CHAPTER 32: GETTING USED TO ONE ANOTHER

The next morning Neva awoke slowly, her eyes focusing in and out for the first few seconds. Recalling all of what happened yesterday, she sighed, getting up sluggishly. So...this was where she was to be living for…who knew how long. Opening the door to the outside hall, she cast out her senses, finding that Mewtwo was nowhere in the building. Strange…had he gone out? For what reason? She shook her head, knowing she wasn't about to get an answer anytime soon. Oh well…

What she needed now was to find the bathroom. Mostly, she only felt the desire to take a hot shower, to hopefully wake up. Entering the small room found the paint job to be flaking away, the usually white tiles having traces of dirt on them. Ewww….Mewtwo didn't seem to be the messy type of person, but…this wasn't all that great. Whatever…she could clean later. She be damned if she was going to live in a muddy hole!

Turning on the water with a flick of her wrist, she crawled into the stall, shivering at the icy water at first, before it became a comfortable temperature. She tilted her head back and let out a deep breath, enjoying the hot water, feeling it flow over her smooth flesh. Oh, god this felt good….

After a good ten minutes, she shut off the shower, drying herself with a brief power flare. She grimaced as she felt her muscles still had an aching sensation in them, from her previously healed injuries. Clumsily she groped for the edge of the mirror cabinet, opening it quickly to see its contents. Darn it…no painkillers.

What she did see however shocked her. Anti-depressant and sleeping pills, to fight insomnia. Mewtwo was the only one who lived here really, so…they had to be his. But he didn't seem like one who needed medical help! Why did he need these then…?

Closing the cabinet, deep in thought at that, she suddenly saw a note taped to it. At first, she didn't see any significance to it, but then saw it was addressed to HER! From Mewtwo….he must have realized she would eventually some to the bathroom and thought that the place to leave it. It made sense…sorta.

Neva,

Feel free to use anything that you may need. I will be back shortly with some supplies (food mainly). You can simply do what you wish for the time being. Please though, do not stray away from the building. This isn't the safest part of town.

Mewtwo

Huh…his name… She had thought it had just simply sounded liked Mewtwo, not spelled that way. Mew two. Odd…maybe she'd ask about it later. But as her host had said, she was free to use anything and do anything she wanted. Independence was a sweet thing!

Only minutes later, she found herself immersed in the various books she had found in the main room, reading them hungrily. She'd always liked books. They were a good, fun way to pass the time, and it left Neva with a sense of peace after finishing one. She used to read the few books given to Morgan and her, after every battle, to help take her mind off what she'd had to do in them. Thinking on this, she frowned, her book suddenly becoming uninteresting. She'd had to kill pokémon, against her will yes, but she'd become a murderer. The thought sent almost nauseating bolts of horrid emotion after horrid emotions through her. What would Mewtwo say, if she told about how she'd killed innocent pokémon? She hated the thought, of him thinking unwell of her in any way. Why however, she didn't know.

(Neva? You're awake then?)

Her head whipped behind her to face Mewtwo, seeing him carrying a semi-full sack bag, and from the scent, she guessed there to be fruit in it. Her stomach quickly growled with hunger. When had she last eaten? A few days at the least!

Mewtwo evidently heard her stomach pinning, because he reached into his bag, tossing her a single, green apple. She eagerly bit into it, her mouth being shocked by the sour, crisp taste. She ate it in a matter of moments, seeing Mewtwo cross over to the table where a large bowl, presumably for fruit, sat empty. He quickly filled it, noticing Neva's eyes on him. He raised an eyebrow at her, amused. So…she was certainly hungry then. That was good…

(Where exactly did you get all this food?) She suddenly asked conversationally.

Mewtwo answered her honestly, (The park had a few ripe fruit left here and there, from over the summer. It made sense, for someone to eat them.)

(I see… Was it a sharp branch that gave you that cut?)

He only just noticed that he was bleeding. Oh dear…how was he to respond to that? He'd gotten this in a fight with one of the many thugs around here. And really, he didn't want Neva to distrust him. The idea of the only other member of his species to be against him in any way was not a pleasant thought. He lied, shielding his aura from her so she couldn't see that he was doing so. According to him, she had gotten it just as she said. A tree branch… It was safer to tell her that, than the truth. How would she react if she knew that he constantly fought with others, even though they were bad?

He'd tell her the truth though, eventually. He so hated to lie… And he shouldn't really, be doing so to her. They were the only ones of their kind…and this was not the way to start out a friendship…
