CHAPTER 2: GARDEN
Kirya awoke to sunlight and the smell of ripe fruit. She looked around and saw on the table a bowl of it. She wondered if she could eat any. She looked at Mommy Shaddra who slept soundly beside her. Where was the guy? She had immediately decided she liked him, yesterday. He was a bit like her Papa {her father}... She turned back to the fruit. Surely that's what the fruit was there for. For eating. She climbed on one of the chairs and reached for a fruit. She accidently tipped the bowl over and the fruit went rolling every which way.
"Uh-oh." She said.
Quickly she tried to catch the falling fruit but in vain. Then just as the fruit was about to hit the floor it was incased in a blue light and floated upwards. The bowl tipped up and the fruit went back in the bowl save one which was given to Kirya. Her eyes wide with amazement she looked around to see how this had occurred. She spotted Mewtwo looking at her with little expression on his face.
"Am I in twubble, sir?"
(No you are not. Go ahead, eat that fruit. You will need your energy for today.) he said kindly to her.
As Kirya bit into the fruit it's juice ran down her chin. Mewtwo might have laughed if it wasn't for the fact that she decided to use the table-cloth as a napkin. He quickly went to get her a cloth. When he came back Shaddra was up eating a fruit herself. Kirya was starting on her second. He gave the cloth to her and looked at his remaining fruit. He would have to get more sooner then he thought. He grabbed one himself and ate it quickly. Looking down he saw that Kirya carried three fruit cores wondering what to do with them. He pointed to her up to the roof. They looked at him, a question obviously forming in their mouths.
(You might not have noticed in the light last night but there is a small garden on the roof. All of the organic waste that has to do with food is buried there making the soil rich in nutrients. I will show you.)
He led them to a growing garden, where multi-colored flowers bloomed and there was the start of trees. It was a project he had been working on so that he wouldn't have to go to the park for food. Now they saw that the roof was not covered by cement as most building roofs are, but earth. The plants were naturally spreading, and soon they would pass the shed/door into the building. Kirya quickly buried the cores and looked up at Mewtwo with a proud smile on her face. Shaddra smelled the flowers and sneezed.
(Rose, sunflower, violet, daisy, buttercup, tulip, and many more. You sure have a thing for flowers.)
(That is what they are called? I did not know. These are from the seeds I collected at Mt. Keyna. Most are flowers, yes. How can you tell?) he replied.
(Well I recognized them for one. And if I didn't their smell gives them away. I have allergies to some of these flowers.) said Shaddra.
"These are so pretty, Papa Moony."
(Well look at that. She likes you. Funny really that she would call you that seeing how she's barely know you for a day. Oh, well. She calls me Mommy Shaddra so I guess that's okay.)
Kirya danced around in the garden while Mewtwo was lost in thought. Why had Kirya called him that? He was not her father. When he made these two go should he erase their memories of him? It would be safer for him that way but...
(MW. Earth to MW! Moonwalker!) (What is it?) he said somewhat irritated.
(Can you take us to the police station? We could easily get a ride home from there.)
Mewtwo looked at her bewildered. Go that near humans? No, that would not work.
(No. You will have to get there on your own. I do not go near humans if I can avoid them... It is time for you to leave this place.)
(But... Moonwalker...how are we supposed to get home? You know better than anyone that this city isn't safe...even during the day. And...I'm not strong enough to protect her if something was to happen... I guess I found that out yesterday. I was entitled to protect her as her pokémon...and I couldn't. If you won't bring us to humans that can help us...how will we get home? Will you help us get there? Or will you leave us unprotected. You know how humans are.) she begged him.
(This is not my responsibility.)
(As our rescuer it is your responsibility!) Shaddra shouted at him.
Mewtwo thought about it. She did have a point. He looked at Kirya still hopping around, totally unaware of their conversation. Did he really want to leave them so soon?
(...Very well. I will help you get home.) he announced, (Let me get a few things before we leave. Where is your home?)
(A small village called Klayblue. It's famous for its indigo clay. You know it?)
(Yes. It is on the other side of the forest. We will go through there.)
(Come on Kirya. Moonwalker is going to lead us home!)
