Nya took on the sight as she walked behind the Ninja group. Jay, Cole Lloyd and Kai were currently walking in front of her while Zane was was currently walking besides her.

Pixal had chosen to stay back at the ship. "Just in case" she said.

They were at a port, having docked in the first city they had come across and that was fairly close to Ninjago city, but the trip would still take hours to a day to reach their home so the group unanimously decided to do a full grocery run instead of a few things as they had originally planned.

The breeze and the smell of the sea was something Nya had always found comforting (Wonder why) so she enjoyed her time walking slowly through the docks, Zane on the other hand seemed to be deep in thought but when they locked gazes the Nindroid smiled at her.

Whatever was bothering him wasn't something to address immediately so she let him be for the moment.

Nya took her time as she watched her siblings enjoy the day.

It was early on the afternoon, there were some fluffy white coulds on the otherwise clear and bright blue sky.

Kai was currently sitting above Cole's shoulders, happily laying with the earth master locks, looking around him with a sense of wonder Nya can only describe as "childish".

But not childish in a bad way, on the contrary, something only a kid would be able to feel and convey, it kind of reminded her of the old days back when Lloyd was a kid, when she first shown him the Samurai X armor in secret.

It was nice to see Kai smile.

At first when they had docked he had refused to go down to the docks despite earlier showing no fear when almost hanging out the ship meters above the deep ocean.

Anyone would've thought that the idea of hanging hundred of meters above deep water would be incredibly scary, especially for a kid, especially for a kid that isn't know how to swim.

But Kai wasn't.

He was more scared of the water than the thought of plummeting to his death and the worst part was probably that Nya wasn't the slightless surprised about it.

Go figure. That's how Kai is.

As Jay and Lloyd tried to make Kai laugh everyone eventually reached the market section, most of the vendors where selling fish (quite obviously if you were to ask her) but there was a decent amount of other stuff to buy such as fruits, vegetables and even some toys for the kids.

If you were to ask Kai what he thought about the place he would say it stink but then he would smile in a way a five year old shouldn't.

It was an almost nostalgic smile, as if he was remembering something from a past time.

But that's the thing, he can't exactly remember, or at least nothing specific.

There's stuff that feels familiar sure, and thoughts and believes he isn't sure where they came from, but that are there, rooted deeply inside his own being.

It was weird, but if he was being honest there wasn't much he could do about it either so he just let it be.

Better to enjoy his first day out.

The boy let out a yelp as he felt himself be slightly pushed up as Cole made a jump.

He knew he wasn't gonna fall but that didn't avoid him hiding Cole's hair just a little tighter.

If it hurt the black ninja didn't say anything.

"So~" Lloyd sang as he got in front of the group, walking backwards with not a care on the world of what was behind him.

"We're not getting sweets Lloyd"

The green Ninja face fell, almost immediately being reached by a pout and puppy eyes Kai couldn't help but laugh at.

There was a loud sound before a whiny voice came out of the tall teen.

"Why not?!"

There was a scoff besides them and Kai turned around to see Jay smirk and roll his eyes, as if this was just an everyday occurrence, may e it was.

"Because" pipped in Cole "We have a budget and we're here for a quick grocery trip, only essentials"

"Sweets are essentials"

"Definitely not"

Lloyd just glared at Jay while Kai decided to just see the two siblings bicker while he shifted himself in a way he could rest his head on Cole's hair.

As the other two bickered Cole tried to get the current youngest attention.

"You okay up there?"

Kai hummed, letting his arms fall fkat on both sides of Cole's head, the earth ninja seemed to be fine with his answer.

"Cool, if you see something you want let me know 'Kay? I know we told Lloyd no sweets but this can be a secret between us"

Kai didn't need to move to know Cole was smiling.

Fortunately for them Jay and Lloyd kept on bickering, ignoring the rest of the gang as Nya and Zane caught up.

"Okay well" Zane got a list out of... Thin air?

What.

Kai blinked.

Now there were two lists.

Okay.

"We've two lists, Nya and I are getting the fruits and vegetables" Because Zane knew damn well they would get picky if they were handed that list.

"You four can get the rest"

Jay took the list and Kai peeked over, he couldn't read but he was still curious.

"So we get meat, fish and a few extras?"

"Mhm"

"Can the extras be sweets?"

"Lloyd"

"What?! You can't just say no! You were the one that went onto the kitchen searching for snacks!"

"Yeah but if we buy sweets they're gonna be gone by tomorrow!"

"They won't! I promise! Besides, Kai also wants sweets!"

"Hey don't drag him onto this!"

"Kai! Kai! You want sweets too right?!"

"No Kai-"

Kai deviously nodded from his place, smiling sweetly at Jay whose face fell onto despair as he tried to maneuver not one but two kids.

"Please, listen-"

He tried again but it was too late as Lloyd had already left for the closest tent that was selling sweets.

Cole just laughed as Jay whined.

"Sorry Zaptrap but we lost the battle this time"

Jay sighed as he took another glance at the list, groaning before following their team leader.

In insight they probably should've brought some caps or something to at least cover them from the sun.

Maybe an umbrella, Something he or someone else could hold up to make shade while Cole carried Kai who seemed unbithered by the burning sun, he had to wonder that even if his powers had gone dormant again (probably because of the age) they were passively working on the background.

Because of that wasn't the case then he didn't know how the kid hadn't complained yet.

Now on the other hand everyone else seemed to be fine, maybe it was just Cole who was suffering.

Then again he was the only one carrying a five year old above his shoulders.

He sighed slightly, shifting Kai a bit just so he wouldn't fall off, it seemed the kid was a bit restless at least in Cole eyes and not for the first time he had to wonder what was going on in his head.

He didn't seem to remember anything and his behaviour was far from the Kai they knew but at the same time he could tell that was Kai just another facet of him.

The kid above him squirmed again and the earth ninja decided to give up, without saying anything he hoisted up the young fire master, feeling him stiff from the action before carefully letting him down on the floor.

Kai looked back, curious but also smiling as if he was saying "Thank you" before taking off to catch with the rest.

Cole stretched a bit, hearing his back pop before following him closely, he didn't want to lose him amongst the growing crowd.

Kai took Lloyd hands who jumped a bit on surprise before looking down to find the culprit.

He smiled warmly at the kid and squeezed his hand on his own.

"Hey Kai!" He chirped happily. "Want something?"

Kai shook his head, if he was being honest he was comfortable just following the group when doing errands, as long as he wasn't left alone he was okay.

Lloyd hummed as he took Kai to another stall, it was full of candies and Kai couldn't help but get interested on them.

The green Ninja laughed slightly as he too saw over the candies, as if trying to decided who he one to pick, far away he cod hear Jay negotiating with someone the price of salmon with Ce backing him up, which meant he and Kai were safe to take just a few candies and slip them onto the grocery bag.

Good thing he had brought some of his own money.

It just took them a moment to pick something, Lloyd got a small bag of chocantes while Kai picked some spicy pinneaple, Lloyd decided to not question him.

Just as they were paying Lloyd noticed something.

"Ugh, I'm short, wait here for a second" And Lloyd left, probably to bother Jay for a bit more money.

See, Kai was an obedient kid, usually.

This time however he saw something that caught his attention it was just two stalls away, it seemed like a samurai helmet and the fire elemental felt compelled to check it out, why? He wasn't just had to.

He turned around to see Lloyd whine and beg to Jay while Cole watched with a smirk on his eyes because it was obvious Jay was losing the battle.

Kai smiled, turning again back to where the stall with the Samurai helmet was.

Deciding it would just be a quick trip and he would be back soon he decided to leave the spot Lloyd had instructed.

He skipped until he reached the other stall, turning around to see that his view of his previous spot was almost null thanks to the amount of people around.

That was fine, he could find his way back, besides, he was sure he could hear Cole, Jay and Lloyd.

He looked over to the Samurai helmet just to be disappointed once he noticed it was made out of plastic.

He wasn't even sure what was he expecting, but it made him feel disappointed nonetheless.

Sighing he noticed he couldn't hear the guys anymore.

Kai turned around and to his horror the other three were gone, not only that, he couldnt find his previous spot either.

When did the market fill with so much people?!

All he could see were legs and faces he didn't recognize.

Panic started to arise, he felt as if he was on the jungle again, alone and lost even though his brain told him the others would soon notice and come back for him.

But the thing is, at the moment he was alone, he didn't want to be.

Swallowing the panic he walked around, trying to find a path that wasn't there.

He tried to calm himself.

He had to find a solution after all.

If he can't find Cole, Zane and Lloyd maybe he could find Zane and Nya, yeah, that's a good plan.

Keeping his eyes and head up trying to find anyone of the others or at least recognize something.

That was probably his mistake, never noticing that as he walked he got closer and closer to the edge of the port.

If Kai was being honest he felt a bit frustrated with himself, he was a big kid and while he vaguely remembers doing a bunch of stuff back in Ignacia, he knew gettingnlostnin a market wasn't one of them.

So getting distracted and then lost on one? Yeah that was pretty dumb.

Especially since he was aware he didn't know this place.

He scoffed, slightly annoyed at himself.

For a moment, caught on his self-loathing and now not even paying attention to the people around him he bumped into some adults, they didn't seem to pay attention to the kid, maybe thinking he was a local doing some errands.

Which is why probably no one batted an eye when he was accidentally pushed a bit too close to the edge.

Just to be pushed onto the water as he tried to regain his balance one last time.

He desperately tried to grab onto someone or something as his body was embraced by the water, he tried to grab onto the ledge one last time yet his head ended up being submerged thanks to the light waves of the coast.

Surprised he desperately tried to swim up and keep his head above water.

But he didn't know how to swim and with horror he remembered the others didn't know where he was and no one around seemed to notice him either.

It felt like a deja-vĂș and as water got into his mouth panic raised.

He wanted to scream for his mom.

But he couldn't.

Suddenly, as quickly as he got into the water he was pulled out of it and strong arms hugged him and he was left coughing and gasping on the docks.

For a brief moment he was back at Ignacia, being pulled out of a river as farmers pooled around him and his mother.

And then, he was back at the docks, he wasn't in Ignacia and he wasn't being held by his mother.

Water pooled around his eyes and he sniffled.

"Is okay, you're okay, we're here"

The words were repeated again and again until he felt he could properly breath, clutching the shirt of whoever was holding him.

Cole.

As he slowly was grounded he noticed there was people around them, everyone seemed to be worried about him.

He hold onto Cole tighter, hiding in face on Cole's shoulder, he didn't want all the attention.

He didn't want their pity either.

He felt hands run through his wet hair and vaguely he could decipher they were Jay's.

A soft voice broke through the silence, it sounded young and childish itself."

" Hey, are you okay?"

Kai only nodded from his spot but didn't move.

He just wanted to sleep.

There was a sigh and he felt himself be lifted up.

"C'mon, let's go back to the bounty"

"First we have to find Nya and Zane"

"I don't think we need to"

He signaled to some spot a bit farther, shifting his position a bit Kai was able to spot Nya and Zane hurrying towards the now dispersing mass of people, both seemed scared, especially Nya.

"What happened?!"

"I... We don't know, Kai fell onto the water"

Kai clutched shirt tighter, a bit bitter because he didn't fall, he was pushed and no one even seemed to notice.

Nya muttered under her breath before reaching for Kai, Zane stood there, scanning him.

Kai knew Nya wasn't his mom, no matter how much she resembled her she wasn't his mom.

But on the other hand, it reminded him of her mom.

So when she reached out he let go out of Cole's embrace and practically melted on Nya's.

Hugging her by the neck he rested there, enjoying the protectiveness of it.

"Well, I guess should go back to the bounty" Cole broke the silence.

"Do we have everything?"

Zane nodded, lifting up a couple of bags full fo food.

"Alright then, let's go back to the bounty" and with that Lloyd lead the smajll group back to the ship.
