The disclaimer telling you that I don't own any Ghosts characters is causing drama. Takes place during Hello Brother. The drama never stops at Woodstone does it?
As The Ghosts Turn
"Oh good," Sasappis remarked as he and Thorfinn entered the kitchen finding most of the other ghosts smelling the food in the kitchen. "You guys are here. Where's Pete and Carol?"
"Pete's still watching TV and I don't know where Carol is," Alberta admitted.
Nancy was there as well. She popped her head out of the fridge. "I think Carol went for a walk outside. By the way have you guys smelled this new cheese? It's really nice! What's it called again?"
"Brie," Hetty told her. "It's French."
"Ooh fancy," Nancy nodded.
"Okay good," Sasappis nodded. "Because we've got major news!"
"Carol was hitting on Pete just now in living room," Thorfinn spoke up. "Says his skin is taut and calves are young and shapely. Clearly she desires intercourse with Pete."
"What?" Trevor did a double take.
"Are you serious?" Isaac gasped.
"Good lord!" Hetty was stunned.
"Well, this is a strange turn of events," Nigel admitted.
"Thor!" Sasappis snapped. "I wanted to tell them that!"
"Thorfinn knows," Thorfinn replied. "That's why Thorfinn said it. What? Why can't Thorfinn get his share of telling gossip around here?"
"It is a nice change from your murdering Danes stories," Hetty admitted.
"Wait Carol now has the hots for Pete?" Alberta was stunned. "When did this happen?"
"Just now," Thorfinn blinked. "Thorfinn just told you."
"Hang on," Nigel spoke up. "Are you telling me Pete's wife, the woman who cheated on him with his best friend and then married the best friend when Pete died…Is now after Pete completely ignoring her current husband?"
"Pretty sure Thorfinn said that," Thorfinn blinked. "Thorfinn knows you heard him."
"To be fair," Hetty spoke up. "Jerry isn't on the same astral plane as Carol is now. It is til death do you part. Right there in the vows."
"Didn't think Carol would take that literally," Nigel remarked.
"She's only been dead a few weeks," Isaac admitted. "That's pretty fast especially in our world."
"Not everybody waits over two hundred years before they start dating," Alberta told him. "But yeah…I gotta admit that's pretty fast. But why is she interested in Pete now?"
"We think it's because Pete stood up to Carol and she learned he was loyal to her," Sasappis explained.
"I think it's a little more than that," Trevor explained. "Carol may be in her 70's but Pete is still physically in his 30's. So…There's that."
"Oh, I get it," Nancy realized. "She's one of those big cat things."
"You mean cougar," Trevor realized. "An older woman who dates younger guys is a cougar."
"That's the one," Nancy nodded. "Hey she even has the cat ears! It fits!"
"Technically Pete and Carol are around the same age," Hetty corrected. "It doesn't really."
"But when Pete died, he stayed the same age," Nancy explained. "Carol didn't."
"In other words," Trevor realized. "Carol figured out that she's got a hot young dead husband wandering around. And now she's on the prowl for him."
"Boy did she get over Jerry fast," Alberta groaned. "Anybody else notice she hasn't mentioned Jerry once since she died?"
"I did," Trevor nodded.
"Me too," Sasappis nodded.
"That is a little strange now that you've mentioned it," Isaac agreed.
"So much for Jerry being her true love," Alberta snorted.
"Carol is not exactly bereft with grief at her parting with her second husband," Hetty nodded in agreement. "Now that she's been reunited with her first."
"The minute Pete started standing up for himself and fighting with Carol, she starts getting attracted to him," Sasappis remarked. "And the worst part is he's starting to fall for her again! What gives?"
"Wait what do you mean Pete is starting to fall for Carol?" Alberta did a double take.
"He means Pete also has some desires for Carol," Thorfinn explained.
"Are you sure?" Isaac asked.
Thorfinn remarked. "Pete said he was dealing with powerful temptations. His words."
"Yeah, we're sure," Sasappis nodded. "He had the same look in his eyes when he's talking about Hot Pockets."
"The plot thickens," Isaac remarked.
"This is getting good," Nancy cackled.
"Why would Pete even think about going back to that cheating witch?" Alberta snapped.
"I get it," Trevor said. "I've been in relationships where all we did was fight. But the sex was amazing. In fact, fighting was kind of a turn on."
"Seriously?" Sasappis was stunned. "That's just weird."
"Not that weird," Thorfinn nodded. "Happened a few times with Thorfinn's wife. Sex very hot after fights like that. And also with friend Viggo and wife. They fight all the time before sex. Of course, they usually fought with swords and knives."
"Dear lord," Isaac winced. "I'm guessing their arguments got messy."
"Depends on who was dumb enough to stand between them," Thorfinn shrugged.
Sasappis spoke up. "You don't think Pete is actually considering going back to her, do you?"
Thorfinn looked at Sasappis. "Pete said powerful temptation. You heard this. You were in room. Why does Thorfinn have to repeat everything?"
"No, no way Pete would go back to her," Sasappis shook his head.
"I don't know Sass," Trevor remarked. "Forty years without sex is a long, long time."
Thorfinn looked at Trevor. "Try hundreds sometime."
"Oy…" Trevor shuddered in terror. "My point is…Angry sex is really good sex. And that is hard to turn down. Almost impossible."
"Except for Viggo that one time," Thorfinn added. "To be fair wounds he got from last fight were pretty severe. It was weeks before he could use his stabbing hand again. And from then on, he always walked with limp."
"Don't forget," Isaac added. "Pete and Carol were also married for over 16 years. A lot of memories are there. Good ones as well as bad."
"And they have a child," Hetty added. "As much as I hate Elias, I am grateful for the fact he gave me children. Not that they were perfect. They had problems."
"Like murdering people?" Alberta asked.
"That too," Hetty winced.
"Pete can't get back together with Carol," Alberta snapped.
"Why not?" Trevor asked.
"He just can't!" Alberta snapped. "Do I really need to give you a reason?"
"Okay but…" Trevor paused. "He doesn't really have to stay with Carol. Just have a little fun with her."
"What do you mean by that?" Sasappis asked.
"We all know Jerry hooked up with Carol while Pete was alive," Trevor pointed out. "Why can't Pete hook up with Carol now that he's dead?"
"You mean revenge sex against Jerry?" Hetty asked.
"Exactly," Trevor nodded. "Hey Pete hasn't had sex for over forty years. Let the guy have a little fun. And then he can dump Carol."
"Well, it's not like the two of them don't have it coming," Alberta grumbled. "And I'd be lying if I said I didn't play that game once or twice. But this is Pete we're talking about. I don't know if he can handle it."
"You're right," Trevor nodded. "He's going to need help."
"No, he isn't," Sasappis snapped. "Because Pete is not going to get back with Carol! I'm not putting up with that in my room!"
"So go somewhere else for the night!" Trevor told him. "That's what I did whenever Thor had Flower over."
"I know," Hetty looked at him. "You went into my room."
"And sometimes I'd sneak into an empty room and sleep there," Trevor admitted. "What? We have no guests and what Sam doesn't know won't hurt us! Nobody's said anything about Carol sleeping in her room!"
"That's true," Hetty admitted.
"She's not staying with me," Alberta grumbled.
"Pete can't get back with Carol," Sasappis said emphatically. "That man has too much self-respect!"
"Self-respect?" Nancy snorted. "Have you met Pete?"
"The Cheese Sniffer has a point," Hetty remarked. "Peter is a people pleaser."
"He's a doormat that's what he is," Nancy remarked. "I'm amazed the man doesn't have Welcome stamped on his face."
"I agree with Sass," Alberta spoke up. "Pete can't get back with Carol! No way! No how!"
"He doesn't have to take her back completely," Trevor remarked. "Just use her for sex like she used him then cut her loose."
"No, Trev!" Alberta snapped. "Pete won't get back with Carol and that's final!"
"What do you care if they get back together or not?" Sasappis looked at Alberta. "I thought you would be one of the first people wanting them to get back together."
"Because Pete chasing after you like lost Dane looking for favorite sheep," Thorfinn added. "And you rejecting him many, many times."
"Yeah, if Pete has Carol you're off the hook," Trevor told her.
"Great," Alberta said sarcastically. "But Pete isn't that type of guy Trev! And I don't want him to be!"
"Huh," Nancy remarked. "Interesting."
"What?" Alberta asked.
"Just can't help but notice you're very protective of Pete all of the sudden," Nancy shrugged. "Any reason why?"
"Pete's my friend and he's a good guy," Alberta said. "I don't want him hurt by Carol again. Is that so hard to believe?"
"Okay, okay…" Nancy backed off. "Just asking."
"I'm with Alberta," Sasappis said. "Pete is not going to get back together with Nancy."
"I don't know Sass," Trevor shrugged. "Never underestimate the power of angry sex. Trust me on this one."
"Thorfinn thinks Trevor might be right," Thorfinn nodded. "From what Thorfinn has been hearing, the sex may be only reason Pete and Carol stayed together in life. And daughter obviously."
"Well, they're not going to get together and that is that!" Alberta said defiantly and stormed out.
"What was all that about?" Sasappis blinked.
Nancy spoke up. "As that guy from England once said, that lady is protesting a lot!"
"What are you getting at you little potato sack?" Hetty asked.
"You know how some people only want something when they think they can't have it?" Nancy told her. "Or if someone else has it?"
"You mean like my sister Margaret?" Hetty realized. "Who coveted my shoes even though her huge feet never fit in them?"
"Exactly," Nancy nodded. "I think Alberta is starting to realize she may not be as uninterested in Pete as she thought."
"That is an interesting wrinkle," Nigel remarked.
"That would explain why Alberta suddenly got so hot under the collar at the mere mention of Pete getting back with Carol," Trevor agreed.
"Albera interested in Pete?" Sasappis scoffed. "Our knot obsessed do-gooder almost never goes against the rules Pete? Yeah right!"
"I'm not so sure Sasappis," Hetty remarked. "Women have been known to turn their heads over a beau they've spurned if another is interested. I've seen it. Before he married me Elias chased after quite a few high society maidens who turned him down. And once we were married, then they decided it was fine to sleep with him. Joke was on them. Elias wasn't as great a lover as he thought he was. And half of them got syphilis."
"Man, and I thought the Brie would be the most interesting news I would take back to the Cholera Pit today," Nancy shook her head snickering.
