In the morning one awoke to the sound of birds chirping outside her bedroom. Their singing on the branches of a white dogwood brought such a soothing sound to wake up for another day of class. The door to her bedroom opened with haste. "You have to get ready." The girl sat up in her bed. "Please sit back down and let us share our coffee together." The angsty girl wanted to deal with the pressing issues occurring at the academy but she could never say no to those perfect blue eyes. "Yes madam president." "Thank you Sayaka for the coffee. We can discuss our troubles after we have had a couple sips of this special Vietnamese blend. Kirari took a sip, the intensity of the roast opened her eyes fully with satisfaction. "You never cease to amaze me Sayaka." Sayaka received a quick kiss on the lips as a display of approval. Sayaka blushed, these moments of just the two of them were the best parts of her day. Do not get the wrong idea, Sayaka is always honored and satisfied with being the secretary of the Student Council as well as being the president's personal secretary. However, these little moments of just the two of them in private provided a euphoric sensation that would be hard to put into words if required. She lived to serve Kirari and her approval was all that was necessary to keep going in this ambiguous world.
"So Sayaka, what has gotten you so worried this early in the day?" "Yuriko Nishinotouin was sent to the emergency room at Igri Memorial Hospital yesterday afternoon." Kirari was unfazed by this realization. "Yes, this is troubling information to hear. Do you know why she was sent to the hospital?" "Unfortunately I do not know the exact cause of this medical emergency madam president. This occurred at a time when most students have left the academy to go home. A couple students did see Yuriko dragged out of the Traditional Culture Research Club in a medical stretcher by the paramedics." "Did those students see anyone else come out of the club besides medical personnel?" "Yes, Yumeko Jabami and Midari Ikishima. One of the students reported seeing Midari's bandaged arms covered in blood, presuming to be from Yuriko." "Has anyone heard anything from Midari since yesterday afternoon?" "Unfortunately no and she has not responded to my text messages." "She is probably at the hospital to provide support for Yuriko." "What is your plan of action Kirari?" "My plan is to spend the first half of the day at Hyakkaou and talk to Yumeko Jabami within that first half. For the second half you and I will personally visit Yuriko Nishinotouin and interview Midari for the remainder of the second half. I will leave Ririka in charge while we are gone. I must say this morning has been interesting so far. I know you will be busy rearranging my meetings and other affairs. But I think I can make it worth your while." Kirari undressed in front of Sayaka. "Please, let me clothe you and vice versa." Kirari leaned closer to Sayaka. "You can even put on my panties for me," she whispered into Sayaka's ear. Sayaka grabbed both coffees and placed them onto the night stand before Kirari undressed her from her night gown. Kirari stared at Sayaka's bare body for a minute. "Madame president, is something wrong?" Kirari's eyes glowed with such intensity. "No my dear Sayaka. I am so lucky to have someone like you by my side. I have no idea what I would do without you." Sayaka began to tear up. She entered Kirari's warm embrace. "Oh Kirari. I will always be by your side. I love you." "I love you too."
…
Yumeko noticed that Midari was not present for their Pre-Calculus. She stared at the empty seat and felt a pit forming in her stomach. Yumeko still had not fully processed what happened the other day. Midari did all the crucial work while Yumeko provided tools and kept Yuriko's arms steady. Yumeko had some blood on her hands after the procedure was complete while Midari practically had both her forearms drenched in Yuriko's blood. It amazed Yumeko how unfazed Midari was during the entire event. It was almost as if she was in a familiar scenario. Bang. A ruler leaned against the chalkboard fell, taking Yumeko out of her inner thoughts. The bell rang twenty minutes later. We have now reached the middle of the school day. Yumeko was on her way to the cafeteria before being approached by the vice president. "Uh, hi. I don't believe we have met before. I am Yumeko Jabami, a second year transfer student." The vice president was silent. Yumeko could not tell what the person behind the mask was expressing. A few seconds of silence passed. "Oh, sorry. I can get lost in my own mind sometimes. I am Ririka Momobami, vice president of the Student Council. The president of the Student Council would like to speak to you." Yumeko was surprised to be requested by the president herself. This had to be related to the events that transpired the other day. "I was actually planning to have lunch soon…" Ririka interrupted Yumeko. "Lunch will be provided for you by the Student Council. Now please, follow me." Yumeko obliged as it would be easier to come clean than make the situation worse.
Ririka led Yumeko to the Student Council room. She opened the door for Yumeko. "Thank you Ririka." "Enjoy your meal Ms. Jabami." Yumeko noticed the change of tone in Ririkas voice. It was less rigid as in a response to Yumekos kindness. Yumeko only saw one person in the room, Kirari Momobami. She sat at the far end of the table, a way to demonstrate her position in this institution. Ririka closed the door, now it was just the two of them. "Please have a seat anywhere you like." Yumeko decided to have a seat to the right of the president. "Are you doing alright Yumeko? You seem uncomfortable." "Ah yes president Momobami. I think my blood sugar might be a little low. I forgot to eat breakfast this morning. All I had today was water." "Well, hopefully today's lunch my secretary has fixed will satisfy your hunger." The side door of the Student Council room opened. Sayaka came out with a food cart carrying two plates of Thai coconut curry served on a bed of basmati rice as well as two glasses and a glass pitcher of spring water. Sayaka served both Yumeko and Kirari the dish and a glass of spring water. Yumeko smelled the tropical aroma of the dish with delightful anticipation. "I feel spoiled. Sayaka is it?" "Yes Ms. Jabami." "I would like to thank you for making this meal for me. And I would be honored if you could eat with us." Sayaka was not expecting to be thanked, let alone be invited by the guest to eat with them. "I appreciate your generosity Ms. Jabami but I couldn't…" Kirari interrupted Sayaka. "Please Sayaka," She held her hand. "Eat with us." Sayaka blushed. She obliged and went into the other room to get herself a plate and drink. A few minutes passed, and everyone enjoyed the savory flavors of the dish. Yumeko was surprised to find pineapples in the curry. She felt special. "You really outdid yourself on this meal, Sayaka." "Thank you madam president. This is actually the first time I made this dish. I felt like it would be nice to try something new." "Then we will add this to our meal rotation because I think I'm in love." Kirari felt pure joy in making Sayaka blush. That statement worked without question. Kirari placed her left arm under the table to tap Sayaka's knee, signaling that she wanted her right hand. Luckily, Sayaka was ambidextrous so she gave Kirari her hand and finished eating with the left. They could feel each other's heartbeat through the radial pulse. Such a peaceful way to finish lunch. A couple minutes passed and Kirari was ready to start the interview. "This lunch was exceptional. Now, let's get down to business shall we?"
