CHAPTER 7: LEAVING

The next day Mewtwo seemed troubled by something. A feeling of unease washed over him again and again like a wave upon a beach. Something was happening. Despite this he tried to act as if everything was normal.

(Have you come to your decision?) he asked.

(Yes...I shall stay. If this guy really does want to be my mate he will wait. Besides, I'm Kirya's pokémon.)

(Then let us go on.) he replied.

The day went on like a usual one in the forest. Kirya shrieked with glee every time she saw a pokémon. Soon she fell back asleep. This was beginning to worry the two pokémon. It seemed though as the day went on Mewtwo was growing more and more uneased. Finally, they stopped and Mewtwo went into a meditation. He was listening to occurrences many miles away and they more than worried him. As he lay Kirya down Shaddra looked at him wonderingly.

(What's happening?) she asked him.

(Trouble. Tell Kirya I'll be back soon when she gets up.) he replied.

(No problem. Dark pokemon's word.) she told as Mewtwo blinked thinking how much he had yet to understand about Shaddra.

Mewtwo laughed though at this thought (You are an amazing Absol, Shaddra. Farewell for now.)

(Farewell.) she said.

As Mewtwo flew off she looked at her trainer. Come back soon she thought, since Kirya seemed to be getting worse. Looking through the bag, Shaddra found a bottle of something. As she read the bottle she began to understand it was to help get to sleep. Why would he have that? Not what I need though, she thought. There were a few more bottles of this and that, but not what could help. She needed an Awakening. No such parcel could be found. I guess Moonwalker is more concerned about getting to sleep at night, she thought sullenly.

She heard Kirya stir then. As she turned around the little girl was rubbing her eyes to get the 'sand' out of them. Kirya blinked and looked around. She looked at Shaddra and asked:

"Where's Papa Moony?" she asked.

(He went somewhere for a while. He said he'll be back soon. Looks like it's just you and me for the day. Do you want to play Doctor?)

"Yeah! Doctor, Doctor! Who first?" (I'll be Doctor first. Say aww...)

"Awwwwwwwww". As Shaddra looked into her mouth she could see nothing unusual. But her breath carried the smell of sick-ness.

(Now your reflexes.)

Kirya laughed as Shaddra tested her reflexes. Playing this game Shaddra learned that Kirya was sick but really, nothing else was wrong with her besides the constant sleeping. So she decided to keep Kirya active all day. They played Doctor, Tag, Hide- and-Seek and a number of other games.

"Mommy Shaddra I'm sleepy...[yawns]."

(Go to sleep then. It's almost night-time anyway.) "Will you sing me the lullaby, Mommy Shaddra?"

(Sure. If you would have asked that while Moonwalker was here I would have knocked you out.)

Kirya gurgled at this and Shaddra began to sing:

Farewell to the sun, Hello to the moon, Sleep under starlight, Above Earth below,

This tune for thigh child, Sweet dreams come to thee, Of flight in the sky,

Of love from he.

That last word had no meaning to Kirya yet since she had not hit that stage in her life in that she would wish a male companion. But it was also ever-changing. If she had been singing this to a boy it would have been she. On the end of the fifth line it would also be ever-changing. If it was an adult which this was sung to it would not be child but spirit. But it was a pretty song in which Shaddra treasured as her own. It was a song from which she could not remember learning, but which she assumed her mother had sung to her as a baby. It was comforting. A thought stuck her then. She should teach Moonwalker this song. Would it not comfort him in times of peril or loneliness? Surely it would. She looked at Kirya and remembered the meaning of that name. It meant healer and light in pokémon. The parents unbeknownst chose that name for her. They were right though. Moonwalker was a fine example of this.
