Please enjoy the new chapter.

Chapter 9 - Spider-Verse Part 2

Their bodies began to disintegrate, making them fall to the ground. Unable to move, Octavius caught up to them. Miles watched in horror as she took the file away when she was attacked by another person who webbed her up, knocked her out, and took the files back. The attacker landed next to a tree to see Naruto, Peter, and Miles looking rough. She took off her mask and said, "Hey fellas."

Naruto went wide-eyed. "Gwen?"

Gwen looked at Naruto, her eyes narrowing in recognition. "Do I know you?" she asked, puzzled.

Naruto quickly understood. "You're another Spider-Man from another dimension... well, Spider-Woman."

Miles, still catching his breath, blurted out, "Gwanda!" He then added shyly, "I like your hair."

Gwen smirked. "It wasn't really a choice…"

Peter, feeling left out, demanded, "Just who are you?"

Gwen explained, "I was fighting Dr. Octavius when a portal opened up and I ended up in this dimension."

Naruto nodded, understanding. "Similar to what happened with me."

Gwen looked between them. "So, we're all stuck here until we can figure this out?"

Peter sighed. "Well, we need to figure out how to get back to our own dimensions. But first, we need to download everything onto a new goober."

As Everyone nodded as they decided to find a place to regroup and plan their next move, they ended up on a bus heading back to Queens. Naruto, Peter, Miles, and Gwen settled into their seats, the hum of the bus engine providing a backdrop to their conversation.

Miles, looking a bit overwhelmed by everything, turned to Naruto. "So, what's it like being Spider-Man in your world?" he asked, his voice filled with curiosity.

Naruto leaned back, a small smile playing on his lips. "It's a lot of responsibility, you know? Balancing school, family, and saving the day... it gets crazy. But I wouldn't trade it for anything."

Gwen, who had been listening in, joined the conversation. "I get that. In my dimension, I'm Spider-Woman. It's tough, but also kind of amazing. You learn to manage somehow."

Naruto nodded. "Yeah, exactly. And sometimes, it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, but knowing you're making a difference keeps you going."

Peter, sitting a bit apart from the group, watched them with a smile. He felt a sense of pride seeing these younger heroes connect over their shared experiences. It reminded him of his own early days as Spider-Man.

Miles, still trying to wrap his head around everything, asked, "Do you ever wish you could just be normal?"

Naruto thought for a moment before answering. "Sometimes. But then I remember all the people I've helped, all the lives I've saved. It makes it worth it."

Gwen added, "And it's not just about us. It's about inspiring others, showing them that they can make a difference too."

As the bus continued its journey through the streets of New York, the three young heroes shared more stories, finding common ground in their extraordinary lives. Peter listened, feeling a renewed sense of hope and determination. They might come from different dimensions, but they were united in their mission to stop Fisk and the collider, and to protect their respective worlds.

When they finally reached Queens, they had a clearer sense of camaraderie and purpose.

It was still snowing as the winter coldness bit into Naruto's skin. He started to wonder about everyone back at home. Was MJ worried for him? What about Tsunade? Mr. Stark? Or even his best friend Peter? Was everyone okay? Just how much time had passed?

While Naruto was in his own mind, the group was thinking about the best place to go and make another passkey. Gwen suggested the best place to go would be to this world's Spider-Man's home. Peter B. Parker, visibly uneasy, sighed, "I'm so not ready for this."

Eventually, they found themselves at the doorstep of the Parker residence. Before anyone could hesitate, Gwen stepped up and rang the doorbell. Aunt May appeared, clearly expecting another round of fan mail deliveries. "No more fan mail, guys, it's late," she began, but her words trailed off as she locked eyes with an older version of Peter. She stepped closer, her eyes wide with recognition and disbelief.

Peter, looking equally unsure, managed a sheepish smile. "Hey, Aunt May."

Aunt May's gaze softened with a mix of sadness and wonder. "You look tired," she said gently.

Peter chuckled awkwardly. "Yeah, it's been... a long journey."

Noticing Peter's attire, Aunt May quipped, "Are those sweatpants?"

Naruto couldn't help but add, "Yeah, he's getting on a bit." Peter punched him lightly on the arm, a joking gesture that eased the tension slightly.

Miles, feeling the weight of the moment, stepped forward. "I'm really sorry for what happened. I was there when Spider-Man... when he was killed."

Aunt May, her expression becoming more focused, asked, "What dimension are you from?"

"Brooklyn," Miles replied, prompting Gwen and Naruto to stifle their laughter.

Peter then showed Aunt May the destroyed flash drive. "We need to make a new one. Any idea where we can do that?"

Aunt May's demeanor shifted, becoming more serious. "Come with me," she said, turning to lead them into the house.

They followed Aunt May through the familiar halls of the Parker home. Memories of a different life filled Peter's mind, and the sight of family photos and Spider-Man memorabilia tugged at his heart.

Aunt May led them to the garden, scanning her hand against a hidden panel. A door opened, revealing a lift that descended underground. As they stepped off the lift, they were greeted by the sight of this world's Spider-Man's cave. The space was filled with advanced technology and various vehicles, including a motorbike and a spider car. Naruto and Miles were visibly amazed, acting like kids in a candy store.

Peter B. Parker, attempting to sound nonchalant, said, "I have all this in my world."

Gwen raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Sure you do."

As they stepped off the lift, Naruto and Peter drifted toward the display case holding a photo of MJ. The soft glow of the display case illuminated their faces, reflecting the pain and longing in their eyes.

Naruto took a deep breath, breaking the silence. "MJ broke up with me before I ended up here," he said, his voice trembling slightly. "It feels like a part of me is gone forever."

Peter nodded, his eyes fixed on the photo of his own MJ. "Yeah, I understand," he replied, his voice heavy with regret. "In my world, MJ divorced me and moved out. It's all my fault."

Naruto turned to look at Peter, a hint of desperation in his eyes. "How do you deal with it, Peter? The constant feeling that you've lost something you can never get back?"

Peter sighed, his shoulders sagging. "Honestly, Naruto, I haven't figured that out yet. I tried to drown myself in work, in being Spider-Man, but it never fills the void. I keep thinking about what I could have done differently, how I could have been better for her."

Naruto looked down, his hands clenched into fists. "I just feel so helpless sometimes. Like no matter what I do, it's never enough. I want to protect everyone, but I keep losing the people I care about."

Peter placed a reassuring hand on Naruto's shoulder. "It's a tough balance, being Spider-Man and trying to live a normal life. But remember, we do what we do because we care. That's what makes us who we are."

Naruto nodded slowly, taking in Peter's words. "I guess you're right. We can't change the past, but we can keep moving forward, trying to do better."

Peter smiled, a hint of pride in his eyes. "Exactly. And you're not alone in this, Naruto. We've got each other, and now we've got this whole team of Spider-People. We'll figure it out together."

Their moment of camaraderie was interrupted by Aunt May's voice. "It's good everyone is here," she said, her tone serious. "You didn't think you were the only ones who decided to come here, did you?"

Naruto and Peter turned to see three more Spider-People emerging from the shadows. They stepped forward, each one embodying a different version of Spider-Man.

The first to introduce herself was Peni Parker. "Hi, I'm Peni Parker, and this is SP/dr," she said, pointing to her mech suit. She began to explain how she ended up in this dimension.

Next was Spider-Man Noir. He stepped forward, his trench coat flapping as if caught in an invisible wind. "My name is Peter Parker. I fight crime in my world, a world without color. Sometimes, I let a match burn down to my fingertips just to feel something, anything."

Peter B. Parker couldn't help but comment. "How is there wind down here? We're underground."

Noir responded, his voice full of mystique. "Wherever I go, the wind follows."

Peter sighed. "Great, can this get any weirder?"

That's when the last figure stepped into the light. It was Spider-Ham, a walking, talking pig. He approached them, saying, "It can get weirder. My names Peter Porker."

Spider-Ham explained how he ended up in this world, leaving Miles and Naruto both in shock at the sight of a walking, talking pig.

Now with everyone assembled, their collective spider senses began to tingle. They looked at each other and, almost in unison, said, "They're just like me."

The group felt an overwhelming sense of camaraderie. Despite their differences, they were all connected by a shared destiny and a common enemy. It was a moment of unity and resolve, a prelude to the challenges they would face together.

Naruto approached Peni with a grin. "Hey, you're from Japan too? That's so cool! I'm Naruto Uzumaki, by the way."

Peni smiled back, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Nice to meet you, Naruto. I'm Peni Parker. And this is SP/dr," she said, patting the large robot beside her. "It's not often I meet another Spider-Person who can speak Japanese."

Switching to Japanese, Naruto laughed. "Yeah, really! I can't believe there's another Spider perosn from Japan."

Peni's eyes widened with delight. "I know, right! It's kind of comforting to have someone who speaks Japanese."

Their conversation caught the attention of the others, who looked on with a mix of curiosity and confusion. Peter, trying to keep up, nudged Gwen. "What are they saying?"

Gwen shrugged, equally lost. "I have no idea, but they seem to be hitting it off."

Naruto and Peni continued their animated exchange, sharing stories about their experiences as Spider-people. Peni explained how she bonded with the SP/dr suit, the special connection she had with the robot, and how they fought together to protect their city.

Naruto listened intently, his respect for Peni growing with each word. "That's an amazing story. The bond between you and SP/dr is really special."

Peni nodded, her expression turning serious. "Thank you, Naruto. But with great power comes great responsibility, and sometimes the pressure is overwhelming."

Naruto's eyes softened with understanding. "I understand. I feel the same way sometimes. That's why it's so reassuring to have all of us working together like this."

Their conversation was interrupted by Peter clearing his throat, trying to regain some semblance of leadership. "Hey, you two! We need to focus on the plan here."

Naruto and Peni exchanged amused glances before turning back to the group. "Got it, Peter," Naruto said, switching back to English. "But just so you know, Peni here has some pretty awesome stories."

Peni grinned, giving Naruto a thumbs-up. "Yeah, and I bet you do too, Naruto."

Peter rolled his eyes playfully. "Great, now we've got Spider-Buddies. Just remember, we've got a mission to complete."

As they all went over the plan, The realization that one of them would have to stay behind to destroy the collider weighed heavily on everyone. They all began to argue about who would make the sacrifice when Miles stepped forward, his voice firm and resolute.

"You guys can't," Miles said, his eyes filled with determination.

Everyone fell silent, their attention solely on Miles. When their bodies beginning to disintegrate, their molecules destabilizing, making them all fall to the ground.

"You guys don't get it," Miles continued. "None of you can stay here. If you stay here, you'll die. I'm the guy who's gonna turn it off. And I'm gonna get you all home before I do. Look, I made a promise. So I have to keep it."

Peni, still trying to understand, asked, "Who is he again?"

Peter and Naruto, now fully invested in their newfound protégé, replied in unison, "This is Miles."

"And he's gonna save the multiverse," Peter added, pride evident in his voice.

"Yeah, man. This kid can turn himself invisible. Watch this," Naruto said, nudging Miles forward.

Miles looked embarrassed. "I can't do it on command."

Naruto chuckled. "He can't do it on command."

"But it is cool. Show 'em the zappy thing," Peter urged.

Miles shook his head, looking a bit frustrated. "Can't do it on command."

Peter sighed. "He can't do it on command. But he can do so much more."

"What else do you do?" Peni asked, curiosity piqued.

Miles hesitated. "Just those two things."

Peter, trying to lighten the mood, said, "Just those two things. Aw, man."

Naruto stepped forward, his voice filled with confidence. "Look, I've seen him in action. He's got potential."

Miles's heart pounded in his chest. Around him, in a wide and intimidating circle, stood all the spider people. Their expressions were serious, their eyes fixed on him with a mix of scrutiny and expectation.

Gwen was the first to step forward. Her eyes, sharp and piercing through her mask, locked onto his. "What makes you think you can wear the mask, Miles?" she asked, her voice stern and unwavering.

Miles swallowed hard, trying to muster an answer, but his voice caught in his throat. Before he could speak, Peni Parker and her SP/dr robot moved closer, their combined presence formidable. "Do you even know what it means to be Spider-Man?" Peni's voice was firm, almost mechanical, as if the words were rehearsed.

Miles opened his mouth, but no sound came out. His silence was cut short by Spider-Man Noir, who stepped forward, his black-and-white figure casting a long shadow. "It's more than a costume, kid. It's a responsibility," Spider-Man Noir said grimly, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Spider-Ham hopped into the circle next, his comical appearance in stark contrast to his serious demeanor. "Do you think you're ready for this?" Spider-Ham asked skeptically.

Miles tried again to speak, but Gwen moved faster. With a swift, well-aimed kick, she sent him sprawling to the ground. "Always get back up!" she commanded, her voice cutting through the silence.

Groaning, Miles pushed himself to his knees, every movement a struggle. Before he could stand, the SP/dr robot's metal hands gripped his shoulders, hurling him across the room. He crashed into a pile of crates, wood splintering around him. "Always get back up!" Peni's voice echoed through the cave, colder than before.

Pain shot through Miles as he struggled to his feet, only to see Spider-Man Noir approaching. Noir delivered a punch to his gut, doubling him over and knocking the wind out of him. "Always get back up," Noir said, his voice as grave as a tombstone.

Miles coughed, his breath coming in ragged gasps, but Spider-Ham was already there, slapping him across the face with an oversized gloved hand. "Always get back up!" Spider-Ham's tone was firm, leaving no room for failure.

Miles hit the floor hard, pain radiating through his body. He looked up, his vision blurry, seeing the silhouettes of the other Spider-People standing over him. He tried to push himself up, his arms trembling, but they gave out.

Peter stepped forward, his expression one of disappointment. "You gotta get back up, Miles," he said, the weight of his words pressing down on Miles's battered form.

Miles lay there, panting, unable to rise. The others exchanged glances, their faces a mixture of frustration and concern. Gwen stepped forward, crouching down beside him. "Come on, Miles. We need you to get back up," she said, her voice softening, a hint of compassion breaking through her stern exterior.

Drenched in sweat and struggling with every breath, Miles looked into her eyes, feeling the immense weight of their expectations. He closed his eyes, trying to summon the strength, but his body refused to comply.

Naruto watched unsure how to help. He knew Miles needed this to learn but didn't know how to help him. If he wasn't ready, then he wasn't ready.

The Spider-People stood in silence, their faces reflecting a mix of disappointment and a glimmer of hope that he would find the strength within himself. For a moment, the cave was filled with a heavy, suffocating silence, broken only by Miles's labored breathing.

As he turned invisible and left the cave going up the lift, Naruto shouted for Miles to come back, but he left.

Naruto looked at the others, frustration evident on his face. "You all went too far," he said, his voice tight with anger. "Miles is just a kid. We need to help him, not beat him down."

Gwen crossed her arms, her expression stern. "It's the job, Naruto. He has to know that we never give up, no matter how hard it gets."

Peni nodded in agreement. "He isn't ready yet," she said flatly, her mechanical suit whirring softly as she shifted her weight.

Peter stepped forward, a look of understanding in his eyes. "I know Miles is our friend, Naruto, but there comes a point in all of our journeys when we have to make that leap of faith. Miles hasn't made that jump yet."

Deep down, Naruto knew Peter was right. It was a harsh lesson, but it was one they all had to learn. He sighed, his anger giving way to a reluctant acceptance. "I get it," he said quietly. "But we need to make sure he knows we're here for him when he's ready."

The group fell silent, each lost in their own thoughts. After a moment, Peter cleared his throat. "Alright, let's go over the plan."

Naruto listened as Peter outlined their strategy. They needed to infiltrate the collider, shut it down, and find a way back to their respective dimensions. It was a complex plan, filled with risks and uncertainties, but they had no other choice.

"We'll all go as a team," Peter explained. "Kingpin is hosting gala in honor of the fallen Spider-Man. We will use that as a way to get inside."

Naruto nodded, his mind still on Miles. "We need to make sure he knows he's not alone," he said, his voice firm. "No matter what happens, we stick together."

Gwen placed a hand on his shoulder, her expression softening. "We will, Naruto. We'll get through this, together."

The others murmured their agreement, and for the first time since arriving in this dimension, Naruto felt a flicker of hope. They had a plan, and they had each other. Now, all they needed was the courage to see it through.

Naruto took a deep breath and looked at Peni. "In the meantime, Peni, can you work on the passkey?"

Peni nodded, her determination clear. "I'm on it," she replied, already moving toward the workbench.

Naruto pulled his mask back on and turned to Gwen. "I'm going to check on Miles," he said. "Want to come with me?"

Gwen nodded, slipping her own mask into place. "Let's go," she said, joining him as they headed to the lift.

The ride up was silent, both lost in their thoughts. As they stepped outside and began swinging through the city, the cold night air stung their faces. Naruto and Gwen moved in sync, the rhythm of their web-swinging a familiar comfort.

"Where do you think Miles could be?" Gwen asked as they soared between buildings.

Naruto thought for a moment, recalling their earlier conversations. "He mentioned his uncle's house," he said. "Maybe he's there. He did say his uncle was out of town."

Gwen nodded. "Makes sense. Let's head over there."

They changed direction, their movements graceful and swift as they made their way to Miles's uncle's place. The city below them was a blur of lights and sounds, but their focus was solely on finding Miles.

As they approached the neighborhood, Naruto slowed down, scanning the area. "There it is," he said, pointing to a modest apartment building. They landed silently on the fire escape, peering through the window, only to find it empty. Gwen looked around, her brow furrowed with worry. "Where else could he be?" she asked.

Naruto thought for a moment, then his eyes widened with realization. "Maybe at this world's Spider-Man's grave," he suggested. "It's the only other place I can think of."

Gwen nodded in agreement, and they quickly made their way to the cemetery. The night was cold, and a gentle snowfall began to blanket the city. As they swung through the quiet streets, Naruto's mind raced with memories and emotions.

Landing on a nearby rooftop, not too far from Peter's grave, Naruto scanned the area. His heart skipped a beat when he saw a flicker of familiar head hair in the distance. It was a sight he hadn't seen since he was a young boy... the hair of his mother.

Quickly taking off his mask, Naruto looked down from above, tears welling up in his eyes. He saw her face for the first time in years, a face he had nearly forgotten. With a voice trembling with emotion, he whispered, "Mom?"

He was about to jump down when Gwen grabbed his arm, her grip firm. "Naruto, wait. It's not your mom," she cautioned.

Naruto shook his head, his determination unwavering. "I don't care," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I might never get this chance again."

As he landed silently behind the woman, his mother, who was standing in front of the gravestones. His heart pounded in his chest as he saw the names on the graves:

Naruto Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze.

A wave of emotions crashed over him, but he knew he couldn't reveal himself, couldn't give her the pain of seeing her son alive only to leave her again.

With a heavy heart, Naruto put on his mask and took a deep breath. "You shouldn't be out this late miss," he said softly, trying to steady his voice. "It's dangerous."

Kushina turned to face him, her eyes red from crying. "I stopped caring when my husband and son were killed," she said, her voice hollow. She looked at Naruto in his Spider-Man suit, a flicker of recognition in her eyes. "I thought you died," she whispered.

Naruto managed a sad smile behind his mask. "I'm... another Spider-Man," he said. The words felt like a lie, but they were necessary.

Kushina's expression softened. "My son always looked up to Spider-Man," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "He wanted to be just like him."

Naruto felt a pang in his heart, the weight of her words hitting him deeply. "Thank you for all the hard work you do," Kushina said, her voice filled with gratitude. "Keep it up."

Tears welled up in Naruto's eyes, hidden behind his mask. He struggled to keep his composure. "I will," he promised, his voice thick with emotion. "I'll continue to make the world a better place."

Kushina gave him a sad smile, then turned to leave. Naruto watched her walk away, his heart breaking with every step she took. Once she was out of sight, Gwen landed beside him. Seeing Naruto fall to his knees, she placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"You did the right thing," she said gently. "Let's go. We have a mission to complete, and Miles will come when he's ready."

Naruto nodded, wiping the tears from his face beneath the mask. He stood up, his resolve strengthening. "Yeah," he said, his voice firm. "Let's finish this."

With one last look at the gravestones, Naruto and Gwen swung away, determined to complete their mission and honor the memory of those they had lost.
