ARNOLD
"Oh, come on Mr. Hyunh. You haven't touched your plate in like two minutes. Let me have that last piece of bacon, e-he-he-he-he."
"I'm saving it for the last part of the paper, Oskar." Hyunh said as I'm overhearing and walking into the kitchen. "You better fuck off...oh morning Arnold."
The kitchen was permeated with the aroma of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and grits. After last night, I was in dire need of protein, carbohydrates, and an energy boost.
"How was your date night with Lila?"
"We had great time!"
"Of course he had a great time. I heard him and Lila in his room last night, e-he-he-he-he."
"What?" I responded. My body was frozen, and my heart was racing against time within a second.
"What you mean you heard us?" I asked.
"I heard Lila climb down your escape ladder last night. You should have let her use the front door like a gentleman."
"You...saw Lila?"
"I didn't see her, but I heard her. I was going to come to the window to say hello but I was too busy asking Susan to make me a sandwich."
Hyunh congratulated me and believed that I had spent the night with Lila, which was embarrassing since I had not. Me and Helga have promised each other to be extremely careful to keep our secret safe as much as possible. I started to feel a bit uncomfortable and there was no way I was going to correct him by saying that it wasn't Lila. I smiled and played along while eating breakfast.
"No wonder why you were acted strange last night!" grandpa said coming into the kitchen. "Finally made it all the way with Lila, eh Arnold?" he said. "Just don't make any mistakes. You're still a junior in high school."
"We haven't gone all the way yet. We were just hanging out in my room. That's all." I explained. As the subject was already uncomfortable enough, I did not want to go any further. The only intention I had was to let everyone forget about it, so I excused myself to go to my room and eat breakfast.
I sent a text to Helga after I returned back to my room explaining that we should talk the first chance we get.
