"Happy birthday, Tiana!" her parents said in unison.

Tiana blew out all ten candles in one go.

"Did you make a wish?" her father asked.

"I wished for you to get your restaurant, Daddy!" Tiana blurted out.

"Tiana, you know you're not supp-" her mother began.

"Oh, hush, Eudora, it's sweet," her father smiled.

"I'm sorry, Mama, I forgot, I'm not supposed to say my wish out loud!" Tiana cried.

"Don't worry about it," her mother insisted. "Besides, your daddy is probably right, it's superstitious nonsense."

He laughed. "Well, as soon as I'm back next year, I'll open your restaurant!"
