Kyori hummed along to one of her favorite songs while stirring a large, appropriate pot of stew. It was now the start of September and the days felt bland and colder reminding her of herself.
Ever since the rumors started, the burgundy haired Shimura had placed a lot of effort in managing her interactions with Shisui; instead of entertaining him or her own amusement, she kept things short and cordial between them. And she thought to keep things that way, whether the rumors die down or not. And while Shisui was in the same boat as her, Kyori ended up doing some hurtful as if it would assuage the slander.
At the sound of the timer buzzing, the teen slipped on her thick oven mittens. Kyori lowered herself for the extraction of her fudge cake and sneered in the face of the blaring heat while breaking a sweat.
'They better like it… I hope they do.' she thought, her lips stretching into a grin at the sight of her baby brother peering through the curtains.
Tonight was very important to Sai, which also made it important to her. And Kyori did her best to convey that; she made sure to be meticulous while preparing for this night despite how fatigued she was from dancing all afternoon. Unfortunately, Shin couldn't be here to support Sai and do the same as he had his own issues to recover from. They all did.
"Don't sweat it Sai, they'll be here s- "she was abruptly interrupted by the callous rapping that had her brother skipping over to the front door. "The hell? Don't this kid know that there's a door bell?"
"That must be Naruto. He's probably too short to reach it," the pale boy announced with a smirk in his tone.
With a face as deadpanned as Sai's, it was typically hard to read his emotions on the surface level. But after being together since he was a defenseless baby, she was able to read him for the most part and Kyori hadn't miss the excitement gleaming in his beautiful pools of obsidian.
"Hey Sai, open up already! It's freezing out here!" the obnoxious voice called out, adding onto the persistent knocking. Still, Sai stood with his hand on the knob. "Hey! I know you can hear me… can you?!"
"Damn he's loud," Kyori mumbled, occupying herself with drizzling the creamy icing in zig-zags before making side dishes to accompany the food.
One by one, a string of tweens entered their home and Kyori couldn't help but blanch at the total of boys attending Sai's sleep over. Sure she knew her baby brother was kind, and strangely hilarious, but she wasn't expecting more than a handful of boys.
'Great… and I'm responsible for all eight of them. Sai too.' Her thoughts were suspended at the curt knocking on the door. "Make that number nine… ten," She huffed and trudged over to the door.
But before she could open it, Sai and the rambunctious blond, Naruto skidded in the direction of the door, almost knocking her on her ass.
"Naruto-chan!" Kyori whined with an admonishing glare. The blond bashfully rubbed the back of his nap, a blush crept upon his tan skin.
"Sorry, Kyo nee-san it's just that Sasuke's finally here!" He flashed a wide smile and a nervous chortle escaped him.
Why were they so damn cute?! Maybe it was her maternal instincts that carried her into a forgiving mood. That and his bubbly mannerisms kind of reminded her of Shi-
No.
Now was not the time to harp on her acquaintanceship with the cheeky Uchiha, which ended swiftly. He was the enemy, whether she believed so or not; her father wouldn't approve and she had no intentions of violating any more of his rules. But the way things ended… she wish she could've gone about it differently.
Walking into class, Kyori was not even remotely surprised to see the beaming Uchiha sitting at their shared desk. Shisui's eyes seemed to brighten when they landed on her along with his smile.
'He's like a puppy... without the tail and all.' She almost snorted at the thought but settled for her typical soft scowl.
"Good morning Kyori-san," he greeted as she took slow steps towards their desk.
But as she had grown closer, his smile deteriorated while facing her harden eyes and his brows furrowed gently.
"Hey, what's with the long face?" he asked delicately, it sounded like he actually cared and that made her feel even worse than she already had.
"Morning." Kyori let out a long sigh once she sat beside him.
The kinky haired girl remained quiet and went as far as to avoid his concerned dark eyes. 'I don't want to hurt his feelings…'
"You didn't answer my question." He pointed out, growing more concerned when she crossed her arms over her chest. "Why?"
"Maybe it's none of your business, ever thought of that?" she grumbled, leaning into her seat. "Anyways I hadn't answered because I didn't want to."
The Uchiha almost recoiled at the stony response, and his dark eyes observed her carefully while Kyori's attention remained on the white board as she copied the agenda.
"Is there something bothering you? Did I do something wrong?" Shisui prodded and in response to his questions, Kyori couldn't help but to stiffen in her seat.
'No, I just don't want any trouble,' she kept to herself, but continued to ignore the perplexed Uchiha. She was going to purposefully hurt his feelings and she didn't want to…
"Is it the rumors? Because it's pretty annoying. I'll ask people to stop."
"It's..." It wasn't that. Kyori gripped her pen, strangling it as she swiftly mustered out, "Just leave it alone."
However, she did a terrible job of convincing Shisui. Especially, when Kinoto walked into the classroom, and they held a somber gaze.
"Kyori-san, we're friends you can tell me." Shisui tried once more and the Shimura gave him cold glare.
"Look, I don't need your friendship, your help or you throwing your dumbass cheesy lines at me. You're an Uchiha and I'm a Shimura, and it's just better if you'd follow your ancestors' example and keep away from me."
Ashamed, Kyori frowned at the recollection; she was absolutely regretting the cold front she dished out to Shisui. She felt that there was a more eloquent way to go about things, but it had to be done or there would be unnecessary conflict that would involve him or his family. And she didn't want her father to threaten or harm them in any way.
Kyori knew of the long, violent history between the Shimura and Uchiha because her father never allowed her to forget; it was where is Shimura pride came from if she was being honest. He'd tell her how it led to half of their population being slaughtered back when Sarutobi the first was in power and Konoha was a mere village. But as a child she was morbidly interested in how the hate for the Uchiha translated down the line, starting with Tobirama the first and then being adopted by the Shimura.
The point is, Shisui doesn't deserve to suffer because her father would be ultimately offended of a little harmless flirting and him trying to get to know her as a person. It was wrong in so many ways. A sigh escaped her lips as she leaned against the coat rack, watching the two boys welcoming their raven-haired friend.
"Sasuke-teme what took you so long!?" Naruto mirrored the boy's scowl.
"Yeah, Duck-butt. Why are you late?" Sai's inquiry was paired with a taunting glint in his dark eyes. "Were you too busy exchanging numbers with Ugly?"
"Hey! Sakura-chan's not ugly!" Naruto scowled.
"In her wildest dreams, Aho." The Uchiha finally spoke, looking aloof and annoyed. "And you can thank my cousin Dobe."
Kyori grinned, observing the chaotic dynamic the group. Until she heard a mature, playful tone that hadn't belong to the prepubescent boys. And it was awfully familiar.
"Sasuke, wait! I'm going to … miss you."
"You…?"
Shisui's eyes focused on her as he was sure his eyes were fooling him. But they weren't and he had known once the burgundy haired girl raised her brow incredulously.
"…Kyori-san?" He mumbled in disbelief then repeated her name, using a soft affronted tone.
Kyori scoffed, pairing it with an eye roll as she feigned annoyance at him being at her door step. But in truth, it bothered her to witness how dismayed he was to see her even that tone he used kind of pissed her off.
"I'm beginning to think Stalker boy truly suits you."
"Yeah and Ice queen is too much of an understatement for you." He shot back.
"What the hell are you doing here anyways?" She asked while withholding her front.
"I was dropping my cousin off but it's clear that we're not welcomed here." Shisui frowned while his accusing obsidian gaze bore into Kyori's culpable brown orbs. "We're Uchiha's, which means our existence is a complete nuisance to you and your family, right?"
Wow. Surprisingly, his short amount of words delivered a relentless twinge in her chest and she could hardly blame him. Shisui had a point, and he made it very clear that her words affected him too. But she never expected him to be so… crude and scary; it was well deserved since she was the one to provoke him but…
'That hurts.'
The three younger boys had already traded their playful jabbing antics to inspect the situation. Their large innocent eyes were gleaming with speculations, they were practically muted while watching the heated stare down. Shisui towered over Kyori, and though he hardly expressed an ounce of anger he was winning.
Gulping thickly she uttered, "I never said that."
The burgundy haired girl challenged his glare with one of her own only for it to waver and drop to her frilly white slippers.
"I would never say something like that, so don't put words in my mouth."
"But isn't that what you meant? You don't have to worry about it though." Shisui chillingly leered at his cousin, practically daring the boy to oppose. "Sasuke, we're leaving."
"Shisui, you're overreacting. He can stay!"
"I don't think so. Itachi wouldn't feel comfortable with him being somewhere he isn't welcomed, either." The young Uchiha gave his friends an apologetic pat on the shoulders, frowning while they protested.
"You two idiots are acting like I won't see you both on Monday." Sasuke shook his head, hoping to hide his rosy cheeks from being startled by Shisui and thwarted by the thought of not being welcomed in his friend's home. "Just don't forget to tell me all about it, kay?"
"Aw c'mon Shisui nii-san! Let Sasuke stay!" Naruto pleaded, grumbling about Shisui being petty when the dark-haired teen was rendered unaffected.
"I'm sorry Naruto, maybe next time man?" Shisui have the blonde a sad smile, ruffling his hair. Even though he'd look like the bad guy, he had to make a point; he wouldn't bypass anymore hate thrown at his family.
"Sasuke will always be welcomed here. He has to be, we are best friends." Sai implored while both he and Naruto blocked their friend from exiting. "He can stay, can't he?"
Then he turned his eyes on his sister, and smiled at her. It was the same masked he always used to cover up the hurt and it had Kyori's eyes watering. But she couldn't cry, she had no right to anyways. This was solely her fault.
"Kyori?" Her baby brother asked, no pleaded and without a thought, Kyori tugged on Shisui's arm and was grateful that he, at least, allowed her to pull him up the stairs.
Pausing, she turned to the group of boys, "Go play or something alright? I'll see if we can come to an agreement."
Shisui kissed his teeth at that, but did not resist her guiding him towards a yellow door.
Shisui stepped inside, masking his surprise when she placed him onto the bean bag in the corner of the room. The Uchiha allowed his skillful eyes to wander while the girl lowered onto the flawless yellow polka doted rug.
There was a large trunk, filled to the brim with books that was adjacent to her desk and a queen sized, white canopy bed that matched her vanity set and two doors parallel to another; perhaps one led to her bathroom and the other was her closet? He had no clue, and while he expected her room to be spotless, he hadn't expected its brightness among other things. She had no electronics within her room beside the lamp on her desk and the ceiling fan. He thought it was rather eccentric.
Turning his eyes on her, he frowned in confusion and then he spoke, "Why did you bring me up here?"
"Because I wanted to talk you. In private." Kyori said while looking into his dark eyes, it was strange to see nothing in them.
Not even anger.
"I want to apologize for what I said to you last Friday. I didn't mean to be so crass."
"But you were." Shisui openly frowned, shaking his head in disappointment. He couldn't believe she would say such a thing and Shisui couldn't even fathom the possibility of his judgement failing him. "I thought you were better than that."
"But I am..."
"How am I supposed to believe that?" He questioned with wistful eyes, lowering his gaze onto the dotted rug before shrugging off his string of conscience. "I don't even know you so it was wrong for me to assume."
Kyori blinked rapidly as large droplets pooled in her eyes, it felt like his words were crushing her along with the sadness and the hurt she's caused when all she tried to do was avoid conflict. Now her baby brother was hurt and little Sasuke was hurt too… because of her.
"Sorry doesn't cut it when I knew it was wrong, b-but it wasn't my intention to hurt anyone."
Kyori swallowed thickly then casted her eyes downward as she recalled the hurt shining in her baby brother's eyes, along with the crestfallen frown in the young Uchiha's face. Her tears proceeded to fall as she took slow, deep breaths. God, she did hate crying and people seeing her cry was the worst.
"I just wanted…"
Shisui's frown softened and as he looked away, a tear rolled down her desolate face. It reminded him of their first day of senior year. Did she have to look so sullen…? He was not a fan of crying girls or being the reason a girl was crying. It made him soft all over and feel exponentially guiltier than he should. Like now.
"You don't have to cry… I just don't agree with how you addressed whatever the issue was but that's okay," he spoke softly with a lopsided grin on his face.
Kyori understood he wanted her to cheer up, but she had more to say. "Not it's not, I feel horrible about the whole thing but I was trying to avoid... I don't know." She shrugged, ferociously wiping the trickles blurring her vision. Her head was beginning to hurt
"What do mean you don't know? What were you trying to avoid anyways?" the boy asked, his brows softly furrowing when she shrugged.
"Well…" Kyori frowned lightly, sniveling. "It's no secret that my papa doesn't like your family at all. If he knew that I talked to you on a daily bases he'd freak."
"Jeez, is your dad Shimura Danzo or something?" He asked in a joking manner.
When the girl gave him a single nod, Shisui blanched at that and it brought at faint scowl to her lips. Her father wasn't that bad of a guy… most of the time…The entire city knew of the man's morbid interest in the Uchiha clan along with his fortified hate and rivalry with a few of them.
"Seriously!?" He raised a brow and just as quick as the first time, she responded with a nod. Shisui frowned incredulously. "No offense but…"
Kyori began to mirror his frown once he paused, closely observing her features. But the lack of talking left her to expect a stream of insults that had her balling her fist.
"You definitely don't share his ugly mug. You must favor you mom a ton because I can't see him in you." He uttered quite seriously, still inspecting her face.
Kyori blinked at his words and she glanced down at her rug, tracing the shapes with her index. "Idiot," she mumbled to herself, wondering how he could blatantly stare at her like that.
It was kind of embarrassing, mostly because no one stared at her in the purest form of awe. It all felt so… warm, appreciative and maybe, even, intimate? Immediately she stiffened at the idea, they would never be in that predicament to begin with.
"What?! Your dad's not attractive in the slightest, but you…" Shisui trailed off with a healthy blush as her eyes cool darted to his. "Well you know. You're quite a bombshell." He winked, smiling when she rolled her eyes at him. "Even when you cry and you do that a lot."
"Shut up!" Kyori frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm not a cryer, it's just allergies..."
"Yeah, and Pluto is still a planet." Shisui sniggered victoriously when she had nothing to refute his words. "Aw cheer up or do I have to give Kyori-san a big hug!"
"Ew no, keep those filthy paws at your side Stalker boy!" Kyori barked, her eyes growing wide as he scooted closer to her with open arms. "No!"
The burgundy haired girl backed away with each advancement made and would have succeeded in evading his hold. That is, if he hadn't stumbled on his lose bottoms and fell on top of her. She lowly yipped at impact of his larger body toppling over hers and her blood boiled when she felt his hard, rigid body against hers.
Shisui slowly risen and his face was a deep red as he gawked uncontrollably in disbelief. Never would he thought he would be close enough to capture her cherry, mango scent let alone press against her more delicate body. They were so close that he could identify her having voluminous lashes that added on to her intense fudge eyes. Then his eyes lowered to her parted lips and his breath slightly hitched once he realized he was itching closer to her lips. He could practically taste her now if he wanted to.
"S-shisui what are you…" the Shimura sputtered and erupted in a fit of witchy giggles when he began tickling her relentlessly until her sides began to hurt. "S-stop it, you're gonna make me pee!"
Shisui chortled, a mischievous glint was in his eyes as he playful tsked before cooing, "Oh my, Kyori-san you have a dirty mouth." He stopped for a second, letting her catch her breath but the girl thumped him in the center of his forehead, fixing him with a semi playful glare. "Ow… Fine no dirty talk f-"
"Oh my god!" Naruto silently shrieked, alerting the large group of boys to peek through the door.
"What the hell is this?" Sasuke asked, quirking a brow as he locked eyes with his cousin. "Shisui, what are you doing on top of Sai's sister?"
"Huh?!" Shisui looked down, mortified at the sight of an equally mortified and flustered Kyori. Right, he was still between her legs. Shisui looked up, internally wincing at what they probably deducted from this. "I-I, well, I was …tickling her!"
The pale Shimura boy stared with an unreadable expression, blinking a lot like Kyori does but the blush on his face told it all. "It seems that you are in the middle of having rough coitus with my sister. On the rug." Sai answered as if it was the most natural thing to say. "And we interrupted it."
"Sai! Watch your mouth!" Kyori barked, glaring incredulously at her brother while wishing Shisui would grow a braincell and get off of her. "We aren't doing anything. Shisui was just leaving."
"Jeez, Kyori nee-san's a damn player Sai!" Naruto shouted. "How can she dump Shisui nii-san just like that?!"
"And after being deviant on a rug? They have no sense of shame," Gaara mouthed roughly, sneering at the flustered teens.
"Shameful indeed. But it's not a concern worthy of a Hyuga." Neji huffed.
"Who cares about shame or getting dumped? In my opinion, Shisui's the man! He banged Sai's mega hot sister!" Kiba pointed out, howling with laughter as Kyori shoved Shisui off of her and shot them a menacing glare.
Sai also shot Kiba a glare though it was hardly noticeable. "Don't say that about my sister in front of her boyfriend Mutt-breath. I read in a book that it's immoral and it breaks bro code."
"I doubt they were having intercourse, but if they were… it seems like she was enjoying it." Shino peered at the teens through his dark shades. "Typically, females are loud while mating..."
Kiba then frowned at Shisui. "Then why is she dumping him?!"
"Excuse me?!" Shisui frowned, feeling strangely offended. "I'm not being dumped, she just wouldn't dump me like that!"
"Shut up Shisui, you're making things worse!" Kyori glared at teen earning a sheepish shrug, man did her hand itch for a slapping. "We're not together and we did nothing!"
"Maybe they're not together because he should've gotten her a snack … right?" Chouji wondered as the boy beside him snorted.
"It's because Itachi's better. Idiots." Sasuke huffed. "My nii-san is better at everything, compared to Shisui."
"Guy-sensei is better than the best!" Almost everyone snorted at the bowl headed boy's comment. "He is!" Lee stomped his foot, pouting.
"This is so troublesome. And might I add, this is none of our business." Shikamaru walked past Kyori and Shisui to step out onto the balcony.
"… guys, she appears very angry." Neji uttered, ignoring the blush tainting his pale cheeks as Kyori edged closer.
"R-run or we're all dead!" Lee shouted.
"I hope you boys enjoyed playing ninja, because you're so dead when I catch you!" Kyori growled, almost running after the horde of tweens.
A dark giggle fell from her lips and Shisui smiled as the tweens scrambled and scattered like a hoard of they were alone, Kyori turned to the Uchiha with a small smile.
"Hey, do you want to maybe...stay for dinner?" she asked, avoiding his gaze as though she knew there would be a haughty expression coating his features.
"Oh? And here I thought you weren't into me." Shisui smirked at the sound of her scoffing.
"I'm not!" the girl huffed, narrowing her woodsy eyes momentarily before looking away. "It's just to show my gratitude for hearing me out..."
Shisui smiled. "When you put it that way, I can't say no!"
After rightfully catching them, Kyori forced the boys to prepare themselves for bed before coming down for dinner. She also made sure they flossed, brushed their teeth hours before putting on a movie. Now the boys were to the point that they couldn't grate on her nerves in anyway and she had Shisui to thank. Despite her being adamant on him leaving after the whole 'coitus' situation, he stayed and helped in every way he could while risking his sanity to preserve her own.
A true friend.
Once the movie credits were rolling, Kyori turned to a sleeping Shisui with a small smile on her lips. Man, if he wasn't an Uchiha she would easily admit he was just as gorgeous in the face as he claimed her to be. He had these lustrous lashes that defined his catty eyes; then there was his cute partially broad nose followed by his pretty pink and uneven shaped lips. Not to mention his short ringlets that framed his defined face. Shisui had really pretty eyes too, though she's always been a sucker for dark eyes. They were like bottomless pits, unnervingly deep that they drew her in to the point of no return. And that wasn't the only thing he had going for him, his b-
Kyori dismissed her thoughts, opting to tap him awake.
"Kyori-san?" He wondered, tiredly stretching his limbs. "What time is it?... I didn't mean to fall asleep."
"It's alright, but it's pretty late." She mumbled, wrapping the throw over her small body. "Will you be okay driving home?" she asked, gesturing her head towards the relentless shower of water crashing against the windowpane. "It's raining hard…"
Shisui let out a low whistle, but risen to his feet with a snarky smile. "Aw, sounds like you care about little old me. Do you?" He questioned raising a brow when she brought her eyes back on the rolling credits.
"Sure… as long as we are friends, I'll care." Touched by her words, Shisui shared a genuine wide smile that had her sporting a small grin. "Can I count this as a truce?"
"Of course but..."
The two trudge closer to the door and Kyori watched Shisui shrug on his sneakers before he turned with an answer.
"I was wondering if I could have your number…? That's my only condition." He stated evenly, and his dark eyes rested on hers, wondering if she would comply.
"I don't own a phone anymore. When I left on my trip I..."
Kyori paused, growing aware of her almost telling Shisui a sliver of truth behind her long string of absence. Her heart began to hammer at the look he had given her. It was as if he suspected something has happened. She didn't have it in her to have more people questioning her. Her parents, her brothers, Ibiki and Inoichi did that enough.
Looking away, she mumbled, "I just don't have one."
"Oh alright then." The Uchiha shrugged, and adjusted his shoes. "I guess I'll see you on Monday and if you want, we can start on the project after practice or something." He waved and turned towards the door.
"How about you give me your number instead?" The burgundy haired teen suggested, not missing the smug smirk growing on his lips.
"Thought you'd never asked. I knew you were crazy about me." Shisui chuckled at the sight of her perpetual eye roll.
Her eyes were really pretty and warm despite how usually they were full of gloomy and fierceness. Shimura Kyori was just that intriguing.
"In your morbid dreams Stalker boy."
He raised a brow. "Are you sure about giving me the green light?"
Kyori's smirk faltered when her eyes met his. Again, how can he stare at her like that? And why was it blocking out her common sense to look the other way? Well… his eyes were gorgeous and for the second time that night, free falling in those coal pits was probably not the wisest thing she's done...
"K-kyori?!" Came a soft feminine voice and the two teens turned towards the exit.
"Mom?" Kyori muttered. They were met with a sharp gasp when a pair of hazel eyes landed on the flustered Uchiha.
"Oh my… who's this?" Hizume inquired with a sly smile that had the teens avoiding her telling gaze.
"He's a friend from school."
'Yeah. Right.' Hizume was certain she had she not made her presence known, the tousled haired boy wouldn't be easily labeled as a friend. Then her husband drily coughed, letting them know his sight was also assaulted by the teens.
"More like he's a deadman for over staying his welcome." Danzo narrowed his eye on Shisui, committing the boy's face to memory.
He had looked quite familiar. Where did he know this boy from? ROOT training? No. He scowled deeply; the boy had dark, daunting features that reminded him of one of his comrades during the war… an Uchiha?
'No, Kyori knew better than to bring one of those home.' He hoped though his cold, beady glare remained on the raven-haired boy. "Who's your little friend and why is he in my house?"
"Papa it's not what you think it is. After dropping off his cousin he decided to stay and help me watch the boys. He literally insisted." the girl rambled, feeling embarrassed and oddly, guilty when her parents gave them presumptuous looks. "Nothing happened!"
"Then why is he here daughter?"
"I just told you why!"
Shisui quietly observed their interaction, pouting at the lack of trust in their gaze. It was so blatant that he was sure Kyori could pick up on to too. But if he spoke, and defended her, it would make them more suspicious than they already were and he didn't want for Kyori to feel like she had done something wrong or was unworthy of their trust.
"I thought Shin was supposed to help." Danzo eyes darted between the two. "Is that why you've called this… boy here?" The older man spat.
"Shin ditched me and I didn't call him over." Kyori finally eyed her father almost flinching at the cold stare off he challenged Shisui to. "Stop it! Shisui didn't do anything." She protested, but the head Shimura had dismissed her words in hopes of hearing his.
"Why are you here boy? What were your intentions with my daughter tonight?" Danzo grilled out with an icy leer. "And don't lie to me."
The Uchiha glanced at Kyori's scowling face before she glowered at her father. Shisui knew that the man was trying to impose that he was a threat, in hopes of scaring him off but he wasn't scared in the slightest.
"Shimura-san, I came to drop off my cousin and I was deadset on helping her out because she's my friend." Shisui stated evenly. "I couldn't leave her in distress with ten boys."
"Is that true Shisui-kun?" Hizume asked softly, resulting in the teen blushing.
He was quite surprised at the endearment added to his name. It was like she was purposefully on the gentler side so that she could balance out her husband's innate abrasiveness.
"You're not making this up to...?" She trailed off, but he understood her.
Shisui shook his head. "Of course not, I was just glad to help even though she kept telling me to leave."
Feeling more at eased, he flashed a smile finding that Kyori was as gentle looking as her mother but as intimidating as her father. It was a cute, nice little blend.
Danzo gave him a hard look and the scowl on his face deepened. "It would've been better had you listened."
"Honey! Leave the boy alone already," Hizume hissed and her husband frowned at her, bitterly murmuring to himself. A bright smile wafted over her face as she reached over to pinch the teen's cheek. "Don't worry Shisui-kun, he's just a sour puss because you're so young and handsome!"
"Thank you, Shimura-san you're too kind." Shisui nervously chuckled. He would've nudge Kyori if it weren't for her father's demonic stare and scowling lips. "Hear that? I'm handsome."
"Mom seriously…? It's late and you're inflating his stupid ego." Kyori grumbled with a small smirk.
"Right, well get home safe and don't be afraid to drop by anytime. We don't mind, right honey?" Hizume turned to Danzo and frowned at him. "I said, right honey?" she repeated dangerously before smiling at the teen.
"Of course," Danzo bit out.
Damn, was he getting tired of being defeated. Though by the grin on his daughter's face, she wasn't loving every instance of his recent beat downs.
The mother and daughter shared an understanding look before Hizume tugged at her husband. "Come on honey, let's give them some privacy."
"For what?" The war hero eyes narrowed at the two teens that awkwardly stood near the door. Still, he followed his wife up the stairs, missing her smirk.
"Because, I'm sure you don't want to miss this," Hizume's voice oozed entrapment and as soon as Danzo comprehended her words, he brought his eye on her dazzling pair. "Let's hurry."
Kyori scrunched her face up in disgust and turned to face an equally disgusted Shisui.
"So much for wanting a late-night snack as of now," she huffed but she was glad she managed to lighten the mood.
"Yeah, I'll have to agree… no offense though." The Uchiha gave her a lopsided grin.
"None taken."
"Good."
"Uh-huh…" the burgundy haired girl blinked, shifting sporadically as they continued basking in the awkward silence. "Thanks for today, I really appreciate it… and you, for forgiving me."
Shisui blushed at the sight of her smiling up at him, he nodded and backed away. "No problem. I'll see you later." Kyori stood by as he slipped into his car with its engine purring to life. He gave her one last look before she bolted the door shut and hesitantly headed up the stairs.
"Ahh…h-honey I'm- "
Kyori sneered, her two feet begrudgingly carried her past the master bedroom. God, what a sinful way to tarnish her night.
