The trip back to Eda's is spent focusing Kuruma's chakra into the base of your spine in hopes that it will reduce the swelling that you can just about feel forming there. The moment you get through the door you all but throw yourself onto the couch after Senna jumps out of your hanten. As you land face down on it your transformation finally dissipates in a small cloud of smoke, which honestly surprises you based on the tumble you had taken. For most shinobi that would have popped their transformations without much trouble, but you assume this is just another side effect of an overpowered jutsu.
Deeper in the house you can hear the telltale signs of cast iron being banged against something metal, but don't think much more about it as you hear King start to play with his new plushie Francois. You tiredly turn your head and watch as King uses various stuffies to map out, plan, and then battle against one another. On your back you can just faintly feel Senna make themself at home between your shoulder blades.
Eventually, Eda comes into the room holding two smallish containers. One looks like a stereotypical potion bottle while the other appears to be a small, roughly half the size of a Play-Doh can container. She makes her way over to you and tries to hand you the items in question. At first, you just stare blankly at them before giving her a deadpan look which she returns. Then you say, "Alright human here, what the hell is that?" Which makes her blink before she remembers that you are in fact, human. She quickly explains that the one in the potion bottle is a minor healing potion, usually to help with minor cuts and the like, while the stuff in the mini container is what you could consider a bruise balm, it's meant to soak into the damaged parts of the body and take away the pain lurking within it, combined the two 'potions' (or well potion and balm) will take care of both your aches, pains, whatever else has happened to your body while within the Conformatorium.
At first, you try to brush her off knowing you'll be fine in less than twenty-four hours, but Eda isn't having it. You then bring up as a human does she have any idea how your body would even react to these things but she's one step ahead of you and tells you she already figured that out years ago when she used to actually visit the Human Realm regularly when she was younger. You finally decide to cut your losses when you realize that she isn't letting this go anytime soon and you carefully sit up and take the offered items.
You bundle up the back of your hanten and shirt and awkwardly smear the balm around your back, which Senna helpfully points out when you miss a spot. You then rip the potion stopper out with your teeth before downing the potion like it was a shot. After you get just the faintest bit of an aftertaste you're entirely grateful that you have done so. After that, you hand Eda the containers back and lay back out on the couch as the potions do their thing.
You're not surprised when you end up dozing off on the couch. Between the day you just had, the potions working through your system, and the lack of decent sleep for the past couple of months a nap would probably do you some good. You end up napping until you can smell the scent of cooked flesh wafted through the air catching your attention. As you go to sit up you realize that you have not one but two figures curled between your shoulder blades.
You decide to enact the age-old cat proverb, if a cat(or in this case small furry creature(s)) sits upon you, you are obligated not to move until they do. You have no idea how long you've been napping but based on the slightly darker room you can guess at least an hour. You try to take a few more sniffs of the air, but you can only faintly scent meat that vaguely smells like chicken, which piques your interest slightly.
Eda eventually comes in to free you from your trapped existence and leads you and King into the kitchen as Senna settles in for another nap. To your surprise on the kitchen table is what you assume to be some sort of bird creature. When you first look at it you think chicken, mostly because the closer you get the more it smells like an actual human realm chicken. But the longer you look at it the more you start to realize that something isn't quite right here. For one you can just make out a tail, maybe a foot or so long, connected to its tailbone while there are what appear to be scales or the remains of scales near the feet. The very tip of the wing also has a spike but by this point, you figure anything that doesn't appear to have a weapon on their body is most likely hiding one and should be given a wide berth while dealing with them.
Besides the demonic chicken are a few more normal(i.e. human) items. Dinner rolls with what must be the demon realm equivalent of sesame seeds, a bowl of mashed potatoes(or what looks like it anyway), an assortment of roasted vegetables, and grilled mushrooms. You dish up plenty of the sides and only a small portion of the demonic chicken as Eda plates up her and King's food.
Behind you, you can hear the faint shuffling of movement before the fridge opens and closes. You eye Eda and find that she isn't paying any heed to whatever is making the noise so you try to stamp down the paranoia. Eventually, you find what is making the noise as they 'sit down' at the table. You look up and immediately lock eyes with the soulless black eyes of the door, which you think Eda called Hooty. In his beak is a large pitcher that you hesitantly take from him before he can drop it, which you think would end up being quite painful when you realize that the pitcher is most definitely made out of stained glass, rather than plastic or something similar.
You place the pitcher on the table as Eda hands you a mug that states, "Nice tits" and then has pictures of eight different birds, all species ending with the word tit. You almost burst out laughing but you manage to hold it in. You see that Eda is drinking out of a mug stating "30 and Flirty", while King has a cup that says "Easily distracted by Stuffies." With drinks in hand, a rather dark red liquid that resembles blood too much for your liking, King and Eda tuck into their meals, with King all but inhaling his portion. You tuck into the less alien-looking items first before picking at the chicken imposter before you. Surprisingly the bird does taste like chicken but has a bit of gameness similar to turkey and pheasants.
All the while as you eat, Hooty watches his eyes never blink, but considering how many times you have had to watch the fabled 'Sunset of Youth' of Might Guy and Rock Lee, his gaze does nothing more than raise the hairs on the back of your neck. From the living room, you can just faintly make out the sound of Senna dismissing themself back to The Den, home to all Kitsune Summons. You gather the dirty dishes letting Eda deal with the leftovers and get to work scrubbing away food particles and the like. You start to wonder what food items this realm could have and whether or not you'll be able to eat them.
An hour later you find yourself in a room that Eda has 'graciously' provided for you. Just looking around in here you can tell that this room was used for storage just based on the many towers of packed boxes of various sizes. A few of the towers are stacked in such a way that if you were to breathe on them wrong they would topple over. Thankfully you don't have to worry about such things. Within ten minutes, two clones, and one sealing scroll the room is nearly spotless, you eye a few off-color stains and know you'll probably have a difficult time defeating them.
Thankfully your backpack contains most of your essentials, most having been sealed away awaiting use. From the bag you bring out your toiletries, your sleeping bag plus an extra blanket, the only photo of your birth parents, and enough supplies to make a noise maker to attach to the window because just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that things are out to get you especially here and that window right there is the most obvious spot for a break-in for this room. Within a few minutes, you manage to rig up a simple noise maker using an old tin can and some ninja wire.
With defenses in place, you roll out your sleeping bag so that it sits against the far wall where you would need to open the door fully just to see where you are. With a quick stretch of your fingers and a snap of your knuckles, you make a shallow cut along the side of your right thumb using your sharper-than-average canine and fly through the seals needed for the summoning jutsu before lightly tapping the floor. 'Exploding' from the floor is the usual cloud of summoning smoke before the form of your summon appears. Yoru is a 'juvenile' black leopard/panther, his name meaning night, and your usual summon for night watches. Though you have others around you for the first time in months, you did not reach today by becoming complacent with your safety. You are giving Eda, and therefore King and Hooty, the chance to prove themselves with Yoru being your hidden dagger so to speak.
You quietly explain the situation to the teenage cat, and make a mental note to summon one of your rodent summons to spread the word there as well. Yoru might be considered a teenager to the rest of The Pride, but in terms of years, he is older than you at twenty-three. Aging is quite strange among the summonings; some age quicker than their non-summoning counterparts, while others age at a slower rate like Yoru. Thankfully like most cats, (summons, domestic, and wild) Yoru is quite used to waiting in wait for something to happen around the two of you and is willing to be overwatch while you try to sleep. He quickly scales one of the walls beside the door to the room and settles down on one of the shelves surrounding it.
You don't bother trying to change for the night, between your still healing spine, though between Kuruma and Eda's potion, you don't think the pain will last into the night. You're just about to settle down on your sleeping bag when a small knock echoes through the door before it's lightly pushed open to reveal King holding Francois. You lightly speak to the small demon while waving off Yoru's attempts to get into a pouncing position. He stares at you with big purple-pink and yellow eyes that you immediately have a hard time looking away from. He clears his throat slightly before stating, "Your sleep cocoon looks fluffy."
You sigh slightly before patting the bottom edge of your bed, which leads him to make himself at home on your sleeping bag. You send Yoru a good-natured eye roll before slipping into the bag. Falling asleep has never been the easiest thing for you to do, in this life or the last, but between the soft snores coming from King and the knowledge that Yoru is keeping watch you fall into a fickle sleep after an hour of just staring up at the ceiling. Your dreams are plagued with memories and nightmares of times long since passed. In one you're forced to watch your parents die when you are but hours old at that point, while in another you have to watch your ex-teammate try to kill you with a fist full of lightning.
You awaken the following morning just as the sun crests the horizon. Staring blankly you try to pull your emotions back inside. An unheeded shudder goes through your body, and you wonder how this new day will go.
