Dragon Ball - One Last Time
This story is set after the End of Z and borrows elements from Dragon Ball Online, telling the story of Goku and Vegeta's departure from Earth. This isn't meant to be a direct adaptation.
"Okay, I want you to fight me with all you have!"
"A-are you gonna go all out!?"
"Depends"
Pan stood in a guarded position in the middle of the dojo floor. A dozen of her students, all children, surrounded her, each taking a stance and awaiting Pan's order for them to fight. Pan made a gesture for them to begin. The students simultaneously rushed in to fight her. Pan closed her eyes and focused on her senses. She blocked the cascade of attacks in front of her, she swept the pupils to the floor with a single kick, and using her palm, she caught oncoming punches and sent the students flying across the room. Within 20 seconds, she had already taken down most of the students, leaving behind the ones who showed the most promise.
One of Pan's students stood in place, with his finger pinned to his forehead. "Kobo, forget about Ki attacks, it'll take too long to charge and you'll be left open for attack" Pan instructed. Then, two other students rushed behind Pan and both of them clung to Pan's legs.
"Hurry Kobo" one of them cried out.
"You're supposed to fight me," Pan said. She lifted herself into the air and forced the students off of her. "SATAN NO YUBI!" a small white beam of energy shot towards the quarter-Saiyan, she effortlessly dodged it, however, the beam managed to catch the side of her gi, catching it on fire.
Pan descended to the floor to pat out the flame, her students took it as a chance to pounce on her, but they were all forced back by Pan's Ki.
"Your tricks aren't getting past me" Pan quipped
Then, a fist came towards her and she narrowly blocked it. I was Goku.
"Huh? Grandpa? Why are you here?"
"Just observing. Hehe, your students have a long way to go, but they sure do keep ya' on your toes" Goku remarked
"How about a quick spar?" Goku proposed. "Eh, why not?" Pan replied. The students hastily stepped back until they had their backs against the wall. "Master Son, are you sure about this?" Kobo nervously asked. "Watch closely if you want to learn something" Pan replied. Pan and Goku took their stance, and then they jetted toward each other, exchanging a volley of attacks. The mere gusts of wind their battle produced were enough to knock some of the spectating students off their feet. Goku manages to lock her in place, however, her students interfere. Kobo fires another beam. The beam hits Goku in the face. The shock was enough for him to loosen his grip just enough for Pan to escape, but of course, it did no damage.
"Hey, no fair," Goku said. "In the Neo Satan Dojo, anything goes!" Pan teases back.
"Fine, if you wanna play like that, then I want to fight all of you," Goku said. However, most of the students, aside from the top three, ran out of the room in a panic.
"GO FOR THE LEGS!" Kobo cries out as the trio latch onto the Saiyan's forelimbs.
Goku tosses the students off of his legs and back, flinging them towards Pan. Pan successfully caught them and countered with a slashing Ki blast from her legs.

"Never say what you're gonna do out loud, unless it's a Ki attack, then you're all good," Goku said.
After setting the students down, Pan charges toward Goku and launches a torrent of attacks. After getting one good hit in on her grandpa, Goku, with a smug look said "You got this" before teleporting away.
"Huh? Why did he?" Pan blurted. After regaining her composure, she looked at her pupils. "Your grandpa is strong," one of them said. "Yeah, but he's kinda weird too," Kobo said. "Heh, you're both right. Ever since I could walk his actions have mystified me." Pan replied. "Now, go prepare lunch for the others, I have to tidy up the place"
Her students went off and Pan took a moment to think. "Sensei, your phone." One of her pupils stepped in to say. Pan took the phone and answered it.
"Wait, what!?" Pan yelled. She hung up the phone and dashed out of the dojo, much to her students' confusion.
Elsewhere...
"Guys, come outta there. This isn't funny"
The bushes trimble. "Okay guys, now"
Uub was swarmed with small blobs each their different color.
"Hey, g-guys" Uub muttered as he desperately tried to shake them off
"Enough Buu juniors, Uncle Uub no want to play"
The mini Buu's got off of the poor babysitter and blew to their father. Majin Buu arrived with a bag full of candy. "Okay, uuh… hmmm… Buu needs to give you guys better names, but anyways, here's your lunch!" Buu threw the bag of sweets to the ground and his kids jostled each other around as they swarmed the bag to fill up their mouths with the confectionery.
"Buu, you should choose to feed your kids something more healthy, " Uub suggested.
"Why? Buu made sure the candy was fruit flavored." Buu gainsaid.
Then, Goku lands near them. "Hey Uub! How's it been?". Uub looked over and smiled "Ah, Goku, well, it's been going."
Goku walked over to see Buu's kids. "Wow Buu, have you made more of these? I wonder how strong they are…" Goku pondered. "Wife no want them to fight, she says they must study," Buu said in a disappointed tone. "Aw, man. But I'm sure they'd still be able to put up a good fight even if they don't train at all." Goku replied.
"You bet. They've been giving me hell ever since Buu moved here" Uub jokes. "Huh? Moved here?" Goku inquired.
"Wife says it's nicer to live away from the city," Buu said. "And Mr. Satan needs as little stress as possible"
"Oh yeah, Mr. Satan's getting pretty up there, but so am I" Goku laughed. Goku went to pet one of Buu's kids, but they retaliated with a bite. "Ow! What the hell?"
"Buu's kids hate sharing," Buu said. "Just like dad, eh?" ignoring the subtle roast, Goku explains why he's here. "Uub, there's something I need to tell you in private"
Elsewhere...
Chichi is chauffeured to Capsule Corp by the Ox King. After stepping out, she greets Gohan and Videl, who are with Mr. Satan. "You're here. Did you get the news? He did tell you, right?" Gohan asked.
"Yes. We talked and I understood." Chichi said.
The four went into the building to meet up with Goten and they waited in the lobby for Bulma to give them the go-ahead. A staff member arrived to greet them and escort them to Bulma's location.
"I can't believe it. Why Grandpa!?" Pan yelled, grabbing onto Goku's arms.
"It's a Saiyan thing Pan. Why are you so angry anyway? We'll meet each other in the afterlife" Goku responded.
Vegeta was there, stoic and reserved, only greeting the others with a nod.
Bulma had a look of melancholy. Trunks and Bra were stoic.
"So, Vegeta, you ready?" Goku asked. "Yes, Kakarot, anyways, where are the others?"
"They just got here" Bulma announced.
Krillin and his family, Yamcha, Uub, Buu, and Piccolo arrived.
"Goku, you can't be serious, don't you wanna spend your time left with your family?" Krillin nerviously asked.
"It's deeper than that," Vegeta said.
"Vegeta's right Krillin," Goku said with a serious expression. "If I'm gonna go out, I want to be at my peak. After a Saiyan reaches 80, those five short years I have left would take away all my power."
"…" Krillin looked to the floor. Piccolo "Enough. Goku's made his decision. If this is how he wants it then fine."
"You Saiyans are something else," Yamcha said, putting his hands in his pocket.
"Chichi, are you seriously okay with this?" Krillin asked.
"Yes," Chichi replied.
"Well guys, I guess it's time me and Vegeta leave. But before I do that, there's something I need to say." Everyone stared at Goku. "Ehhem... um, wait" Goku reached into his sash to pull out a piece of paper. "Good thing I wrote this down."
"I've loved every minute I got to spend with you, whether we were fightin', livin' our day-to-day, winning or losing. You guys always inspired me, and I couldn't ever say I'd be here without you."
Goku motioned towards Vegeta.
"To my wife, your forgiveness and understanding left an everlasting mark on my life. To my children, you two are the few Saiyans left, be proud, and never let anything make you feel any different. To the rest of you, you all have something that you should be proud of, let that give you strength for whatever else there is to come."
"Heheh, you outdid me Vegeta" Goku jested.
"Goku, damn you for making my granddaughter cry, but you're the greatest man I've ever met" the teary-eyed Mr. Satan replied.
"Goku, if this is what'll make you happy, then so be it. You're the reason I have all of this" Krillin said as he fought back tears.
"Take care dad," Gohan said. "You're awesome," Goten said. "Your lessons won't go forgotten," Uub said. "You're gonna leave us forever?' Pan asked.
"Yeah, I know Earth is in good hands. As long as you all keep getting stronger and protect the Dragon Balls." Goku said.
Goku and Vegeta turned to the ship and got on. The platform slowly rises up and into the ship. "Give em' hell Vegeta" Bulma said, right before the door closed.
The group got back. The ceiling opened to reveal the blinding blue sky. After a short countdown, the ship takes off, exiting the atmosphere within a few seconds. Everyone looked up into the sky as the ship disappeared from view.
On the spaceship...
"So, are you ready Vegeta?"
"Let's wait for a while. I want us to get as far from the Earth as possible."
After a day had gone by, both Goku and Veget exited their respective rooms and went to the dining room. Bulma left them a year's worth of food for them and the Saiyans helped themselves plenty to it. However, nagging Vegeta's mind was images of Buu, Cell, and Frieza.
"Kakarot, do you believe the Earth is safe?" Vegeta, eyes glued to his plate, asked.
"Maybe. We know what Gohan can do, oh, then our sons can become Gotenks and Pan, she's really..." Goku rambled on, but Vegeta's mind was elsewhere.
"You're just an enigma to me as you are to them, clown. Perhaps I've gotten soft or maybe I haven't sustained enough blows to the head to get to your level" Vegeta remarked.
"… and I think Tien's students have a lot of room to grow. Uh, Vegeta, are you listening? Vegeta."
Vegeta stood from his chair and slammed his hand on the table. "How about we cut the talk and fight? I've been meaning to prove to you that training with that reincarnation hasn't made you any better than me"
The two got up from the table and entered the sparring chamber. It was a large bowl-shaped room. The air was clean and sterile, with a faint metallic scent, its look was smooth and minimalistic, and the smooth floor was a light wooden color, burnished to the point where the Saiyans could see their reflection. The walls a muted white with thin black lines separating them into rectangles.
Goku launched a Ki blast at the wall with the result of no visible damage. "Wow, Bulma wasn't joking around when designing this" Goku remarked.
"You dare insult my wife's engineering prowess?" Vegeta teased.
"Maybe I am" Goku snarkily replied.
Vegeta blitzed Goku, but the Saiyan grabbed Vegeta's fist right as he was about to strike. Goku used his Ki to force Veegta backward. Vegeta, now with his back against the wall, blasts back into battle. The two traded a fierce amount of blows, shaking the ship with each hit.
Goku swept Vegeta's feet and delivered an uppercut to the Prince's jaw. Vegeta zipped back "Solar Flare!". Goku blocked his eyes, Vegeta used the moment of weakness to get behind Goku and launch a kick, sending Goku crashing into the wall, however, it left no dent in the wall.
Goku got up and transformed into a Super Saiyan, he blitzed towards Vegeta and kicked him into the roof. Vegeta used flight to stay up there and transformed into a Super Saiyan 2. Vegeta zipped to Goku and rammed him with a strike, sending him flying into a wall again. Vegeta dashed towards Goku, who retaliated by going SS2 himself, smacking Vegeta aside.
Vegeta got hit footing and to two fired a barrage of Ki Blasts at each other, engulfing the room in golden explosions. The two ceased the barrage to charge their signature attacks. "Kame.. hame.." "Final Flash" The two let off their beams, creating a giant explosion as the two struggle for dominance.
They both cancel out their attacks and charge at each other. Goku tries to land a kick, but Vegeta zips behind him to chop his neck, Goku blocks the attack and knees Vegeta in the gut, who then punches Goku in the face. The two leap away from each other.
"Hey, let's stop here" Goku prompted. "Fine" Vegeta indulged.
The two took a moment to stretch and meditate. The room around them was perfectly intact and looked as good as new.
"Hey Vegeta, check this out." Goku voices, he begins to raise his aura, shaking the ship.
"You're transforming into Super Saiyan 3? That useless form?" Vegeta mocked, but even he braced as the ship rattled.
"Not quite," Goku said in a noticeably lighter voice. Goku looked like he was in his SS3 form, however, his hair was shorter like an enlarged version of his SS2 form, his body became thinner and he grew slightly taller. "This Super Saiyan Three is more focused on speed and has less drain"
Vegeta raised an eyebrow, quickly getting into a fighting stance. Goku, not being one for many words, decides to demonstrate the form's abilities by speed-blitzing Vegeta. He kicks Vegeta across the room and just as the prince is about to hit the wall, he gets in the way to deliver another hit.
Vegeta gains his footing and puts up a Ki shield.
"Uub was a lot to deal with, so it kinda came naturally" Goku joked.
Vegeta let down his shield and charged his aura, buffing himself up.
"Come at me, moron" Vegeta taunted, taking a powerful stance.
Goku charged towards Vegeta but was sent crashing into the wall with just a force blast from Vegeta. Goku blocked the blast with his arms. He let down his guard and saw cut marks.
"Your son Gohan is quite the genius. His research on Ki allowed me to access power far beyond that of your average Saiyan" Vegeta expounded.
Goku zips towards Vegeta, however, without moving a muscle, Vegeta blocks all of Goku's attacks with the sheer control he has over his aura. Goku concedes and zips away from Vegeta. "Realize you're gonna die?" Vegeta mocks, adding "Perhaps you should have stayed behind."
Goku focuses his aura, then he forces everything out. He begins to bulk up to the point where he looks like he's about to explode. His hair reaches the floor and expands like a cape. Sparks bounce off his body and his pupils are drowned out in white. Goku lets out a bloody roar, blowing away Vegeta's Ki barrier.
"I guess this is the opposite of that other form of Super Saiyan Three? Should I call it Super Saiyan Ape?" Vegeta quips
Goku aims his hand at the wall opposite to where Vegeta is and fires a blast, propelling himself toward the prince. He slams into Vegeta, and the sheer weight of his body pins Vegeta against the wall. Vegeta's ribs audibly crack. Goku steps back, and right as Vegeta is about to fall to the floor, Goku grabs his arm, just that gesture is enough to break it.
Goku flailed Vegeta around the room, slamming him into the floor and sending him careening into a wall. Vegeta spat out blood, unable to get off the floor.
"N-n-" Vegeta mumbled
"Huh?"
"Nuke, you motherfucker"
From Vegeta's hand, a bright green blast enveloped the entire room. When the blast subsided, Goku was covered in cuts and bruises, his clothes tattered.
Vegeta picked himself off the floor, the arm he launched the Nuke from was charred black and brittle.
A large gash ran across Goku's chest that oozed blood, his organs were nearly visible, and his left leg was chopped off and was bleeding profusely. The two collapsed to the blood-soaked floor in tandem.
"Let's... call off the match for today," Goku muttered.
Vegeta got back up and went into another room, he came back with some senzu and tossed one towards Goku. The two recover completely and head out the sparring room as it enters an automatic maintenance mode.
"Ain't it funny Kakarot? All of this power, yet it all goes away so quickly." Vegeta said.
"Yeah, heheh, I remember bulking up like that while fighting Uub, we totaled the Supreme Kai's planet, I nearly killed him." Goku joked.
"I hope that Majin boy doesn't end up a slacker like my spawn." Vegeta jeered.
"How long did it take you to master that weird thing you did with your Ki?" Goku asked, "Imagine if Gohan published it, so many people could get strong." Goku voiced in awe.
"He's thinking about it, it's one hell of a choice," Vegeta said.
"Right. Anyways, I'm starving" Goku said.
They break for lunch and wait until the next day to continue their battle.
The next day, they return to the sparring room, fully cleaned from yesterday's battle
"Okay Kakarot, fight me with everything you have. No holding back!" Vegeta demanded.
"You'll regret telling me that" Goku teased.
The ship shook as Goku charged an energy beam that could wipe out the Earth several times over. Goku let off the beam at Vegeta. The prince countered with a shield, but it was being chipped away at by the blast and began to crack. "Now that's..." Vegeta charges his respective blast "More like it!"
The two are now in a beam struggle. They were deadlocked, the room was enveloped in a white aura.
"Remember this one Vegeta?" "Kaioken!"
Goku gains the edge in the beam struggle, forcing Vegeta's back against the wall. Vegeta goes Super Saiyan, gaining back an edge in the struggle.
"Kaio-Ken, times 20!"
Vegeta was slammed to the wall by the force, mere inches away from losing the struggle. Despite the boost in power, Vegeta pushes Goku back to the wall once he goes Super Saiyan 2. They cancel out their attacks.
"How were you able to match me?" Goku asked.
"Mastery over Super Saiyan and Ki, it's how I stood up against you as a Super Saiyan 3" Vegeta answered.
"Already spent Kakarot? I know that Kaioken form takes a lot out of you."
"Nah, I've gotten past its weakness."
Goku launches a barrage of finger beams at Vegeta, one nearly taking out the prince's heart.
"We're fighting to kill, remember that," Goku said. Goku began bulking up into the Rage Super Saiyan Three form. Goku launched himself at Vegeta, however, Vegeta used his Ki control to strengthen every spot Goku hit. Goku tried an uppercut Vegeta's neck, and nearly snapped the thing, leaving the prince stun-locked. Goku punched Vegeta again, but this time, Vegeta wasn't able to block it. He crashed into the wall and spat blood.
Vegeta zipped towards Goku and tried to kick his chest but to no result. Goku grabbed his leg and began slamming him into the ground several times before throwing him towards the wall and firing a consecutive Ki blast.
Vegeta's armor was in tatters. He got back up and threw kienzans at the Saiyan. Goku was able to tank the attack and transformed into his speed-efficient Super Saiyan 3 form. Goku kicks Vegeta's arm, but the prince tanks the blow. The two fire a volley of attacks at each other. Goku created a Ki blade and stabbed Vegeta in the chest.
"Nuke!" Vegeta forced Goku back, this time the sheer destructive energy was channeled into a beam. Goku manages to narrowly avoid the blast. Vegeta began to build up tiny shards of Ki and began swirling them into a ball, then he threw it at Goku, igniting the Saiyan into a flurry of slashes.
Goku extended his Ki blade and dashed towards Vegeta, who created a Ki blade of his own. The two traded blows with their swords. Goku slashes Vegeta from his shoulder and to his thigh. Vegeta manages to stab through Goku's leg.
ZIP ZIP ZIP* Goku uses his instant transmission to teleport around Vegeta. "You're not slick Kakarot." Vegeta said as he charged his Ki out to force back Goku.
"How about you prove that you're as good with your hands as you are with Ki" Goku prompted. "As you wish" Vegeta replies.
The two, beaten, stabbed, and heavily wounded take their iconic fight stances, blood dripping on the floor. Vegeta launches himself at Goku, who zips around the room with epic speed. Vegeta blocks fakeout attacks created by Goku's afterimage technique. Goku uses his distraction to try and strike Vegeta from behind.
"What?" Goku said, kicking through the afterimage of Vegeta. "I see, you were doing the same thing I was doing," Goku said. "Only faster." Vegeta adds, sweat pouring from his face. "It sure took a lot out of you." Goku remarked.
"HRAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Vegeta screamed, transforming into a Super Saiyan 3
"So you can do it" Goku said.
"Rot in hell" Vegeta said, he began charging a Ki Beam, giant sparks of golden electricity bouncing off his body and the charging attack. "NEW BIG BANG ATTACK"
In an instant, Goku transformed into Rage Super Saiyan Three. A flash brighter than a solar flair enveloped the room, Vegeta unleashed the beam and Goku, blinded, tried to dodge it, but it took off one of his arms and a bit of his chest.
The blast was strong enough to melt some of the wall. Goku was rendered completely blind.
Vegeta tossed Goku a senzu and gave himself one. "This is what happens when I fight to kill."
The alarm goes off and the ship enters an emergency land mode.
"Looks like the blasts….was strong enough to… hurt the ship…" Goku mutters.
"I guess so. Do you need another senzu clown? You sound more delayed than usual" the prince asked.
"No… I'm fine." Goku said.
A few hours later. They land on a nearby planet. It was a desolate wasteland, however, not to far in the background, an abandoned Freeza base can be seen.
Vegeta gets off the ship and waits for Goku to get off.
"Hurry up! That ship might blow!" Vegeta said.
"Where the hell am I?"
"Pfft. Stop playing games and FIGHT!" Vegeta said. He fired a Ki blast that took off most of the ship. Kakarot was enraged at what this stranger did to him, he transformed into a Super Saiyan and charged at him on foot.
Vegeta transforms into a Super Saiyan and they continue the fight. Kakarot throws sloppy punches that Vegeta easily neutralizes. Vegeta puts Kakarot in a chokehold and lifts him into the air, then drives Kakarot into the ground.
"What are you holding back for?" Vegeta shouted.
"What do you mean?" Kakarot asks.
Vegeta landed and bombarded Kakarot with speed, managing to play ping-pong with the Saiyan's limb body. Kakarot gets his footing and spits in Vegeta's face, but the prince avoids it and shoots a finger beam that scrapes Kakarot's ear.
"You'll pay for that!" Kakarot said. He pointed his finger at Vegeta and fired his own Ki blast.
Vegeta easily dodged the attacks, he took them to the air and Kakarot followed, gaining the ability to fly. The two trade blows in the air. Vegeta goes SS2 and Kakarot goes SS2."What happened to you?" Vegeta screamed.
"KNOCK IT OFF!" Kakarot screamed the faint noise of an Ozaru in his voice. Kakarot dashed towards Vegeta, but the prince's aura was enough the shield him from the attack. Vegeta slammed Kakarot into the ground and began whaling on him. "What. The. Hell. Did. I. Do. To. You. Goku!"
"D-did you say Goku?" Goku muttered.
Goku powered up, forcing Vegeta off of him and destroying the area around him.
"It all makes sense now… heheh" Goku said.
Goku went Rage Super Saiyan 3. The sparse clouds on the planet faded away as the planet began to quake. The ground began to rapture.
"It's time…" Vegeta said
"You're right…" Goku replied.
Vegeta goes Super Saiyan 2 and screams "NEW BIG BANG ATTACK!"
A giant visage of an Ozaru appears behind Goku. "AAAAAAAAGH" Goku screams as he's enveloped by the blast. Goku charges through the pain and says"This... is... Super Saiyan 4!"
Goku's skin burned off, but he continued his charge towards Vegeta. Blinded, his clothes reduced to rags and Vegeta out of sight, Goku closes his eyes and pushes forward. He manages to reach Vegeta and blows a hole through the prince's chest. The sheer force of the attack resulted in an explosion. The two are enveloped in the attack, neither witnessing the image of a Super Saiyan 4. A Supernova formed, dusting the planet they were on. It was visible from lightyears away. The souls of the two were both annihilated, removing them from existence.
Goku lands at the front door and knocks.
"Hello? Oh, it's you Goku!" Chichi said.
"Hey Chichi, how about some dinner?"
"I just got groceries, I'll start unpacking them now," Chichi said, turning her head to the dinner table.
"No, I'm cooking."
Chichi turned her head back to Goku with a look of shock. "You can cook!?"
"Yeah, Uub's mom taught me. She was good at making the most out of every ingredient."
Goku looked through the bags and the cabinet and pulled out some ingredients. After a few minutes, the food was done.
"Wow Goku, this is good," Chichi said.
"Not as good as your cooking though." Goku humbly responded
"Now that you mentioned it, this could use some more spice, and then the meat should be browner" Chichi continues to list off faults with the meal
"Yeah, I should get stronger when it comes to my cooking ability, heheh, we're all strong in our way." Goku said.
"Well, I'm strong in multiple ways. I've still been training ya know." Chichi said.
"What makes you want to fight all the time anyway?" Chichi asked
"To be honest, I just like getting stronger and testing that strength," Goku answered.
"Maybe I'm the same, I like getting better at being a proper wife and mother just to test myself."
"That's pretty cool." Goku said. "But, I've been thinking about what I'll be like when I reach 80.
"You'll finally match me in looks." Chichi quipped, however, she noticed Goku's demeanor shift. "Goku, even if you get old, my feelings won't change for you." Chichi replied.
"It's not that. It's just that it doesn't sit right with me losing all the power I gained throughout the years" Goku said.
"Yeah, I can't imagine not being able to perform my parental and wife duties. Who'd take care of Goten?" Chichi said.
"Isn't he near his 40s?" Goku said.
"Well, what about my grandkids?" Chichi rebutted
"Pan's all grown up now" Goku countered.
"Well, she could give me a great-grandkid."
"Eh, she seems too focused on that dojo."
"This is why all mothers should start early. Especially in this day and age"
"Chichi…"
"But I've been thinking, what if me and Vegeta went all out in one last battle."
"Sounds fun"
"Wait, you're not mad?"
"You like fighting. It's not like I can stop you."
Chichi got up and placed her empty bowl in the sink. "You like getting stronger, as your wife, I must make you happy."
"Glad you could understand, especially since I can be a jerk at times," Goku said, handing over his bowl to Chichi.
