Klaus closes Rebekah's coffin. "Sweet dreams Rebekah." He turns to Mindy, "Show her to her room, would you, love?"
"Sure." Mindy wheels the coffin away. Klaus walks over to the table where tools and a bottle of scotch sit and pours himself a glass. "I'm surprised you're still in town."
She walks in and takes his glass from him, "as if you would let me leave." She takes a sip from the glass. She takes a look around the room still under construction.
"You have your freedom."
"Where exactly shall I go?"
"You're a hybrid. An Immortal. The world is yours for the taking."
"Thanks to you." She walks back over to him and sits the cup down. "You created me. Molded me into your image and for that, I want to thank you."
Her words make him smile. She closes the gap between them and whispers into his ear. "For showing me what it is to be a true monster."
She takes the saw off the table and jams it into his stomach. He staggers back with a look of shock. She picks up a piece of two-by-four and snaps it in half. She drives them both through his shoulders. He grunts out in pain and falls to his knees. Alyssa takes the saw out of his stomach slowly as she hears one of his hybrids coming.
Mandy, the hybrid who just wheeled Rebekah away walks in. Alyssa decapitates her using the saw she just took out of Klaus before she could make a move. She then turns back to Klaus who managed to pull a piece of wood out of his shoulder.
"You came after my family." She grabs another piece of wood off the table. "And that was a big mistake." She smacks him with it a few times. He falls to the ground. "Now I have yours and I promise to make you feel every bit of pain that you've made me feel." She breaks it in half over her knees and jams them into his legs pinning him to the floor. She bends down so that she's looking at him.
"I think I'll start with Elijah. I might not be able to kill him but I bet he can still feel pain. I was thinking I'd start with a blow torch and go from there. I'll make sure to get creative."
"Well, maybe I'll be willing to lose one brother if it meant killing yours."
"We all have to go sometimes right." She sits next to him. "Why don't we find out? We can make it a game. Brother for brother? You kill mine, I kill yours. It'll be positively biblical. I mean we both have no shortage of loved ones right?" She looks over at him and he's seething which only makes her smile.
A few of his hybrids come into the room and survey the scene in front of them and are angry.
She stands up with the saw she used to decapitate Mindy with a smile. "Well, this should be fun."
After beheading what hybrids she could before getting out of there, Alyssa makes her way to the old witch's house intending to fulfil her promise to Klaus. The coffins lay where she had last left them. She opened each of the three coffins until she found the one that had Elijah in it and found him resting peacefully.
"I sincerely hope you'll be able to feel this." She says lighting the torch and letting it get hot. While she waited she played a game of ini-mini-miny-moe to see which body part she was going to torch first and decided with his face.
Someone grabbed her arm before she could put it to his face.
"What the hell?" Damon took the torch from her and she pushed him away. "I was using that."
"What are you doing?"
She turns back to Elijah, "What does it look like? I was going to fry his ass."
"Why?"
"You mean besides the fact that he's the reason Jenna is dead? I kind of told Klaus that I would and I'm nothing if not a hybrid of my word."
"Klaus knows you have him?" Stefan asks, coming into the room.
She turns to him. "Yeah but don't worry, he doesn't know where I have him. I'm not that stupid."
"Yeah just stupid enough to threaten an unkillable original," Damon says.
"Yeah. I kind of did more than that." She says looking down at her bloody clothes. "I had to kill a few hybrids to get out of there. They were not too happy with me for stabbing Klaus with a saw."
Stefan turns her towards him. "Look at me."
Alyssa knew what he was looking for and pushed him away, "I didn't turn it off. I just lost it for a second."
"Yeah, and you could have just gotten us all killed."
She turns back to Damon, "you've been alive for a century and a half I'd say you lived plenty."
"Okay, what about Elena, and Jeremy," Stefan says, trying to make her see reason.
"I'm an immortal Stefan. I'm going to lose them anyway. It doesn't matter if it's today or eighty years from now they're going to die and I'm not. Besides I know Klaus, he's bluffing."
Damon asks, "You sure about that?"
She turns to him. "Well, I don't know Damon. I mean, I guess there's only one way to find out, right? Call his bluff."
"The only way to call someone's bluff is to be willing to lose everything if you're wrong," Damon tells her.
"I already have." She looks back at Elijah. "Now he's going to know what it feels like."
She stops at home to shower and change before heading to school. She waits outside for Tyler to show up. She needed information about what he was planning to do in retaliation to her attack on him and his hybrids this morning.
She starts to approach him but stops when she sees him walk over to a sulky Caroline who had just gotten out of her car. Instead of approaching she hangs back and listens.
"I can't talk to you," Caroline says.
"I know you're upset but…"
"Upset? You almost got Jeremy killed! And before you ask me to understand, or to support you, can you at least tell me what you're planning to do about your sire-bond to Klaus?"
"There is nothing that I can do about it, Caroline! That's the point. I just wanted you to know that I understand why you can't be with me. Even though I want to put you first, before anyone, I can't. I'll never be able to. And I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I just want you to know that."
"I'm sorry too."
He gives her a small drawstring bag. "Happy birthday."
He walks away and Alyssa follows him and cuts him off before he can walk into the school. "Just the hybrid I was looking for.
He shoulders his book bag on his back. "I have nothing to say to you." He attempts to walk away but she cuts him off again.
"No matter I'm not here to chit chat I just needed to ask one little question and I'll be on my way."
"I stopped by Klaus's house earlier. Saw what you did to him. I thought you'd be halfway out of town by now. You know he will kill you.
"That's not much of a threat seeing as I'm already dead and if he means to kill me then I plan on making his life miserable before he does. Speaking of you're his favorite plaything so you would know what his plans are to retaliate. Whatever his plans are I'm sure they involve you."
"He asked me to do something but I told him I wasn't."
"What did he ask you to do?"
He doesn't answer right away.
"Come on Tyler, you can tell me I'm sure Klaus wouldn't mind."
"Look it doesn't matter I told him no."
"Yeah, I'm sure it's that easy." She could tell he wasn't about to tell her anything so she lets it drop. "But fine whatever don't tell me. I'll have to figure it out myself."
She walks into a school and sees Bonnie decorating Caroline's locker with balloons and streamers.
"Sorry to interrupt your Picasso moment but there's something I think you should know. Jeremy is gonna be leaving town for a while. He'll be staying with some old family friends in Denver until this whole Klaus thing blows over."
"Jeremy wouldn't just leave you to deal with Klaus on your own."
"I know. I compelled him."
"You what?"
"It's not safe for him here anymore. Leaving will give him a better life. The only reason I'm telling you is that I know that you two haven't worked out your stuff. And I thought that maybe you'd wanna say goodbye."
Bonnie looks at Jeremy who is at his locker talking to someone.
"I know you might not like it but it's what's best for him and once you stop being angry then you'll see it too."
"Damon?" Stefan says going into the basement after hearing someone down there.
"No," Alyssa closes the fridge where the blood is kept after grabbing a few bags. "Just little ole me."
"I thought you'd be out trying to find new ways to terrorize Klaus."
She holds up the blood bags. "Can't very well do that on an empty stomach could I."
"Wanna take a break from your revenge plot? It's Caroline's birthday and she was feeling a little down so Elena thought instead of a birthday we'd throw her a funeral."
"You want me to spend the night with Elena and her friends Eulogizing Caroline the dead undead girl?"
"I don't know. It could be kind of fun."
"If that's your definition of fun then you really need to get out more." She walks past him.
"What else do you have to do?"
"I don't know Stefan. I was thinking about washing my hair or organizing my closet by season. Anything sounds better than that."
"I think it'll be good for you."
"How is hanging with Elena and her BFF good for me?"
"It'll be good to be around people."
"Being around Elena and her friends is the last thing that I need."
"Making Klaus suffer is? You already took his family. What more is there? You can't kill him."
"There are other ways a person can die Stefan. You taught me that. So did Damon and Klaus, even Elena. So no Stefan, I can't kill him, but I can do far worse." She smiles. "And I know just the place to start."
Alyssa plucks a glass of champagne off the table as she surveys the room for Klaus. She had heard from a now-dead hybrid where to find him. The founder council was having another meeting under the pretense of a fundraiser for the restoration of wickery bridge. The same one that her parents were killed going over.
It took her a minute to spot Klaus by Mrs. Lockwood's side. The two seemed pretty chummy. He was no doubt turning on the charm which she was sure many people have fallen victim to. He was commenting on her eyes when she walked up.
"You really ought to be careful of the company you keep Mayor Lockwood." She looks at Klaus who doesn't appear to be too happy to see her. "Especially the charming ones. They can be much more dangerous than they appear."
Caught off guard, Mayor Lockwood asks, "Alyssa what are you doing here?"
"I'm here for him." She turns to Klaus. "I thought we could finish our chat from this morning."
Klaus put on a smile. "I'd be more than happy to oblige at a later time. Right now I'm speaking to Mayor Lockwood about the very substantial donation."
She turns to Mayor locked. "You do realize that you've been kissing the ass of an immortal hybrid who ruined your son's life? Right?"
"Oh, come now. Some would say that I saved it from all that nasty full moon business. I've never had to go through it myself more than twice, to be honest, but still, I'm very sympathetic."
Carol responds, "Klaus has promised to protect Tyler and our town."
"He and his hybrids are the ones the town needs protection from."
"Well, I'd have no use for them if you would kindly return my family."
"Not gonna happen."
"That's what I thought, which is why I've agreed with the Mayor. You and the Council stay out of my hair, I stay out of yours. Your town gets protected, my hybrids get left alone and everybody will be happy. All you have to do is stop decapitating my friends."
"Yeah about that. I'm going to need you to get your hybrids out of town. If you want them to keep their heads."
"I'm afraid I'm gonna have to deny your request."
"You don't want to do that."
"Why not? I rather enjoy having them around."
"Okay." She sits her glass down and walks away.
Stefan and Elena are out looking for Caroline who had left with Tyler a while ago not trusting them to be alone with him being under Klaus's influence.
Alyssa spots them after texting Stefan. She told him she had changed her mind about attending the party and because he wants to believe he can save her from herself he tells her.
She follows them, impaling Stefan with a stick in the stomach before whisking Elena away. She forces her inside her car and locks the door.
"What are you doing, Alyssa?"
She looks over at her sister and answers, "making my next move."
"So, what's the plan? What's the big move you're making?"
"I took Klaus's family to make him suffer. I'm not gonna let him make himself a new one."
"So, what are you gonna do, huh? Are you gonna lock me in some cave and keep me hostage?"
"Maybe." She looks at her. "Maybe, I'll just turn you into a vampire."
Elena was shocked and scared. "Stop the car, Alyssa,'' she shouts. "Stop the car!'
"Sorry." She calls Klaus instead. When he answers she says, "Last chance to get your hybrids out of town."
"For someone who has her freedom you just can't seem to stay away."
"Tell your hybrids to get out of town, Klaus."
"Well, that's not gonna happen until I get my coffins back."
"Then I guess I'm gonna drive your blood source off Wickery Bridge"
"I don't believe you. You won't kill her."
She bites her wrist and forces it into Elena's mouth and forces her to drink his blood.
Elena sputters, "No! No! No! What are you doing?"
Klaus concerned asked, "What's going on?"
"I just fed her my blood. No more hybrids if she's a vampire."
"You won't do it."
"Try me."
He stays silent and she speeds up.
Elena starts screaming for her to slow down but she doesn't.
"Fine, I'll send them away. You win."
Alyssa doesn't slow down or stop until the last possible second and slams on the brakes. Klaus hears this and hangs up, furious.
Alyssa puts the car in park.
Elena starts sobbing. "How could you?! Our parents died going over this bridge. I almost died."
Alyssa didn't address what she just said she very nonchalantly says, "you can drive yourself home." She gets out of the car.
Alyssa shows up to say goodbye to Jeremy the next morning as he was preparing to go to Denver.
"You're gonna have to let me go, eventually." He tells her as her hug lasted a little longer than necessary.
"Be safe, okay?"
"Yeah, okay, all right. Alaric's waiting."
Bonnie arrives happy that she hasn't missed him. "Good, you haven't left yet." Alyssa falls to the back as Bonnie walks over.
Jeremy asks her, "What are you doing here?"
"I came to say goodbye."
Bonnie and Jeremy hug. Jeremy grabs his stuff, looks at them one last time, and goes to the car.
Alyssa watches him leave waving one last time. Elena turns to her to talk about what happened the previous night but she's already gone.
"Hey Jenna," Alyssa says kneeling in front of her grave. "Or should I say hi mom? I'm not sure what I'm supposed to call you now or why I'm even doing this. I don't know if you can even hear me but I heard it's supposed to be comforting and I can really use that right now and maybe a little guidance. I keep trying to imagine what you would say to me if you were here. What advice you would give me? You would probably be disappointed in me. Angry at me for not taking your advice I'm trying. I just don't know how. I've never been good at letting myself be happy. I don't even know what it looks like. I'm not even sure I deserve it after everything I've done. But if I'm going to try then it won't be here. It can't be. It'll just be a constant reminder of what I've lost and everything I've done to keep them safe. So once Klaus is no longer a problem, if I'm still alive, then I'll do as you ask." She touches the top of the headstone. "I promise."
She turns on the light to her room and without turning around she says, "whatever you're about to do I strongly advise against it." She turns around to face who she thought was Damon but turns out was Stefan. "Not the Salvatore brother I was expecting. Or is he too busy comforting Elena?"
"Damon wanted to come over here but I talked him out of it. I didn't think it would end well."
She walks over to him. "So you're here to lecture me is that it?"
"No lectures."
She eyes him suspiciously. "I threatened to drive your girlfriend off a bridge and turn her into a vampire."
"I guess I've come to realize that there's a reason you do what you do."
"Anger issues?" She starts to get undressed and Stefan turns his head. "A strong dislike for your girlfriend?"
He scratched his eyebrow while trying not to see her change out of the corner of his eyes. "Yeah about that. You seemed to have some issues way before me and Damon came to town."
"It's the cliche. The little sister is stuck in the big sister's shadow. Add on to the fact that I'm the forgotten middle child and it's bound to raise some resentment." She slips on her shirt and sits in the middle of the bed. "You can look now."
He checks to make sure it's safe before turning to face her. "So this resentment towards Elena was because of your parents?"
"In the beginning," she stretches her legs out and leans back on her hands. "Elena has always been the golden child. The one all parents wanted their kids to aspire to, pretty, popular, got decent grades. Didn't get in trouble in school whereas I only achieved one of those things. They wanted me to be more like her and I resented them for it. I felt like they didn't understand me. I know all kids think that but I felt like they never saw me for me. All they saw was the person I was never going to be, Elena. Then they died…"
"Because of Elena, they were going to get her from a party. She was the reason they were on the bridge so you blame her."
"Elena tell you that did she?" She sits up crossing her legs. "Well did she tell you the whole story?" The confused look on her face tells her that she didn't. "Of course, she didn't. Why would she? Then it wouldn't be poor little Elena anymore, would it? That night of the party she just had to go do you know what I was doing? Having dinner with my parents like we always do on my birthday."
His eyebrows rose in recognition.
"The one day my parents didn't look at me like a complete disappointment ended in them dying and nobody cared to ask me how I felt. They were all too worried about Elena. Everyone but Vicki. She was my rock through the whole thing so was Jenna when the shock wore off. They were the only two people who ever really cared. The two of them and Jeremy were the only family that I had and now they're all gone. There's no one left and I blame her. You stayed because of her and because of that Vicki died.
The vampires got out of the tomb because you ran in there to save her and I died. Klaus is here because of her. Jenna died because Damon saved Caroline to stop the ritual. After all, he fed Elena his blood because he loves her and he didn't want her to die. I had to send Jermey away because Klaus almost killed him and the only reason he's here in the first place is because of her. So yeah Stefan, I blame her. I blame her for everything."
"You forgot someone."
It was her turn to look confused.
"In your list of grievances you have with Elena. You forgot someone," He crosses his arms, "Damon."
She gets off the bed and continues to get ready for bed tying her hair. "Damon's not an issue anymore."
"He can't remember having any feelings for you but you didn't forget."
"Maybe not but I'm trying to. It hasn't been easy." She turns to him crossing her arms. "None of this has. Sometimes I wish I did just turn it all off. But I need to feel the pain if I'm going to feel anything else."
"You know," he leans up from his position against the wall near the window. "If I didn't know any better I'd say that sounds suspiciously like hope."
"I'll start believing in hope when Klaus is dead and if I'm going to make that happen then I need to be at my best which means sleep."
"Yeah, I should go." He starts to head towards the window.
"Or you could stay." He turns back around. "Just for tonight. I don't want to be alone." He hesitated in answering and she realized it was a mistake to ask. "You know what never mind I don't know what I was thinking. I'll see you tomorrow." She walks into the bathroom and shuts the door.
She leans against it for a few quiet moments and when she comes out, he's gone.
