CHAPTER 24: SACRIFICE
Mr. Alexander watched the creature cry out in pain and struggle to break free.
This would have been most amusing had these creatures not been so expensive. Such a waste of money. Morgan then opened her eyes and looked at him without struggle. She had the look of one determined but sad, and much older then she truly was. For the first time since they had been trapped in the cage Morgan called out to him.
(Human…you will NOT do this to them. I will not allow it. Prepare for your death human…because it will come soon enough.) Then to only Mewtwo she ordered, (Take Neva. As soon as I break the cage I want you to fly away from here as fast as you can. Is that clear?)
(Yes, but…what are you going to do?)
(…Give you two a chance to escape. There is no future for me in a good future.)
Mewtwo did not understand this. What was she going to do? What could she possibly do? And what did she mean 'there is no future for me in a good future? This did not make sense.
(I don't understand.)
(You don't have to. Just know that this way the way it was meant to be. Besides…I don't think you would prefer a life in servitude.)
Mewtwo still had questions, but the pain that was building and he could not reply. With the little strength he had left he picked Neva's now unconscious form in his arms. How long she had been in this state Mewtwo did not know…but he was sure it had happened before the conversation. He then felt Morgan charge up. He became aware then just how low her level was. Nearly five time smaller than his own! But what could that possible have to do with anything? Nothing. He didn't know how wrong he was just then. He might have been able to stop Morgan if he had known her intent. As Morgan said though…this was the way it was meant to be.
Morgan then released a small amount of the energy she had gathered in herself, easily breaking the cage. Free of the jolts Mewtwo felt renewed. He stood there a bit, totally forgetting what Morgan had said. She all to quickly reminded him.
(Go, NOW!) She yelled.
Mewtwo flew away with Neva at a speed that would break the neck of a human.
He vaguely heard the lead human yell for the others to try and catch them. No success in this seemed to take place. After a long enough distance, in Mewtwo's mind, he looked back and watched the scene with his eagle-like eyesight. What he saw surprised him.
The humans had caught Morgan in an array of nets in which she managed to throw off her with ease. She was powering up. Mewtwo realized with horror what Morgan intended to do. Why she had told him to take Neva and flee as fast as he could.
She was going to blow the entire area up! And take everyone in the area with it.
Including herself… And the humans had no idea. All to let them get away. But…he had blow things up and survived. Why did she think she could not? Then it became clear.
To make an explosion of this intensity would take a lot of energy…too much for Morgan. And it was all because of her low level.
Then it happened. Morgan unleashed her energy. The explosion was immense.
So much that even at this distance Mewtwo had to fly father from it so as not to risk getting caught in it. In the middle of the explosion, though Mewtwo could not see into the blinding light, Morgan was being burned away like everything else near her. And in the middle of this she smiled. Now it would come to pass. The bright future she had seen. With the last of her remaining time she called across the distance that separated her from Mewtwo.
(Take care of my sister, Mewtwo. Without me, she needs you… Farewell…to both of you…) then with that, she was gone.
In the distance Mewtwo swore that he would fulfill Morgan's last request. Even if it led him to his death. Looking down at Neva he gasped. Her wounds had opened…and a putrid smell came from them. Something was happening to her. And nothing in his city home would help. Quickly changing direction, he flew off to a place in which he knew could help heal Neva. He set off for Mt. Quena.
