CHAPTER 30

At the North Army Camp in Begnion, a Begnion Sentinel named Levail was speaking to a Begnion cavalry soldier. He had unfortunately mentioned that no one would listen to him, which made his heart heavy. With Levail himself mentioning that the noble people were competing with one another for potential rewards and other status of the dangerous lands, the cavalry men were confused. The laguz, whom the soldiers referred to as "filthy sub-humans", were already waiting at the door. One cavalry soldier was concerned that all the nobles wanted were potential rewards. Levail pointed out that the nobles wanted to listen to other nobles, not Levail himself. One soldier asked how exactly the rest of the army was going to survive it. Levail started making plans.

At the camp of the Laguz Alliance, Ike was meeting up with old faces such as Ilyana, Nephenee, Brom, Haar, and the Merchant Convoy. Aimee was still flirting with Ike, the same way she did three years ago with him after giving him a staff. Then yelling was heard.

"Yaaaaaaawwwwwwn…" yawned Haar. "That woke me up."

"Haar, you were sleeping all this time?!" asked Ilyana. "Come on, get it together."

Kamaria soared down to see the mercenaries.

"What is it, Kamaria?" asked Ike.

"It's the Begnion soldiers and the Central Army." said Kamaria. "They are coming right for us as we speak. We must prepare for battle."

"Finally!" yelled Skrimir. "Beorc flesh of Begnion to feast on. Like a true beast."

"Skrimir, I–" said Ranulf.

"Do not test me, Ranulf! I'm going to feast on the Begnion beorc soldiers!" yelled Skrimir. He later shifted into his lion form and ran off to "feast on the soldiers of Begnion".

"...Changelings." said Ranulf.

"Men of Begnion! You know your drill!" yelled the general. The Begnion army then sang a round song to rally their troops.

As Ike and his troops marched onto the battlefield, with pegasi and wyverns above with men and women mounted, Kamaria saw a Begnion Dragonmaster coming straight towards her. This prompted her to ready her lance and skewer the soldier in the head.

"That's about it." said Kamaria after skewering the soldier.

Kamaria later flew off to deal with more soldiers flying on winged mounts. Haar later caught up with her.

"Oh, hi!" exclaimed Kamaria. "Remember me? I'm Kamaria. Pegasus Knight of the Greil Mercenaries. Haar, if I remember correctly…?"

"Yaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwnnnn…" yawned Haar. "Yeah. That's my name."

"You seem tired." said Kamaria.

"Shut your trap, Kamaria!" yelled Soren from down below Kamaria. "Get to fighting the soldiers!"

"You want to work with me?" asked Kamaria.

"I...guess…..yaaaaaawwwn….." said Haar as he yawned.

"Hmph." said Kamaria. "It's about time I wake him up." said Kamaria.

As the battle was being fought by the Laguz Alliance, Cecily sensed something in the distance, and reported back to Ike.

"Is it reinforcements?" asked Ike.

"I would imagine so." said Cecily.

"Well, that would mean something for me." said Feradina.

Daelyn–in her tiger form–ran to the Begnion reinforcements,; and used both her claws and fangs to wipe out the troops. Cecily's other beast soldiers then proceeded to help with Daelyn as she was struggling with dealing with the strong soldiers. Hawk laguz Talaga then transformed into her Hawk form and decided to deal with the wyvern riders and the pegasus knights. Kamaria then decided to give some assistance after Cecily called out her bird laguz soldiers.

When the fight was over, and the general was pronounced dead before the remaining troops fled, Ranulf then went to Ike after he shifted back into his normal humanoid form. Ranulf did say that it was pretty fast; Soren then mentioned that the commanders were terrible people who didn't exactly know how to lead an army.

"Things seem to be working out pretty good so far." said Ranulf.

"It'll be a matter of time before they wave a white flag for surrender." said Ike.

"He's right." said Ranulf.

"Enemies to the south! Central Army troops are incoming!" yelled Kamaria as she flew on her pegasus.

"Central Army Troops?!" asked Ike.

"What?!" asked Ranulf.

Ike went to see the large amount of soldiers in the army. As he presumed Tibarn was dead after he failed to stall the army, Soren doubted that there was even a battle.

"You know, there's still enemies to the north. This may be a worst-case scenario." said Titania.

"We've got to retreat; this is serious trouble." said Ranulf.

"And I show my back to the beorc?!" asked Skrimir. "Never would I do that!" he hollered.

"This is the Central Army we are talking about." said Ranulf. "We have to retreat now."

Skrimir then shifted into his lion form.

"You know what, I'm going with you." said Ranulf.

Cecily's laguz changelings of the Laguz Confederation Legion and the beasts of Gallia proceeded to chase after the Begnion army. However, the force of Skrimir's lion roar and the distant sounds of ravens cawing scared the soldiers off.

Skrimir later shifted back into his humanoid form, and announced a retreat call. Zelgius, the man commanding the Central Army, was just given the report that the Laguz Alliance made their triumphant retreat.
