Chapter 21-Before the war

Lexa's P.O.V

Lexa opened her eyes when she heard someone knocking on her door. "Tell them to go away," Clarke mutters.

"I will, try," Lexa says as she climbs out of bed and walks up to the door. She pulls it open and looks at Octavia. "What do you want, Octavia?"

"The sun is up, it's time to wake up," Octavia says with a smirk.

"I'm going to throw you from the balcony," Lexa says. "Go away."

"Oh come on," Octavia says as she pushes into the room and jumps on the bed. Clarke opens her eyes and looks at her.

"I said make them go away. Not invite them in," Clarke says with a groan.

"I didn't invite her in. She pushed her way in," Lexa says. "Now get out of my bed."

"Clarke looks pretty comfortable in your bed," Octavia says.

"I was," Clarke says as he pulls herself up. "Has anybody checked on Costia?"

"No," Octavia says. "You're her doctor, you have fun with that," Octavia says as she lays down. "Your bed is better than Lincoln's."

Clarke puts her boots on and looks at her girlfriend. "I'm going to go check on your ex-girlfriend, you get rid of our friend or throw her from the balcony and Octavia you say anything about what you saw in here, I'll throw you from the balcony," Clarke says before she grabs her sword and leaves the room. Octavia looks at Lexa and smiles.

"I am going to get ready, when I walk out of that bathroom, you better be gone or I will drag you out by your hair," Lexa tells Octavia.

"I can keep the bed warm for Clarke," Octavia offers.

"I will do it, Octavia," Lexa warns as she walks into the bathroom and she hears Octavia chuckle.

Clarke's P.O.V

Clarke opens the door to Costia's room and looks at the woman who sat on the bed moving her stump. "I still feel it," Costia says.

"You will at times," Clarke says. "It's common after an amputation."

Costia turns and looks at her. "I should kill you."

"You can try, you may have been better than me with your right hand, but not with your left," Clarke says. "There are consequences to your actions, Costia. You killed the desert clan ambassador, you killed Titus."

"He did this to me, when he gave me over to Nia," Costia growls as she stands.

"That's bullshit, maybe for a while that was true but you could have run, you could have but you didn't, at some point what you were doing. You were doing it because you wanted to, not because of Titus or Nia. Those actions are your fault," Clarke replies.

"Maybe," Costia says. "Doesn't mean I needed to lose my damn arm."

"You did, it was a way to make sure that you never hurt anybody again," Clarke says. "That is the consequence for your actions."

"I bet you loved swinging that sword. Making sure I was weak because even now you know that I am better than you, Clarke. You couldn't even come in her by yourself and try to do it, you had to bring your friends. But don't worry, I will repay you in full someday, I promise you that, Clarke. I will make you regret the day you crossed me," Costia growls.

"Have fun doing that from this room," Clarke says. "You may have been a better fighter Costia. But not anymore, you don't have anything, you don't have allies, friends, a weapon," Clarke says as she steps closer to her. "You have nothing. So try and come after me, it will be the last thing you do," Clarke says before she turns around and leaves the room.

Kane's P.O.V

Kane sat on a bench watching Octavia as she trained with Bellamy. "She is impressive," Lexa says as she sits down beside him. "You raised her well."

"Thank you, Commander," Kane says. "So tells me that you are getting ready to leave."

"Yes we are," Lexa tells him. "You and the ones you came down with will be remaining in Polis under protection from most my loyal guards. They will also help train you. But none of you can be apart of this war."

"I understand, we're not ready," Kane says as he looks at Octavia. "I just got my daughter back and now she is going to war."

"She will come back, Kane," Lexa says.

"How do you know that?" Kane asks.

"Because she is strong. Because I need her for what I am trying to build, I need all of you. Skaikru is very important for the world I am trying to build," Lexa tells Kane who nods.

"You have Skaikru Commander, we will do whatever we can to help you."

Murphy's P.O.V

Murphy walked out of his room and looked at Clarke as she walked down the hall. "Clarke," Murphy says making the blond look at him. "Wells was looking for you, he's about to head into the market, told me that if I saw you, tell you to meet him at the elevator," Murphy tells Clarke who nods. Murphy turns to walk away.

"How did you two become friends?" Clarke asks making Murphy look at her. "You hated us when we were on the Ark," Clarke tells him. "So what changed?"

"Nothing, at first," Murphy says. "I still hated Wells after you escaped to Earth but I hated Jaha more and the way the three of you supposedly died was suspicious. So I figured the best way to get answers and take down Jaha was to befriend his son who was so in love with you that he would do anything if there was any chance of you being alive. But Wells, he was nothing like his father, I wanted to hate him but I couldn't, he gave me a family, Clarke and I love him like he is my brother and I would happily die for him. Offering him that deal was the best decision I ever made," Murphy says and Clarke smiles.

"I guess that makes us the two siblings who fight all the time," Clarke says making Murphy chuckle.

"Yes it does, princess," Murphy says. "Go find, Wells," Murphy says and Clarke nods.

"Thank you, Murphy. For taking care of him when I couldn't," Clarke says and Murphy nods as Clarke walks away.

Nia's P.O.V

Nia walked into her war room and looks at her generals. "Well?" Nia asks.

"We have warriors across everyborder and dozens of camps throughout Azgeda ready to slow down the Commander's army if she does make it through our line of warriors," One of the general tells her.

"Good, but Lexa will go through those camps quickly, so tell me how you plan on dealing with her army when she gets here, cause I would very much like to keep my head on my shoulders," Nia says.

"The capital will be the most defended place in Azgeda, my Queen. If she does get here, it will not be easy for her and she will lose men, a lot of them. By the time she gets past our border and our camps, it will be slim pickings," Another general says.

"Where do you think she will enter?" Nia asks as she looks at the map.

"Here, plenty of cover from the trees, and enough room for her army to enter, but we will be prepared, while her army is on this road, we will hit them from both sides, they will enter eventually but it will be after heavy lost," Her general tells her and she nods.

"That is good. Do know that if we lose this war, I will take your heads before Lexa takes mine," Nia says before she leaves the room.

Wells's P.O.V

Clarke and Wells walk through Polis. "This city is amazing," Wells says as he looks around.

"You should see Luna's home. The water goes forever, Wells. It's beautiful," Clarke says. "Hopefully after this, I will show it to you."

"I wish you didn't have to go. I've worried about you enough," Wells says and Clarke smiles.

"I have too, I'm fighting for our future and I need to be there for Lexa," Clarke says.

"How did that happen?"

"I don't know," Clarke says. "From the moment I met Lexa, there was something about her that pulled me towards her. When I'm with her Wells, it's like all of our problems disappear and it is just her and me," Clarke says as Wells smiles. She looks at him. "What?"

"You are so in love with her. It's disgusting really," Wells says and Clarke chuckles as she punches his shoulder.

"Shut up," Clarke says. "So we leave tomorrow but I knew that someday you would come down here so I made a chest board, maybe we could play a game before you go to bed."

"You're already wanting to lose, Clarke?" Wells asks.

"I've been winning a lot actually," Clarke says.

"Against who?" Wells asks.

"Lexa. She is a sore loser," Clarke says.

"Reminds me of someone else I know."

Raven's P.O.V

Raven watched Luna from her couch as Luna sat at her desk and looked at reports from Floukru. "Everything still good?" Raven asks Luna who nods as she sets the papers down.

"Yes," Luna says as she turns to look at her. "But I want to make sure everything is perfect, I won't be able to do anything while we are at war."

"Hopefully the war will end quickly and Nia will just surrender," Raven says and Luna smirks. "Wishful thinking?"

"Very wishful," Luna says as she stands up and walks over to her. She sits down beside her. "After this is over, I will have to return to Floukru for a little while."

"You better me asking me to come."

"Of course I am," Luna says. "But I will also be going there to make somelse the leader of Floukru. I will be the ambassador."

"Why?" Raven asks.

"Because I want to be here with you and our friends, I love my people but I'm happy here and I want to remain here."

"Does that mean I need to get a bigger room?" Raven asks Luna who chuckles.

"Yes, much bigger. I have a lot of things."

Roan's P.O.V

Roan walks into Costia's room. "You have free roam of the tower?" Costia asks him.

"Yeah, the Commander and I want the same thing. To see my mother dead, we are working towards a common goal. No one knows what you want. Do you want my mother dead, do you not?"

"Of course I want her dead, just not for the same reasons as the rest of you. I want her dead so Ontari can finally be free," Costia says.

"Does my mother know how close you two have become?"

"Of course not, she would have killed us both," Costia says. "Promise me Roan that you will make sure nothing happens to her."

"I'll make sure nothing happens to her," Roan says and Costia nods. "You could have a life again Costia. Take the chance, and stop being and idiot," Roan says before he leaves Costia alone with her thoughts.

Thanks for reading. Next chapter the group leaves for the war. Kane and Octavia have a talk and the war begins. As always suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
