Something I've noticed since coming to an anime/game based world. A lot of tropes were just normal common place occurrences. Teeth morphing to be sharp? Sure, why not? Outlandish hair colors? We have those in our world, here it's just natural. The fact that I've carried over 100 pounds of PokeGirl for several hours? …okay that one still strikes me as odd and I really need to look into how strong my new anime body could get.

However the one that I was suddenly getting a lot of experience with was aura. Rotom flew past my head as Slaking kept exuding an aura around her, the wind sweeping loose leaves across the clearing. It was like every small flex of her muscles sent a new shock wave across us. The Yungoos had to dig their claws into dirt to stabilize themselves.

"Slaking." Her deep voice itself carried a weight that seemed to knock the wind out of us. It carried with it a challenge.

"Gumshoos, wait!" I shouted as she bounded ahead. Gumshoos bared her fangs as her claws glowed with power. Ribombee's wings buzzed furiously as she darted to catch up to the Stakeout PokeGirl's charge. Slaking just rolled her eyes and raised her hand in the air. In a sudden flash she swiped down towards the ground and a powerful blast of air fanned out. Gumshoos was thrown backwards in a second and slammed directly into Ribombee. They bounced backwards before sliding to stop just before me.

Gumshoos rubbed her head as she sat up only to gasp and shoot all the way up as she held her crotch. Ribombee buzzed back up into the air, her tongue still up and glared at the Normal type. The Stakeout PokeGirl growled at the Bee Fly who immediately started to bite back.

"Enough!" I shouted before they could start trading blows. My shouted immediately stopped Ribombee but it took the combined barks of the Yungoos to get Gumshoos to back down. "This is a Totem PokeGirl. We can't rush off half cocked and we can't argue right now." Both girls looked adequately chastised as they raised up. Slaking seemed content to lay there and wait for us to make our move as more aura poured off of her.

"Alright," I narrowed my eyes as I scanned the battlefield for any advantage. Unfortunately it was a flat field in the middle of a clearing of trees. Besides a few leaves that had been kicked up by Slaking's slap, there was nothing in-between the PokeGirls. It was a straight shot towards a wall of muscles and fat that would more than certainly break a few bones if mistakes were made.

"Ribombee, Silver Wind towards the ground!" I shouted. Ribombee copied Slaking by throwing both her arms towards the air before throwing them down. Silver Wind crashed into the ground and swept outwards. While it wouldn't damage anything it certainly kicked up a cover of leaves. Instantly the Normal types picked up what I was doing and scattered. Gumshoos darted left past Ribombee while the Yungoos shot right. Slaking barely even acknowledged the unevolved PokeGirls as her eyes tracked Gumshoos through the hastily created leaf cover. She yawned as she slapped her belly like a drum. The Yungoos closed in, their small size making them nimble as they crossed the field.

"Watch out!" Rotom shouted at the Yungoos who had to split apart to dodge a sudden impact from above. A Slakoth, near identical to the one I've been carrying, had dropped from the trees in-between the two. She sighed as she rose to a hunched posture, her long arms trailing the ground.

"Slaaaak~" She seemed to yawn at the Loitering PokeGirls. Both growled and charged her, their claws glowing a bright white. While one went low and another high both missed as Slakoth seemed to bend and flow around their attacks. Like a cloth in the wind the chubby PokeGirl dodged the combined speed of the Yungoos before slowly drawing them in. When Yungoos #1 lashed out and overextended herself, Slakoth planted her feet and threw her head forward in a vicious Headbutt. Instantly her head snapped back as a spurt of blood shot out from her broken nose.

"Gumshoos!" She shouted, distracted by her sister being hurt.

"Focus, Gumshoos. Trust them!" I shouted. I was instantly rewarded as the injured Yungoos flipped onto her feet and Yungoos #2 forced Slakoth back with a well timed Slash. Slaking smirked before putting 2 of her fingers up to her lips to whistle. She caught Gumshoos attention just in time for her next move.

"Slaking, Slak." She seemed to disregard Gumshoos as she looked anywhere but her as Slaking scratched her belly. The Stakeout PokeGirl's eyes darken as she let out a howl. I saw a brief aura of yellow and orange energy surround her before she shot off like a bat out of hell.

"Ri!" Ribombee shouted and buzzed off after her before I could call out to stop her. Damn it! Was that Swagger? Why did Ribombee charge after her?

"It seems Ribombee is trying to keep a close eye on things she doesn't need to." Hala observed with Lunick, who nodded. The ranger had to admit the power of the Totem PokeGirl had startled him. He hadn't expected it to be that intense. Usually PokeGirls who exuded that kind of force would do it in short bursts to not burn out but his trained eye could tell that Slaking could keep going for hours.

"Ribombee! Pollen Puff!" I shouted. If Ribombee was gonna jump the gun then I just had to aim it faster. Ribombee grinned as she held her hands out. Yellow and purple pollen gathered on different hands as she aimed. However, Gumshoos howled before she turned on her heel and lunged at the incoming Bug Type. Ribombee hovered higher as she could without running into the tree limbs. The thunderous look on her face deepened as she replaced the yellow pollen with another purple puff. Gumshoos blinked slightly before she jumped up towards the Bee Fly.

"RIBOMB!" She yelled as she launched both puffs at Gumshoos mid air. Slaking laughed as both of the puffs exploded in a burst of purple and green energy as Gumshoos dropped hard back onto the ground. Ribombee dusted off her hands with a huff.

"Ribombee! Look out!" I shouted but it was too late. I saw slaking shove her hand into the ground with a brown energy coating it. The larger than life Totem pulled a massive boulder out of the ground coated in that same energy and tossed it casually right towards Ribombee. The Bee Fly paled as she saw the rock too late to dodge. The boulder splayed her out like a bug on a windshield before it seemed like gravity tripled and they both dropped hard. Thankfully the rock dissipated into dust quickly leaving a dazed Ribombee right next to a rather sick looking Gumshoos.

Slaking's laughter shook the trees around as she slapped her belly in mirth. I sucked in a gasp as I saw Ribombee sit up. Slaking's attack had bent and tore one of her wings. I could see she was holding back tears as she tried to stand back up.

"Ribombee, return." I called as I aimed her pokeball, the red beam already zipping to her back. Gumshoos growled and stalked slowly back towards me, keeping her eyes on the smirking Lazy PokeGirl. Damn, not only is she overwhelmingly powerful, she's smart too. I wouldn't be surprised if she could feel the tension and discord between my PokeGirls and Gumshoos. I gritted my teeth as I ran down my options quickly. Slaking yawned from her relaxed position before fully rolling over onto her back. She kicked a leg up and crossed her meaty thighs as she seemed to close her eyes. Gumshoos growled at the obvious disrespect but I had to keep a level head.

I guess you can afford to be lazy when you're obviously on another level from your opponents. I bit my lip. I can't tell what the goal is, it surely can't be beating Slaking. She called for back up when the Yungoos jumped in to keep them busy. So it obviously has to do with me and Gumshoos. Gumshoos snapped her teeth as she charged another Slash that caused me to fli-

"Oh." I said dumbly catching the Normal type's attention. She saw how I seemed to flinch at her claw and winced before letting the attack drop. "That's what this is about. We're still not over what happened." I said with a grimace. "And I would bet everything Slaking over there knows that somehow."

It was all but confirmed when I saw Slaking's lopsided grin. Blessed by legendary bullshit. I thought as I pulled Vulpix and Pancham out. Pancham looked a bit confused before realizing she was called out to fight. She slapped her cheeky cutely before doing her best to give Slaking an intimidating glare. Vulpix on the other hand…

"I've heard of the cold shoulder but that's a little ridiculous." Lunick joked to Minum as the mystically summoned clouds began dropping hard ice from the tree lines. A couple of Slakoths grimaced and swatted at the pebbles before yawning and ignoring the sudden storm. All of that had nothing on the icy glare Vulpix maintained with Gumshoos.

"I think I know what Slaking is trying to test us on here." I said to the PokeGirls. "I can coordinate with my team well but I have no experience with you Gumshoos. You can lead your sisters but you usually take things on alone, right?" Gumshoos nodded as she saw where I was going. Vulpix and Pancham seemed to pick up my logic as well, if the panda's grin and the fox's grimace was anything to go by. We're not meant to win this. I thought as I readjusted Slakoth on my back. We just have to show we can adapt and lead. So let's do it.

Slaking smiled as she rolled over to face us once more. "Gumshoos, you lead the charge. We'll back you up." Pancham smiled as she cracked her knuckles while Vulpix seemed resigned to what we had to do. Gumshoos roared before crouching low on all fours, her tail raising up to flash us a little. I saw the muscles in her shoulders and legs tense before she took off running on all fours.
"Vulpix! Icy Wind for cover! Pancham, stick to her tail!" I shouted as my PokeGirls went to work. Vulpix breathed deeply before throwing her head forward in a call of her name. I felt the air in front of me cool as a gale of Ice energy sprung into existence from the Fox Pokegirl's mouth. Pancham sprinted low behind the charging Normal type, not quite running on all fours like her. The Icy Wind swept above the front lines towards Slaking who narrowed her eyes at the incoming attack. She raised a hand and swatted at the gale, dispersing the ice harmless. However, it didn't send Gumshoos or Pancham flying as they continued their reckless charge.

"Vulpix, Mist for cover! Pancham, get in close for a Comet Punch!" I called out. The Normal Type energy surrounded Pancham's fists as she closed in behind Gumshoos, whose claws glowed with a similar light. A white mist slowly spread across the clearing as Vulpix threw her hands forward, directing the Ice energy's flow. As both of the melee PokeGirls jumped to attack, Slaking held a hand up in front of her. Both PokeGirls stopped mid air with their attacks as they bounced off a translucent shield. Protect, noted.

Both of them landed on their feet as the mist overtook their forms. I could just barely make out their shapes in the cloud. Damn, kinda hoped I could swap them around using the Mist as cover. Gumshoos is just slightly curvier than Pancham for that to work though. Gumshoos darted left out of the fog as Pancham seemed to back up deeper into it, likely thinking to regroup to me. Need to keep pressure.

"Vulpix, close the distance with Quick Attack, fire Ice Shard as you go! Pancham, use Taunt!" I called hoping to prevent another Protect. Vulpix surrounded herself in the Normal type energy as she sprinted unnaturally quick into the middle of the clearing. Ice began to form on her finger tips before she launched them forward in a blinding flash. Pancham's taunts were a little funny as she decided to poke head out of the mist to catch Slaking's attention. She ducked back in only to poke her little round butt out and give it a couple of slaps. Whatever it did it worked as instead of blocking the Ice Shard, Slaking decided to weather the attack and send a massive blast of air from another slap. Gumshoos was able to close the distance in the meantime and loosed a bite attack right on top of Slaking's tit. The Lazy PokeGirl actually roared and then her fist glowed a bright white and slammed directly into Gumshoo's face, sending the mongoose girl flying. I don't think the air slaps are actual attacks. I think that's just her raw power.

I think it gave me an insight to Truant Slaking wasn't using moves back to back. She did have a recharge period; it was just that she could compensate for that recharge with her own physical strength. And that gave me an idea.

The mist dissipated leaving Pancham visible again. The girls were spread out surrounding Slaking in a sort of half circle, 'containing' the Totem. I could hear the rustling of bushes where the Yungoos had driven the Slakoth they had engaged too but I couldn't keep track of them.

"Vulpix, Aurora Beam, Pancham, Work Up!" The colorful beam blasted from the vulpine's mouth and Pancham took a deep breath before red energy flowed up and down her lithe body. Gumshoos took a direct approach and charged Slaking using the beam as cover. Slaking's dodge was…unique as she just seemingly decided to roll onto her ass before sticking her foot out to catch the leaping mongoose. Gumshoos balked as she realized she was sailing directly into a Mega Kick. I swear I heard a rib crack from her as she impacted. Now!

"Pancham, get under her! Gumshoos, flip!" I shouted, hoping the Stateout PokeGirl would realize. I saw her eyes snapped open as she flipped herself over. "Vulpix, keep Slaking there! Pancham, launch her with Arm Thrust!" Vulpix seemed to interpret that as using Icy Wind, as the gale buffeted the Totom. Pancham caught Gumshoos feet and balanced the mongoose in time for the orange energy to flow from her palms to cover her wrists.

"Pannnnn!" She shouted as her muscles strained under the weight of the future Totem. Gumshoos' grin was wicked as the panda threw her with all her little might. Slaking's eyes widened as she saw the furry missile heading straight for her face.

"SHOOS!" "SLAK!" The Lazy PokeGirl yelled as the Stakeout latched onto her face like a face hugger. The larger PokeGirl rolled onto her back before continuing through to stand on her feet, struggling to get the clawing bitch off her face!

"Now, Vulpix! Aurora Beam!" Gumshoos leapt off with a smirk as Slaking huffed in a bit of rage at the indignity of our unconventional attack. The Lazy PokeGirl smirked as she saw the rainbow approach before a bubble of translucent energy surrounded her, splitting the rainbow beam around it and slightly frosting the tree behind her. Gumshoos, Pancham and Vulpix's shoulders sagged as they realized it didn't work. The ape like PokeGirl let her head drop to hide her expression in shadow as more aura seemed to ripple off of her.

I felt a bit of fear creep up as I ran down what options I had on hand to do something to the PokeGirl that had shrugged off everything we had done. The girls lowered themselves in preparation for what was what? Round 6?

Then as suddenly as the tension had built it was broken by a single sound. "...Snk"

That sound rippled across the clearing causing us all to be confused as Slaking's shoulder trembled before she threw her head back in a full bellied laugh. "SLAAKAKAKAKAKA!" She roared with laughter as all the Slakoth in the treetops joined in. Vulpix sighed as Pancham and Gumshoos looked around in confusion at the Normal types. A rousing chorus of laughter drowned everything out as I blinked in confusion.

"Does this mean the fight is over?" I asked rather numbly. Slaking wiped a couple of tears from her eyes before nodding. She reached into one of the gnarled knots of the tree and pulled something out before tossing it to me. I caught the object and opened my hands to a small diamond shaped crystal. It was pure white except for in the center where, almost suspended in the structure was dark crystal in the form of 2 circles, one whole while the other was broken in half.

"A Z-crystal…" I breathed in surprise. I'll be honest, in all the excitement I kinda forgot what exactly Island Trials are supposed to grant challengers. I looked up stunned at Slaking who was already ignoring the humans for her new apprentice.

"Slak king, sla slaking." She spoke to Gumshoos who nodded. With a bit of a yawn, she stretched her arms above her head, popping a few joints loose before turning deeper into the forest. She threw a hand in farewell as left. I looked to Rotom for a translation.

"She said Gumshoos will know how to follow her after she's done here. I can relate. Hard to miss that dump truck ass." She said as eyes followed the swaying hips. The Totem looked back with a small wink before bouncing a bit more. The Slakoth in the trees all started to move, their long arms grasping the branches as they followed their leader deeper into the forest. A rustling of bushes spit out the Yungoos and their Slakoth opponent. All of them were covered head to toe in bruises, scratches and dirt but the way they were walking told me they weren't entirely fighting back there.

"Well," I said, turning to Gumshoos. The Stakeout PokeGirl turned to me with her own toothy grin. "I guess this means you've found your Trainer after all."

"I guess so…" Gumshoos said as Rotom took up translation duties. "I…" She looked like was gonna say something before she lost her confidence. I had to admit it was cute how she kicked the ground as she searched for the words she wanted to say.

"It's okay. I understand." I said, already guessing she wanted to apologize to me again. "Hey, if you wanna make it up to me. When you're a full Totem how about a battle? I've already got the Normalium Z but that doesn't mean we can't have a friendly match, right?" Gumshoos grinned before rushing forward. I heard Vulpix suck in a deep breath before she slightly relaxed. Pancham patted her on the shoulder with a comforting smile. I wrapped my arms around the PokeGirl to return her hug.
Man…why do they have to be so cute?

Gumshoos broke the hug before bouncing over the clearing to follow Slaking's troop. I probably wouldn't see them for a while but the next time I saw her she would be Totem Gumshoos.

"Well that was something…" Lunick said as he and Hala approached us. Hala's wide smile told me I had exceeded whatever expectations he had for this Trial. "I don't know what I was expecting from the Totems but I feel a Slaking might be a little overkill to be blessed by the Tapus."

Hala chuckled, "Well that Slaking has been a Totem since I was a far younger man. Her strength is not solely because of the Totem's blessing but also years of experience."

"What will happen to her and Gumshoos?" I asked.

"Slowly her strength will fade as she trains Gumshoos in the arts and secrets of being a Totem. Eventually she will know it's her time and she will depart this world and join the cycle like we all must one day."

"And her colony?" Lunick asked?

"They will find their own paths to walk." Hala said, matter of factly. "But enough of that, there is cause for celebration! It's not often the Totem's directly give a Z crystal out to challengers. Truly this is a blessed day."

"Master! I've already told everyone you completed your Trial! Mallow said she'll cook a special dinner for us if we come to her family restaurant!" Rotom hovered to my face showing the congratulations messages from my friends.

"You just want her to make the pinap berry smoothie for you again." I teased as I read a message from Kiawe about the fires of my heart and Wela Volcano. I need to get that boy a new comparison point.

"Yep!" Rotom said, unashamed. "Now come on! Let's go!"

"Hang on, we have to go to the PokeGirl Center first anyways. Ribombee took a big hit."

"Indeed. That will be a lesson for her to take away for the next battle. Never take your eyes off an enemy and definitely don't make more during a battle." Hala said with a bit of a chuckle. I nodded before turning to the Ranger.

"Are you coming too, Lunick?"

"Nah," Lunick waved away my question. "I should stick around and map this part of the forest anyways. I'll have to make a report on it soon anyways so I might as well get a jump on it."

"Don't overwork yourself. It won't do either the people or PokeGirls any good if you do." Hala said to a shrugging Lunick.

"One more thing before we go. Thanks for-" I turned my head over my shoulder expecting to see the half lidded eyes looking back at me but to my surprise they weren't there. When did she? "Hey, where did Slakoth go?" Everyone blinked and looked around to find the Slacker PokeGirl but we were all found wanting.

"That's odd. She was just on your back, Young Michael."

I frowned. "I wanted to thank her for today. Even if I had to carry her all day, if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have been able to complete my trial…"

"Such is the way of the world sometimes." Hala said as he put a comforting hand on my shoulder. "We forge connections that can be fleeting but meaningful."

"Yeah, kid. PokeGirl Rangers learn that pretty quickly. Besides our life partners, we never really forge a lasting bond with any PokeGirl."

"I guess…" I said as I returned Vulpix and Pancham. Both of my girls yawned as the red light hit them, more than likely planning on taking a nap.

Hala, Rotom and I said our goodbyes to Lunick leaving him in the clearing. Rotom was already cheering for

Lunick dropped his smile and bit out a curse. "Fucking Arceus damn it."

"Mi?" Lunick winced before scratching the mouse girl behind the ear. She cheered as she leaned into the touch. "Sorry girl, just thinking out loud. I finally get to see a Totem and even get to meet the next one and there's still not a damn thing I can do about it." Lunick chewed his thumb, a bad habit from his rookie days.

"The Totems are too important to local culture. If something happens to one the Kahuna's are bound to know eventually. That's not to mention how damn strong they are…" Lunick sighed as he thought of what to do.

"I'll have to contact the boss and see what he wants to do. Knowing my luck I'll still have to try…" Lunick perked up as a thought occurred. He turned to where the troop of Normal Types had disappeared into the foliage. Their trail was rather easy to spot with the amount of broken branches and loose tufts of fur sticking to things. "Unless I have something to sweeten the deal. I may not be able to catch the Totem…but once she's gone there's not much protecting the rest of them…" It would take a bit and he would have to remotely monitor the situation but well, Vigoraths were always solid shock troops. Not to mention if they could push a few of them all the way to Slaking. There were ways around Truant after all…

"Find their own path indeed, Kahuna Hala…"

Samson Oak sided as he opened the cabinet in his office. It was a bit of a secret of his that he kept a decanter of Kitakami gin at the school. It was a guilty pleasure of his and he knew that some would be shocked to hear the kind but goofy principal of the region's foremost PokeGirl School had a taste for fine liquor. He could only imagine what people would think if they knew his cousin had strategically placed caches around his ranch with Never-Melt-Ice and the finest vodkas from various regions.

Honestly, after what he had heard today he honestly needed it.

He'd thought the meeting that had been scheduled by Ms. Anabel Lila was a standard one. A guardian wanting to do a last minute enrollment after missing the deadline due to extenuating circumstances. Samson was a reasonable man and would always welcome anyone who wanted to learn into his school so it would be a meeting quicker than you could say Muk.

Oh how wrong I was, He thought as he swirled the gin in his glass. Guardianship directly from the International Police, potential information on several international most wanted and all topped off by being from the region with the worst humanitarian crisis in modern history. And the only reason he knew that much was he had to sign enough ironclad NDAs and agreements that meant if he slipped up he would be in every court from here to Ransei. And I still feel like I'm not getting the full picture…

"Just who are you Michael?" He wondered aloud as he took a sip. A buzz from his desk drew his attention to the intercom. His assistant Melony's voice came through.

"Professor Kukui here to see you, sir."

"Oh yes, send him in, please." He said.

Kukui entered with his usual boisterous cheer. He remembered when the young man told him his intentions to pursue a degree in PokeGirl Research. Samson personally was biased towards it, admittedly, even if the man still had the penchant and skill for high level battles. He was an educator, through and through of course he would encourage anybody to seek knowledge.

"Little early for the ol' Apple Acid, don't you think?" He teased his technical boss and sat down across from him. Oak chuckled a bit at the pun.

"Not apple gin, I'm afraid you'll try again." Kukui looked a bit surprised to not hear a pun from his old mentor. "And after that last meeting I had, you'd want some too."

"Oh? What happened?"

"Can't tell you. Signed enough NDAs to not try and tempt this one." Oak groused. He gestured to the files on his coffee table. "That's neither here nor there. I've got to inform you that you'll have 2 more students for your class." Kukui nodded as he grabbed the files.

"Little late to be throwing me a Bonemerang, don't you think?" He joked before reading the files. "Rachael Misaki. Isn't she a grade ahead of the rest of my students?"

"She dropped out of the school the year before last alongside some of her friends. That would automatically put her a grade behind our usual curriculum. Seems either her parents convinced her to attend again or she had a change of heart. Regardless, we both know your class is rather unorthodox and can cross grade boundaries."

"Think she'll be able to keep up?" Kukui asked as he examined some of the grades and personal records.

"The file doesn't paint the best picture but I can see her potential. Surround her with good peers and I imagine she'll apply herself and won't be out of place from the rest of your students."

Kukui nodded before picking up the other file. It was practically empty which surprised the Regional Professor. Even more surprising was seeing the name and Trainer License of Michael. "Sir?" Oak let out a bit of a defeated chuckle.

"Be glad you've got even a name beforehand. I take it you're familiar with the young man?"

"Yeah, I've told you how I wanted to study how electronics influence wild Rotoms and what a Rotom can do with something with more processing power than a smart oven?" Oak nodded. "Michael is the Trainer that's been helping me with the experiment. I think you met them both when they toured the school before what happened the other week."

"I did. I honestly thought the Rotom was yours."

"Well technically she's no one's. It's just his phone." Kukui clarified. "Why's his file so empty? I mean no grades, no personal notes and I only see a single contact that doesn't share his last name."

Oak sighed as he finished his glass. "Well that contact is his current guardian, Anabel Lila. For all intents and purposes he's a ward of the state. Homeless and orphaned, unfortunately." Kukui recoiled in shock at learning that. He figured Michael was just a kid doing Poke Quests to earn a bit of money and saving up to go on his first Journey. If he'd have known…well he did have a spare loft. "As for the grades, heh, good luck trying to find anything, even if he did go to a proper school before now."

"Why do you say that?"

"He's from Orre." Oak said as that explained everything. Between roving criminal groups, near quarterly regime changes and the general destitution of the region it was hard to get anything besides refugees out of there.

"I guess I can give them both a general aptitude test on the first day to see where their knowledge and skills are. Mmmm, maybe better to just do that for the whole class now that I think about it…"

"Well, I'll trust you to take care of your students. I know it's your first year directly teaching but you were always popular for your guest lectures! Besides, you know that old saying! You teach me and I'll…"

"I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be for PokeGirl training…which is a significantly less daunting task." Kukui laughed.

"Well while I have you here, do you have any other concerns?" Oak asked as he put away his glasses. No sense in having more after all. He was at work and that particular brand is 15,000 poke.

"Well I suppose we're discussing them, Lillie's case is odd and gives me some pause. I mean attending a PokeGirl school while having a fear of PokeGirls is a bit…"

"I'll admit I have the same trepidations but Ms. Hymes was very adamant about working to overcome her fears. I imagine if she didn't have the support of her family she wouldn't be allowed to attend, though mind you I only met the butler in our meeting."

"Right, I'll try and take baby steps with her during any PokeGirl class and possibly pull her aside during free periods. The only other concern I have is Kiawe. Akala might be a short flight away for that Charizard but since that's his Grandfather's PokeGirl I do have some concerns about conflicts. I mean what if she's needed for a Grand Trial?"

"Oh I've already spoken to Kahuna Mahi'ai. Between you and me, he's trying to condition the poor girl for…the inevitable." Oak said with a bit of sadness. "He's promised that Kiawe will always have Charizard to attend school, something about Wela blessing him with enough warriors that he can spare his best for his family."

Kukui nodded along, "Well I suppose that's all. I'll just have to put the finishing touches on my lesson plan. Wouldn't want to make a bad First Impression."

Oak laughed, "Well I suppose this year is gonna to be Absol-utely great!"

Kahuna Hala and I had parted ways once we reached the edge of town. He left with a promise of scheduling a day for my Grand Trial and to get me a Z-Ring. He was a busy man I'm sure. Then again I wasn't imagining the look Hariyama was giving him on our way back so who knows. I made my way to the PokeGirl Center to hand off my PokeGirls and decided now was a good time to text the Alola Crew. Rotom begrudgingly let me 'manhandle' her so I could be the one to text my friends back. It's not that I minded having her be my personal messaging assistant it was just sometimes I needed less dick jokes and more bragging.

Hot Tamales : Congratulations! I can believe you won against the Normal Totem!

Bi-sected: Well I didn't really knock her out, it was more a test.

Bi-sected: … I'm gonna kill Rapp next time I see her.

Hot Tamales : I can't fucking breathe! That's too good.

Hot Tamales : you have to leave it!

Bi-sected: Et tu brute?

Hot Tamales : Huh?

Bi-sected: Nevermind. It gets changed when either I think of a clever one or I get a hold of Rapp's phone to get my revenge.

"Don't warn her, Rotom. Also remind me to brush up on some Poke History. I thought for sure that saying would translate…"

"Done! What's the saying supposed to mean?"

"Line from a play about a real event. Character is mobbed to death by the senate including one of his friends and confidants."

"Oh so a tragedy. I'll try to find an analog later!"

The Bank : Um, Hello Michael!

The Bank : Oh! It's Lille.

The Bank : Sorry I had to get your number from Mallow since I forgot last night at the sleepover
The Bank : Oh you're doing your Trial right now so you won't see these. Sorry!

I blinked before face palming. Right I meant to get her number right before Sophocles dragged me and Kiawe into that Smash Bro's tournament. "Still can't believe that edge guarding…" I mumbled as I replied to Lillie.

Bi-sected: Hey Lils, it's okay. I passed the Trial!

Bi-sected: Also ignore the name. I will get my revenge on Rapp and Lana.

The Bank : I believe I know your pain

The Bank : Well…not exactly but…

The Bank : Oh! But congratulations! I imagine it was a challenge!

Bi-sected: It's okay Lils. I know what you mean

Bi-sected: And you're right. I had to go up against a Slaking. Ribombee is being seen by Nurse Joy rn with Vulpix and Pancham not too far behind.

The Bank : Oh! I hope they're alright. I'm sure Nurse Joy will heal them quickly!

I smiled and was about to move onto the stream of emoji's Lana was bombarding me with before a last text from Lillie caught my eye.

The Bank : Oh and Michael? I was wondering, with next week being the first week of classes, would you be free Friday evening?

I felt my blush creep up slightly. Is Lillie asking me out? Lillie must have come to the same thought as a series of texts came rushing in.

The Bank : MOTHER WANTS

The Bank : MOTHER WAS

The Bank : THAT IS

Bi-sected: Calm down Lils. It's okay lol

The Bank : ohhhhhh

The Bank : Mother wants me to invite you to dinner as thanks for saving me.

I couldn't help but bite my lip as I thought about that. Honestly I was hesitant to accept mainly because of the hostess. Lusamine was one of two things. Either she was a bit of a neglectful mother who tried smothering whenever she was around her kids to make up for it. Which was infinitely better than a sociopath Pokemon (or in this case PokeGirl) collector that would throw her own kids to the wolves if it meant she could be with an Ultra Beast. I honestly had no idea which Lusamine I would get since I'm fairly confident I was getting a mix of games and anime with a heavy lean towards anime.

But wouldn't this be the perfect time? I thought quickly. If I don't meet her now then I'll inevitably meet her down the line and by that point it might be too late…If I do it now and get a read on her I might be able to tell Anabel and head off anything bad.

Bi-sected: Sure I wouldn't mind meeting your mom.

Bi-sected: Do I need to bring anything?

The Bank : YAY! And no, don't worry about that at all! The chef's will be preparing everything!

Bi-sected: Sounds good. I guess I'll see you at school?

The Bank : Oh yes. It's rather short notice so I can't be at Mallow's tonight. But Congratulations again! 3

Bi-sected: Thanks Lils, TTYL!

I decided not to comment on the heart as I could already hear the girly squeals from here. I checked the progress on my PokeGirls healing and saw I had another hour before even Pancham would be done. "Got any suggestions on what to do?" I asked Rotom.

"Take suggestive photos and tease Rapp to death? Of either us or her?"

"I've already died once. Don't plan on repeating it Rotom…"

The sun beamed down on the deck of the S.S. Virgo. It was a cargo ship running routes between Paldea and Kanto with a stopover in the Alolan islands. Of course, she didn't know or care about any of this. It was just a nice place for her to rest after flying with her sisters. Who were lost. Not her. Nope.
She yawned as wide as her mouth could go before she kicked her tail, floating up in the air like her momma said they once did in the seas. Momma said that once the sea was a lot higher! They would swim all the time. She didn't quite get it. Flying was so much more fun!

Her tummy growled as she realized she forgot to eat. Momma had said they didn't have to eat much anymore but that didn't mean it wasn't tasty. Her sisters agreed with her but Momma was always right so she didn't teach them how to hunt. She flinched when she heard a loud bang and several loud voices. Maybe that was her sisters?

Yellow eyes peered unblinking around the corner. Several humans (Momma said there weren't humans before she woke up) were yelling at the youngest one, a bashful expression on his face. Why are they yelling? Oh! Fishies!

"God damn it, Sean! That's the 3rd time this month! Why the hell do you think we call you Toes!" The oldest of the humans yelled at the youngling.

"Uhhh because-" The redhead started to say something.

"BECAUSE YOU DAMN SURE AIN'T A HELPING HAND AND YOU'RE THE FURTHEST THING FROM BEING ONE! NOW CLEAN THIS DECK, SEAMAN!"

Before Sean (what a funny name!) could move, she decided to strike. Fishies were a good breakfast and she didn't even need to swim after these! She swooped in low across the deck and inbetween on the legs of the humans. She had legs too but not as long as they did. Why should she? Her tail was super powerful and let her fly all she wanted! She grabbed 2 of the fishies and swept up in the air like the apex she was. Momma would be so proud! She squealed in a bit of joy as she tumbled through the air.

"Oh shit! Is that a ghost?!" "I think it is! Fuck, let's get out of here!"

She looked down at the humans. Why were they running? Were they playing? Oh! Maybe they wanted to play tag with her! Her sisters did so they should too right? She wiggled in the air to position herself to the humans ready to chase, her powerful tail coiling in preparation to send her flying forward when the older human pulled out a blue and black sphere? Now they wanted to play catch?

"Go, Crawdaunt!" "CRAW!" A bit of a blinding light erupted from the sphere and another PokeGirl appeared. The first thing she saw was how she didn't have legs. At least, not like the humans or her family. Her waist ended right below her hips and transformed into a large tail with several legs supporting her. A shell covered everything, rose up her back and ended just past her sides meaning she had a hard back but a soft underbelly. The PokeGirl was one of the few to wear something over her chest. What did Momma call them? Clothes? But even still the light blue fabric was straining to contain her DD chest. She couldn't help but gulp at the two larger pincer claws that her arms ended in. She shook her long flowing dark hair that spilled out from behind a natural chitin star on her forehead.

"Damnit old man, what do you want now?" She groused at the old human.

"Drive that thing away!" He shouted while pointing. Who's he pointing at? She checked behind her. Was there someone else here? The large crab woman looked at her and seemed to face palm (face claw?).

"Really? For a toddler? Fuckin' whiney baby…" She mumbled. "HEY! You up there!"

"Me?"

"Yeah you. Listen, these guys are kinda jump around your kind. I'm gonna need to buzz off."

"B-but why? I haven't done anything!"

The crab grumbled, "Yeah I know kid. But these guys are afraid of what you can do. So shove off."

"Don't just stand there! Use Crabhammer!" The man shouted and the crab lady sighed.

"Don't say I didn't warn you kid!" She shouted as one of her claws built up a blue glow. Water started to froth at the edges before all of her strong legs bowed and let her leap in the air at her.

Oh no! Momma said there were meanies in the world! What does she do?! What does she do?! Right! That!

She turned after if she was getting ready to run before swiftly turning around and shouting at the jumping crab.

"Boo!" The attack didn't do much to her attacker but it was just enough to cause her to flinch. The glow around her claw disappeared and she fell back to the deck with a thud as all four of her legs caught her. She shook her head before glaring at the intruder. Who was sticking her tongue out and pulling her eye lid down at her.

"Serves you right, jerk!" She then started to wiggle in the air, her long lithe and snake like body flowing with invisible winds. From all around her from her cute heart shaped butt to her flat chest and especially from her long tail, scales started to drift off and fall. Momma said this was a move that would distract long enough for her to get away. The scales glowed a bit before immediately rushing to the surprised Crawdaunt. They began burrowing and moving around the crab's body making her squeal in shock and horror.

"AAAAAAA! GETTHEMOFFGETTHEMOFFGETTHEMOFF…" The crab ran around while the old man panicked and tried to calm his PokeGirl down before she could crush anything on deck. Not that she cared.

She didn't stick around long enough to see. She chewed lazily on her fish as she flew over the open ocean. They were meanies so they got what they deserved. It was kinda sad though. Humans looked like so much fun to play with. Momma always said that one day she might meet a human that makes her heart go *Doki* and that would always play with her. She didn't know about that. She was proud when her sister went with that one small human and when she returned she was evolved. It was really cool but…

She yawned again. Maybe I should go back to sleep. But where…? She blinked as she looked out on the horizon. A series of islands rose up from the rolling waves, beacons of greenery. That looked like a fun place! She could find her sisters later, they would probably still be with Momma too so it would be fine! She rolled with joy as she flew towards land.

Turns out even in the relaxed and friendly anime world of Pokemon, it was still difficult to organize gatherings on such short notice. It was a bit much for people to drop everything for a party after all. Honestly the only reason it was happening was because Mallow didn't take no for an answer when it came to celebrating her friends' success. I had tried in vain to get her to reconsider hosting a party a day after a sleepover but I could practically feel the mom friend glare through the phone screen. The way Rotom shivered didn't instill confidence either. Mallow was either 4x effective against my will or I just didn't have any to begin with as she told me she was hosting anyways.

Still not everyone was as weak willed as me. Kiawe's parents had held him back on Akala for farm work and to babysit his little sister. I imagine the second they said Mimo he had folded and said yes. Lillie also had a family affair, saying she was heading to the Aether Foundation for a dinner with her mother. I didn't imagine the exasperation and twinge of sadness as she told us. Sopholcles didn't even bother to respond. I would later find out when he was begging to be spared from Mallow's wrath that he had gotten wrapped up in an online raid and had completely detached from his phone. It did not save him.

Still it wasn't a dead affair. Her sisters made their loud entrance before Lana could even get in the cafe door. Harper and Sarah ran with all the force of a tornado around the cafe before they were expertly scooped by their Mom. She gave me a little wink and congratulations as she dragged the twins away to keep them out of trouble. I even got to meet her dad for the first time. He had started with the intimidation father routine before Lana had cut him down to size with a couple of jabs. After that I found he was just a boisterous cheerful guy.

Rapp and her parents came in a little after that. Her dad only said a few words before immediately making a beedrilline towards the dads. I was a bit confused before Dr. Masaki spoke up.

"Don't mind him, dear. Rough day at the office." She smiled, "How are you? Any residual pain?"

"No ma'am. I'm 100%." I said with a cheeky grin.

"Good. Let me know if you have any complications and I expect to see you at your follow up." Her smile faded as she caught her husband popping the top off a bottle. "Excuse me." She headed towards her husband, her high heels clacking ominously. Meowscarada giggled as she followed, only stopping to rub the top of my head with one of her large pawed hands.

"Guess, your folks have had a day?" I quipped to Rapp who rolled her eyes at her embarrassing parents.

"Yea, you could say that." She scoffed before side eyeing me. "What are you doing next Saturday?" She asked with a bit of a blush.

I blinked as I ran down my schedule. When did I get so busy? "Nothing much. Why?"

She exhaled out her nose, "Tupp and Zipp invited me to a party on Ula'Ula."

"Oh? That sounds like fun."

"Yea but…," She leaned in to whisper to me. Poppilo bounced by us as she chased a bouncing Bounsweet and giggling Pancham. "You remember that weird guy at the concert? With all the chains and stuff?"

Guzma…fuck. "Yeah, I remember him."

"Yeah, well, Tupp and Zipp have been hanging around him a lot more. I think that's why they didn't visit you after you got sliced. He's having a party and they're going and want me to come."

"But…?"

"But I don't feel safe going, okay?" She said with a bit of a blush. "I trust Tupp and Zipp, even if they are morons, but I remember what you said about him at the concert. He's just…"

"Shady as hell?" I offered.

"Yeah! Shady as fuck. So… you in?"

"Of course I'm in. I'm not gonna just let you walk into a lion's den." She smiled before I gained a bit of a smirk. "I guess a date is a good enough payment for you changing my contact name."

She blushed as her eyes widened in panic. "Uhhh, IthinkLanaiscallingmegottagobye!"

I chuckled as I watched her speed walk away. I couldn't help but feel my eyes trail down to her ass as she went. She really works those jeans… I shook my head. No reason to get horny right now. I was about to mingle when the door opened again. Professor Kukui blinked as he saw the large amount of people gathered in Abe's cafe.

"Oh! Alola, everyone! I don't suppose I'm intruding?"

"No professor, you're more than welcome." I said. "I didn't think you'd come."

"Haha well Rotom told me about the celebration right after I got off the phone with Hala. You did amazing today from what he was saying." Kukui grinned.

"Well I don't know." I couldn't help but blush at the praise.

"Well, he said you had a natural talent and he's looking forward to your Grand Trial. I am too!" Kukui laughed. "Though I guess you'll have to settle for my class in the meantime."

"I'm in your class?" I asked a little dumbly. I honestly thought Kukui's class was either a higher grade level or basically advanced course material. I didn't even have a record. In this world, let alone a grade point average.

"Yep!" Kukui grinned. "I was able to talk Principal Oak into letting me handpick my class and I had to get my research assistant in there!"

"Wait, research assistant? I thought…"

Kukui rubbed the back of his head, "Yeah I've been meaning to tell Rotom to swing you guys by the lab but I figured I'd go ahead and tell you since you're here. You've already been doing the job by watching Rotom so it's not like you can't do it. Just now you'll be official!" He gave me a bit of a thumbs up.

"Well… not that it doesn't sound awesome but what does it mean?" I asked.

"Well you'd basically be an axillary employee that represents me and my lab. If you were to compete in a sanction tournament the lab would be affiliated, if you wanted to write a paper we could edit it and publish it through our channels. It's not like I would ask you to find a Garchomp nest to study or anything but just anything you come across would basically have to be forwarded to me before any other professor." Kukui explained before he put on a bit of a serious expression. "It's not like I would ask you to find and study a Garchomp nest but it is a serious commitment and position. You'd basically be considered my direct subordinate and be treated as such. You'd be a face for the lab. Think you can handle it?"

I put a hand to my chin for a minute as I weighed my options. I honestly didn't see the downsides but I was honestly out of my depth. I didn't know the first thing about being a research assistant and I damn sure didn't know how to write reports or anything. "Do you mind if I talk to someone first? Not that I don't want the position but…" I trailed off and Kukui smiled.

"Sure! Talk to whoever you need. The position isn't going anywhere and it's basically only for you. Let me know and I'll start on the paperwork!" He patted my shoulder before going to join the other adults. I rubbed the back of my head as I thought about it. Anabel would probably have some advice. Speaking of the psychic, where is she?

Speak of the devil and she will appear. The doors opened once again to a smirking agent of the International Police. She strode in saying hellos to some of the PokeGirls and humans that took notice of her. Honestly, how could they not? I thought as I watched the sway of her hips as she crossed the cafe floor. Something about a sharp dressed woman…

Glad to see I've still got it. Another voice in my head made me roll my eyes.

Abuse. Help. I need an adult. One that won't pick up my dirty thoughts.

Oh honey. I am an adult. She giggled as she approached me before throwing an arm around my shoulders. "Congrats! I heard you passed your Trial! I hope you weren't planning to leave little old me out of this!"

I rolled my eyes at her, "No I wouldn't and probably couldn't leave my legal guardian out." Besides, it's good you're here. Got something to tell you.

Save it, She responded. I've got something too and it'll be easier to get it all done when and where we can't be overheard. Besides… She grinned. It's your party. Go have fun with your harem…I mean friends.

She giggled in response to my withering glare as she went to introduce herself to the others. I was about to go bother someone when a cheerful voice called from the kitchen.

"Alright, the PokeGirl food is ready!" Mallow announced as she rolled out a small tray. She grabbed my arm as she passed by. "Hey mind helping me feed your team?" She asked as she passed out some bowls and trays.

"Of course, no problem." I said as I grabbed my team's food.

"Alright, Pecha berry chunks with a drizzle of honey!" I said as I placed the small bowl in front of Ribombee. She smiled and blew me a kiss from her seat on the table. Her wing was back in place and her arm was still in a sling. The Smack Down had dislocated her shoulder and broke her wing. Nurse Joy had given me explicit instructions for her to refrain from flying for a couple of days so she was ground bound while she rested.

"Riiii!" She said she puckered her lips. I rolled my eyes and bent down to give her a chaste kiss.

"You still need to rest. Eat up!" I encouraged her. I turned back to the rest of my team, with Pancham practically vibrating in her seat.

"Cheri berries with a side of roasted chicken." I said as I slid the bowl in front of a smiling Vulpix. It was a small one but I knew it was there. "For my queen of the cold." Before I could turn to Pancham I felt her cool hands on my arm. I turned back to see her pouting as her eyes darted to my lips. I smiled and gave her a little kiss. She smiled a bit wider with dreamy eyes.

"For my rough and tumble gal." I put the bowl in front of Pancham as she immediately snatched a bite. "A heaping plate of steamed bamboo shoots and pumpkin." She cheered before shooting up to rain rapid kisses all over my face before digging in. "Slow down or you'll be wearing it. I'd rather not have to give you a bath tonight." I joked as she ignored me.

I rolled my eyes before placing the last plate. "And finally Enigma and Starf berries wrapped in Nanab leaves." Slakoth smiled and pulled me in for her own kiss, a slow and passionate one. I turned to go back to my friends before my mind caught up with itself.

"WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?!" My PokeGirls, Rotom and I shouted at the Slacker PokeGirl who continued to slowly eat her dinner. She blinked lazily before pointing a clawed finger at my belt of pokeballs.

"What? But I didn't catch you? You just disappeared at the end of the trial." I said as others gathered around me.

"Wow, I didn't know you caught a Slakoth. They're pretty rare here in the Alola Region." Kukui said as he kneeled down. Slakoth seemed to ignore us all as she continued to eat. "How'd this happen?"

"Well, I carried her on my back all day. She was guiding us around the forest. She disappeared just before the end of the Trial." I explained before turning to her. "I'm glad to see you again since I didn't get to thank you but how did you get here?"

She shrugged before pointing at my pokeballs again. Sure enough I pulled on what I thought was an empty pokeball. It instead held the display for the owner of the Pokeball. It was Slakoth, relaxing on her belly, arms propping her up and giving a nice view of her soft breasts. Her feet were kicked up and resting on her chubby ass as she yawned into whatever camera or technology that captured their image for the Pokeballs holographic.

"But, how the, when the?" I stuttered.

"Uhh Master?" Rotom ventured. She was flipping through my pokedex files on the application installed on the phone. "It says here that you did indeed capture and register Slakoth around the end of the Trial. My guess is she leaned down and self-captured herself when we were all distracted."

I couldn't help but facepalm at that. I was so engrossed in the battle I had honestly forgotten about her being there. Of course she captured herself, it was the only way she could have disappeared that fast without anyone noticing. "Slaking's not gonna be mad about this right?" I asked Kukui as he had experience with Trials and probably Totems.

The regional Professor shook his head. "If that's the same Slaking I know, she'd probably be glad one of her kids got off their ass and went with a Trainer." He stood up after finishing whatever inspection he was doing. "I can send Rotom some guides for Slakoth care later, if you'd like." I could only nod before I turned back to the Normal Type.

"I'm not gonna lie, Slakoth. I wanna be a champion one day and that means a lot of battling and training. I won't force you to battle but if you do, you'll have to give it your all. Think you can do it?" Slakoth nodded with a double thumbs up before smiling. She motioned for me to come closer.

I blinked before leaning down closer to her face. Her smile turned into a bit of a smirk as she opened her mouth for a big yawn. A little white cloud exited her mouth and puffed against my face…oh…that was-

Slakoth caught me as I went down and positioned my head onto her thighs. She giggled and stroked my hair as everyone else laughed at my predicament. Well, at least they're soft. I thought as I drifted off with dreams of thick, chubby girls and their benefits as pillows.
