Star Wars: The Last Jinn
Coruscant sparkled like an emerald in the daytime sky. The entire planet was decorated with tall, silver skyscrapers. A shuttle landed on the landing pad and two hooded figures emerged . The two figures removed their hoods, revealing their faces. The first figure was a tall graying man with long hair and a short beard. The second man was clean shaven with a short ponytail and a braid. They were greeted by a young woman of black hair tied in braids and deep blue eyes wearing jewel blue robes.
"Masters Qui-Gon Jinn and Kenobi, my master Chancellor Valorum has been awaiting your arrival," greeted the woman.
"It is a great pleasure to see you again, Amara Sen, " replied Qui-Gon Jinn.
"We are honored your master would call on us," said Obi Wan graciously.
"We are greatly in need of your assistance. Chancellor Valorum is deeply troubled by the blockade of Naboo," Amara said.
"I assure you we will do everything in our power to aid the Chancellor," Qui-Gon assured her.
Chancellor Valorum appeared, dressed in emerald robes. "Masters Qui Gon, Kenobi, I am grateful you were able to travel so far. If you would, I would like you to act as our ambassador to the Trade Federation to force them to reach a settlement on the blockade."
"We will do everything in our power to reason with the Trade Federation and end this blockade," Qui Gon replied.
He and Obi Wan bowed before Chancellor Valorum .
"Master, how does the Chancellor expect us to reason with these Trade Federation types?" Obi Wan asked.
"I assure you it won't be a problem," Qui Gon replied. "The Viceroy is a coward. It will be a short negotiation. Now, I must speak with the Chancellor."
Obi Wan boarded their shuttle. Once they were alone, Qui Gon met with Amara.
"You don't really think the Federation Viceroy will go quietly, do you?" Amara asked.
"Either way the negotiations will be short," replied Qui Gon.
"I am glad to hear that," Amara replied.
Before long, she filled Qui Gon into her arms and their lips met. "I had hoped for some assignment that would bring you back."
"I am grateful the Chancellor sent for us, else I would not get to see you," Qui Gon replied.
Amara smiled but it was a brief smile eclipsed by a frown.
"Something is wrong. What is it?" Qui Gon asked.
Amara opened her overcoat revealing a large round belly.
Qui Gon was overjoyed but that joy was overpowered by fear. "My love, this is the most joyous news."
"What will we do? If anyone finds you're the father, they will expel you from the Jedi Order," Amara replied .
"No one needs to know," Qui Gon assured her.
"Do you think Obi Wan could help us?" Amara asked.
"I trust my apprentice with my life, but the less people know, the safer our child will be," Qui Gon replied before he placed his hand on Amara's large belly. "Boy or girl?"
"They tell me it will be a girl," Amara replied. "I want to call her Zara."
"A beautiful name," Qui Gon agreed.
"Just promise me you'll come back to us," Amara told him.
"I will do what is in my power to return to you and our child," Qui Gon replied.
Amara and Qui Gon embraced one last time. Amara watched from afar as Qui Gon boarded the shuttle.
Many weeks later…
Amara was part of the landing party on Naboo as Obi Wan Kenobi returned. Amara was dismayed to see Obi Wan alone.
"Master Kenobi, where is Master Qui Gon?" she asked.
Obi Wan was grim. "I'm afraid he was killed by a Sith Lord, my lady."
Amara's knees buckled and she collapsed, screaming.
Obi Wan was quick to catch her. "Help! Secretary Sen needs medical transport!"
Immediately, a medical shuttle was fetched and Obi Wan boarded with a screaming Amara. Once on board, Obi Wan did his best to calm the pained Amara.
"Amara, save your energy," he whispered. "This child will be strong and healthy. Did you have a name in mind?"
"Zara," Amara whispered between pained breaths.
"Zara Sen will be strong," Obi Wan assured her. "Focus on your breathing."
Amara stopped screaming and closed her eyes as she breathed long and hard breaths. In her eyes, she saw Qui Gon returning to her. She saw him with their child. She heard his voice in her head.
"Amara, Amara," he called. "I am always with you and our child. I am one with the Force and I shall watch over you."
When Amara opened her eyes, she was in the medical center surrounded by droids and Obi Wan at her side. The medical droid beeped and whistled.
"It's time to push," Obi Wan whispered. "Come on, Amara. Come on, push!"
Amara screamed as a contraction tore through her body. She collapsed in exhaustion and fell back to her bed. Another contradiction ripped through her.
"Keep going! Don't give up, Amara!" Obi Wan urged her on.
Yet another contraction shook her body.
"This is it. One more push, Amara," Obi Wan whispered. "Come on, Amara. One more. Push!"
Amara screamed so loud she was sure the next planet could hear her. Amara fell back to her bed and she heard the wail of her new child. The medical droid whistled .
"It's a girl," Obi Wan whispered. "It's Zara."
Obi Wan took the baby in his arms and held her before Amara, who was instantly taken by her daughter.
"She's beautiful," Amara whispered.
After a few moments, Amara was settled into a room and she sat up in her bed, feeding her daughter. Obi Wan entered her room and sat by her side.
"Obi Wan, it's good to see you," Amara greeted.
"Good to see you, Amara. How is the child?" Obi Wan asked.
"She is strong, Obi Wan," Amara replied before she could sense tension. "I understand you are not here just to discuss my child."
Obi Wan sighed. "I could sense the Force is strong with her."
"Indeed. She will be powerful some day," Amara agreed.
Obi Wan paused for a long moment before he spoke again. "I know. Qui Gon is her father."
Amara did not speak for a long moment. "Qui Gon Jinn never played by the Jedi rules, you knew it as well as I. I saw him. I heard his voice in my head. He told me he's one with the Force and he'd be watching over us."
"I'm sure he will be," Obi Wan replied. "I'm so sorry, Amara. No mother should have to raise a child alone."
"I won't be alone," Amara replied. "Qui Gon's spirit watches over her. And she is part of him."
Obi Wan nodded. "I will watch over your child and when the time comes, I will see to it that she is trained to be a great Jedi like her father."
"I am honored," Amara said with a smile. "Would you like to hold her?"
Obi Wan held Zara Sen in his arms and smiled at her. "Hello there."
