She went to the one person who she knew could help.
Unfortunately, she wasn't all that excited to see her, not that she was surprised.
"What do you want?" Bonnie asked.
"Your help."
"The last two times I helped you had me kidnap two people and you tortured one of them."
"I would say I'm sorry but we both know that's a lie."
"I'm not helping." She tried to slam the door in her face and she caught it.
"Klaus is alive but I'm sure you already know that and since the one weapon that could kill him is gone we need to find something else."
"Mikeal was the only way."
"I'm aware of that. Are you aware that Klaus keeps his family daggered and stored in coffins? I need you to help me hide them."
"Are you out of your mind? You're just gonna make him angrier."
"His family is his one weakness. It's the only leverage on him. He's been targeting mine for months. I'd say turn around is fair play."
"I don't have enough power to hide four Originals!"
"What about the witch house? They hate Klaus as much as we do you think they'll hide them."
"How do you expect to get the coffins from Klaus?"
"Why don't you let me worry about that? You must be ready."
"Elena isn't going to like this."
"I'll let Stefan and Damon worry about Elena. It's what they do best."
Stefan was waiting for her after she came back from storing the Mikelson family in the witch house.
"Let me guess," she says, not surprised to see him in her waiting for her return, "Bonnie told you what I was up to and you're here to try and talk some sense into me."
"Taking his family, do you think that's a smart move?"
She uncapped the bottle of whiskey that she took from the liquor store, "Actually I think it's an ingenious idea."
"He's going to come after you. You know that right."
"There's nothing else that he can take from me."
"What about Jeremy?"
"If there's even one hair out of place on his head I will dismember the original family. Elijah once said Klaus told him he scattered their body across the seas. Maybe I'll try that. Make him alone for the rest of eternity. See how it feels."
"You're not alone."
"I swear if you're about to tell me that I have people who care about me I'm going to toss this bottle at you and light it. Remind me, can a vampire die by fire?"
She was angry he knew not to push her so he stayed quiet. She drank straight from the bottle.
"That's not going to help."
"You see Stefan, that's where you're wrong. I've already had two of these and I'm starting to feel a whole lot better."
"It's only gonna numb it. The pain is still going to be there."
"For the last year, all I've felt is pain or hate. Anger. Numb seems pretty good right about now."
He takes the bottle from her. "Feeling is exactly what you need right now." She had been focusing all of her anger and energy on saving them or killing Klaus she hadn't stopped to grieve.
"I can't," She says, but she could already feel what she was bottling up for the last few months coming to the surface.
"You have to. You have to let it in. It's why you feel so out of control."
"I feel out of control because I'm not in control. I've been at the mercy of Klaus. That ends today."
"I wasn't sure you were going to show up," Alyssa says to Bonnie as she meets her at the old witches' house where she stashed Klaus's family.
"It wasn't like you gave me any choice."
"We all have choices, Bonnie. Glad to see you made the right one." She pulls out her cell phone as it rings and looks at the screen. Klaus's name flashes across the screen but like the last twenty-five times he's called, she ignores it. "Persistent little hybrid isn't he."
"You think he knows his family is missing?"
"It would have been the first thing he did after he killed Mikeal. He's desperate to reunite his family. Desperation I can use."
"You know since you went after his family he's gonna come after yours."
"So what else is new?" She left the witch's house. She answers her phone as she leaves. Her phone rings but this time it's Damon. "Sommer funeral home you stab 'em. We bag 'em we how can I help you today."
"You can start by giving Klaus his family back."
She decides to play dumb. "Klaus's family is missing?"
"Stefan told me about your ingenious plan to hold his family hostage as some kind of payback. You think that's smart considering the role you played in trying to kill him."
"Did I? 'Cause the way I remember it was that I was unconscious when it all went down."
"You helped lure him to town."
"No. I told him that Mikeal was dead and he was. But once again I was betrayed by the people I love most." She says with a pouty tone. "Rebekah can attest to it." Her tone went back to normal. "Well, she could if she wasn't daggered and there's no way you're gonna undagger her because then she'll come after Elena and there's no way you're risking that. Of course, you could tell him that I have his family but he'd come after me and there's no way Elena will forgive you if you caused my death so proceed at your own risk."
Her phone beeps and she looks at it to see that it was Elena. "Speak of the doppelganger." She hangs up on Damon and answers Elena's call. "Elena."
"Did you know Jeremy was fired from his job and that he's been hanging out with Tyler?"
"No. I've been pretty busy trying to kill Klaus to keep up with our little brother."
"Well, Tyler's here. Jeremy invited him in."
Will that kid ever learn? She thinks to herself and looks back at the house torn between keeping the original family hidden. Jeremy won out in the end. "I'm on my way."
She left the witch's house and went back home to find Alaric pushing Jeremy out of the way of a car about to hit him only to get hit himself.
Alyssa vamps speed towards him as the car speeds down the road not touching his brakes. He's bloodied and bruised. She checks for his wrong and notices that he was wearing it and sighed in relief.
Elena hasn't heard the whole thing rush out of the house. "Oh my God Ric!" She looks at Alyssa. "What happened?"
Alyssa picks up Ric from the street and looks at Jeremy, "that's what I'd like to know."
Elena looks at Jeremy as well for answers but he didn't have them. Alyssa carries Rick inside and puts him on the couch. She turns to Elena. "That was one of Klaus' hybrids driving the car."
She looked at Jeremy's wrist because she knew he had to have been compelled to stand in front of the car and indeed his bracelet was missing. "Where is your bracelet?"
Jeremey looked down at his wrist. "I don't know."
"It was Tyler! It had to have been. That's why he was hanging out with you. To get you off the vervain." Elena tells them.
"Klaus is trying to send us a message." Elena looks at her curiously. Guess he hadn't told her what she did. "I stole his coffins full of his dead family members now he wants it back."
"Coffins?"
"Yeah. Four of them. One for each original family member. Well three of them. I'm not sure who's in the fourth."
"So all you have to do is give them back."
"Yeah, that's not gonna happen." She tells them.
"What was your plan anyway?" Elena asks. "You steal his family and then what?"
"I don't know. I'm just playing this one by ear. It's more fun that way."
"Fun? Jeremy almost died."
"Well if you have a better idea to deal with the psycho hybrid we failed to kill I'm all ears."
"I got one. Why don't we get the hell outta here!" Jeremy says. "Pack our bags and go!"
"You know that's not a bad idea." She says to Elena.
"Jeremy just calm down."
"No, no! I'm not gonna calm down, Elena! This happens every time, no matter what we do! Get on my case about school and work...Who cares? None of us are gonna make it out of this town alive." He leaves.
"He does have a point and for the record, I'm not giving him his family back. Well at least not the ones in the coffin but there is another one I'd be willing to part with."
"You want to give him back Rebekah."
"A sibling for a sibling but you do know if she's undaggered she gonna kill you right."
A thought came to Elena's mind. " Klaus's coffins...How many did you say they were?"
"Four? Why?"
"Bonnie's been dreaming about coffins."
"The little witch failed to mention that," Alyssa says, pulling out her cell phone. She calls Stefan and she gets into the car. "Meet me at the old witch." She starts the car and drives off.
"Hello brothers," Alyssa says as she sees Stefan walk up with Damon.
"So this is where you're keeping them? I thought Bonnie said this place lost all its mojo." Damon says.
"The dead witches were angry at her for bringing Jeremy back to life. I guess now they have something they want her to know."
"I hate witches." Damon comments "So fickle...Passive-aggressive…"
"They also have been sending her dreams apparently, about four coffins. So there's that."
They enter the witch's house. When Damon walks into the light, his skin starts to burn. "Aaah. Ow. Ugh." He rushes to a shadowy corner. "Really?! Still?!"
Alyssa says amused, "I guess they still don't like you."
"Maybe you should wait outside," Stefan tells him. Damon rushes outside and Alyssa shows Stefan where the witches are cloaking the coffins. "What are we doing here?"
"Klaus compelled Jeremy to stand in front of the speeding car. Rick pushed him out the way before he could get hit. He was wearing his ring thankfully."
"Is this the part where you dismember their bodies?"
"I would if I could get it opened. Since I can't…" she grabs a hold of him. "I need you to stay here and guard the coffins. If you should come across Klaus tell him Damon has the coffins. He has them but won't tell you where. I need your phone."
He digs in his pocket and pulls it out. "Thanks."
She let him go when she was sure he was compelled and left.
Damon was still standing outside the witch's house.
She left the witch's house to find Damon fuming outside of it. She compels him too. "Keep Stefan company wouldn't want him to get lonely."
She left and went back to Salvatore's house going downstairs to the cellars and into the fridge to get some blood. She calls Klaus using Stefan's phone.
"I was hoping that you would get my message. I hope this phone call means you're finally ready to tell me where they are."
"Where who is?"
Klaus pauses before saying her name. "Alyssa?"
"Who else were you expecting the Easter bunny?" She closes the freezer.
"Since you're calling from Stefan's phone I assume you're still in town."
"Unfortunately," she walks down the hall to Rebekah's cell. "I would have called sooner but I was kind of tied up or rather locked up so I'm a little fuzzy on what happened."
"Cliff notes, Mikeal's dead, and my family seems to be missing."
"Now when you say dead?"
"I used the weapon he was going to use on me to turn him into ash."
"And you're family?"
"Still missing."
"Not all of them," she says looking down at Rebekah. "I have just one condition. You don't touch my brother. However you are planning on retaliating, he stays safe."
"You have my word."
"Salvatore boarding house." She opens Rebekah's cellar doors. "It's where you'll find Rebekah." She carries Rebekah upstairs and lays her on the couch taking the dagger out of her.
Klaus arrives a half hour later and Alyssa shows him where he can find his sister.
"My poor sister. I can't turn my back on her for a moment."
"You have Rebekah. A deal is a deal."
"The life of my sister in exchange for your brother? Yeah, I'd say that's a bargain. Consider him spared."
"You should know Elena was the one that daggered her. When she wakes she'll come after her."
"I can control Rebekah. I need your help finding my family."
"I'll look around." She turns to Klaus. "You should know that Rebekah knows what you did to your mother. She knows that you killed her. She'll probably want you dead now." She walks away leaving him with Rebekah.
She returns home and walks into Jeremy's room. "Hey. Can we talk?"
"Ahh, what did I do now?"
She sits on his bed. "Nothing. I have just been thinking about what you said earlier. About how we should pack up and go.."
"Alyssa, I didn't mean any of that."
"But you were right. You shouldn't have to give up a normal life- just because of us." She holds his gaze for a second before starting to speak quickly before she changes her mind. "Here's the thing, Jer. You're gonna go out of town for a while- a long while. You're gonna stay with some nice family friends in Denver. You're gonna be at a new school. You'll meet new girls, live girls. You're going to drink a few beers, and take an art class. You do whatever you want. You're gonna leave Mystic Falls behind and never think twice about it. You're gonna have a better life, Jeremy, and know that I love you, little brother. Always." She got up and left his room before he could blink.
She was on her way to her room when she got a call from Bonnie to meet her at the old witches' house. She told the both of them that they no longer needed to stand guard as she found them in the room with the coffins that revealed themselves as soon as they came in.
Bonnie walks to the one on the right. "This is the one I dreamed about." She tries to open it.
"Don't bother. It won't open." Alyssa tells her.
"What do you mean? Is it locked?"
"I think it's closed with a spell."
"Meaning whatever is in there, should probably stay in there," Damon tells them.
Bonnie looks at Alyssa. "You said you wanted to make him suffer. The witches led me here for a reason. I think whatever is inside this coffin is our answer."
"Then we have to figure out how to open it and there's only one person who can tell us."
Rebekah is lying on a table, her skin still gray.
"Here we are, Rebekah. Home sweet home. Only took a thousand years...And to think I was counting on you being here with me. But that's all ruined now, isn't it?" He sees one of her fingers moving a little. "I'm so sorry." He strokes her cheek. " Sister...We'll meet again one day…" He daggers her again.
The doorbell rings and he answers. Alyssa is on the other side. Klaus steps aside without a word and she walks in.
