The next day, Midari arrived at Hyakkaou with her mother, dropping her off as usual before going to the office. Midari gave her mother a hug, she reciprocated with a kiss to the forehead. As Midari left the car and waved goodbye to her mother, she was greeted by a cheerful Yumeko Jabami. "Good morning Midari. How are you today?" Midari was feeling annoyed but found Yumeko's smile to be infectious. 'I am better than before. I got to visit Yuriko the other day.' "That is great news Midari. How is she doing?" 'I mean she's doing as well as she could in that situation. I fed her omurice as well as gave her fluids to keep her hydrated. I wanted her to keep both arms flat on the bed. It felt too early for her to start picking up things.' Yumeko noticed that Midari's right eye was forming tears. "Here." Yumeko handed Midari a couple tissues. 'Thanks. I did not even realize I was about to cry.' "It's alright Midari, you don't have to hide your emotions from me. If we hold everything in all the time, we will end up destroying ourselves." 'Yes. Despite the struggles I have endured and persevered, sometimes I forget that sentiment every now and then. The last few days have made me realize what is truly important in my life.' Yumeko reassured Midari with a smile but also a hug. "I'm glad to hear it. And whenever you feel like you will stumble, I'll help lift you back up." Yumeko's child-like enthusiasm reminds her of someone but cannot figure out who. Those memories receding in the back of Midari's mind have faded over time. 'I truly appreciate your words, Yumeko. It will not be simple to solve this case, but I will become victorious and finally reach inner peace. Now, let's head to class.' "Yes." Both walked together to their Pre-Calculus class to endure a lecture about limits and graphs, all of which sounded dreadful to Midari. This felt useless as she had no idea when she would use this knowledge in the real world after she eventually graduates. Midari never really thought much about life after graduation, she didn't think she would be alive this long let alone long enough to see graduation. Everything felt up in the air at the moment, she would just wait and see how this case would unfold and reach its inevitable conclusion.
