Prologue: A Demon Lord's Ambition

"The world of Gamindustri... divided into four nations, ruled by their respective goddesses... to the west, Planeptune, ruled by the goddess Purple Heart... to the north, Lowee, ruled by the goddess White Heart... to the south, Leanbox, ruled by the goddess Green Heart... and Lastation, ruled by the goddess Black Heart." The woman who spoke these words smirked as she looked out a hotel window over the cityscape, holding a glass of sparkling water in one hand. Taking a sip, she continued, "And one day, all these nations will submit to me- Demon Lord Lilithmon."

At first glance, she had the appearance of a black-haired geisha, albeit one with a black corset that showed a generous amount of cleavage from her ample bosom. However, her left hand was actually a golden claw, a pair of matching horns sticking up from her head, two pairs of batlike wings on her back and a bat-shaped mark on her forehead, not to mention her toenails were pointed like talons, giving the (accurate) impression of someone who was as deadly as she was beautiful. "And here in Lastation, is where I shall begin my conquest anew..."

"My lady, if I may ask... why here?" The woman turned, her gaze falling upon a young, handsome man with messy white hair, dressed in a white robe and baggy black pants with matching shoes, holding a magic staff in one hand. "Is this not where your previous plan failed, when your, ah, previous subordinate went rogue?"

"True. And I'm guessing you're eager for revenge against the Planeptune Guild? All in due time, my dear Merlin," Lilithmon assured him, taking a sip from her glass. "There is a method to my madness, however."

"And that would be...?"

"Consider this. I originally came here from the Netherworld with my old master. And yet, another Digimon has apparently been living in this very nation for some time... Sistermon Ciel, who happens to look just human enough to pass."

"I'm not following," Merlin shook his head.

"Must I spell everything out for you? It's quite simple," Lilithmon lectured as if speaking to a small child. "If I came here from Leanbox via the Netherworld... then where, pray tell, did Sistermon Ciel come from? Certainly not the same way I came..."

"Oh!" Merlin gasped as it finally clicked. "So you're thinking of trying to find the portal or whatever this Sistermon used..."

"Exactly. And I've just learned a few more Digimon have arrived- Ciel's sisters, Sistermon Noir and Sistermon Blanc. No relation to the goddesses here, of course. Which means whatever portal Ciel used wasn't just a one-off... and if we can find said portal, we may be able to utilize it to recruit more Digimon for our cause!"

"I see... but what if these other Digimon decide not to cooperate, like your previous subordinate?"

"Oh, I think I could persuade them that defying me would be a very bad idea," Lilithmon chuckled, glowing with a sinister aura as if to emphasize the point. "But we're getting ahead of ourselves. First we must find the portal... and that's where you come in, my dear Merlin. After all, your previous schemes have been confined to Planeptune, so it's unlikely anyone will recognize you here. I would suggest starting where the other Sistermons got in a fight with the CPU Candidate, and expanding your search from there..."

"But what if I am unable to locate the portal?" Merlin asked.

At this, Lilithmon's smirk segued to a frown, slowly marching right up to the mage, her claw lifting up to grip his shoulder, the thumb digging into his neck. "My dear Merlin..." she began, curling her thumb inward, just enough to pierce his skin and draw blood, eliciting a gasp of pain. "...that is NOT an option."

Merlin swallowed hard, stepping backward and away from the succubus. "Then... I shall commence my search forthwith. By your leave." With a quick bow, he turned on his heel and left.

Lilithmon just smirked as she licked the blood off her claw... grimacing as she found the taste unpleasant, drinking down the rest of her sparkling water to cleanse her palate. "Well, at least he understands his place in the pecking order... unlike that Diaboromon." Glancing over at a small stasis chamber, she continued, "And my new pet will also have absolute loyalty to me, when it is ready..."

Though the glass of the stasis chamber was fogged up, a rough arachnid-like shape could be seen within...

*And so, in the streets of Lastation City...*

"C-c-cold...!" cried a lowlife as he collapsed, partially frozen, several of his fellow thugs in similar condition.

"Perhaps next time you won't think me such an easy mark, will you, gentlemen?" Merlin said with disdain, brushing off his robes with one hand. "Now, if you will excuse me." He turned and went on his way, giving them no further thought. (This is getting frustrating... it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but you don't even know what the needle even looks like...) He turned and went down a nondescript alleyway, seeing nothing but a few trashcans. "Honestly, how does that Demon Lord expect me to-"

But then he saw it... something that looked like a shining crack, floating in midair. "Hello... what's this?" He approached cautiously, but there was no reaction. "Could this be it, I wonder...?" Channeling a little magic power into his staff, he extended it toward the crack- and immediately it seemed to burst open, a sudden wind knocking him on his butt! The crack was now a rough hole filled with light... and Merlin could hear something from beyond... (It sounds like... a race car?) The sound grew louder, Merlin instinctively rolling to one side-

And sure enough, a vehicle of some sort burst out, it's driver howling with excitement as she hurled down the alley, before making a hard turn, tires screeching as she drove off into the night... the tear in reality promptly collapsed back into a crack soon after, then vanished entirely.

Merlin heaved a sigh of relief at having avoided becoming roadkill, standing back to his feet... then realization dawned. (Wait, was that...?!) After a moment's consideration, he pulled out a cell phone and dialed... "My lady, I believe I may have found what you were looking for..."

"Have you now? Excellent!" came the Demon Lord's voice.

"Yes, but there is a complication of sorts..."

"What do you mean?" Lilithmon's tone turned dangerous. So the mage quickly explained what had transpired. "...I see. Very well, mark the location on your phone's map and then come back here. We shall simply observe for now; no point in tipping our hand too soon."

"As you will, my lady." With that, Merlin hung up, opening the Maps app and marking his current location, before quickly departing the area...
