Chapter 6: Cattle Driving

LaViolaRosa: Thx.

Bloodylilcorpse: Thx, and it could.

MatiasND: Thx, and that's true.

"Last time on Totally Epic: Life on the Farm, the teens competed in a pie eating contest. Everyone stuffed themselves silly, and some lost their cookies or should I say pies? The Tractors took victory with Angie being able to keep her pie down, and beat Reese. The Haystacks ended up voting off Sydney due to her being the first one out in the challenge. What will our contestants do next? Who will be next to leave? Find out now on Totally Epic: Life on the Farm." Monica announced to the audience.

The next day everyone was feeling better after the pie challenge. Quinten was walking when he spotted a couple of ducks and their ducklings.

"Hey, there little ducks." he told them.

They quacked at him.

"You want something to eat?"

He reached into his pocket, and pulled out some crackers. He then began crumbling them up, and threw them to the duck family. As he fed the ducks, Courtney came up behind him.

"Hi, Quinten." she greeted.

Quinten turned back at her, and smiled.

"Hey, Courtney. What's up?" he asked.

"Just walking around. What are you doing?"

"Feeding the ducks. Wanna do it too?"

He held out his hand, offering her the crumbled crackers.

"Sure."

She took some crumbs and started helping Quinten feed the ducks.

"(Squeals) Okay, this is good. I finally have some alone time with Quinten." Courtney told the audience.

The two fed the crackers to the ducks, and chatted a bit.

"So you like playing badminton and tennis? That's cool." Quinten told her.

"Thanks, I could teach you." Courtney replied.

"That would be nice."

Suddenly, Monica's voice came on over some speakers.

"Attention contestants, please report to the barn for your next challenge." she announced.

"We better get going." Quinten said.

"Yeah." Courtney agreed.

And off the two went.

At the barn, everyone was gathered around and waited for Monica's further instructions. As Quinten and Courtney walked up together, Reese took notice.

"Something's going on between Courtney and Quinten. But it better not interfere with the challenges." Reese said.

Then Monica appeared.

"Hello, contestants I hope you're ready for today's challenge because you're going to be doing some traveling." she told.

"Traveling?" asked Angie.

"Yes, for this challenge you'll be cattle driving."

"Cattle driving, what's that?" questioned Sunny.

"Each team will have to lead a small heard of cattle from one field to a different one way across the farm. But you'll have to make sure the cattle stay together, nothing bad happens to them. The first one to the new field wins."

Hailey and Charlotte then appeared.

"Haystacks, Hailey will take you to your cattle, and Tractors, Charlotte will take you to yours."

The two teams then followed each of them, and got ready to start the challenge.

Hailey brought the Haystacks to a small group of cattle. There was one bull, five cows, and four calves.

"Here are your cattle. And here are some ropes to help keep the cattle in line." Hailey told them.

She then handed each of them a rope that was coiled up.

"Good luck."

"Hey wait Hailey. How will we know when we get to the field the cows are supposed to go to?" asked Quinten.

"Don't worry. You'll find us at the new spot." Hailey said, and she walked off.

"Well let's get started." declared Reese.

They carefully put their ropes around the cattle, and led them away.

With Charlotte, she led the Tractors to their cattle.

"Here are your cows everyone." she told.

They had three bulls, four cows, and three calves.

"Here are your ropes, and remember to be gentle with the cows." Charlotte advised.

"Where's the new spot we're supposed to take them?" asked Renni.

"Me, Monica, and Hailey will be waiting there. Good luck."

And she left them to get started. Pepper squeaked at her.

"Hard to say, Pepper. But since the Tractors won the last challenge I hope the Haystacks can pull up." Charlotte told him.

Both teams then got started moving the cattle.

"Well this should be simple." said Sunny.

"Don't get too relaxed, Sunny. Things are just getting started." Reese told her.

The others agreed, and proceeded with caution. With the Tractors, they wanted to get to the spot as quickly as possible.

"All right, which way should we go?" wondered Angie.

"Anyone have any suggestions?" asked Daniel.

They all looked around, and then Zuni suggested they got left.

"Then it's left we go." Daniel declared.

And off they went.

The two teams continued on in different directions. The Haystacks were making progress, when suddenly the cattle stopped.

"Hey, what gives?" asked Reese.

"Come on, you cows." urged Spikke, pulling on the ropes.

But the cows didn't move. They just stood, and started eating the grass.

"I guess they're hungry." observed Courtney.

"Well how long are they gonna eat?" asked Sunny.

"Who knows, but I hope it's quick." said Quinten.

"Just goes to show you, the only thing a cow is good for is milk and meat." said Reese.

With the Tractors their cows were still going.

"(Sighs), how much longer do we have to keep walking?" complained Angie.

"We just started, Angie." Daniel told her.

All the cattle staying together?" he wanted to know.

"We still have them all." informed Zuni.

"Great, let's keep moving."

They walked on, when they came to a little pond.

"You guys thirsty?" Glenn asked the cows.

He got his answer, when the cows started walking over to it.

"We'll let them have a drink and then we keep going." said Daniel.

They all went down to the pond, and let them drink.

"You know, Monica and Hailey said we had to make sure nothing bad happens to the cows. But what could happen to them?" mentioned Renni.

Nobody seemed to have an answer, but little did they know, trouble was slithering up.

The Haystacks' cattle had finished eating their grass and were ready to keep going.

"Finally. Let's keep going." said Reese.

They continued on, but then they came to an obstacle. It was a wide stream with rushing water.

"Well no way to go around this." observed Courtney.

"So we'll have to go through it." declared Reese.

"Oh boy." whispered Sunny.

"Come on, we gotta do this if we want to win this challenge." urged Quinten.

Clutching the ropes tightly, the team led the cattle to the water. They went in, and felt the water rushing past their ankles. It was a bit difficult pulling the cattle through the water, but they managed to get through.

"Well that was simple enough." said Spikke.

"I wonder how the Tractors are doing?" whispered Reese to himself.

Back with the Tractors, they were walking with their cows when Angie felt something brush up against her foot.

"What the?"

She looked down, and to her horror she saw a snake! She shrieked in terror. Everyone looked at her.

"What's wrong, Angie?" asked Renni.

Everyone looked at the ground, and saw not one but at least six snakes slithering around. The cows started to panic, and the rest of the team began yelling and screaming too.

"Monica didn't say anything about snakes." said Glenn.

"Well she did say we'd have to make sure nothing bad happened to them." Zuni piped up.

"Let's just get the cows away from these snakes." Daniel instructed.

The members of the Tractors grabbed the ropes and pulled the cattle along. Though it was difficult because the cows were strong.

"Oh great, we're trying to help them but they won't budge." Angie whined.

"Less complaining and more pulling." told Glenn in an annoyed voice.

"I don't know what his problem is." Angie told.

"Manuel labor, especially outdoors sucks."

"Okay, Angie's complaining is starting to get annoying." Daniel said.

"This could be a problem."

The Haystacks continued on, after crossing the water.

"You think it'll be much longer?" wondered Sunny.

"I don't know. But let's keep going." urged Reese.

As they went on, then they came across a field filled with tall grass.

"Looks simple enough." observed Quinten.

"You got that right." agreed Courtney.

He smiled at her and she smiled back. Reese glanced over at them suspiciously.

"Let's stay focused here." he reminded.

As they walked through tall grass, pulling the cattle along when they stopped again.

"What now?" asked Spikke.

Quinten then sniffed the air, and then got a disgusted look on his face.

"Uh, guys I think the cows needed a bathroom break."

When they realized what he meant, they all looked grossed out.

"I hope we won't have to clean up after them like dogs." hoped Courtney.

While the Haystacks' cattle were taking their little break, the Tractors' cattle seem to start to get restless.

"Gee, what's wrong with these guys?" asked Angie, as she tugged on her rope.

"I guess they're tired of just following us." suggested Glenn.

Just then, one of the calves, got free from Renni's grip.

"Oh no!" she shrieked as the calf trotted off.

One of the female cows mooed in what seemed like worry.

"Get it!" Daniel urged.

Renni, Glenn, and Zuni hurried after the calf.

"How fast can a baby cow run?" asked Glenn.

"No clue. But we gotta catch it." Zuni told him.

They continued to run after the calf, and Renni managed to grab a hold of the rope.

"I got him." she informed.

After some gentle yet firm pulling, she managed to get the calf under control. Then she and the other joined the others.

"Be sure to keep a strong grip on your ropes guys." Daniel instructed.

"Especially you, Renni." sneered Angie.

"Well I guess this is what it's like to be a cowgirl." Renni said to the camera.

Both teams continued to make their way with their little herds of cattle avoiding other obstacles such as more snakes, their cows going astray, and stopping for cows bathrooms breaks.

"We're doing great guys." encouraged Daniel.

"The sooner this challenge is over the better." said Angie.

The other members rolled their eyes. Just then, the sky started to get dark, and the next thing everyone knew, rain was coming down.

"Oh great, I hate rain."

"Angie, just be quiet and keep walking." Zuni told her.

Angie just scoffed. The rain wasn't making things easier for the Haystacks either, but they kept on going. As they walked, the rain made the ground slippery. Courtney accidentally tripped and slipped.

She let out a yelp which startled her cow, and and take off dragging her along with it.

"Courtney!" cried Quinten.

"Hold on, we're coming!" Sunny called.

"Hurry, we gotta catch them." Reese told.

Everyone hurried after them, as Courtney held on for dear life as she was dragged by the cow. Luckily the others managed to catch up, Spikke and Reese grabbed the rope to stop the cow, and Quinten and Sunny helped Courtney up.

"You okay?" Sunny asked.

"(Sighs), I'm okay." Courtney assured.

"Hey, I think I can see Monica." observed Spikke.

"Where?" Reese wanted to know.

"Over there."

He pointed off in the distance, and about a few hundred yards away they could see a figure.

"He's right. Come on everyone, we're almost there." Reese told.

And off they went. The Tractors walked on, but they were having an even more difficult time with Angie complaining.

"This rain is ruining my clothes. And it's making the round all gross and muddy." she complained.

Renni and Zuni looked at each other annoyed, while Glenn and Daniel looked frustrated.

"I see the Haystacks up ahead." informed Renni.

"Come on, we've gotta catch up." urged Daniel.

They went as fast as they could as the rain came down. Monica, Hailey, and Charlotte stood in their spot under umbrellas.

"I see them coming." observed Charlotte.

Pepper squeaked.

"Hope those cows didn't give them too much trouble." hoped Hailey.

"Don't worry, Hailey. I'm sure they handled everything just fine." Monica assured.

And then, a few moments later the Haystacks got to there first.

"And the winners are the Haystacks!" announced Monica through her megaphone.

The Haystacks cheered, and when the Tractors got there they looked defeated.

"Haystacks for your reward you'll be treated to a night a nice hotel in the closest city. Tractors, I'll be seeing you at the elimination ceremony.

"Oh great." complained Angie.

Her teammates just looked at her annoyed.

"What?"

"I don't know what their problem is. I'm just saying my feelings." she explained to the cameras.

That evening, the Haystacks boarded a bus to take them to the hotel.

"This is going to be so relaxing." said Courtney.

"You bet." agreed Sunny.

"Hey, Courtney?" asked Quinten.

"Yes, Quinten?"

"I uh just wanted to make sure you were still okay from getting dragged from that cow."

Courtney noticed him blush a little, and smiled.

"Don't worry, I'm fine."

"Great. Just wanted to make sure."

Then he went back to his seat.

"He's so sweet." Courtney whispered to Sunny.

"Yes." she agreed.

At the elimination ceremony, the Tractors were casting their votes, and took their seats.

"We all know who's leaving right?" whispered Daniel.

"Yep." agreed Renni.

"I know why we lost." Glenn mentioned.

"So do I." Zuni added.

Then Angie came out and took her seat. A while later, Monica, Hailey, and Charlotte came to say who'd leave and who'd stay.

"All right, everyone you've cast your votes and now it's time to see who's going to leave." Monica said.

"When you hear your name come get your carrot." Hailey added.

"Zuni."

She got up, and Charlotte gave her a carrot.

"Daniel."

"Glenn."

It was down between Renni and Angie.

"And the final carrot goes to..."

There was a moment of silence, and then Monica finished.

"Renni."

"Yes!" Renni cheered, while Angie looked shocked.

"What? Fine you guys don't deserve me anyway."

And with that, Angie just left.

"And there goes another contestant. Who'll leave next? Find out next time on Totally Epic: Life on the Farm." Monica announced to the audience.

14th place: Phil

13th place: Riley

12th place: Kat

11th place: Sydney

10th place: Angie
