Next morning Kai woke up in bed to find himself alone, Nya was already up and gone and there's light entering through the window.

He frowned slightly, he didn't like waking up alone.

Looking around he sat at the edge of the bed and yawn before noticing a pile of neatly folded clothes at the edge of Nya mattress.

It were the clothes they picked up yesterday.

He rubbed his eyes before starting to change out of the impromptu pijamas he had used, while changing he took notice that the clothes had been stitched, making it easier for them to fit him though they were still quite big for him, ending up with a baggy look.

Fortunately for him he did have shoes his size so it shouldn't be a problem.

As he put them in and walked outside the room he noticed pretty much everyone was up and around, making him wonder what time is it.

It's bright outside so it should be at least past seven or eight, maybe close to nine.

Still not knowing the layout of the ship made him walk aimlessly for a few minutes until he found the steps to go outside.

Soon he found himself at the Bounty's deck, the sun was hard on his eyes and it huters a bit, making him blink a few times.

He was surprised to see everyone fighting... Well fighting wouldn't be the word, because they were training.

Kai decided to keep his distance.

Choosing to just watch for the moment and sit in one of the ship sides, using a wooden box as a seat, is not long before one of them takes notice of him.

Cole.

"Ah hey! Good Morning Firecracker!"

The kid blinks, confused, but waves as a greeting.

"Oh hey! Morning!"

Jay, who is currently his sparring partner parrots.

Kai waves as something else catches his eyes and decided to walk to the far side of the ship up, on path to the poopdeck.

Either no one noticed him or decided to just let him do his things because he reached the place without problem.

Precariously he got on top of one of the barrels and poked his head out of one of the rails, looking down and letting the wind ruffle his hair.

He closed his eyes and leaned forward.

"Hey! Wait!"

Before he can get his head inside or turn around there's a couple of hands on his shoulders.

Kai yelps, surprised as he's pulled from the rail roughly.

Spooked he squirms on the hold and more footsteps are heard.

Finally he feels whoever was holding him let go and he bolts towards the first familiar figure he sees, Nya.

Nya watched as her brother hid behind her before glaring at Jay.

"Uhm, what happened?" Lloyd scratched his head, confused, and equally curious Zane right behind him.

"The spawn decided it was a good Idea to just stick his head out, you know, with us staying hundred of meters above land?!"

Kai glared at him despite feeling the eyes of all the others beinh on him, suddenly he felt a hand on his face ruffling his hair, he looked up just to find Nya looking back.

"Kai, don't do that, you're well aware if you fall no one would be able to catch you"

Kai rolled his eyes but nodded anyways.

"See Jay you didn't have to scare him"

"I just saved him and this is my thanks?"

"Right, thank you Jay" She smiled warmly at him.

Happy he puffed his chest out. "You're welcome"

Nya walked over to give him a kiss on the cheek, if Jay had a tail it would be wagging happily.

Kai scoffed while the rest let out a groan, bored, Kai decided to just go back down and probably raid the kitchen, he hasnt had breakfast afterall.

Apparently the Ninjas were now keeping and eye on him because he didn't go far before being questioned.

"Where are you going?"

He looked up to see Zane, pale blue eyes fixated on him.

He made a motion with his hand as if he was eating something.

Zane blinked. "Ah, let me accompany you then"

Kai glared at him but let him walk with him back inside while the rest of the team packed their training stuff up, while making fun of the lovebirds... Just a little bit.

Kai sat down in the same spot as yesterday, the one besides Nya's sit and rested his hands on the table, looking at the Nindroid as if expecting to just be served food.

"I apologize" Begins Zane "I fear we don't have anything prepared for you, but I can certainly make you something"

Kai tilts his head.

"We don't have much actually" He continues "But I think I can make you some pancakes, would you like that?"

The kid shakes his head before pointing something, the ice elemental turns to find a couple of eggs.

"Eggs?"

Kai nods.

"Scrambled eggs?"

He nods again.

"Alright, then wait there please"

As Zane makes the scrambles eggs he heard something move behind him who he guesses is probably Kai.

He's proven right when through his peripheral he finds a small brown dot.

Soon enough said dot is besides him, looking at him cook.

Zane doesn't say anything, instead moving a bit to make more room for Kai, both staying silent as Zane finished the simple meal.

Once he had served it to Kai he handed him the plate, not knowing if Kai had retained his fire resistance he still warned him about it being hot.

The child nodded and sat back down, eating the eggs.

Zane moved to clean the dishes, hearing all the other make ruckus on the living room, probably playing videogames or something.

He hummed as he cleaned, losing himself in his small world for a moment.

Moment that was suddenly broke as the brown spot appeared on his vision again and watched as Kai got closer, putting his dishes on the sink and just... Standing there.

Zane blinked, confused, he was a five year old so he was expecting for him to just go run off and join the rest, is not like he was bothered by doing the chores, he actually found them pleasant.

As Kai kept staring the white ninja squirmed a bit, before finally addressing him.

"May you perhaps, want to help me?"

Zane had to admit he was actually surprised when Kai's eyes shone and he nodded quickly.

Passing him a towel to dry and getting him on a stool both fell into a comfortable silence, Zane humming and Kai humming along once he found the pattern.

"Making him do chores already?"

Zane turned around to find Jay, who had just entered the kitchen, before anything else could happen there was a crashing sound behind him and he turned around to find the source.

Kai had dropped a plate.

The kid seemed surprised and nervous, and looked up with wide eyes as if expecting to be scolded.

Quickly Zane moved on to carry him, earning a surprise yelp Zane as Jay moved to grab the broom from the closet on the hallway.

As Jay swept Zane turned to see the kid clinging to him, Face hidden on the crook of the neck, avoiding his eyes.

The ice ninja rubbed his back and felt him shiver.

Right, he was cold.

Despite that Kai didn't move.

"Hey" He started softly "Are you hurt?"

Kai still didn't look up but he shook his head, Zane was able to feel it.

That was good, now if only he would look up, it had been an accident after all, is not like he was gonna be grounded or screamed at.

As Jay finished he shot a look towards Zane, questioning him about Kai.

The nindroid shrugged slightly, a silent "I don't know" being thrown out there.

Fortunately that's when Cole decided to enter the kitchen.

"Hey Zaptrap what's-"

The other two turned around to see him.

"Is... Everyone alright?"

"Were alright, Kai accidentally dropped a plate" At the mention of his name the kid just hugged Zane tighter.

"Ah well, nothing major, don't worry little firefly, Jay has broken way more things than that"

"Hey" Jay bristled.

"Well, did you even check what I asked you?"

"Can't you see I got busy? You really have Rocks for brains"

Cole scoffed, a smile on his face.

While still carrying Kai Zane addressed Cole.

"What are you searching for?"

"Oh just, snacks or something like that"

The Ice Ninja blinked "Oh. I'm afraid we don't have any"

He heard a "Ugh, seriously?" from behind but decided to ignore it.

"Ah, I guess it makes sense considering we really haven't been on the bounty in months"

Kai moved a bit, probably to look around and Zane readjusted his hold slightly., the hug had loosened a bit.

"Well, we're low on rations anyway, why do t we go shopping?"

He could felt the fire elemental eyes on him.

"Ugh shopping?"

"Is that or just eating eggs until we run out"

"Fine, fine" Whined Jay "I'll go tell Nya and Lloyd" And with that he left.

With humour in his eyes Cole watched Jay leave before getting close to them and attempting to pat Kai on the head.

Said kid almost bite him.

"Woah someone is feral today uh? You aren't hurt are you"

Zane felt Kai shake his head before starting to lower him to the ground.

Reluctantly the kid let go and looked up to both of them.

This time Cole successfully patted him and Kai hissed.

"C'mon little guy, if you behave I'll buy you something, now let's get going before Jay gets too impatient"

As he watched Cole leave the kitghen Kai took Zames hand and pulled to his side both walking towards the door.

Zane couldn't help but smile warmly.
