Peter Jones was thrilled.
Peter was due to become a first time father in a dozen days and he was eagerly awaiting the day his daughter would come into the world.
But Peter had one order of business to attend to before that sacred day arrived.
He needed to select a name for his daughter.
As Peter was a man who was a far better thinker when he was stimulated by energy, he decided to go jump on his trampoline before giving this very important decision some more serious thought,
Peter jumped on his trampoline for five minutes and five nanoseconds and when he got down his brain was ready to go to work.
As Peter's brain worked itself into high gear, he quickly thought of the perfect name for his upcoming daughter.
"Megan," thought Peter happily and confidently, "I will be naming my daughter Megan, and she shall be known as Megan Jones."
It was the perfect name on so many levels.
The name Megan meant pearl.
Pearls were precious, rare, and shiny.
Peter knew that his daughter was going to become the most precious thing in the world to him the nanosecond she came into the world.
Truly special days were rare and the day that Megan Jones would be entering the world would be one of those truly special days for Peter.
And well, Peter knew his daughter was going to be the thing in his life that made his world's light shine the brightest.
There was no more deeply personal experience than the experience of becoming a father.
This reality brought different ranges of emotions in different expectant fathers and for Peter these emotions were mostly a combination of joy and embracing the moment.
Peter was lucky. He had never lost anyone particularly close to him, so he didn't have the need to name his daughter in loving memory of anyone. He had also never faced any significant adversity in his life, so he had no need to name his daughter after someone who had helped him overcome tough times or been there for him during tough times because the worst things that had ever happened to him were all too trivial to remember.
But for a man who had such a happy life, this was the happiest time of all.
Becoming a father was special, meaningful, and sacred.
As such, why not give his daughter a name that reflected that.
Since Megan meant pearl, naming his daughter Megan Jones allowed Peter to encompass his feelings of how precious the opportunity to become a father was, how rare truly special days were, and how his daughter was going to become the brightest and shiniest light in his life all in one by naming his daughter Megan.
Happy with and confident in his decision, Peter got back up on his trampoline and jumped again for five more minutes and five more nanoseconds, with this jumping being a way of celebrating how happy he was with his choice for his daughter's name.
