Izuku thought that life was funny. You're born, do your thing, then you die, and in a million years, nobody remembers you. Imagine it, spending your entire life building a legacy, and it all disappears in an instant. It was the ultimate punchline, he always laughed when he thought of it. People thought he was weird, but who cares about them?

It was a normal day for him, he was writing jokes on the train. But none of them were nearly as great as the ultimate punchline. He needed inspiration. This led to him meeting Himiko Toga, a villain. She promised to help him tell the ultimate joke, so she took him to a bar to join a 'League of Villains.'

Izuku was fine with being a villain. For some reason, he had no problem doing anything to get what he wanted. The doctors said there was something wrong with his brain. He didn't pay attention, he thought of a funny joke as they explained. That was all he remembered before the last year of middle school. His mind couldn't remember the rest correctly. Sometimes it plays out one way, and sometimes another. He never thought about his past, though. He always looked to the future.

As they waited in the bar, Izuku heard a voice in his head. "Would you help me?" Another voice in his head. He mostly blocked them out, but sometimes they broke through. It reminded him of his mother.

'Yeah, sure, I'll help.' It was just a joke, but someone didn't get it.

He was transported to a new location. He was under a bridge. A villain made of sludge was forcing its way down his throat. He couldn't move, breath, or anything. He was going to die from a joke gone wrong. It was funny, he felt a chuckle attempt to escape. It was blocked by the sludge, but he couldn't stop.

Izuku's quirk was called 'Laughing Gas.' Whenever he laughed, or even chuckled slightly, he'd be thrown into a long fit of laughter. While laughing, a gas would come from his lungs that caused others to laugh. The strength and amount of the gas were determined by how funny the joke was. This time it was about him dying, so it would be extremely powerful. He usually had a mask to contain it in his bag, but he couldn't reach it.

"Hey, kid," the slimy guy said. "What's going on in there?" The gas was building up. Izuku's laughter can be blocked but the gas would still come out, eventually. The villain must've felt it. "Stop doing that!" The sludge guy doubled his efforts of invading Izuku's lungs. It was so funny, it was only a matter of time before Izuku was free.

His vision was getting blurry, but he was still laughing. He was going numb, but he was still laughing. Death was just a few seconds away and he hadn't been more entertained than ever before.

It all happened in an instant, the gas made a small opening in the sludge guy's body and rushed out. The villain flew back from the pressure alone. He started to laugh, a loud, torturous laughter that pierced the air around them. It was beautiful. The villain settled on the floor, he was unconscious, but still letting out air. It was a gamble whether he'd live or die. The only one who could laugh that long was Izuku.

"Never fear!" All Might, the ultimate setup, suddenly arrived. "I am here!" He had such a large presence that anybody could tell he was there. It was convenient that there were only three people there. All Might let out a hefty laugh. The gas shouldn't be that high, so it was all him.

Izuku admired All Might more than anyone else because he was the one guy he wanted to ask a certain question to. The reason was mainly the smile that never left his face. Izuku loved it. He won't be asking the question to this one, though. It wouldn't be the same. He needed a reaction that lasted.

All Might was looking at him, he found himself smiling with the hero. "Hello, have you seen a particularly slimy villain around here? I've been looking for quite some time." Izuku pointed at the pile of sludge behind him. "Great!" Izuku blinked and a burst of air shot into Izuku, it almost knocked him over. "Do you want a glass of bottled evil?"

All Might had two bottles filled with the villain's sludge, a a couple of eyes were floating in it. The pupils moving proved he was still alive, he probably didn't need to breathe. Izuku thought the joke was pretty funny, but he forced his laughter inside. He didn't want to ruin the conversation.

All Might put the bottles in his cargo pants. "Young man, am I right in assuming the villain attacked you?" He kneeled in front of him with a smaller voice.

"Yeah, I fought him off." Izuku coughed, his throat was a little dry. The villain took all the moisture. "I just might take that glass."

All Might laughed at Izuku's joke. It was a little funny, but not nearly his best. "It must've taken a lot of bravery to fight back." It was more the fear of death.

"It was terrifying. I almost died." Izuku thought for a few brief moments. Somebody decided to put him there, and he wanted to do a little joke. He just needed to do a little coaxing. "If only someone was there to help me sooner."

All Might paused for the briefest of moments. The silence was deafening. "I understand what you're saying. I failed to come sooner and put lives at risk. Please tell me how I could make it better." He instantly knew what to say.

"I've always wanted to be a hero. Can I get a recommendation to U.A.?" He said it all respectfully like, it was nearly impossible to hold in his smile.

"Oh, I guess I could help with that." All Might stood up. "I'll be sure to put it in."

"One more thing. I have transient global amnesia or something like that, so I might forget our meeting. Make sure I get a letter about it on the day of the exam."

"I'll write it myself!" All Might was back at his usual tempo. "I hope to see you in ten months!"

"Thank you so much!" Izuku let out some energy, this joke was getting too perfect. "I'll remember this for the rest of my life!"

"Great to hear! Now!" All Might crouched and jumped. "Catch you on the flip side!"

The very next second he was spinning around in the bar again. Toga was hammering about him joining the league. He supposed that was good, but he needed to do something.

He got the mask from his backpack, put it on, and let himself laugh. The joke was perfect. Force the other guy to accept an invitation to U.A. from All Might. Nobody would be stupid enough to reject it after asking for it so much. Even better if he did say no, because that situation would be even funnier. Izuku laughed for nearly an hour just thinking of the implications. If only he could go back there.

Author's Note

This is a standard "Joker Izuku." He has a laughing gas quirk, becomes a villain, something something Toga. If anybody wants to make this a story, they're more than welcome to.

The main inspiration for this Izuku was "Why Aren't You Laughing?" by Seductive-Toga on Wattpad. Trust me, it's one of the good ones, maybe. I haven't read it in forever.
