, Gamora looked to Quill and suggested, "We may need to make some calls."
"True, perhaps Kraglin and the other Ravagers could be of assistance." Quill nodded in agreement. Gamora also threw in, "Nebula might be able to make it too. Last I checked before coming here, she wasn't too far from our current position. She can follow our trail."
"Then let's get back to the Milano." He said and the rest of the Guardians followed after them.

Earth King's Palace, Ba Sing Se…
The rest of the night had quickly passed by for the conquering villains. They were reconvening within the throne room. Princess Azula once again was sitting on the throne of the overthrown Earth King. By her side was her brother and the Red Skull. The leader of Hydra looked to the entourage of villains and ordered, "Zola, report."
"The capital has been fully seized, sir." The robotic body of the Hydra scientist told them. He then said, "The Dai Li agents have been ordered to bring down a section of the inner walls to allow a majority of our forces to infiltrate the city and the soldiers will begin occupying as we speak."
\_|_/
Ba Sing Se's Inner Wall…
At that moment, it was a dark day for the fallen Earth Kingdom capital. Standing along the wall facing towards the city, eight Dai Lee agents prepared to carry out their orders. They leapt down while turning to face the wall and used their earthbending to create a groove along the wall as they went down. When they reached the bottom of the wall, the agents lunged forward and slammed their fists into the wall. Together, combined with their earthbending, the Dai Lee agents caused large cracks grow on the wall and through it. Some cracks branched out and connected to the other lines. When the cracks reached the top of the wall, everything around the section of the wall started to shake as it was brought down.
A few minutes later, soldiers from both the Fire Nation and Hydra started marching through the streets of Ba Sing Se. The people who had come to hide within the city kept inside the buildings out of fear as they watched the soldiers march down the street. Mr. Lee, Jin and others watched in shock from the door of the tea shop in the Lower Ring. On another street, Fire Nation soldiers on Komodo Rhinos made their way through with Hydra agents on both sides carrying rifles in their arms. On the side, Than, Ying and a few others watched in sadness as their last hope for peace was once again disrupted by the Fire Nation. Even Hope in her mother's arms cried with her mother from the turn of events.
A horde of Fire Nation tanks pulled up to the Earth King's palace. When they stopped, both soldiers of Fire Nation and Hydra climbed out of the tanks and made their way to the palace.

"Good news to hear." Azula nodded, pleased that she would have much to report to her father. Then she questioned, "What of the Avatar and the Avengers?"
"They were last seen making their way east. We're planning to send a squad out to capture." Rumlow informed. Another nod from the princess, "Very good. We can't leave any opposition to attempt to thwart us. Send them as soon as possible."
"Yes, Princess." Rumlow nodded. Wilson Fisk smirked, "Got to say, it felt so good putting those Avengers in their place last night."
"Too bad that we lost one of our own." Ty Lee said when she thought of the guy in the bug suit. Those who had been in the battle with the heroes down in the catacombs told them what had happened to their comrade. Princess Azula consoled her by saying, "Worry not. Through Hydra's science, I believe we'll have some new comrades to take his place.
"Correct?" She asked Zola. The robotic head nodded and said, "Yes. From the DNA and samples that we acquired, we will be able to replicate the abilities of these individuals or create more symbiotes."
"You want more of Venom?" Cletus suddenly questioned. This surprised just about everyone. The serial killer raised a hand and said, "Sorry. That was my colleague…" He looked to his shoulder and added, "Who should do better at raising his hand when he wants to ask a questioned."
Carnage's head soon emerged from Cletus' shoulder and it caused a few in the room to shiver. Mai leaned over to Ty Lee and quietly said, "That's gonna be hard to get used to."
"Uh huh." The acrobat slowly nodded. Carnage then repeated the question, "You want to make more of that waste of space?"
"If it helps the Fire Nation and Hydra assert their rule, then it is necessary." Johann Schmidt said as he looked to the red Symbiote. Then he added, "And once the new Symbiotes are complete, you will lead an army of them."
"Kind of like the sound of that." Carnage said while looking to his host. Arnim Zola then said, "If I may ask, that I, Cletus and Carnage all get going to a facility within Fire Nation waters to begin the process for the creation of the new symbiote army."
"And the DNA samples?" The Scarlet Widow asked him. The robotic head turned to her and said, "I want those sent to another location.
"Perhaps the more secure Fire Nation prison?" He suggested while turning his head to the princess. The question earned a small look from Mai which was noticed by Zuko. Azula looked to be thinking about it before saying, "I will speak to my father about such a matter. Perhaps he can even have the warden set up something for you."
"Thank you, your Highness." Zola nodded in gratitude. The Red Skull then said, "Go now. Get started on your work doctor. We will send word of what the Fire Lord says."
"As you wish, sir." Zola said with a bow. Then turning to Cletus he said, "Let us be on our way."
"They'll take a separate ship as the rest of us will be departing for the Fire Nation." The Red Skull said. Looking to the princess he asked, "Who will we be leaving to keep watch over the city?"
"I plan to leave the Scarlet Widow, Rumlow and Kingpin." Azula said and rose off the throne. Zuko watched as his sister came down the steps and up to the three when they stepped forward. Looking to the Scarlet Widow she said, "Make sure to keep the Dai Li on track while Rumlow deals with the militia. Between the two of you, finding our enemies will be your top priority."
"And me, your Majesty?" Fisk asked with a quirked brow. Azula smirked when she said, "I hear that you managed to run a criminal empire back on your world.
"See what kind of mayhem you could cause." She ordered with a grin. Kingpin grinned as well when he nodded, "Yes, ma'am."
"The rest of you, be quick in packing up." Princess Azula told the rest of the entourage. She glanced to her brother and said, "We depart for the Fire Nation soon."
Her mention of his home nation made Zuko look up and wonder about it.

Aang's Mindscape…
After passing through the door that the Sorceress Supreme had told him, Aang found himself in a lush forest. He didn't really recognize anything familiar, but a voice said from behind, "Feeling a little out of place are we?"
Aang turned around to see a man in a set of black and blue armor. The sleeves of the shirt were greatly short and on his belt had a buckle with a symbol of ten rings on them. Aang squinted his eyes as he thought the man to look a little familiar to him. The man had a small smile on his face as he slowly approached the young Avatar. Aang then said, "I feel as if I know-"
"Know me." The man finished the sentence. He nodded, "Well, I was a friend of one of your past lives. But that is not why I am here.
"I'm here to help you to rediscover your Avatar spirit." He said. Gesturing to himself he said, "I am Xu Wenwu. You will find out more about me later on, no doubt."
"Where exactly are we?" Aang asked Wenwu, not recognizing this place. Wenwu looked about the forest and said, "This is where the first Avatar, Avatar Wan, had accidentally separated the spirits of light and dark, Raava and Vaatu."
They both looked to see some figures in the distance. As if a mural had come to life, it indeed showed a man severing two spirits apart with a stream of fire. Wenwu continued, "After realizing his mistake, Avatar Wan and Raava desperately tried to stop Vaatu from spreading darkness and chaos.
"But unfortunately, like many places, the seeds of discord had been planted and lead to the separation of both the Physical World and the Spirit World." The story was told after many battles, that Wan had separated the two worlds. Aang looked to Wenwu as the older man said, "Each Avatar that came after him would try their hardest to achieve a semblance of the balance that was there, but the nature of mankind in most would get the better of them.
"You have seen and witnessed it." He pointed out. Aang thought of what the Fire Lord and his forebears had done to the world and what Long Feng had done with Ba Sing Se. Wenwu then said, "But that isn't to say that there aren't those who won't try to make the world a better place. Not just the Avatar."
Memories of all that he and his friends had done since he had been freed rushed through his mind. Aang then asked, "So, I just need to get back to my body."
"I'm afraid that it won't be that simple, Aang." A familiar voice said from behind. Turning around, Aang saw Frigga appearing through the forest. The queen of Asgard stopped when she approached the two. Confused by what she said, Aang asked her, "What do you mean?"
"You're mind and body are still a bit out of balance." She told him. Aang's eyes widened as his spiritual journey was not yet complete.

Guardians of the Galaxy…
The majority of the group were still sitting in the cave with the unconscious Aang while the others were trying to get in contact with their own allies. In the Milano, both Peter and Gamora were using separate comms to contact potential allies. Quill was currently talking with a bald man with a large metallic fin on his head and wore a red jacket over a red outfit. Kraglin didn't sound so sure when he said, "I'm not so sure I can just have the boys up and leave Knowhere, Quill. We're still doing a lot of building."
"And I understand that, buddy. But this war is a major problem." Quill told him. Then he asked, "Maybe not everyone, but perhaps a small squad of Ravagers. I'm sure that maybe the folks here can compensate for the efforts."
"I may have to speak with the other groups about it, but I'll see what I can do." Kraglin shrugged. Knowing that was about as good as he was going to get, Peter nodded, "That's all I can ask for."
"See ya." Kraglin said before the transmission cut out. With a sigh Quill leaned against the table and wondered how Gamora was doing.
In another room, Gamora had gotten in contact with her adopted sister. One the screen was a blue woman with cybernetic implants and a brown outfit. Nebula sounded a little surprised when she asked, "So, you've finally gone to the world that Thanos would mention from time to time."
"I did and am still here." Gamora nodded. Then she asked, "And we're in need of some help.
"The Avatar has come back, but he's in bad shape." She shook her head. Nebula lowered her gaze as her adopted sister said, "And we're in need of fighters."
"I will come." Nebula nodded. Gamora looked up to the screen as she then said, "And I will help a world that our Father helped destroy."
"Thank you, Nebula." Gamora greatly appreciated. Nebula then said, "I'll try to get there as fast as I can."
And with that, the video feed cut out. Gamora walked out of the room and found herself in the midst of Quill. Peter turned to her and he asked, "Any luck?"
"Nebula's on her way." She informed him. Then she returned the question, "And what of the Ravagers?"
"Well, Kraglin said he can't really pull everybody, but he may give us some fighters." He told her. Gamora sighed, "Some may not be enough to help fight this Hydra as well as the Fire Nation, but we can make do with what we have."
"Exactly." Quill nodded in agreement. With a gesture of his head he suggested, "Let's go and see if anyone else is having any luck."
Gamora followed him out of the Milano.

Falcon and War Machine…
The two U.S. military operatives flew over the Earth Kingdom skies as they neared the last place they had seen the Water Tribe soldiers. They dropped down on the shores of Chameleon Bay and Rhodey said, "Okay, we need to catch up to Hakoda and his men."
"Hopefully they didn't get too far." Sam said as they walked to the edge of the shore. But he felt stumped when he asked, "How are we supposed to find them?"
"Maybe if we fly from the mouth of the bay, we might run into them." Rhodey suggested with a shrug. Sam agreed, "It's the best thing that we can do."
"We do a sweep and if we can't find them, we go back to the others." Rhodey added. Sam didn't like it, but felt it was their best course of action. With a nod, they took off and flew for the river. They went about a quarter of the water way when Rhodey said, "I got something on the scanner. A number of vessels hidden on the sides of the river."
"That's got to be them." Sam said and they began their descent. They landed on one side of the river and the two soldiers looked over the side of a cliff. The Water Tribe ships were indeed sitting on the sides of the river, out of sight from any passing ships. Sam looked to Rhodey and asked, "How are we going to get their attention without spooking them?"
Rhodey looked about the boat and happened to see the Southern Water Tribe chief on one of them. Getting an idea he said, "Let's see if a flare will get their attention."
Raising an arm, he fired one of the flares he kept on him. The signal flare rose high into the sky before going off with a boom. It had the desired effect as Hakoda looked up from the ship to where the two were. When he saw who it was, he looked to Bato who went to calm down his men. Hakoda then turned to Sam and Rhodey and gestured for them to come down. Sam and Rhodey looked to each other before getting a move on.
…
"Didn't expect to see you guys again so soon." Hakoda said when the two joined the warriors. Rhodey then said, "Well, it's kind of an emergency."
"What kind of emergency?" Bato asked, a little curious as to what was going on. Sam then said, "The Earth King and his generals have been overthrown, Aang's in pretty bad shape at the moment and the invasion plan is at risk."
"The one that Sokka came up with?" Hakoda asked, remembering all that his son and heroes had told him. Rhodey nodded and Sokka and Katara's father asked, "What can we do to help?"
"Follow us. We can lead you back to where we're hiding out." Rhodey asked them. Then he said, "From there, we'll come up with a plan."
"Consider it done. Anything for you guys and my kids." Hakoda nodded. Turning to Bato he ordered, "Help me contact the other boats."
"Right." Bato nodded and moved off to carry out the orders.

Team Avenging Avatar…
Some of the group had gone out on patrol to wait for Sam and Rhodey to come back or to see if trouble was heading their way. The one of the first to come back was Natasha as she walked into the cave. She was a bit surprised to see that Steve had made it back first. The super soldier was sitting next to the unconscious Aang with his hands clasped together and his head bowed. Momo chittered and looked up to her when she came a little closer, she waited until he was done before saying, "Didn't think that you'd be doing that."
"Remember what I said when we first joined up?" Steve asked when he looked back to her. Natasha remembered the jet before Steve jumped out after Tony and Thor and repeated, "You said 'there's only one God and he doesn't dress like that.' I do remember."
"It never hurts to keep up with things like that." Steve pointed out and stood up. He gazed down at Aang and felt a little guilty about his friend's state. Natasha came up and said, "You can't blame yourself for what happened in the catacombs."
"Hard not to." Steve slightly disagreed with her. Natasha sighed but looked away when she heard footsteps approaching. Looking to the mouth of the cave she saw Clint coming in with the three kids and the archer said, "We got to incoming."
"Sam and Rhodey?" Natasha asked them. Sokka nodded, "Yeah, it looks to be them. Hopefully, my Dad and the other Water Tribe warriors behind them."
"Here's hoping." Steve said as he and Natasha joined them to head back outside. Momo looked to Aang before flying after them. Before joining them, Katara looked back to Aang one last time. Knowing she couldn't do anything for him right now, the Waterbender turned and ran after the others.
Outside the cave and down the slope, Sam and Rhodey touched down on the shore. They looked back to see the Water Tribe boats heading for their location. The former of the two looked to see Steve, Natasha, Clint, Toph, Sokka and Katara running down the hill towards them. The spy of the group asked, "I'm guessing the man hunt was a success?"
"Not exactly a man hunt, but we did find them if that's what you're asking." Sam shook his head with a light grin. They all looked to see the Water Tribe boats stop on the shore and Hakoda and Bato were the ones to disembark while the rest of the warriors remained. Hakoda walked up to the group and said, "Greetings to those who don't know me. I am Chief Hakoda."
"And I am Bato." His right hand greeted. The group went about introducing themselves with the super soldier starting, "Captain Steve Rogers."
"Clint Barton." The archer nodded. The Earthbender then said, "Toph Beifong."
"Sokka has told us a lot about you guys." Hakoda said as he looked over the group. Then he asked, "But aren't there more of you?"
"They're out on patrol at the moment. They should be back as soon as they can." Katara said, though there was a little attitude in her voice. While most were a little oblivious to it, a number of them caught on to it. But they dropped the matter and the chief asked, "How can we help?"
"We need to get Aang to safety. He's still out of it and we don't know when he'll wake up, Dad." Sokka told his father. Bato the asked, "What's your idea?"
"We're thinking of commandeering a Fire Navy ship." Steve said. Hakoda thought about it before saying, "I see why. Fire Nation would be hesitant to attack one of their own. Can't say the same about Hydra, though."
"We'll worry about that later." Clint said. The Water Tribe chief then said, "It's a pretty tall order. And with the number of solders with the enemy. We're gonna need a pretty big fighting force ourselves."
"We've got our friends." Natasha pointed out. Bato voiced his concerns, "I don't doubt any of us, I really don't. But I'd rather have a big enough force if we're to do this."
"You do have a point." Steve agreed. It was then that they heard the sound of footsteps. And they were fast approaching. Hakoda, Bato and the rest of the Water Tribe warriors were put on alert while the kids and the Avengers moved in front of them.
They calmed down when they saw that it was the rest of their group. But from the looks on their faces, it didn't look to be good news. Steve looked to Tony and asked, "What happened?"
"Fire Nation and Hydra." Tony panted. Thor took up by saying, "They had search parties out in a nearby village. And from the looks of it, they may be heading this way."
"We need to get Aang out of here, now." Katara said when she looked to her friends. Hakoda gestured to the fleet of Water Tribe boats and said, "Get him on board. We can be gone before they arrive."
"Right." The group nodded before Steve and Natasha rushed off to get Aang and Appa. While they were gone, Clint looked to the others and asked, "How much time exactly do we have?"
"Maybe an hour or two before they pass this way." Tony guessed with a shrug. Behind everyone they didn't notice as sparks started to appear while Wade sighed, "I wonder how things can go from here."
"Perhaps things can only get better from here." A new voice said from behind. The group looked back to see an orange, circular portal and four individuals came through it. The group was a little put off by the new arrivals.

Ba Sing Se dungeon…
Down in the cell were Long Feng sat before his death the night before, Iroh sat with his back facing the door. The clothes that he wore had become ragged when the Dai Li agents had placed him in after the fall of the Earth King and the Avatar. He was thinking about all that had transpired during the night and thought of his nephew. While he was greatly disappointed that this was the road that Zuko had chosen, Iroh was more sad about the young prince becoming so lost like his brother and the forefathers of the two. As he thought about Zuko, Iroh also knew that he could not remain a prisoner for forever. A plan began to form in his mind when he opened his eyes.

Aang's Mind…
Back in Aang's mind, Aang stood amongst Wenwu and Frigga, still a little unsure about all this. He looked to the two and asked, "So what now?"
"Now, you must rediscover yourself back in the mortal world." Frigga told him. Wenwu also shook his head, "And to undo mistakes of the past."
"I won't let you down." Aang promised with a nod. Then without another word he walked off into the darkness. They watched him go until he faded into the darkness. Wenwu looked to Freya and said, "He'll have a lot to overcome if he's to regain the lost spirit."
"If there was an Avatar to do so, it's him." Frigga said, having great faith in Aang.

Team Avenging Avatar…
Everyone on the beach was greatly surprised or confused with the sudden new arrivals, even those who had just arrived. One of the girls from the group from the portal commented, "I think we're a long way from San Francisco, Shaun."
"I know what you mean, Katy." The teen on her left agreed with a nod. The third of their group, another young woman of Chinese descent, looked about and said, "It's just like in the stories."
"Okay, not to disrupt anyone's sightseeing or anything, but what the heck is going on here?!" Peter questioned and raised his arms into the air. The first girl pointed to him and shouted, "Hey, it's that spider guy from New York!"
"He seems taller on T.V." Wade said in a voice like the girl's, earning a questioning look from her. Sokka waved him off and said, "Ignore him. Who are you guys?"
"I am Wong, sorcerer of Kamar-Taj." The man in front introduced. Turning to the three teens he gestured, "These are Xu Xialing, Xu Shang-Chi and Chen Katy."
"And why are you here?" Toph asked from behind Thor and Clint. Xialing stepped forward and told them, "We were brought to aid you and the Avatar in the growing threat of the Fire Nation and Hydra."
Her words really surprised the large group. Natasha then asked them, "Okay, how do you know about all this?"
"Because our father told us stories before the war even started." Shang-Chi said, earning confused looks. Katara shook her head, "That's impossible. The war of our world is a hundred years old. So-"
But she didn't get to finish when a crack of thunder came from overhead, making them all look up to the sky. And then they and the newcomers were really startled when a pillar of light came down next to the portal. When the intense light faded, four more new individuals stood between the two groups. Three of them were men, one having a long red beard and red hair and wielded a battle axe, the second was a man with short blonde hair and had a long sword strapped to his side and the third man looked like he hailed from Asia on Earth, but the way he dressed and held a chained mace in his hand said otherwise to everyone. All three men wore Viking armor. The final member of the group was a woman with long black hair, red Viking armor had two swords strapped to both sides. While Wong and the three behind him stood at the ready as did the big group, only one person seemed to recognize the newcomers. Thor lifted his arms and shouted, "My friends!"
"Thor!" The four greeted and rushed up to him. Thor brought the blonde and red-haired man into an embrace while the other two remained back. Clint lowered his bow and said, "Oh, yeah. Now I somewhat remember them."
"You met these guys?" Toph asked him. Clint shook his head, "Not personally. But their arrival was all over S.H.I.E.L.D.'s radio."
"Oh, that day." Natasha remembered from being told so long ago. Thor released them and said, "Oh, uh, everyone, I'd like you to meet my friends.
"Volstagg." He gestured to the man with the red hair and axe. Volstagg nodded his head, "Greetings."
"Fandral." The prince introduced to the man with the blonde hair. Fandral gave a gentleman's bow, "Charmed."
"Hogun." He pointed to the final man. Hogun gave a respectful bow to them, "It is an honor to meet you all."
"And Lady Sif." Thor introduced the final member of the newcomers. Sif repeated the bow, "Hello there."
"Not quite like Obi-Wan, but it'll do." Wade waved it off and once again earned some odd looks from her and the others. Steve then said, "Okay, now we have more man power.
"Let's commandeer us a ship." He said with a smirk. The others smirked as well before nodding in agreement.

Author's Note: I do apologize for the lack of action in this chapter, but to be fair, there are some episodes where there's no fighting. I may include a scene with more action in the next chapter. But at least I'm back with Book 3. I do ask that you guys be patient in regards to chapters as I do have lots of things going on, but I am glad to be working on this project again. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
