Episode 16: Gonna Rule the School!

Finally reaches Rustboro City, Mew and the others are now in a tower overlooking the city.

Everyone is amazed, "Wow!"

"Just look at that!" May says.

"Awesome!" Max and Tomo reply.

"Rustboro City looks amazing," Molly says.

Brock points ahead, "Rustboro Gym should be over there."

"I see it. I can't wait for my Gym Battle," Mew says.

Then turns to May, "How about you?"

"Well uh, Maybe," May replies.

The group then begins walking along the tower to look at the view some more. Suddenly, Mew, Tomo, and Max hear a voice. The three soon look at the bench and see a Poliwag under it.

Max calls out, "Look!"

"It's a Poliwag," Tomo says.

Max walks over, kneels down and peek under the bench, "Hi there."

The Poliwag freaks out and turns away, frightened

Max says, "If there's something wrong with you, then maybe we can help. Kay?"

The Poliwag turns back around.

"Hey," May says.

Poliwag comes out from under the bench before Max picks it up.

"Hi, Poliwag," Mew says.

Max says, "Hey there. Are you lost, Poliwag?" But soon notices something, "What's that?"

What Max noticed was a band of some sort around Poliwag's tail with a Pokéball symbol on it.

"Some kind of symbol?" Max questions.

"Hmm, well maybe this Poliwag belongs to someone," Mew says.

"Poor Poliwag, it must have gotten lost," Jen says.

Suddenly, they hear a voice, "Poliwag!"

Everyone looks and sees a woman run up. She has red eyes and brown hair, which is tied up into two pigtails with a red bow, with a small black U-stripe. She wears pink tights and a small tie-like pink scarf around her neck. She wears a white shirt with a purple school uniform dress and a pair of purple shoes.

The woman says, "Oh, good. I've been looking all over for you."

Poliwag happily hops into the woman's arms

"I was so worried," The woman says in relief.

Then asks Max, "Did you find it?"

"Uh…" Max responds before answering, "Uh, huh."

"Well, I just can't thank you enough," The woman says.

Suddenly, someone calls out, "Miss Roxanne!"

Everyone looks and sees children standing behind her.

"You found Poliwag! Alright!" A boy with a purple jacket and has a Magby says.

A girl wearing a pink and light green dress happily says, "That's so great!" holding a Pidgey in her arms.

As the girl spoke, Max spotted a child with blue hair looking nervous and sad.

The girl with Pidgey says, "See? Everything's okay."

But the boy with Magby says, "Except our class trip is ruined, and poor Poliwag is scared completely out of its mind."

"I'm sorry," the boy with blue hair apologizes.

The girl with the Pidgey angrily says, "Do you have to be so mean?"

"What do you care?" The purple jacket boy says.

The girl continues, "You know Kenny's afraid of touching Pokémon, so leave him alone."

But then Roxanne says, "Alright. That's enough, you two."

Both kids turn away in a huff, "Fine!"

Then Roxxane says, "Now, Kenny, I hope that you have learned something from all of this."

"Yes," Kenny says.

Roxanne reassures, "There's no need to be afraid, and don't be upset either, because you tried your hardest," She then says to the students, "Okay, class, it's time for us to head back to the Training Academy."

"Kay," The students reply.

Then Mew asks, "Excuse me, what's that?"

Roxanne says, "It's officially known as the Pokémon Trainer's School. It's an academy right here in town where students can learn all about the world of Pokémon."

"Wow!" Max says, amazed.

Roxanne then says, "These children are students in my beginner's class. We're here on a field trip, but it's just about time for us to be heading back now."

"How cool! I want to go to that Pokemon academy, too!" Max says eagerly and chuckles.

He turns to May and asks, "So can I, May?"

"I don't know, why don't we think about it?" May says, unsure.

"Well, I do plan to have my gym battle, and it's coming up," May says.

Roxanne turns to Mew, "Are you four here for battles at the Rustboro gym?"

"Yes. And so's May," Mew says.

": Uh.. yeah," May says, sounding unsure.

"Well, that works out just perfectly," Roxanne says, "The Rustboro gym just happens to be right next door to our training academy."

"Really?" Molly asks.

"So why don't you all stop by and visit the school before you head off to your gym battles?" Roxanne suggests.

Brock then asks, "Will you give us the tour, Roxanne?"

"Alright!" Max happily says.

"I think it sounds like a good idea," Mew says.

"Can we?" Molly asks.

"Sure," Mew says.

"Yeah. Not good to rush into a battle, that's what they say," Max says.

As Max talks, the student in the purple jacket watches on, suspiciously.

Later, the headmaster is giving the group a tour.

The headmaster says to Max and May, "So, I hear your mom and dad run the Petalburg gym, that right?"

"Yep!" Max and May answer.

"So sir, what kinds of classes do you have?" Mew asks.

"We have quite a few classes," The headmaster says.

The headmaster opens one of the classroom doors, "This classroom has students training to be Pokemon doctors.

"Pokémon doctors?" Brock says.

They soon observe another class in progress

A specialized class training for Pokémon Contests," Headmaster says.

"This class is for me!" May happily says.

"It looks like fun," Molly says.

Soon, a trainer calls out, "Go, Sneasel!"

Sneasel comes out and flips and spins around before landing with a pose that both it and the trainer do.

Eagerly, May asks, "Where can I sign up?"

"That's cool," Jen says.

And then the next class.

One trainer calls out, "Typhlosion, Flamethrower, go!"

Typhlosion calls out.

Another trainer calls out, "Feraligatr, Hydro Pump!"

Feraligatr attacks.

Soon, both Pokémon lock up in a grapple.

"Whoa! Awesome!" Mew says.

"That's cool!" Tomo says.

It's revealed that the group is observing another class.

Then the Headmaster says, "And this class specializes in Pokémon battles."

"So cool. I like to be in that one," Tomo says.

"Me too," Jen says.

Then Max walks over to ask, "Excuse me, but could we please go to Miss Roxanne's beginner's class now?"

"Oh! Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Of course. This way," The Headmaster says.

Meanwhile, back at Rustboro Tower…

"Nice view," Jessie says.

"Lots of sightseers down there," James says.

"You know what dat means," Meowth says.

"We could open up one of our souvenir stands in a snap!" Jessie says.

"A tourist trap!" James says.

Team Rocket soon fantasizes what this tourist trap would look like.

"Keepsakes for suckers! We'll be rich rich rich!"

"Woooobbuffet!" (Millionaires!) Wobbuffet says.

Back at the Training Academy…

"Here we are. This is Miss Roxanne's classroom, Max," The Headmaster says and opens the door.

But when the Headmaster opens the door, what Max sees is Professor Oak on the video screen, shocking Max.

"So, in conclusion, there are many different types of Pokémon in existence. Is that clear?" Professor Oak says.

"Yes, Professor," The students reply.

Soon, Mew and the others arrive and walk up to the screen.

"Professor Oak!" Mew says.

Prof. Oak notices them "Hey, Ashley. And Brock, Tomo, Jen, Molly, and May. And the rest of your ever-growing group is here, too. How are you?"

"Hi, Professor," Brock says.

"Hello," May, Jen, and Molly reply.

"Hi," Tomo says.

Then Professor Oak turns to see Max, "And you must be, Max."

Max soon becomes nervous, "I... Uh, well... I, uh…"

"Okay, Max. Say hello," May says and pushes his head down lightly.

Professor Oak chuckles, "It's fine."

Then Roxanne says, "You see, everyone. Here at the training academy, we receive lectures from Professor Oak via video phone.

"Since you, Ashley, I'm assuming you finished your gym battles, am I right?" Professor Oak asks.

"Uh…" Mew says, confused.

"So, who was the victor? Was it you, or Miss Roxanne?" Professor Oak asks.

Roxanne soon answers, "Actually, Professor, I haven't battled either of them yet."

Mew soon realizes, "Wait, Roxanne, you're the Rustboro Gym Leader?"

"Yes," Roxanne answers.

Then the Headmaster says, "Ms. Roxanne is one of the most accomplished students to ever graduate from this academy. Her battles were always flawless and she was quickly promoted to gym leader."

"That's cool," Tomo says.

"Well, thank you, Tomo," Roxanne says.

Then says to Mew, "And I'll be teaching this class until tomorrow night. So would you mind if we put off our gym battles until the day after?"

"Sure. No problem," Mew says.

"Good luck to both of you and have some great battles," Professor Oak says.

"Thanks," Mew and Roxanne say.

The Professor Oak says to the students, "And you kids keep catching those Pokemon. Goodbye for now."

The students say their farewell to Professor Oak however…

"Wait, Professor!" Max calls out.

Professor Oak turns to him.

Then Max says, "I just want to say, I read all your books, and watched you on TV, and listened to your radio show, and read all your papers! I'm just really, really a big fan of yours."

"Well, I'm very honored. Thank you, Max. Bye now," Professor Oak says, and the call ends.

Just then, the boy with the purple jacket calls out, "Hey, kid."

"Yeah?" Max questions.

The boy then says, "So if you're really such a big fan of Professor Oak's, why don't you try answering this one? What type of attacks are most effective against flying Pokemon?"

"That's easy. Thunder, Thunderbolt, and other electric attacks like those ones," Max answers.

Baffled, the boy says, "Okay, what attacks would work on Pokemon that use Dig to go underground?"

"Also easy. Earthquake attack or Magnitude would both work," Max says.

"You are correct, Max," Mew says.

Soon, the boy shouts, "So you do know some stuff about Pokemon, big deal!"

Roxanne says to the boy, "Okay. That's enough of that, Tommy."

"Hey, I was just asking," Tommy says.

Then Roxanne says, "Tommy, you students are not here in this class to compete with one another, but to learn and grow together, as friends."

"And it's important to know our school motto; 'Go forth together with me, friend', and that's what we like to practice," The Headmaster says. He then turns to Max, "Why don't you come back again tomorrow, Max? Join us for a full day and you'll learn more about our school."

"Wow! Really?!" Max replies eagerly. Then turns to May, "Maybe you should try and come with me, May. It wouldn't hurt to get a little studying in before your gym battle."

"Gym battle?" May says in thought; sweat drops, "I gotta find a way out of that."

Later, everyone is inside the Pokéball storage area, surprising everyone.

"There must be hundreds of Pokéballs here!" May says, amazed.

"All of the academy's Pokemon are right here in this vault," The Headmaster says.

Max then asks, "Can I ask a question?"

"Of course, Max," Roxanne says.

"So, I thought that Pokemon are trained to only obey one trainer and nobody else, isn't that right?" Max asks.

"Well, usually they are, but the Pokemon here have been specially trained so they'll obey anyone in the academy who chooses to battle with them," Roxanne explains.

"So you're saying that they would even do what I told them to do?!" Max asks.

"I'll answer that question tomorrow," Roxanne says.

Little does the group know is that Team Rocket was listening in on the whole thing.

"Oh, did you both here what I just heard?" Jessie says.

"Pokemon that will do whatever we want!" James replies.

And Meowth says, "It's like da foist bank of Pokéballs!"

"Woooobbuffet!" (Wonderful!) Wobbuffet appears.

Wobbuffet is quickly recalled by Jessie.

"And it's about to have its first robbery," Jessie says.

"The biggest Pokéball bust there's ever been!" James says.

And Meowth says, "Too bad it ain't a real bank, we're low on dough," As he shakes a coin purse.

"Here's to the team!" Jessie says.

"How we love to scheme!" James says.

"I'm sensing a theme," Meowth says.

The next day at the Pokemon Training Academy, where Max is attending class and studying a Pokemon book while the others watch.

"Class hasn't even started and Max is already studying," Brock says.

"I know," Mew says.

Soon, the girl from the day before comes up and sits next to Max.

The girl asks, "Hi, there. What book are you reading?"

"Just a guidebook about Pokémon," Max says, "And you're…"

"Anita." The girl says.

"Hi, my name's Max," Max introduces himself, "You're so lucky. I wish I lived somewhere like Rustboro City that had a Pokémon Academy."

"I'm really not as lucky as you think, Max," Anita says.

"Huh? But why not?" Max asks, confused.

"Because I don't care about Pokémon," Anita answers, "The only reason I'm here is because my parents make me attend."

"You're kidding," Maxy says, surprised.

And Anita says, "And Kenny feels the same way. He's so afraid of Pokémon, he doesn't want to touch them. But adults say that you should start getting used to them when you're still young. But, what do they know, anyway?"

"Yeah," Max says.

Suddenly, Tommy's voice calls out, "New kid!"

Both Anita and Max turn and see Tommy standing by them.

"Today we'll finish up what we started yesterday," Tommy says, and turns in a bit of a huff.

"Tommy. I don't like it when he thinks he knows it all," Anita says, and turns to Max, "But yesterday, when you were here, it was my favorite day in class ever. It was funny watching him get so mad because you were able to answer all his stupid questions."

Soon, Roxanne calls out, "Good morning, class."

"Good morning, Ms. Roxanne," The students reply.

"Welcome, we have a lot to go over today," Roxanne says.

Later, the students are getting to have some quality bonding time with their Pokemon of choice

"Give our Pokémon a warm welcome and make sure you're aware of how they feel as you interact with them," Roxanne says.

As Roxanne talks, Mew, Brock, and Molly, along with Pikachu and Eevee are watching.

Then Molly notices, "Hmm, where are Tomo, Jen, and May?

"Don't know," Brock wonders.

"I think Tomo and Jen want to check out the battle class," Mew answers, "May didn't say where she's going, but I have an idea as to where.

Meanwhile, May is watching a Pokémon Contest class in progress as a trainer and their Scyther went through their routine.

The instructor says, "Instructor: This is the Pokemon Contest class. As you can see, Pokemon and their trainers must work as a team."

And Tomo and Jen are watching the battling class. There's one student battling with a Charizard, and the other trainer has a Dragonite.

Back at Roxanne's class…

Roxanne approaches, "Ashley, Brock, everyone, it would be a real honor for my students if they could meet all of your Pokemon."

"Sure," Mew and Brock says.

Mew calls out, "Come on out, guys."

Mew calls out Treecko, Taillow, Sprigatito, Fennekin, Lillipup, Drowzee, Faye the Togepi, Skitty, Shiny Ditto, and even Magmar Jigglypuff, Emolga, Shaymin, and Electabuzz.

Then Brock calls out his Pokemon, "Come on out!"

Brock's Pokemon are Forretress, Voltorb, Machoke, Pansage, Seedot, Lairon, Bagon, and a Pinsir, but Lotad simply sits calmly by Brock's feet, seemingly asleep.

Brock calls out, "Lotad? You think you can wake up?"

Lotad opens its eyes and suddenly seems bright and full of energy, while Brock stumbles in disbelief over the sudden mood change, prompting the kids to laugh while Max looks on in embarrassment.

Roxanne says, "That's enough."

She then says, "Now, did you know that Ashley is a skilled trainer and that Brock here used to be the gym leader of the Pewter City gym? So pay attention, you can learn a lot from all of them."

"Okay," The students respond.

Brock turns to Roxxane and asks, "So, Roxanne, how did you know I was a gym leader?"

"Well, you know, the Pewter City gym is the flagship of all rock gyms," Roxanne says,

Then says to the students, "Class, take note how Brock has taken great care of his Pokemon. Very exceptional."

"Well, thank you, Professor," Brock says and turns to his Lotad, "This Lotad of mine is actually a bit of an oddball, since it often likes to sleep. In fact, at one point, its Water Gun attack was often weak."

The students are impressed.

One asks, "Wow! Can we see it?"

"Yep!" Brock says and calls out, "Lotad, Water Gun attack!"

However, Brock just sweat drops and chuckles sheepishly as Lotad simply sits and stares at the class.

Brock kneels to Lotad, "Hey, uh, what's going on?"

Lotad turns to Brock and fires the attack right in his face, and everyone giggles.

"Looks like your Lotad has a mind of its own, huh, Brock?" Roxanne says.

Mew soon notices Kenny all by himself.

Mew approaches him, "Hi."

Kenny turns and walks away.

"Don't be scared," Mew says.

Kenny turns around.

"Hey, I just want to introduce you to my friends, Pikachu and Eevee. Pikachu is practically one of my best friends, and Eevee is like my sister."

"Your best friend? Your sister?" Kenny asks.

"Yeah. Pikachu, Eevee, and I do everything together. Of course, I have Eevee longer than Pikachu. And in Eevee's case, she's practically a sister," Mew says.

The Pokemon agree.

Kenny, Eevee, and Pikachu lock eyes for a fleeting moment.

"And Pikachu has the softest, cutest little cheeks," Max says, and tickles them to make Pikachu laugh, "Would you like to touch them, Kenny?"

"You'd love that, wouldn't you, Pikachu?" Mew asks.

As Ash talks, Tommy watches from across the room before walking forward, though Anita knows he's up to something while Kenny attempts to reach for Pikachu. However, Tommy trips and accidentally steps on Poliwag's tail, causing it to fire a Water Gun.

"Watch it!" Max cries out.

Max manages to duck Tommy out of the way just in time as Eevee uses Protect to help out.

Roxanne asks, "Max and Kenny, are you both okay?"

"Yes," The boys answer.

Tommy apologizes, "Sorry, I accidentally stepped on Poliwag's tail."

But Anita confronts him, "Liar! I can tell you did it on purpose!"

"Did not. Why would I possibly do something like that?" Tommy says, acting innocent.

But he turns to Max and sticks his tongue out at him, angering Max a bit.

Max quietly says, "Loser."

Suddenly, Max hears Eevee's voice, "Eevee, Eevee?" (Are you okay, Kenny?)

Max turns to see Eevee checking on Kenny.

May says, "Eevee is asking if you're okay?"

"Oh um, I'm okay," Kenny says.

Eevee smiles, "Eevee." (I'm glad.)

Seeing Eevee smiles makes Kenny smile a little and gently pet Eevee's head. Max smiles and glad Eevee is able to help Keeny out.

Back at the Pokemon Contest Coordination Class…

"Alright, class, time for a pop quiz," The instructor says.

May sweat drops in response, "What? A pop quiz? I think I better quit while I'm ahead."

May then sneaks away before the quiz starts.

Later, Roxanne's class and the rest of our heroes are outside on the battlefields

"Let's begin our Pokemon battle training," Roxanne says.

As Roxanne talks, it's revealed that Tommy and Max are the ones about to do battle.

Roxanne then explains, "You'll each use one Pokéball. You will continue battling until I judge one of your Pokemon unable to battle."

As Roxanne lays down the rules, both children look at each other. One cocky, and the other still mad about what transpired earlier in class.

"Alright, Max, good luck," Mew calls out.

May soon runs up. Tomo and Jen also rush back to check out how the others are doing.

"Hi Tomo. Jen. how did the battle class go," Mew asks.

"It was great," Tomo says.

"We had a great time," Jen says.

Then Brock asks, "Hey, where've you been, May?

"Oh, looking around," May answers.

Then Roxanne says, "Now, select your Pokéball."

Both kids do so

"Are the competitors ready to begin?" Roxanne asks.

"Yes," Max and Tommy answer.

Then Roxanne says, "Let's start the match!"

"Here it goes!" Tommy says and throws his Pokeball.

Soon, Magby comes out.

"Magby!" Tommy says.

Max does the same, "Now, go!"

And out of the Pokeball is Poliwag.

"A Poliwag!" Max says.

"Water type vs Fire type. That's good for Max, he'll have the advantage," Tomo says.

And Tommy says, "But don't think that you've won yet, new kid! Battle is all about technique."

In his thoughts, Max says, "It seems like Tommy really knows what he's doing. Should I start off with Water Gun? Or should I try and lower his defense power first?"

"Max, what are you doing? Make a move," May calls out.

"Max is trying to think of what to do. Even though he has a Type Advantage, Tommy might have a plan up his sleeve," May says.

Suddenly, Tommy says, "While you're thinking, let me know what you think about this! Magby, Flamethrower!"

Magby fires the attack again.

Then Max calls out, "Go, Poliwag, Defense Curl!"

Poliwag curls up and survives the Flamethrower

"That was smart! He started by raising his defense power!" Brock says.

Magby then calls out, "Magby, Flamethrower!"

Magby attacks again.

Max then calls out, "Belly Drum, Poliwag!"

Poliwag takes the attack and starts beating its belly with its tail.

"Yeah! You got even more attack power, now!" Max says.

Tommy then calls out, "Again, Magby!"

Magby attacks again.

Then Max calls out, "Defense Curl!"

Poliwag curls up and takes the attack, however, repeated hits were taking their toll on Poliwag as it dropped to the ground, battered, though Max is more focused on increasing its attack and defense before attacking.

"That raises your defense power again!" Max says.

"Max should really try having his Poliwag use an offensive attack," Jen says.

"You're right. It's good he's going on defense and increasing his attack, but it won't matter unless Max also makes a move, "Mew says.

"Maybe I should try Water Gun now?" Max thinks, but then says, "Nah, maybe later I will."

"This match is mine!" Tommy says and calls out another attack, "Magby, Flamethrower!"

But before the attack can be executed, an alarm goes off.

The headmaster rushes out, "Something terrible has happened! All of our Pokéballs have been stolen!"

"What?!" Roxanne asks, shocked.

"They're all gone!" The Headmaster says.

"How can that happen?" Mew asks.

Soon, familiar laughter is heard as a giant Wurmple robot on treads appears with a bag of Pokéballs on its tail. And the Team Rocket motto kicks in.

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble, we're in a class of our own!

James:

Make it double or leave well enough alone!

Jessie:

To protect the world from devastation.

James:

To unite all people within our nation.

Jessie:

To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James:

To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie:

Jessie.

James:

James.

Jessie:

Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light.

James:

Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!

Meowth:

Dat's right!

Everyone cries out, "Team Rocket!"

"Correct!" Jessie says.

"Now answer this, who has all the Pokéballs?!" James calls out.

"I'll give you a hint," Mew says.

"And we're getting them back!" Mew says and calls out, "Eevee, Pikachu, Thunderbolt em!"

Both of them fire the attacks, but a door closes to block the attack and protect Team Rocket before the door opens again and they mock Pikachu and Eevee for failing at least twice more as Pikachu and Eevee try two more times.

"Those three are getting on my nerves!" Mew says.

Then Brock calls out, "Forretress, Tackle attack, now!"

Forretress comes out.

Jessie then calls out her Pokemon, "Seviper, Poison Tail, now!"

Seviper comes out and smacks Forretress with a Poison Tail.

May then calls out, "Wurmple, String Shot, go!"

Wurmple comes out and sprays its silk.

Then James calls out, "Cacnea, Pin Missile!"

Cacnea comes out and fires the attack and breaks the strings of silk.

"Aw, looks like your Wurmple might be a weakling. Let's take a peek at what mine can do," Jessie says and calls out her Pokemon, "Wurmple, come out!"

And her Wurmple comes out.

"Oh no!" May says.

"Another Wurmple, just like yours!" Brock says, surprised.

Hearing that makes Jessie upset, "WHAT?! 'Just like yours'?!" And picks her Wurmple up, "My Wurmple is much, much cuter, aren't you? Yes. Kissy, kissy."

Wurmple nuzzles Jessie.

Jessie then says, "You're too cute for this icky battle, buh-bye," and recalls Wurmple as she talks.

Max turns to Poliwag, "Poliwag, do you want to battle with them, too?"

Poliwag confirms

"Poliwag, Belly…" Max calls out the attack.

But Kenny calls out, "No, don't!"

Max turns and looks at Kenny.

Then Kenny says, "In this situation, um... It's better to use an offensive attack."

Everyone is surprised.

"Kenny, that's really great advice," Roxanne says.

Then Kenny says, "And Max, like Ben suggested, I think that in your last match, you really would've won if you had just used Water Gun sooner."

Max is impressed, "Wow! Thanks, Kenny."

And calls out, "Poliwag, Water Gun!"

Poliwag fires the attack and knocks Seviper silly.

"Alright!" Max cheers.

"Awesome, Poliwag!" Anita says.

"That was great, Max," Jen says.

"Thanks, but thank Kenny for the advice.

Then Tommy comes in, "I'm not gonna just stand here and let you steal the show! Go, Magby, Flamethrower, now!"

Magby fires the attack and nails Cacnea.

"Alright!" Tommy cheers.

"Pretty good," Max says, impressed.

Tommy was surprised by Max's compliment, but turns away, pretending he didn't appreciate it before smiling.

"Looks like they're doing good," Mew says.

"Yes," Roxanne says, "Why don't you wait and give the boys a little longer to see how they do in this battle?"

Mew nods her head in response.

Then Kenny says to the boys, "Max, first you and your Poliwag will go in and take Team Rocket's attention away from us, okay? Then Tommy, you come in with Magby and do whatever attack seems right."

"Okay!" Max and Tommy agree.

Tommy says, "Let's do it!"

"Yeah!" Max says.

Seeing it, Roxanne says, "This is better than I hoped for! The boys are finally working together as a team! And they've come up with a great plan."

"What if it gets dangerous?" Brock asks.

"Don't worry. I'll step in, only if necessary," Roxanne says.

Then Max calls out, "Go, Poliwag, Water Gun!"

Poliwag performs the attack at Team Rocket, but they close the door before it hits while Tommy and Magby get in position and then reopen it and mock Max.

James calls out, "Go, Cacnea! Pin Missile!"

Cacnea fires the attack.

But then Max calls out, "Poliwag, use Protect!"

Poliwag does so, nullifying the pins

This makes Jessie mad, "I've had enough of this…"

Suddenly, something catches Jessie's nose, "Do you smell something burning?"

"Yes. And it seems to be getting hot," James says.

And soon, the robot is revealed to be getting hotter. They all soon realize what's going on.

"It's a Woimple infoino!" Meowth cries out.

It's soon revealed that Tommy is having Magby use Flamethrower to heat up the robot.

"Magby, go!" Tommy calls out.

Kenny then turns to Anita, "Anita, want to try?"

"Okay," Anita says. She then calls out, "Pidgey, Wing Attack, go!"

Anita lets Pidgey go and it uses the ordered attack to cut the sack full of Pokéballs loose, all the while Team Rocket and their Pokemon get hot feet.

Then Roxanne steps forward, "Why don't I take it from here, boys?"

"Okay," The boys agree.

Roxanne then calls out her Pokemon, "Geodude, come on out!"

And her Geodude comes out of the Pokeball.

Roxanne then calls out, "Rollout attack!"

Geodude starts rolling like a ball and careens right towards the Wurmple robot.

"Wow, it's quick!" Molly says, amazed.

"We need to do something!" Jessie panics.

"Someone grab a hose!" Meowth cries out.

Wobbuffet tries to get a word in, but also gets a hot foot as Geodude nails the robot hard enough to make it short-circuit and explode, sending Team Rocket flying.

"Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.

All the kids celebrate, and even Kenny gets in on the fun and actually touches Magby and Poliwag.

Tommy approaches Kenny, "Kenny, you're not so bad after all."

"And you're a great coach," Anita says.

Kenny chuckles with a smile, "Thank you."

Max says to Tommy, "Your Magby's Flamethrower was unbelievable."

"Yeah, but we only pulled it off because you drew their attention away," Tommy says.

And Anita happily says, "This is so much fun! I never thought studying Pokemon could ever be so exciting!"

As Max responds to Anita, everyone else looks on.

"Well, it looks like now, they've all become buddies," Max says.

"And that's gonna help them all become better trainers," Mew says.

"Yes, that's true," Roxanne says.

Then Brock says, "Your Geodude is really an awesome Pokemon, Roxanne. Being somewhat of an expert on Rock types, let me just say, I'm impressed."

"Thank you, Brock," Roxanne says.

Brock turns to Mew, "Better watch out, Ashley, looks like you're in for quite a battle tomorrow.

"Believe me, we all know. That's okay, the stronger our opponent, the stronger we battle," Mew says. Then turns to her Pokemon, "Right, guys?"

Pikachu says, "Pikachu!" (Absolutely!)

"Eevee!" (We're ready!) Eevee says.

"Sounds like you're all ready. Maybe I'm the one who should be watching out for you, Mew," Roxanne says.

Mew becomes surprised, and so does the others.

"Wait, you mean, you knew?" Mew asks, surprised.

Roxanne giggles, "Yes. I suspect something when your Eevee used Thunderbolt and how you talked to your Pokemon. I also saw the Rustboro Pokemon Contest and saw the performance. I knew it's you, the way you talk to Eevee, and how it can use Stone Edge. Not many trainers can accomplish that. But don't worry, your secret is safe." And winks.

Mew giggles, "I guess there's no fooling a gym leader, huh." Then becomes determined, "Still. I'm looking forward to having our battle."

"Me too," Roxanne says.

Learning of Roxanne's strength and ability as the Rustboro gym leader, Mew, prepares for her first Hoenn gym battles as they strive for the Hoenn League.
