DISCLAIMER FROM 2024
At the encouragement of my readers, some of whom have followed me for twenty years, I have decided to reupload my old fanfiction stories. I do this with some reservations. I wanted to revise them before posting them again, but the sheer amount of words involved means that that would take me years to accomplish, and it would be better for me to focus on writing new stories instead. Maybe someday I'll go back and make the edits, but for now, I'm reposting everything, warts and all. So expect characters to be out of character, expect nonsensical sections, and expect there to be many grammar, punctuation, and spelling mistakes.
In addition, please understand that the story you have in front of you was written by a very different person. I was a teenager who was raised on 90's media, who lived in an abusive household and in a white conservative town. I was steeped in problematic beliefs and had an equally troubling sense of humor. Anything I wrote before 2010 will reflect that.
However, my understanding of the world has grown since then. I'm an adult now, out of the closet and firmly politically left. I'm also much better at my craft these days. It makes me cringe to think about how my earlier writing must have hurt some of my readers.
That being said, these stories were also ones that people loved and missed. If they can still make someone's day brighter, that's worth something. Maybe they can even inspire others by showing them how much someone's writing can grow with time and practice. Plus, my younger self worked hard on these. Even the darkest ones comforted her during a difficult time in her life. So maybe I owe her something better than burying her words.
So, without further ado, welcome to my old fanfics! You're in for a messy and melodramatic experience. As always, I hope you enjoy the read.
THE MEWTWO CHRONICLES: PART 1
CHAPTER 1: RESCUE
It was night in the big city and many would now be asleep. The stars and crescent moon shone brightly in the clear sky. But one being was not the least bit sleepy as he darted throughout the city looking for things he could put to his use. The small cloth that hung around his neck warmed him enough that this cold spring night would not bother him. His violet eyes scanning the area for signs of his secrecy. There were no humans in sight. He quickly flew down to garden/park and gathered some fruit in the bag he had with him. It wasn't as if he were stealing either. Pokémon were allowed to eat the food here, in this park. He did not want to be seen all the same.
(That seems like enough. If I am lucky I shall not be spotted this night.) he thought to himself.
Quickly he flew into the sky, leaving no signs except the barren branch where he had picked the fruit behind him. The moon silhouetted his floating form. Then he sped off to the abandoned part of the city. His home was there.
He landed on the roof of his building and opened the door to the inside. In the dim light you could make out a variety of old furniture, obviously human-made but brought there by him and repaired.
(I will never understand why humans throw so many useful things out when they could be easily repaired. Such wasteful creatures.) he said in telepathy as he put down his bag of fruit on the table, (I have enough food for another couple of weeks.)
He turned and went back outside on the roof. As he stood there in the moonlight he wondered a question that so far he had no answer to.
(Why? Of all places why did I choose to live in a city? A human settlement? Why did I not find a isolated place like Mt. Keyna? Surely that is what I wanted? But here there are humans, creatures that would use me to gain their purposes. I know now that not all humans are bad but... Why? Why does it feel more that I belong here, instead of out in the wild? Is it because that the sharp edge of that void within me has somewhat gone. Or is it that I long for some action, as humans would call it, in my life? It does not matter though. I have established myself here. I will stay here...for the time being.)
As he stared at the sky he heard something from below. As he looked down, he saw humans. It was not an uncommon sight, and seemingly most humans around here favored a bad aura. But this sight was different. Between two men a little girl, about seven years old he would guess, struggled to break free. A cloth was tightly bound around her mouth so not a sound escaped her lips. The men also dragged behind them a pokémon in an electric wired net. He guessed from the roars of protest it was making that it was a Absol and a female at that.
"C'mon you little runts stop struggling. We're nearly there now!" told one of them.
"Yeah, we don't want to have to hurt you kid!" said the other.
As he looked into their minds he saw with horror their intents.
(Kidnappers. I thought as much. Should I save them?) he thought but when he saw the girl get off her gag and start screaming her head off it left him with little choice. At this rate the entire city would be awake and searching this area.
He floated down behind them, then. The Absol saw him and quickly hushed. (Release those two.) he told the kidnappers.
They turned around surprised. There was evident confusion and disbelief in their eyes as they saw him.
"What in the hell are you?" asked one rudely.
(I am known to this city as the Moonwalker pokémon. My real name I shall not give to lowly humans such as you. Release those two and no harm shall befall you.) he said calmly.
"So you're a pokémon, eh? Well then there's no reason I can't capture you!"
He threw a poke'ball at him but to his surprise the creature did nothing. He let the ball capture him. Then not one shake the ball exploded and the Moonwalker pokémon stood there with a frown on his mouth.
(I tire of humans trying to capture me. That will never work. Waste of poke'balls even to try.) he said.
"Well then what about a net!" said the other.
As he threw the net the creature swung around using the momentum of his tail to knock the net back at them. He quickly teleported the girl to his side. The net captured them in its web. Their eyes were wide with fear and as they crawled away it shocked them again and again. As they disappeared around the corner he wiped their minds clean of seeing him. The two men found themselves wondering how they had gotten in a net and where their catch had got off to. They soon decided that the Absol had broken free of the net and taken the girl from them. They must have gotten themselves caught in their own net as they tried to recapture them. The men agreed to this and quickly crawled away to a shadowed part of the abandoned town.
Back in the alley the little girl looked up at him in wonder. She tugged at his hand. He quickly came to his senses and looked down at the girl.
(Yes?) "Thank you."
(You're welcome) he replied somewhat surprised. His usually cold eyes softened as he looked down at her. Quickly he regained his composure. It was time for him to leave these two. He had done what he came here for.
As he started to float away he heard something that made him stop in midair. (Let me out of this net you...thing! Come back here!)
(What? Who said that?)
(The Absol is the net you do-do! Let me out!) yelled the Absol.
He floated back down to let her out. As he did that the girl cried out and hugged the Absol and lifted herself onto her back. The Absol looked fondly at the little girl and then noticed that their savior was floating away, back to the top of the building. She growled angrily.
(Come back here!) she shouted.
(Why? You are free now. Go back to your home now. Before others come.) he seemed uninterested in them now.
(Why? For one it's the middle of the night and there are loonies out! You aren't going to leave us out here are you?!)
He sighed, (Very well. You may stay the night. That is all. In the morning you leave, understand?)
(Yeah, yeah. How do we get up there?)
(I'll bring you up here.) with a wave of his hand the two floated up to the roof.
(Follow me.) he led them into the building. As she saw the furniture the Absol snorted and said:
(Are you some human-want-to-be?)
(That is insulting. I would never wish to be a human. She can sleep on that couch. I have some questions to ask you before you go to bed.)
(Whatever. Kirya go sleep on that couch over there. I'll be back in a second.)
The girl, Kirya, settled herself on the couch and quickly went to sleep. The Absol looked at the Moonwalker pokémon with a look of question.
(What is it?) she asked.
(First, why were you two kidnapped? It is a fairly common sight in this area to see this but that girl is the youngest I have seen. What would they want of her?)
(She is the daughter of two very famous and rich people. They would have used her for ransom. But you should already know that. You're psychic, right?)
(Correct in both cases. Second question, how do you have the gift of telepathy? You are a Dark pokémon. That should not be possible.)
(I was born with it. Are you done?)
(Yes. Go to sleep now. You must be off in the morning.) he turned to leave. (By the way...my name is Shaddra. Yours isn't seriously Moonwalker is it?)
(No it is not. My name is...just call me Moonwalker. My name isn't something I give out freely. Go to sleep Shaddra.)
('kay. Good night MW.)
So curling up by Kirya she went to sleep. He was a bit stunned at what she had called him. It did not matter. He knew his true name. To himself he said:
(My name is Mewtwo.)
With that he took a blanket and placed it over them. A small smile played on Kirya's face. Seeing this Mewtwo smiled an equally small smile and turned out the light.
