Chapter 13: He Woke Up!
Aliyah absent mindedly drew in her pad while picking her food and waiting for Emma and Mary Margaret. Henry was waiting beside her anxiously.
"Don't worry Henry, they will be here." She said, glancing up at him.
"I think something happened."
"Yeah, what?"
Henry looked back at her and shrugged. "I don't know. My mom received a call last night, and she left in a hurry this morning."
"Hmm, she is the mayor." Aliyah replied, going back to her picture.
Henry looked away from the door and glanced at Aliyah. "What are you drawing?" he asked, peaking over her shoulder.
"Honestly, I don't know. It just came to me last night." She stopped to look at it, giving Henry a full view. It was a man in full regal clothing and a start of a woman.
Even though Aliyah wasn't finished, Henry could tell who they were. "Your drawing Prince Charming and Snow White! Yours and Emma's parents. It looks to be in their wedding garment." He looked at her with excitement.
She looked at him and back at the drawing. "Henry, how can you be so sure?"
"This must be Snow White. Who else would it be? She looks exactly like Ms. Blanchard."
Aliyah rolled her eyes. "Kid, I just saw her. Many artists use inspiration from their life."
"But you never saw John Doe." Henry pointed to the scarring Aliyah just added. "You even have his scar on Prince Charming's face."
"Lots of people have scars."
"Not in the same place and you never went through the book."
Aliyah shook her head. "I only saw the pictures you showed me with Emma. That doesn't mean anything."
"But the wedding outfits, you never saw them."
Aliyah looked at the drawing and back at Henry before noticing Emma heading their way, fidgeting. Aliyah tried to hide her smile. "Nice shirt."
Emma glared at her. "Is this your mother's?" She looked at Henry.
"Isn't it obvious?" Aliyah started giggling.
"I needed a shirt. You could have washed mine with yours."
"Yeah, I could have, but I don't know your system and couldn't figure out what was clean and dirty." Aliyah looked at Emma. "They all smelt and looked wrinkled."
Emma ignored her and looked back at Henry. "She'll never notice." He stated.
"Where does she think you are, anyway?"
"Playing whac-a-mole."
"And she bought that?"
Aliyah, losing interest in her drawing, flipped her tablet closed and continued munching on her pancakes.
"She wants to believe it, so she does." Henry answered nonchalantly.
"Imagine that."
"You could have just said the diner to read or talk to me about the upcoming classes I'm doing."
Henry looked at Aliyah. "Didn't think of that."
Aliyah smiled before hearing the bell go off. She looked up and motioned for the person to come over. "She's here." Aliyah told the two, then leaned over at Henry. "Don't get your hopes up. We're just getting started, and no one said it would be easy."
Henry nodded and looked at Ms. Blanchard.
"He woke up."
Emma looked at her in disbelief. "What?"
Henry grinned and looked at Aliyah. "I knew it."
"I mean, he didn't 'wake up' wake up, but he grabbed my hand."
"That's a start." Aliyah stated with a shrug.
"He's remembering!"
Emma looked at the two before looking at Mary Margret. "What did the doctor say?"
Mary Margret sighed and sat down next to Henry. "That I imagined it, but I'm not crazy. I know it happened."
"My mom said that's what happened with me a few times." The three glanced at Aliyah as she took a sip of her tea. "Meaning you felt it happen."
"We have to go back. You have to read to him again," Henry stated. His excitement building.
"Let's go." Mary Margret catching Henry's excitement.
"Wait, wait what?" Emma looked at Aliyah, confused, silently asking her for help. Aliyah shrugged, giving her a smirk in reply.
"If I got through to him, if we made a connection…"
"You don't believe…" Aliyah looked at Mary Margret with a tilt of her head. "That he's Prince Charming?"
"Well," Mary Margret looked at Henry, then to Aliyah. "of course not. Somehow, someway, I touched him."
Aliyah leaned over the table, grabbing her sketch book and bag. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go."
