Sorry for not updating for a few days. I've been hanging out with people. And don't worry. I will get the Wish chapters done and another chapter of How to Unite Two Worlds will be up soon. I just wanted to finish this made-up episode first. I would also like to point out that any new characters that come up apart from my OCs don't belong to me. They belong to their creators. I'm just following the requests of fans.

Departs and Broken Hearts Part Two:

(Two Weeks after the Battle at the Storm Spire)

It was a calm but cloudy day in Katolis. Two weeks had passed since the battle was victorious and the era of peace had begun. But there was much work to be done. They held funerals for the fallen soldiers, sadly informing mothers that their husbands weren't coming home and orphanages started filling up with children. Ezran assured the widows and orphans that he would make every effort to ensure their well-being. Even Aanya and Grark sent his kingdom gifts of offering, including food, hoping they would enlighten their hearts.

The young king wearing a new crown made his way down the corridor carrying Bait. He had just turned the corner towards his elder sister's room when Willow appeared, having already given the door a knock. Felix was by her feet, the rejected Adoraburrs riding on his back. The fox sat on the floor and Willow stroked his fluffy head whilst Bait gave him and his riders a comforting croak.

"I'm worried about Caroline, Ez. She's still moping in her room, refusing to eat or do anything. We have to do something."

"What can we do except her give the space she needs?"

"She shouldn't have to bear this alone. I miss Raylan too,"

"As do I," Ezran hugged her. "How's Pyrrah, by the way?"

"She's settled into her new stable. She can even reach her head up to greet me through one of my windows,"

"Wonderful. I'm just glad we could find a large space not near the horses,"

"Thank you, Ez,"

Footsteps were approaching them and they turned to see it was Soren. "Morning guys, how's Carol?"

The children shook their heads and he sighed. "I'm sorry that he left. I know how close you guys are to him as well,"

"He will return to us," Ezran said with hope. "We just have to be patient,"

"How can we be patient? He had no right to leave your sister alone like that in the middle of the night. And on her birthday of all days!"

Soren, please? Felix barked.

"Oh, ah…sorry Felix," he apologised. Felix calmed down and the Crownguard bent and stroked his head. He purred. "Carol is so lucky to have a companion like you. I received another message from Ibis asking if she's ready to attend school,"

"I don't think she's ready to go," Ezran said sadly.

"I don't think she'll even want to go," Willow forced herself to say.

"No. She should go," Soren approved. "Magic school is what will make her feel better. It's exactly what she needs,"

"King Ezran!" Opeli walked down the hallway. "Your aunt General Amaya, Commander Gren and Caldor, your new vizier have arrived,"

The two siblings Bait, Felix and Soren made their way to the throne room where they saw the general, the interpretation and the vizier awaiting them. Amaya embraced the king and princess and Soren shook Gren and Caldor's hands, relieved they had arrived safe and sound from Xadia.

"How are Queen Janai and her people?" Ezran asked. "Are the builders we sent helping them build up their camp?"

"They are doing a good job," Caldor smiled. "Though I have to admit, it's a bit tense, but Warwath, Sunus, Thorsten and his family are doing their best to keep the peace,"

"Good," Ezran sighed in relief.

"How is Ethari?"

"He's doing very well. Lujanne has given him sanctuary at the Moon Nexus. At least until it's safe for him to return to Xadia," Willow explained. "I just hope the Dragon Queen punishes Lord Moony for what he did to Ray, Carol and Zym,".

"Hey, where is Caroline?" Gren asked. "We were sad we couldn't come for her birthday with so much going on,"

Amaya playfully rolled her eyes. Are she and Raylan doing their own private things? She signed. Her lips faltered seeing her nephew and other niece's sad faces. What has happened?

Soren decided to answer the question that the siblings couldn't. "Raylan left on Carol's birthday,"

"What?" the three adults exclaimed.

Amaya's fists clenched. How could he do that to Carol? Gren ensured his speaking matched her face colour.

"He said in a letter he left behind, that he was going to try to find Castor, Viren and Claudia even though we couldn't find them," Soren explained. Seeing the tight muscles holding back his agony, Willow held his hands, remorseful that he didn't have a family like she did.

"He left her to protect her," Ezran explained. "We know he would never break her heart on purpose,"

"Caldor and Castor are dead," Caldor fumed. "They have to be,"

"We didn't find their bodies," Soren reminded. "And don't forget, my crazy sister is out there, too. We sent messages to Ibis, and he's been sending Skywing elves to search for Raylan. But what's worrying Caroline is he has a horrible, infected bite mark on his neck,"

"Oh, my goodness," Caldor breathed. "He should have told us before. I could have checked on him. I hope he'll be okay,"

"Have you guys tried talking to her?" Opeli asked.

"We've tried but she won't come out of her room," Willow said. "She always knew what to say when we felt down. I wish we could do the same for her,".

Bait croaked sadly. Felix flopped his ears, and the Adoraburrs snuggled up next to his tail. "Maybe I could talk to her," Soren offered.

"That's kind of you Soren, but I don't think there's anything you can say that will lift her spirits," Ezran gently declined.

"Let me try," he begged. "I know exactly what she's going through," they gave him a look. "I've never dated anyone in my life if that's what you're thinking. Just please let me try,"

I think we should. Felix begged, wagging his tail beside Soren to show his support.

"You see? Even he agrees,".

Felix frowned at him. Don't push it.

"Sorry, got carried away with the support. Okay. I'm gonna go," he walked off out of the throne room.

I don't like this. Amaya signed, glaring out at him as he disappeared through the doors.

"Come on Aunt. Soren's not a bully to her anymore. If anything, he's just trying to make it up to her," Willow said positively. "Whatever it is he went, I'm sure it'll help him cheer up her,".

Soren made his way to Caroline's bedroom chambers. He cleared his throat. Knock. Knock.

"Go away," groaned the voice behind the doors.

"Carol, it's just me," Soren said. "I just wanna talk to you,". No response. He huffed. "I didn't want to do this," he said to himself. "But I will,". He pressed his palm against the wood and gently pushed it open. He saw Caroline on her four-poster bed, back-turned not turning to him.

"If you're here to say another message from the Sky Academy has come, I'm not interested," she answered back rudely.

"Carol, Ibis is still open to having you. He says it's not too late to start,"

"It is too late to start,". She stood up and went to wipe her face over a bowl of water. "I don't want to hear anything else. Now please leave me alone."

But Soren would not give up. "Have you seen yourself? You can't keep going on like this. Carol, I understand how painful it is when someone who loves you walks out on you like that."

"No! You don't!" she snapped. "Not unless you had a girlfriend who walked out on you like that and broke your heart!"

"In my case, it was my mother,"

Carol paused. "Oh. I'm sorry. I..I..I didn't know,"

"It's okay. It's not something I talk about." he walked outside into the open air and leaned on the balcony. "I know Claudia's never talked about it with you but…when she and I were kids, our parents split up," Carol blinked. Claudia had always told her their mother died because she was sick. But now in truth, she was actually alive. "I remember hearing them arguing every night we went to bed. Then one day, Mum decided she was going back to Del Bar where her family was from,". The sorrowful Caroline walked out to lean beside him, tearful at his sad story. "She and Viren said we had to choose. I chose him which I regret more than anything. Maybe I chose him because I was so heartbroken that my mother Lissa chose to leave us like that. She told Claudia to stay with us and then she left. We never saw her again. She never came to visit, nor did she even write a single letter,"

"Oh Soren…" Carol sympathised. "I'm so sorry for what you went through. No one deserves to be abandoned like that,"

"It's another reason why I was so horrible to you. You had a mother who loved you and never turned her back on you. My family is just so messed up. I have felt messed up for years and it took a toll on me." Soren faced her and held her shoulders. "Do not let it do the same to you. You know in your heart Raylan loves you and he is thinking of you all the time. And one day you will see him again and feel that same happiness. But you can't do that by moping around in this room. You've got everyone else here. Your siblings, your aunt, your companions…you'll always have them to hold on to. All I ask is you reconsider coming to the Academy. Magic is who you are. It's what you've always wanted. And maybe, in a way, learning more about it can help you in the future,".

Soren left her bedroom and Carol stared out into the open air, her reconciled friend's words weighing heavily on her shoulders.

Galadriel guided Raylan to the forests near the Borders. As she followed him, he saw himself and Caroline having fun in the forest with Zym and Felix, his girlfriend gagging to the smell of the fart flowers and then the stench of Zym after he jumped around in them. Then, as they passed by a giant seed pod rotting away on the grass, he saw himself on top of her, their lips very close… he stopped walking. He just stared at that seed pod, his heart thumping painfully. The elf queen's fingers touched his shoulder. "You miss her,"

He sniffled. "More than you know,"

"And yet you left her. To protect her," she smiled. "Love truly makes you do crazy and reckless things,"

"I can't go back to her. As much as I want to more than anything. But I cannot hurt her as long as I carry this darkness inside me,".

They continued further on till they came to a part of the forest Raylan had never seen before. "What is this place?". He raised his head and saw a towering wall of white bricks.

"This is a sacred garden home to species of floral life from worlds and lands beyond your reach,"

"How do you know of it?"

"Because I grew it with the help of a being from your world who has travelled to these distant lands,"

"Who was it?"

"A Startouch elf named Shedapira. And I was the only one she told of this sacred place. Now I am revealing it to you in the hopes we will find an antidote for your bite". She raised her hand and closed her eyes, the Moonshadow elf watching intently, his mind already flourishing with many questions. "Mellon,".

Raylan jumped to the sound of rocks rumbling. He raised his head and saw the wall bricks shuffling inside and outwards. A path was set ahead of them. "What was that word?"

"In my culture, we speak our language. What I spoke was the elven word for friend,"

"You sounded a bit like 'melon'. Like the fruit,"

Galadriel sniggered. "That did nearly sound like that,"

"In this land, we learn draconic language and we use it to perform our spells,"

"I know. Shedapira told me so. Now we must make our way in before any elf comes by and sees this," Galadriel led the elf through the path. "She wanted knowledge of other worlds to be hidden from her people,"

The bricks shuffled back into place beside them. "Why?" Raylan asked.

"All she told me was her people committed a horrible act of cruelty to her loved ones. She told me that her people committed a horrible act of cruelty to her loved ones. They did it because she wanted to share the knowledge of magic with humans who were deemed lesser by your kind and dragon kind years ago.

Raylan was speechless for a moment. "I never thought elves and dragons treated humans like that. They always taught me to believe that humans were nothing but cruel and uncaring, thinking they could do whatever they wanted to creatures for dark magic. But it was all because they had nothing. They were always lesser in the eyes of people. They're just as much to blame for the war as humans are,"

"That is long past," Galadriel said. "Now we must focus on the present,".

Neither Amaya, Ezran, Willow nor Caldor had eaten their dinner yet.

They wanted to wait again for Carol, but she didn't seem to come in. Her fox and Adoraburrs whined sorrowfully. "I'm sure Soren did his best," the king said. "Let's eat. We've got a big day tomorrow,". Just as he forked a piece of meat and raised it to his lips, the doors opened and Felix yipped for joy.

He bounded over to Caroline and leapt into her arms, licking her face. "Okay, Felix. Okay,"

"Carol…" Willow breathed.

"I hope I'm not late for dinner," she walked over to her seat.

"No, you're just on time," Ezran said. "Dig in,". Once Carol took her seat, they instantly dined and it warmed their hearts that a good meal seemed to brighten her spirits. After the servants came to take the plates away, Carol decided to make an announcement.

"I'm going to go to the Sky Academy,"

Her family and Caldor clapped. "How wonderful," the vizier praised.

"Are you sure you're ready to go to school?" Ezran asked out of concern.

Carol nodded. "It's the right thing," she wiped her eyes. "It will be painful being in Xadia. And I know it's far away guys but I'll come and visit as soon as I can,"

"Go out there. See Xadia," Willow encouraged. "Travel and learn all the magic you want."

"And we'll be waiting," Ezran promised. "We've all got our parts to play now that our quest is over. And your part is to become who you were born to be. A Mage,"

Your parents would be so proud of you. Amaya cried a little, so her eldest niece gave her a warm hug to cheer her up.

Walking past some willow trees, the two elves from two different worlds saw fields of flowers all full of herbs and plants the young teen had never seen before. "Incredible. A secret garden. How did Shedapira keep all of this secret?"

"She is an elf of many mysteries. It has been centuries since I last saw her,"

"You have no idea of where she is,"

"No. I do not. In every world she went to, she was hunted by her people for wanting to share her knowledge with others. But on our last meeting, she told me there would come a time when I would have to come here to her world to find an elf in need of help,"

"Me. I don't know why I never told anyone else before. I guess I'm just afraid of being weak,"

"There is nothing wrong with feeling weak when you suffer a wound. You are only weak if you choose to hide it,"

"This is the Athelas plant. Commonly known as Kingswood. It has been used over the ages to help with injuries and poisons,"

"So, this can cure my bite?"

Galadriel gave no smile. "Not exactly. All it can do is help slow the poison in your bloodstream?"

"No, there has to be a proper cure in this grove. Shedapira must have discovered something. Please Lady Galadriel. There has to be a way,"

"The only way you can permanently cure the poison in your body is by drinking the blood and venom of a Star Archdragon."

"And where can I find a Star Archdragon?"

"That I cannot answer. Star Archdragon can only be found in the heavens. And only Shedapira knew how to summon one in a time of great need. I truly am sorry Raylan. I have done my best to help you in all that I can," Galadriel picked up a piece of the powerful healing herb and led him to a small pond. In a small wooden bowl, she smashed the herbs into an ointment with other powerful healing plants. "Are you ready? This will sting,"

Raylan nodded. Her fingers touched his wound and he winced, baring his teeth as the poison in his neck was neutralised by the plants.

"It should last you for a few weeks at most. It will contain the poison in your neck for the time being. You must keep applying this as much as you can,"

"Thank you,"

"I'm sorry that I couldn't provide a permanent cure. I must take my leave now and return to my people,"

"I'll never forget your kindness, my lady,"

"Heed my warning Raylan. Dark times are coming ahead in your world and you must be prepared for them. You need to return to your beloved,"

"You know I can't. As long as our enemies are out there she will be in grave danger. I have to protect her from them. And myself. Which is why I need to find a way to summon this archdragon you told me of,"

"Then your path is decided. But Raylan, you can't fight darkness on your own. In numbers, you are stronger together. I must give you one last thing," she presented to him a phial of the purest glass with water that glowed like stars. "I give you the Light of Earendil, our most beloved star. May it be a light for you in dark places where all other lights go out,"

Raylan held it tenderly. "Thank you,"

Galadriel smiled one last time. She then pressed her lips to his head. She drew back. Her eyes closed. Light enveloped her. And flash! She was gone.

Willow and Pyrrah had offered to give Carol a flight to Xadia and she gladly accepted. Ezran was so tempted to come but with all that was happening in the Five Kingdoms, he was needed urgently. Luckily he could count on Caldor to help him. Amaya helped Caroline carry her two large bags and knapsack and they were strapped to the dragon's saddle. "That's everything,"

I hope you have fun. Amaya signed. Your parents would be so proud of you. And your dad.

"You mean my dad…dad?"

Amaya nodded before embracing her. Carol hugged Gren too and then Caldor. "Thank you, Caldor for teaching me so much about magic. Now I'll be taking that knowledge with me to school,"

"You take careful of yourself," he prayed.

"I know you'll do Katolis proud," Ezran hugged her and Bait licked her face. "Please be safe,"

"You know I will Ezran. And don't worry, I'll be back before you know it,". She kissed his cheek and then faced Soren.

"I wanted to say thank you for that pep talk,"

"It was nothing really,"

"No. It wasn't nothing. It was just what I needed to hear. Thank you,"

"It was the least I could do,"

"Soren, I truly am sorry about how awful your childhood was. But that part of your life is over. We're your family now and we take care of each other."

Her former nemesis, now a close friend, found himself crying. "That's so sweet of you to say. Can I?". she nodded, and he eagerly pulled her into his arms, saying, "Come here."

"Okay, Soren. I need to breathe," she coughed.

"Oh sorry," he apologised, letting go of her. "I'm touched by your kindness even though I don't deserve it,"

Carol giggled but then…"You know. There is one thing I would like to ask of you."

"Anything,"

It had been a few days since Raylan bid farewell to the elf queen who had found a temporary solution to his poisonous bite. He packed a large supply of the plants he needed to suppress the poison until he could find a way to summon the only creature who could neutralise it forever. He ensured the garden remained hidden when he left but as he made his way further into Xadia, he encountered more problems. Moonshadow elves were stalking the forests searching for him, his adoptive father and beloved.

He chose to take the mountain roads, praying they wouldn't dare think to track him up there. Still, he needed to lower his guard. The sun rose the next day and taking a risk, he went to a grove in the tall trees below. To his luck, no elves were close by. He saw berries and had just picked a bunch when he heard the cries of an animal, a baby. He tiptoed carefully through the bushes and pulled back.

On the forest floor was an injured primate who resembled a six-legged, ring-tailed lemur of white and black. One of its fluffy ears had sustained an injury, and its chest had been badly grazed.

"You're a Cuddlemonkey. Oh, you poor little thing," Raylan came closer. But the monkey's purple eyes met his, and it screeched. "Don't be afraid I won't hurt you,". The monkey tried to stand up and fight, but it collapsed and he caught it. "Easy boy,". An angry squeak corrected his guess. "It's alright girl. I'm going to take care of you,". The Cuddlemonkey saw his kind eyes and realised she was safe in his arms as he carried her away.

In a round room with sky symbol etches marking the stone walls, Ibis waited patiently with seven other students. He was about to begin when he heard a loud flapping of wings outside the entrance. And in the doorway appeared…

"Hi," Carol awkwardly waved. "I'm not late for class am I?"

All Ibis did was smile and show her to a seat. "It is so wonderful to have you in class today Caroline,"

"I'm looking to learning everything from you," she smiled.

"Why is a human learning magic when humans can't do magic?" a tall Skywing bully whined.

"Hey! Watch your tongue blabbermouth!" shouted a voice. At the entrance, Soren was eying him very tensely, Felix beside him growling whilst radiating fire from his tail. "She is not just some human. She is the princess of Katolis and the first human in centuries to do magic. So, you'd better start treating her with some respect,"

Once Ibis sat Caroline down on a rock, he walked to the chalkboard and asked the first question: "What is the spell for creating ice?"

Instantly Carol's hand flew up and he nodded at her. "Aspiro Frigis!" she answered correctly. The other students' mouths dropped. The bully was stunned. Soren, Ibis and Felix smiled.

Raylan walked back to his campsite, keeping the little Cuddlemonkey wrapped up warmly in his arms. "You see, you've nothing to be afraid of,". He fed the baby primate berries and then ensured she was well-hydrated with water; she burped. He laughed. "You have a funny burp,". Using some stolen bandages, he wrapped up her wounded ear and chest. "There. Should be better in a few days,"

Thank you. The monkey hugged him tightly and he hugged her back.

"Once you're all well I can take you back to your family?" the moment he said that the monkey let out a heartbroken whimper. "You don't have a family?"

No. The monkey's purple eyes leaked out tears.

"I know how you feel. I lost my parents too. And I miss them so much," he touched his mother's pendant. He felt furry fingers touching him and he looked into a bright iris that glowed like star magic. "Why don't you stay with me? I'll take care of you and we can look after each other,"

Yes, please. Her four arms hugged his face and he cooed.

"Why don't I call you Stella? It means 'star' and you are a Startouch Cuddle monkey.

I love it. Stella climbed around her shoulders making him laugh as her paws tickled him.

"I'm so glad I found you, Stella. You've no idea how lonely it's been since leaving someone I love behind." he looked up at the half-moon. "I miss you, Carol. I just hope you miss me too. I will return to you. I promise,"

The class had finished for the day. Carol was so pleased she had instantly made some new Skywing friends. They were so impressed by her knowledge of magic and her accurate spell-casting that they instantly wanted to befriend her. They didn't care that she was a human at all. Only that she was a friend to elves and dragons.

"So, you actually jumped off the Spire and that was the second time you activated your wings?" a Skywing elf named Aira asked.

"Yes. And believe me. It was more terrifying than the first time,"

"Incredible," another one named Zeu complimented.

"I know right," Soren clapped. As Carol's protective companion, he was allowed to chat with the group. "She can do so many cool things. I bet she was so cool during the battle scenes,"

"Oh bravo. Bravo," mocked a cruel voice. The bully from before was named Haneul. "She may do magic but she's just a human. She's only lucky she can do these things,"

"Watch your mouth Mr," Soren warned.

"Or what you're gonna stab me? You're useless with that blade. You're lesser without magic. And so is that…"

Soren grabbed his collar and pinned him to the wall. "Listen up here you pompous pea-brain. You think just because you're an elf, you can treat my friend that way? Well guess what you can't,"

"That is correct," Caelus appeared with Ibis who frowned at one of his prized students. "You can let him go now, Soren,"

Soren released Haneul and the captain of the Sky patrol gave over and grabbed him by the collar. "We're going to have a conversation young man. I apologise Carol and Soren. Unreservedly,"

"Don't apologise, sir," Soren said.

"By the way Caroline…" Ibis spoke up. "The queen has said that you, Soren and Felix may stay at the Spire during your nights whilst you study here,"

"Brilliant," she cheered. "Thank you Ibis,"

"I am very proud of your hard work," the tutor said proudly. Once everyone's bags were backed, they flew back home whilst Carol, Soren and Felix made their way to the Spire with Caelus, his mount and Ibis. Haneul was sent back home and suspended from the academy for a few days so his behaviour was straightened. The Dragon Queen received them happily and Zym flew into Carol's arms giving her multiple licks before entering a wrestling game with Felix.

"It is so good to have you back," Zubeia said. "I am so sorry to hear about your elf friend. Your brother the king informed me and asked that I send out elves and dragons to find him,"

"Thank you, Your Majesty," Carol bowed humbly.

"Now, Ibis will show you and Soren your rooms,"

On his balcony, Ezran stared out at the setting sun patiently with Bait in his arms. Then he saw the red dragon flying towards him and down her tail slid the brave Willow onto a railing. "Safe journey?"

"Absolutely. Loved the flight,"

"Thank you Pyrrah," Ezran stroked her snout and licked his face.

Thank you for letting me stay here.

"You're part of our family now," Ez smiled. "Dad would have loved you,"

Pyrrah flew down towards her stable and went inside to sleep for the night. "I'm glad Carol's doing this," Willow leaned against her brother. "You know, Soren suggested this really cool idea for when she returns,"

He smiled. "I'm all ears,"

Sitting at the top of the Spire, Caroline stared at the moon for the first time in days. It was a half-moon. Felix was in her arms. Zym was around her shoulders. The Adoraburrs were on her head. She sighed, feeling the agony growing in her heart again. "I miss you Raylan. More than you'll ever know. I hope wherever you are, you are safe and sound,"

Sitting on a clifftop with Stella cuddled against his chest, Raylan stared up at the moon too. "I miss you, Caroline. I love you more than I can express. I hope one day you can find it in your heart to forgive me for leaving you. But I did it to protect you,"

"If you were here now, I'd be telling you I've started magic class today. I've made some lovely friends. And a bully. But Soren took care of him,"

"If you were here now, I'd be telling you I met a beautiful Elven queen from another world. Not that she's more beautiful than you. She helped me find a salve for my wound and told me how to cure it permanently. But it requires finding a way to summon an Arch-dragon. I cannot bear to be near you as long as I'm infected. I have to protect you from myself. You will see me again. I will return to you. I'm not leaving you forever,"

"No one will ever replace you in my heart. I'll find you someday. And we'll be together again," Carol couldn't stop herself crying. Looking at the moon as the letter requested was what she needed to feel this close to Raylan, even from so far away. Her companions hugged her, and she held them tightly, wanting to feel this close for comfort and need,"

From a distance, a spectral figure of a black-capped ride with a blood-red dragon eyed the Spire from another mountain.

"Caroline,". The dragon rider stroked his dragon's head. "We must do everything we can to protect her, Thorn,"

"We cannot fail Aseerais,"

And that's episode two of Season 4 done. I hope you all enjoyed it. And thank to those who recommended these other characters not from Dragon Prince. Once again I don't own them. Credit goes to their creators. So only an Archdragon can help Raylan. At least Galadriel helped him find the herbs to help it for the time being. And Soren and Caroline are becoming close friends again. Thank you to those sending more ideas and reviews. Keep up the good work and see you all soon. Also forgot to mention I made a few little alterations to chapter 2.
