Chapter 11-Protecting the weak
No one's P.O.V
The night was lit up by the flames that burned the clanless houses. Clarke ducks under the swing from a man and swings her sword across his chest splitting him open. Behind her Lexa hit a man's sword away and shoved her sword through his chest. He lets out a grunt of pain as she removes her sword and continues to fight with Clarke. Across the village Raven rolls under and swing and then stabs her sword upwards into a woman's stomach. She stands up as a man comes up from behind her. A sword goes through the man's back and Raven turns around and looks at Luna. "Watch your back," Luna says and Raven smiles as she follows her.
Octavia and Lincoln fight back-to-back. Octavia side steps a swing from a woman and stabs her sword into the woman's neck. Behind her Lincoln hits a man's sword way and stabs his sword through a man's head. Jake, Anya, Indra, and Gustus fight around each other, protecting each other. Jake slits a man's throat and turns to look at a large man as he approaches him with an ax. He swings his ax at Jake who quickly side steps the swings and jabs his sword forward. The sword goes through the man's stomach, and he falls to the ground as life leaves his eyes. Jake looks around as Lexa stabs the last man through the heart and the fighting stops.
"We have won!" Lexa shouts and her men cheer.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke and Jake throw a body in the pile and walk over to Lexa and Anya as they spoke. "Now what?" Jake asks.
"We'll clean up the village, take what we can, and in two days, we will begin to build the Skaikru village," Lexa tells Jake who nods.
"Commander!" Lexa turns and looks at a guard as he pushes a man and woman towards them. He pushes them to their knees. "Clanless, hiding."
"We weren't hiding, they were holding us prisoner," The woman growls.
"Why?" Lexa asks.
"Because we tried to rob them," The man answers. "They caught us yesterday and were going to kill us this morning."
"They must die, Commander," The guard says.
"Why?" Clarke asks as she steps forward. "What have they done? They are not a threat."
"They are monsters, unnatural, I will kill them for you," The guard says as he removes his sword.
"No you won't," Clarke says as she steps in front of them.
"Move away skygirl, or you will die with them," The guard growls.
"Are you going to stop this?" Octavia asks Lexa as the warriors watch the two.
"This is Clarke's fight, not mine and not yours," Lexa says as she watches them.
"They will live, you will not harm them."
"You can't stop me."
"I challenge you to single combat, if I win, they get to live, if not, I'll be dead and you get to kill them," Clarke growls.
"Your challenge is accepted," The guard says as he steps back.
"Lexa, stop this," Jake growls.
"No, she must do this herself, none of us can intervene," Lexa replies firmly. "She will win."
"My name is Jonas, I want you to know the name of the man who kills you," He says as he removes a dagger and holds it with his left hand. Clarke pulls out her swords and stares at the man who the stare at each other. Jonas charges Clarke first. He swings his sword down and Clarke hits it away as he swings his dagger at her throat. Clarke back ups and continues to block and dodge Jonas as he swings at her.
"He is keeping her on the defensive," Luna says.
"She is tiring him out," Lexa says. "He is fast, his skill with his dagger and sword make it dangerous, Clarke knows this."
Clarke dodges his dagger again and Jonas swings his sword down and cuts into Clarke's leg. Clarke grunts in pain as Jonas swings his dagger and stabs into her shoulder making her drop her sword. Clarke lets out a shout of pain as she backs up. The dagger still in her shoulder.
"Clarke!" Jake says as he goes to help his daughter. Lexa grabs his arm.
"You can't, you will die. Trust her," Lexa says softly. Jake swords nods as he steps back.
"Time to die, sky girl," Jonas says as swings as Clarke who ducks under the swing and stabs her sword into Jonas's leg and quickly removes the dagger from her shoulder and stabs it into Jonas's stomach. Jonas grunts in pain as he drops his ssword and backups. Clarke punches him in the face, sending him to the ground. Clarke climbs on top of him and starts to stab the dagger into his chest. She stabs him ten times and then falls on her back, leaving the dagger in Jonas. Clarke breathes heavily as Raven and Octavia come over to her and helps her up.
"Untie them," Clarke says. Lexa looks at Gustus and nods. Gustus walks over to the man and woman and cuts the rope, and they stand up. Octavia and Raven help Clarke over to the wagon and sit her down as a healer comes over and starts to patch up her shoulder. The man and woman walk over to her.
"Thank you," The woman says. "I am Emori, this is my brother, Otan."
"Clarke," Clarke says before she hisses in pain as the healer cleans her shoulder. "You have your freedom, you can do what you wish, or you can come back to Polis with us."
"We will not be welcomed," Emori says.
"You are under my protection. "You will be my guests," Clarke says. "Is that alright, Heda?"
"I cannot not promise their safety, you gave them their freedom, Clarke. If they wish to join you, I will stop them," Lexa says as she removes Clarke's sword from Jonas and his dagger. She walks over to Clarke and sets them down. "Good job," She says before she walks away.
Clarke looks at the siblings. "We will join you," Otan says and Emori nods.
Lexa's P.O.V
Lexa walks into the throne room and looks at the clan leaders. She sits down and the clan leaders sit down. "The sky girl is not with you," Nia says.
"Clarke is resting, she was injured," Lexa says.
"Yes, defending two clanless who have now joined her in the capital," The Broadleaf clan leader says.
"Yes, they are under Clarke's protection. She risked her life for them, if she wishes to keep their company, it is her choice, now onto other matters. The clanless village was defeated, we lost 63 men and a pyre is being built for them and we will send them into the next life tomorrow. After you will return home."
"Commander, if I may?" Luna asks and Lexa nods. "I have asked my ambassador to return and lead Floukru for the time being, I would like to remain in Polis for a little while, help with the Skaikru village and continue to make our alliance stronger. If that is alright," Luna says.
"That is fine, Luna," Lexa says. "Speaking of the village, it will start being built in two days, if you wish to help, tell Jake. Send supplies and builders. Now onto trading routes."
Jake's P.O.V
Jake walked into Clarke's room and saw his daughter laying in bed drawing with her back against the headboard. "Emori, and Otan's room are beside mine, I will keep them safe," Jake tells his daughter who nods as she sets her book down. "What you did—"
"Was stupid, I shouldn't have put my life on the line for two people I didn't know. That's what you're going to say, right?" Clarke asks.
"No, I was going to say what you did was brave, and I have never been prouder, and I know your Mom would be too," Jake says as he lays his hand on her leg. "It was also stupid, but it made me proud."
Clarke smiles and nods. "Thanks, Dad. They should join our village; it will give them a chance at a better life."
"Talk with them about it," Jake says.
"I will," Clarke says. "Lexa asked me to stay and being the ambassador for our people when the village is built. I agree."
"Good, I'll need someone her I can trust," Jake says. "Get some rest,"
Clarke nods as Jake leaves the room.
Kane's P.O.V
Kane stood in Abby's apartment and looked at Bellamy, Abby, Murphy, Wells, Jasper, Monty, Miller, Aurora and Harper. "Should we be doing this?" Murphy asks.
"I got rid of the guards for a little bit, gave them some credits to leave me alone," Kane says. "There is something you all need to know about the ship."
"What is it?" Wells asks. "Is this why you haven't used it? Why you don't want to use it?"
"Yes, there is a huge risk taking that ship. There is a forty percent chance that during re-entry, the ship will blow up," Kane tells them. "Sinclair did his best to make sure it doesn't, but we won't know unless we use it."
"So there is a decent chance, we die," Murphy says and Kane nods.
"I would understand if you wanted to step away from this now, the way this is going. I won't take Jaha long to figure this out."
"Anybody wanna step away?" Wells asks and everybody stays silent. "We're with you, Kane. No matter what."
"Thank you," Kane says. "Miller, you need to start talking with your Dad. When I tell you to, I want you to tell him. We're gonna need him."
Miller nods. "Alright, go home, get some sleep," Aurora says and they all nod as they leave.
Lexa's P.O.V
Lexa knocked on Clarke's door. "Come in," Clarke says and Lexa walks in. "Did you take a minute out of your busy schedule to come see me?" Clarke asks with a smirk.
"It's almost dark, Clarke. I'm done for the day," Lexa says as she walks over to the bed and sits down. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm alright, just a few flesh wounds," Clarke says.
"You could have died, today."
"I didn't. I'm still here. I am still here."
"You scare me, Clarke," Lexa says, and Clarke looks at her confused. "You have made me feel alive, again. Before I met you, I was just the Commander, but when I'm with you, I'm Lexa, my duties fade away. You have made me care about you, and I cannot lose you."
"You won't," Clarke says as she lays her hand on Lexa's. "I don't plan on dying anytime soon."
Lexa nods. "You should get some rest," Lexa says as she stands up.
Clarke nods as Lexa walks towards the door. "Lexa," Clarke says making the Commander look at her. "Love isn't weakness, I hope you believe that."
Lexa doesn't say anything as she opens the door and leaves the room and Clarke lays down and closes her eyes.
Thanks for reading. Next chapter things start to heat up on both the ground and the Ark. Kane must make a choice on the Ark as Lexa works to keep the people she cares about safe. As always suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
