By the first sunbeams of the morning Rude crossed three sectors with the chopper himself. At the end Elena forced him to land it before he collapsed from exhaustion. All the available machines were in the air, people were crossing the entire city and around on foot, even Soldiers took their part.

"I don't understand" Tseng said at the office of Rufus Shinra at the new building of the company. "No sign of him. How is that possible? "

Rufus wasn't even trying to hide how tired he was, having a coffee cup in front of him the size of a bucket.

"What was that thing?" Rude yelled at him earlier this evening. "If you are hiding something, I swear… You said nothing about the mutant too!"

"I don't know, I swear to you." Rufus said. "I dare think it was the mutant, but there's nothing that powerful, a copy can't create such destruction.

"Genesis?" Tseng was not taking a seat; he was going to check the perimeter again.

"We haven't seen Genesis for decades, why would he take him? If Genesis wanted revenge he would aim at me."

"We don't know what Genesis wants, boss, his brain works in mysterious ways."

"You think it's Genesis behind all this?" Rufus was on his feet, checking the tablets with the radar.

"I don't know what to think. I am passing every single possibility. When we were fighting those remnants years ago… We never had an idea what they were up to. We must be prepared for anything."

"You are right" Rufus nodded.

"Including…" he was not looking at his boss when he finished his line. "Including not being able to find Reno. He would give us a sign, his tracking device is off, we don't even know what we are against!"

"We will find him" Rufus thought it's about time to interrupt before Tseng said the words he was afraid of. I am going to call some advanced forces."

"You should have a rest, this will make you start seeing noises." he nodded at the large coffee cup.

"I am already seeing them" Rufus crossed the room, preparing for another check. "We are together in this. We will find Reno, and whatever is playing games with us, god help me, I'll kill it myself! Even if that's Genesis."

The tension was tearing his muscles while Reno stood in the pitch black room and at some point felt how his shoes reached something wet and sticky, hopefully not the blood of another victim, locked here. He had to fight, every monster has its weak point. Holding the chain that kept his hands together, Reno took not so deep breath because of the smell around. One sharp fast attack, the element of the surprise, maybe his phone was still around.

Hours passed, it was a second day, that monster wasn't appearing and fatigue took over. Also other Turks, looking for him, had no sight of them either. Nobody knew where he was, he had no idea either.

"It could be worse, stop complaining" again he was talking to himself.

Every normal man would give up to fear and frustration, Reno was made of stubbornness and he was thinking of the moment he would get out of here and finally have that pizza and cold beer. And see his colleagues and his room. And a shower, damn it, he needed a shower. And medicine. And a few days of good sleep.

Then his thoughts went to Rude. If he wasn't able to make it out of here, he hoped they would find him a suitable partner. Elena was great for the role, Rude was into her like forever, they would be perfect together. Reno wasn't a romantic soul, but he hoped his partner wouldn't do something stupid if he never returned and fit into the situation.

We need to have hope, some would say. Reno knew hope saved nobody. Hope was what those poor people had, locked in the giant tubes somewhere underground, before physicists of Shinra turned them into abominations, a genetic mistake. Him hoping that monster would show mercy on him wasn't an option but simply a delusion.

When the door cracked open and the light coming from his left side told him the white eyed thing had returned, he made his move even before that thing realized he wasn't sitting there anymore. Reno swept his arms on the ashen silhouette's neck preparing to pull and at least to disarm him and hopefully get away. But when he tightened the grip his hands passed through him like he was made of smoke.

"Oh, shit" he drew back and felt the wall behind him. The huge disembodied man turned, staring at him with his empty eyes.

Despite not having a flesh to be touched, he grabbed Reno and threw him away through the room, he fell and dared not to get up. Oh, shit!

Blood came under his red hair, his teeth clenched.

"You are getting on my nerves, boy!"

Shadow man made a few steps and Reno saw long black claws growing from his hand. Reno raised his hands to fight back when someone behind them said:

"Then you should get some help for those nerves."
