Years have passed since Zet's indoctrination into the Jedi order. Zet has not yet been alowed to return to training since his expulsion from combat class halfway into his first year. Such were the sort of things that still were not going well for him.
His personal meditation sessions with Yoda have been seeing increasing results. Countless hours have revealed a deeper insights to his personal problems, Even though Zet felt they were both sitting in a closet doing an excellent job at gathering dust. In fact it was today that he was allowed to have some physical practice. It had been some time since the last time he'd practiced. After being told by Yoda where todays class would be held. He went ahead and arrived early. Since he was allowed to practice with my group today it was with the extra excitement of gaining more stats. Since he been out of practice for a while i think that i would be taking things slowly today.
The rest of the class would continue to train over the next few months transitioning into learning a secondary form. They had gotten better at the use of Shii-Cho since i was last here. They all had clearly gotten used to their body type all of them becoming highly flexible and making better use of there overall peak fitness. Overall they just seemed better since i had been left in my room working on Shii-Cho almost to max completion. Arriving within the xp bar had already started gaining xp just by watching the class preform their final set until the master had spoken and all at once they had stopped.
A young girl from the crowd that had been in practice went up to me and issued a challenge. I was shocked that someone would want to spar even though I've been out of practice for a while now. I was surprised when the masters allowed a challenger to well challenge me to combat. The masters who were looking had allowed the challenge to take place.
The twi'lek girl Aayla was the current best duelst in our class. She had actually mastered Shii-Cho in the time i had been away and had wanted a chance to challenge me. I was allowed to use both forms that i known about, she began by taunting me playing into the fact that i was known as a hothead please small taunts like that only make you look childish. she was very forward with the taunts and circling my position.
After the initial duel procedures something like in naruto where we would hold two fingers up. This was actually different it was like holding an edge while we powered on our training sabers. We stared into each others eyes allready predicting each others movement in advance and in real time to compensate. This was the sort of edge that began to form almost like two great beasts were going to begin to fight.
Aayla had struck first without hesitation and she showed great promise that she in fact mastered Shii-Cho. But my soresu was quicker definitively and defensively than her textbook recurrent strikes. Striking at my defense made her unbalanced and tired but it was in all seriousness that the masters had decided on giving me this lesson in humility. It was because she was good enough to keep up the pace of the fight that i was havinga challenge.
I would say that we were evenly matched i would also say that the match should have already been over a long time ago, but no here we still are. Once i started to gain an advantage her, she would quickly polish her blade work then i would be the one back peddling and defensive again Her grace and agility were both impressive not to mention her footwork was very on par just pushing past my guard.
She would sidestep any blows i would launch then strike while my sword was away. It was in all honesty that I could barely defend. If i missed a swing and she came for retribution what would happen Kenbunshoku Haki allowed me to further predict what her next move should be. From an outside perspective it should be seen that my instincts could auto activate and block her blade. Some how i wouldn't know how but my body would just block for me even when her blows could had struck true. Haki and Force abilities were merged together naturally and so well together that it slightly boosted both abilities. Jedi don't have reliable precognition they would sit meditate for hours just to gain a glimpse of their future. Jedi would rely upon the same Force like an extra sense not really knowing what may be thrown in their direction.
Form three was in it's own way a very defensive stance perfectly suited for lengthy combat. While uniquely suited it couldn't preform offensively like other stances. I couldn't believe how well it protected me almost as much as i couldn't believe how well my nerves protected me. The combat was going so fast and being able to preform this well was making me admonished.
After deflecting a three strike combo that should have for all purposes ended me. We had held our standstill for a while both of us stood still far apart trying to recover our breath. When combat began again she had began to strike repeatedly. Because i was gaining experience on her and she knew it, since the battle began i had only started getting better.
I was both gaining xp in my form one and in form three through direct combat. While she was only getting practice in combating Soresu. Our abilities with the sword had been improving with our spar. She tried every trick in the book to get through Soresu's guard's practicing form three here was actually improving it.
We blocked and counter attacked blow for blow, any single strike could have been enough to end the spar. But she had been nimble enough to dodge any attempt i made. Sparing in the temple similarly enough was almost exactly like fencing a single hit and you would lose a point but we had been fighting for long enough that it would be considered the end of our spar. Jedi rules and time constraints limited us and all that.
Lightsaber combat is a dangerous thing in actual combat any single hit could lose you a leg, an arm, or a head. Since these lightsabers made for practice they wouldn't leave much else besides a small burn atop the skin.
The twi'lek girl while really good at Shii-Cho only practiced the one stance, my own style encompassed two Shii-Cho and Soresu but while i wasn't as good i still wasn't limited. We had both began sweating profusely neither one of us had been able to get a clean hit in.
My defensive stance and my offensive stance were slowly overwhelming the Young twi'lek. Split seconds defending only to get suddenly strike within her guard and push her back again.
Almost every swing either had made been a close swipe every one of them could have been the decisive blow. We had both been drenched in sweat. I watched as she sidestepped gracefully and could now see why twi'lek women were so saught after and my monkey brain just activated in that moment. That neuron in my head turned on suddenly distracting me as she swung down on my head. Her final desperate swing broke through my guard landing the first blow. I was a little bit too late with my block and my muscles were moving slower.
After a while of both of us just catching our breathes. she had started to smile and laugh and had even given me a "well fought". With a clap on my back she went to converse and quell the awe struck crowd. I hadn't minded losing the fight it was humbling to get beaten like this.
The masters watching were very clearly silently conversing on our potential and growth and had given me permission to return on the condition that i stay on the same lessons as the rest of the class.
They were impressed by me but still they couldn't just have a single student get too far ahead that just leads to arrogance and the darkside. It would clearly start to matter less and less as time went on and we reached further in our lessons. Sooner or later we would start to learn other saber forms. Whats two to six froms matter all things considered in the grand scope of things.
The other students had both gained confidence by watching us and lost it at the same time watching us fight against each other. Both of us having gained value in our spar that we could practice with other younglings.
All the younglings had been in awe that i had been able to keep up with Ayala's movements since she was the top student. Aayla had clearly closed the gap since she'd been very motivated once she had learned that i had been stripped of my right to learn swordsmanship. She'd actually became inspired of my proficiency with a blade. She had wanted to beat me and prove to me that her goal for the longest time was being the best in technique. Not only did she do that she had also couldn't stop herself from celebrating with others since she beat me in the spar.
At first Aayla hadn't understood why he wouldn't get to attend regular class. But now, i think, she did, i was simply good."too good to be kept in class and it showed". It had all been enough to think about that i wouldn't go down easy. She was only starting to get better. If her final blow hadn't of been so desperate Zet could have won. she could have lost just by through sheer exhaustion form three was terrifying if he keeped it up any longer. Both of us were very tired on our last legs but we were allowed back into our rooms to rest with food being brought over later.
Yoda had talked to several masters about Zet and intrest had started to be shown around Aayla as well. Both of them were simply the cream of the crop as both had shown great talent and any master should be glad to teach either of them. Some masters were shown more respect and were given first dibs but thats just how jedi politics usually work.
"Great talent they show. yes but its still too soon for them" Yoda said. "Hm more Jedi had shown intrest but sometimes the force would choose the padawan for you" he continued telling other masters. A certain green Jedi had looked on in intrest as Zet nursed a small burn on his head.
