(AN: Quick Note on AO3 I could use strike-through text but that isn't a thing here so instead it will be like this ex: (strikethrough))
Raine Whispers could without a fraction of a doubt say that overseeing the Bard Coven Booth during the annual Covention was one if not the worst thing they could imagine. The constant neverending stream of Bard students and children looking for their possible future coven made them want to rip their hair out. At least this year they had their three students (children) suffering beside them. Derwin and Katya had been through this before, but this year was Amber's first Covention working beside them.
This would be their last Covention as the Deputy Coven Head, in less than two months they would be taking over for Scooter Crane, and after that, they hope they can start making a real difference for the wild witches (For Eda). But first, they have to survive this Titandamned Covention. It isn't until an hour before the Emperor's Coven Exhibit that someone unusual comes over.
A youngish witchling with an unusual demonling perched atop of their shoulder approaches the booth with a slight look of confusion on their faces. The moment Katya gets a good look at the pair she almost squeals before jerking toward them, a large grin on her face. The witchling's face briefly looks confused before a look of realization crosses it. Their hand rises in a brief wave as the three greet one another. Raine can't help but look over at Dewin and Amber and finds that they aren't the only one confused here.
With a small smirk, the witchling speaks in a low-soft feminine tone, "Nice to see you out of that prison," their (her?) eyes drift over to the other three surrounding Katya, "These ones decent or should I...?" Katya lets out a soft chuckle before she shakes her head, "Nah, I trust Teach not to rat me out, besides Amber and Derwin are worse than I am." The more Raine listens to her voice the more certain that she has a slight accent they've never heard before.
The Witchling looks over the pamphlets scattered over the table as she and Katya converse about different instruments. Apparently, the witchling had played one when she was young, but it was unfortunately broken a few years back. The instrument in question was a string one which caught Raine's attention, being primarily a Viola player, that did not mean they couldn't play other string instruments as well, they also taught their BATTs everything about their own instruments (not to mention Eda).
When the Witchling turns her attention toward Raine, the conversation turns to reputable shops around Bonesborough for not only string but percussion ones as well. When they ask about the percussion the witchling shrugs her shoulders stating, "I love my string instruments, but percussion is where I really shine through. Besides that, I want to teach my little brother here how to play an instrument, and I don't really see him learning anything if it's not percussive, at least not at first that is." Here she gains a small smirk, "Not to mention driving Mom up the wall will be a fun pass time... as long as Hooty doesn't make an appearance," both she and the small demonling(her brother?) shiver as if remembering something truly horrifying.
As Raine continues to speak with her they can't help but feel as if they have seen this witchling before. From the hair spilling out from her hood, they know that she has red hair (Clawthrone Red). Her eyes are a familiar green with the slightest hint of gold flecks in them that almost seem to glow with her emotions. They have to tear their eyes away from her before it starts to feel creepy but they can't help but think (Is this what mine and Eda's kids would look like?) but they shake that away before it ruins their mood.
Eventually, the witchling sighed as she took a glance at her wrist before raising to her full height, obviously still having some growing to do before reaching her full height with the Demonling still attached. Movement from her chest catches their and the rest of the BATTs' attention only for their eyes to widen at the sight of a fox head popping their head out from her jacket. She casually scratches their head as Raine almost starts to hyperventilate, with red hair, green and gold eyes, and a fox palisman. This can't be real, could it?
Katya leans across the booth and scratches the young fox between the ears just like she would Fiddlesticks and they melt just like she does. "Nice to see this little one again. You know when I first saw you I thought you were too young to have a palisman but you sure proved me wrong. If you don't mind me asking what's their name?"
"It's fine, I know I appear slightly younger than I should, but I'm nearly sixteen, is that really young to receive a palisman? Anyway, their name is Senna, they've only been with me for the last month but they are honestly someone I would protect with my life... while we're on the subject of names I don't think we ever exchanged our own."
Katya thinks about it for a moment before she realizes the witchling speaks the truth, "I guess that's true, following the breakout I don't think we had time before you flew off with the Owl Lady. My name is Katya, this is Amber and Derwin, and our teacher is Raine Whispers" Raine's breathing hitches as they desperately try not to hyperventilate, they can feel Fiddlesticks viola form almost buzz in their hand trying to placate them before they faint.
"Fair enough Katya, my name is Samantha Clawthorne, but please call me Sam. And this is my little brother King. I wish I could stick around longer but my mother is probably bouncing off the walls just being in the building. I doubt she'll last too much longer before something chaotic happens around here. I hope we get to speak again soon. Ja Ne" and with a quick wave of her hand the newest Clawthornes walks away from the booth, (away from her unknowing Parent) and quickly blends in with the rest of the Coventioners.
Raine franticly gropes for a chair and all but collapses into it when Derwin helps by pushing one behind them. They can hear their students trying to ask them questions but all Raine can do is gaze out beyond the booth, despairingly looking for (their) Eda's daughter.
