Chapter 7: First Night at the Granger's

A sudden knock was heard, Phoenix and Hermione looked up, "Hermione, Phoenix?" Rose, Hermione's mom's, voice came from the other side.

Phoenix shoved the book under her covers just as the door opened and Rose peeked her head in. "Hey, you two, we are going to bed. Please don't be too loud. And I know it's summer, but don't stay up all night." Hermione shook her head as Phoenix smiled. "I'm going into the office with your father to look at a patient, but my schedule is free after that. I thought you and I could show Phoenix around London?"

"Really!" Phoenix asked excitedly.

Rose nodded. "I know you are probably still wide wake, but please try to get some sleep. And if you want, make a list of places you want to see, and we will try to visit what we can before you two go back to school."

Phoenix's smile grew wider.

"Good night, girls."

"Good night." The two said.

Rose smiled and closed the door. When her footsteps were no longer heard, Phoenix pulled the book out from underneath her, walked over to her trunk, and placed the book inside. She will go throw it later.

"Do you have any ideas about where you would like to go tomorrow?" Hermione asked, watching her friend.

"I have one place in mind." Phoenix turned around, heading back towards the bed. "I know it's a long shot, though." She sighed, then looked back at her friend getting in a comfortable position. "How many castles are there still intact from around the 10th, maybe 11th or 12th centuries?"

Hermione looked at her blankly. "That's a wide range. I'm sure some are still around, depending on their significance and upkeep." Phoenix nodded, her smile dropping a bit. "Mum may know more. She loves castles."

"Really?"

Hermione nodded, followed by a yawn. Phoenix frowned and looked at the clock. It was getting late. Even though she was still energized, she could tell her friend was falling asleep by the dropping eyes.

"You can go to bed, Hermione. I don't mind."

Hermione shook her head stubbornly. "I'm okay," she responded during a yawn.

Phoenix rolled her eyes. Being in two different time zones is not helping. Feeling a shift on the bed, she looked back at her friend, now passed out, and smirked. They were back in their Hogwarts routine in less than a day. And school hadn't even started. She looked over at her bag and orbed it to her. Phoenix decided she was going to do a bit of drawing before getting to sleep. She reached over and turned the bedside lamp on and orbing the bedroom light off. Getting comfortable, she started drawing.

She didn't know when she fell asleep. Phoenix looked around, her pad and pencil on the floor, and Hermione gone. She laid there stretching, a yawn slipping out and her sleep brain waking up. Phoenix reached over onto the floor, grabbing her pad and paper. She must have fallen asleep right after finishing her drawing. Sitting up, she looked at her drawing and smiled. It turned out exactly how she envisioned it. Another yawn escaped her. Placing the pad down, she rolled slowly out of bed, getting ready for the day before heading downstairs to look for Hermione.

"There she is. You ready for lunch?" Rose asked. Phoenix noticed the keys in her hand. She must have just come in. Phoenix looked on the couch, her friend sitting there with a book in her lap but looking up at her.

"Um." Phoenix's stomach gave out a loud growl.

Rose laughed. "I'll take that as a yes. What do you have there?" she asked, noticing the pad Phoenix had.

Phoenix looked down at her pad, then back up. "I drew a castle that I believe is in England. I was wondering if maybe we could see it, but not sure if it's still around?" She walked down the stairs, holding it out for Rose to grab.

Rose grabbed it from her and looked her eyes widen in admiration. "Hermione mentioned you were an artist, but wow. For someone your age, this is amazing."

"Thank you," Phoenix smiled sitting beside Hermione.

Rose looked at the drawing. "I believe this is still around." She looked away in thought. "Yes, I think this one was used during a Renaissance fair John and I went to during our collage years. Let me see if I can find a number." She went off towards a closed door Phoenix assumed could have been an office.

"Did you know your parents went to Renaissance fairs?" Phoenix asked, waiting for Hermione's mom to return.

"No, I did not know." Hermione's attention was pulled away from her book the moment her mother mentioned the unknown information. The two looked back to where Hermione's mom went to see her return.

"Well, girls, they are still open. A fair is currently going on, but they also do tours of the castle." Rose looked at Phoenix. "Is this where you would like to go?"

Phoenix shook her head in excitement. "If it's okay with you?"

Rose smiled. "I think it would be fun. I haven't been to a Renaissance fair since Hermione was born." The three's stomachs gave their opinions. "First, though, we need to go to lunch." Rose laughed, and the girls followed.
